Player art flipbooks?

Rise of the Runelords

I always liked the old art flipbooks that came with the DarkSun modules. Basically, they just provided an easy means to show the player a scene rather than holding up the book and trying to cover all the text.

But it also provided a unifying art theme to the entire adventure when the players were constantly being presented with those pictures. It's part of what gave DarkSun it's flavor.

I'm curious whether Paizo thought about doing something similar for their adventure paths. It might be nice to have a flipbook of the art in the module, with tabbed pages for various important character portraits.

Probably wouldn't be a lot of work to do, since a lot of the art could just be replicated from the book. It'd just be a matter of how you Kinko'ed it and how many people would be interested in buying it...

I've noticed that since the Pathfinder line seems to have hit a sort of pre-success, a whole lot of "filler" items have hit the coming soon section (the map folio for example). That's great in my opinion, I figured this could be another nice thing to add to those.

I would buy it. It's always seemed a shame to keep all that gorgeous art to myself. Trying to cover the text and show the players the art either ends in spoilers or an all-too-quick glance that doesn't do the art justice.

I usually just make my own with the web enhancements. I printed them out on the color laser printer we had at school, and instead of describing people, it was "you notice these people in addition to the everyday crew boarding the sea wyvern as your passengers" and I plopped the pictures down

Amusing that when I saw the title of this thread, the first thing I thought of was "Dark Sun." Still my favorite setting (I have a complete set of the materials in the spare room), but man were those books ever a pain in the butt. I think they would have been a lot more manageable if they hadn't used a ring binder.

Y'know, if you have the PDF (and subscribers get the PDF for free--yay us!), you can copy the images you want to share and paste them into an image editor or import them into a word processor or whatever and create you own artbook. As long as you're not distributing this and only using it in your game group, I doubt that the nice people at Paizo would mind.
