Having a plethora of friends offer to help when you are down and out.
Having a friend who, with very short notice, is willing to shelter your two cats and take a day off of work to help you move out of your apartment.
Having another friend who, on very short notice, lets you rent their spare room for a couple months.
Good friends are priceless. There are friends who will help you move, then there are friends who will help you move bodies. ;)

And friends who will offer large open tracts of land for burial....
What?

It's deemed a touch premature* at the moment, and should follow formal procedure and inform familial people first, which wont happen for 6 or 8 weeks yet....As soon as it is reasonable, I shall be back here posting though.... Ohhhh, indeed I will.
* If somewhat superstitious.
Then Gratz ahead of time.

Yeah, we been talking for hours on the phone and time just flies; seems like 5 minutes and it has been 3 hours; I get to have my first date and meet her tomorrow; yippe and if that goes as well as expected; we are going dancing on Saturday; whew; the Waltz is a good thing; I love that flowing across the floor with your love in your arms so in tune with such teamwork; man that is totally a good thing. Two Step and other dances are good; but Waltz for me; well, until I learn the Brazillian Tango hehe.
Ab Zombie; your wife sounds like she so rocks; thanks for sharing and giving us these little posts the last several years; is awesome to know somebody is on the right track; gives the rest of us Hope; and that is a good thing.

yes; took a few weeks to clear my head and my heart; got on Match.com and sheesh; got a post from her in an hour; then a flood of them; sheesh like 20 in a few hours; that is cool; makes you feel good like somebody thinks your good, worthwhile. So for me Match.com is a good thing; but I have freinds that get one or two in months or none at all; so not to good for them.
Valegrim wrote:ok; good things; New Love; that excitement; that verve, that sheet joy. Am starting to date a awesome woman. Is this related to the post you just posted in the 'Things in Life That Suck' thread?
Good Things: Valegrim's aftershave.

That's a funny coincidence. I, too, have something to post here, but think it would be most appropriate to do so about 6 or 7 weeks from now.

And now I'm in the mood to tell a long, rambling story. In 2000, I took a glance at D&D 3rd Edition, and said "It's too complicated for me." Later that year, I took my fiancée to a Wizards of the Coast retail store (remember those?) to show her some D&D stuff, because I intended, once we were married, to play it with her at least once. The lady working at the store gave us a sales pitch for 3rd Edition. After we left the store, I told my fiancée "I have no intention of trying 3rd Edition. It's too complicated, and I have plenty of 2nd Edition material to use."
I thought that was the final word on the matter. After all, she didn't seem to care about RPGs at all, so what should she care about edition? Imagine my surprise when she got me a 3rd Edition Player's Manual... for a wedding present! I mean, we're Orthodox Jews, and I was expecting to get Judaica-related stuff (and in fact, she got me that too.) But a D&D manual?!? I guess that lady's sales pitch must have worked on my wife after all.
So that was the only reason I gave 3rd Edition a chance at all. After trying D&D for a couple of sessions, my wife quit RPGs altogether, complaining that she didn't "get it." I found 3rd Edition too complicated myself, and would have given it up, but then my old friend said that HE wanted to try 3rd Edition, so we began a campaign that was to last for over 3 years. After the first few months of that campaign, I had to admit that once you get past the learning curve, 3rd Edition is addictive. In fact, I came to think of 3rd Edition as THE D&D. I could never go back to 2nd Edition again.
I continued to use that 3rd Edition Player's Manual for over 8 years. Even when I got 3.5, my friend wanted to stick with 3.0. Only Paizo got me to stop using that old 3.0 manual in 2009. That gift lasted a long time!
I just felt compelled to tell this story after reading this...
Today is my 3rd Wedding Anniversary. Wife gave me a beer holster - like for a cowboy's gun, but it holds booze!
Game manuals may not hold booze, but they sure help me to escape from reality in another way.

I'm getting married to an amazing woman in 4 weeks, and almost all of the planning is nearly done. Also my work is looking better by the moment, the apartment building hasn't had a major issue in the last 5 weeks and I have double stuff oreos at home.
EDIT: I forgot: I'm converting Legacy of Fire to 3.P and having a great time doing so.
Life's pretty sweet.

I might be getting a job, finally. It's a short term thing and the pay is lousy (7.50 an hour, compared to 14 at my last job >_<) but it beats sitting around all day and fighting with Unemployment every few weeks.
Plus it's a temp thing, if one of the other leads I'm chasing (which tend to hover around 10-11 an hour) comes up I can (hopefully) jump over without too much hassle.

Aaron Bitman |

Aaron, that is an amazing coincidence, congratulations ;)
Ah... I didn't mean to imply that anything major in my life is going to happen that I can announce six weeks from now. I just meant that an appropriate day is around then, that's all. I'm sure that what I say six weeks from now will be nothing remotely like what YOU'LL say then.

The spirit of Gary Gygax? Or Dungeon Master from the cartoon show (aka Yoda in a man suit)?

Another fantastic week. I could get used to this.
Huzzah!
I have a friend coming from out of town this weekend.
My to-do list is done (early, even), and the boss said I could leave when it was.
It's sunny out.
And it's payday.
