Pathfinder subscription discount not showing...?

Scarab Sages

Hi,

I signed up for Pathfinder subscription last night, and, although the words "30% off cover price" were on the invoice, it still calculated price as $19.99.

Does this mean;

a) Normal cover price is $28.55, and thus, $19.99 is the reduced price...?, or

b) The price is recalculated at time of shipping (allowing for potential unforseen increases)...?, or

c) Website not working...?, or

d) None of the above?

I went ahead and placed the order, anyway, since I didn't want to miss the deadline for Charter Title or free PDFs, and what I'd seen of the Player's Guide looked interesting.
But it would help to clear up any confusion, and help me budget.

Related questions;

Can you also confirm that this order allows me to download the PDF version as well?

And is it too late to add some back-issues to this package?

And if so, how many back issues would stay under the postal weight limit?

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Charter Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game, Starfinder Society Subscriber

Retail Price is 19.99 USD, (-30 % => 13,99 US$ subscription rate)

This will be charged to your credit card in addition to the shipping costs (4$ domestic shipping, 5$ international shipping or 6,58$ for combined international shipping).

When the Subscription copies are sent out, you will be given an email, that the subscription has been shipped. At that point the new issue will be available in "My Downloads" for downloading (you have to personalize it first).

That was a fast reply!

Do I take it you're on the Paizo staff (I see you are a fellow subscriber)?

I haven't double-checked what back-issues I need yet (my stuff is all over the place, due to decorating), but hopefully I can add an item or two to the list before these 2 ship?

Thanks

Bob

Hello there, gentle reader! I am not a Paizo Employee, but I play one on the messageboards. Buy Pathfinder. We wouldn't want any...accidents...to happen, would we?

The actual answer (and thank you to everyone who provided good information!) is d) None of the above.

The reason that the full cover price appeared on your order was that you had added the first volume of Pathfinder and the Rise of the Runelords Players Guide to your cart in addition to the subscription. The charge you saw was for the additional copy of volume 1. I have canceled these items from your order, as I am assuming that you only need one copy. The subscription price is, indeed 30% off the cover price (or US $13.99) plus shipping and handling (which will be US $5.00).

Your monthly charge will be US $18.99 for as long as the cover price of Pathfinder remains at $19.99 (which is for the foreseeable future).

Your PDF of each volume will become available when each volume ships. You will receive an email notifying you when this happens.

As for adding additional items to the shipment, this functionality is currently still unavailable. We will be adding this functionality very soon, however (though, probably not in time for the shipment of Pathfinder Volume 1).

With the shipment of back issues, I can't really give you a definite number of issues before it raises the shipping and handling charge. If you're just getting back issues by themselves, it usually jumps at around 3-5 issues, but this is far from guaranteed. I can definitely say that (except under very rare circumstances*) you will always pay less in shipping and handling by bundling than you will by having two separate shipments.

Thanks,
cos

Spoiler:
*That very rare circumstance? If you have multiple small orders that, when put together, require a large/irregular box and weigh in total over four pounds, then it may be cheaper for them to go separately.

Thank you everyone who responded so quickly, and a very big 'two thumbs up' to Cosmo, for his informative reply, and his pro-active correction of my double-order.
I don't know if this is a common occurrence; I'm sure I clicked to add 'subscription' rather than the individual issue. You are quite right that I only need one copy.

It's that common-sense and customer-friendly approach that really makes Paizo stand out, in my opinion; I'm sure there's plenty of other companies would not notice, or would have just taken the money for the unwanted goods.

Please accept this as a positive reference for your yearly appraisal, or whatever you call them.

It's also testament to the faith I have in Paizo, that I went ahead with the order anyway, fully believing that everything would be resolved in the end.

Here's to the next 5 years.

Hehe...

Actually... you did it completely right.

[blush] I was acting on incomplete information and the Great Eye came in and corrected my over-zealous correction.[/blush]

The bottom line is, however, that your subscription is correctly configured and you will be getting every volume and you will not be over-charged for them.

:)

Just went to check, and saw I was down for issue 2, but I also saw the note about the bug in the system.

I still seem to have a $19.99 copy of issue 1 in my cart though...

I'll see how it all plays out; if I do get charged the higher rate, there's plenty of cool Paizo goodies out there to make a credit note worthwhile...(hint)...the T-shirt with "I got lucky with the Monkey Hand!" cracks me up. That's just has to get some stares, if I don't get enough already!

Thanks for all efforts.

That's not quite true—if the shipping cost changes from $5, the total would also change.

Scarab Sages

I got my e-mail, telling me the first issue should be shipping soon.

Thanks for everything, and hope you make a success of this, whichever edition you follow.

The print copy arrived this lunchtime, along with the Player's Guide.
Very beautiful, and even better knowing I can keep it that way by printing the PDF!

From what I've read, it looks like the sort of place I always wanted to create for myself, if I had the time. Well done!

Please can I vote that Pathfinder stays 3.5 compatible, after May 2008?
Whether 4th Edition is good or bad is irrelevant, whether Paizo create a line of 4th Ed product or not, I would rather see continuity in this line, until the world is mapped out enough for all DMs to take it and run with it.

Since it is mainly existing Paizonians who will have heard of this setting, it does not need to be retrofitted for new rules, assuming such a revision is even possible, which is still open to question.

Thanks,

Bob
