Subscription Starts with #2?

Customer Service

I just exercised my transition option, but it says I won't get my first issue of Pathfinder until Volume 2. What's the deal? Did I miss some kind of cutoff?

I'm not even sure I /want/ a subscription to Pathfinder, but I figured with the discount being offered and the value of what's left on my Dragon subscription, the cost to check it out was worthwhile. But if I'm not even going to get issue #1, what's the point?

I'm guessing your remaining Dragon/Dungeon subcriptions added up to getting the first Pathfinder for free. After that you get charged so your my subscriptions page would say "Your ongoing subscription starts with volume #2.

I could just be misunderstanding. Not like that hasn't happened before. :)

I've got the following info in My Subscriptions:

My Subscriptions wrote:

Remaining converted volumes: 19

Volume #1 ships August 2007
Your ongoing subscription
will begin with volume #20

I converted almost full 3 year subs to both Dungeon and Dragon, so my converted volumes will last me a while...

I can't look into your account from home, but no worries—you'll start with volume 1.

Yes. What this is trying to tell you is that you will start with volume #1, and you'll get them all through volume #19 with no hassle. At volume #20, we'll start charging your credit card.

(Though it's probable your card will have expired by then and you'll need to get us a new one or a new expiration date. But the plan is that we'll let you know by email if that happens with enough advance notice that you won't miss a volume if you respond within a few days.)

Okay, so in my case:

Remaining converted volume: 1
Volume #1 ships August 2007
Your ongoing subscription
will begin with volume #2

I get volume 1 for free? And you start charging my credit card with Volume 2? I didn't think I had that much left on my subscription account.

Everybody who has *any* credit left for remaining issues is offered at least one volume of Pathfinder for free. (Just sending you the first 30 pages would be pretty lousy!)

Spoiler:
Ok... Even though I'm 30, perhaps I spend too much of my free time on MySpace for my own good...

Same just happened to me when I converted an issue I didn't know I had left.

First volume of Pathfinder, practically for free, as a result of my ignorance of my own subscription status. Seriously, the value is not to be believed.

You guys rock!

On Friday, my Pathfinder subscription looked like this:

Remaining converted volume: 1
Volume #1 ships August 2007
Your ongoing subscription
will begin with volume #2

Today it reads like this:

Remaining converted volume: 1
Volume #2 ships September 2007
Your ongoing subscription
will begin with volume #3

Is this an error, or am I really getting Pathfinder #2 for free? I didn't think I had enough credit from the transition for more than one freebie...

Same here. For the last month or so, I had the first, and today, I have the second.

Kaye, Sect,

There is currently a small bug in the next issue display on the My Subscriptions page. It is currently one volume ahead of what it should be displaying. You are both getting just Volume #1 using your transitioned remaining issues and Volume #2 will be the first volume of your paid, ongoing subscription.

Thanks,
cos

Thanks for the update, Cosmo. That's what I thought had happened, but wanted to make sure you guys were aware of the problem...

...though the extra issue would have been nice!

I signed up for subscriptions over this weekend. Is it too late for me to receive Pathfinder #1 and module D2, or will I get copies of them? My card already has a charge for a module, but there is no charge yet for Pathfinder, this makes me wonder.

Paizo Employee Senior Software Developer

You will get Pathfinder #1 and D2. We haven't started shipping either yet.

Wonderful! I'm eagerly awaiting them.

I am also confused - it used to say that my ongoing subscription would start with issue 5, now its says 6.

I Assume it is a glitch, but figured I would keep on top of it.

As Cosmo mentioned a few posts ago, there is a bug. It will be fixed after Pathfinder #1 ships.

So...
I just subscribed today... yes I waited to late to be a charter subscriber... <sniff>

But... my account shows the following below:
Ongoing Subscription
Volume #2 ships September 2007

Does that mean I will still get the First issue since it hasn't even shipped yet?

As has been mentioned in this thread, a couple of times, there is a bug on the subscriptions pages. You will get Pathfinder #1.

Liberty's Edge

Right, that part I saw. I just wanted to make sure that there wasn't a cut off date for starting #1.

Thanks, though.

Paizo Employee Senior Software Developer

Later this afternoon I'll throw a switch which will allow you to select which issue a new Pathfinder subscription starts with (#1 or #2). Any sub created before this time will start with #1.

Paizo Employee Senior Software Developer

This switch has been thrown.
