Question about transition and Pathfinder "month to month" subscription

Customer Service

I selected the Pathfinder conversion option for my Dragon and Dungeon subscriptions, and checked the "start my month-to-month" subscription box, and saved. But it didn't prompt me for anything to enter my subscription data.

So I added a "month to month" subscription manually, but it seemed to just increase my number of available issues from 4 to 5.

Is my account set up for "month to month" with all of the charter subscriber benefits and discounts?

Adventure Path Charter Subscriber

I'm in the same exact situation, but I think I have the answer. If you look next to your name on your post, you're designated as a "Pathfinder Charter Subscriber" (as am I) which I believe means we're in for the whole shebang.

I'm technologically incompetent and can't figure out how to switch my subscription to Pathfinder. When I go to "My Subscriptions" I see my Dragon and Dungeon subscriptions, but no option to "convert to Pathfinder." I did manage to convert my Amazing Stories issues to Dragon...:p

I tried clicking on the "add month to month" thing and it directed me to the Dragon subscription page. Help?

Ok, I figured out where the transition options are. However, when I select "convert to Pathfinder" and click "save changes" it just redirects me to the paizo.com/transition page again. Did it work?

Amber, I haven't yet had the opportunity to completely wire up the Pathfinder transition stuff to the "My Subscriptions" page. For now you need to go to the transition page to see your options.

If you have a month-to-month subscription, you'll see Pathfinder Charter Subscriber in your messageboards title, and you will get every volume of Pathfinder as it comes out from now until the end of time. (Unless you do something foolish like contact customer service and cancel your subscription, of course. :-)

Yes. See your new messageboards title. :-)

I think I need to add a confirmation page to the transitions page....

I've never used month to month before, is it billed at shipping? Are there any other differences? Maybe this is answered in FAQ, but why is annual subscription not an option?

Edit: Interesting, didn't see the "Pathfinder Charter Subscriber" because I used a alternet nick to post as.

With a month-to-month subscription we authorize a charge against your credit card a few days before we'll ship your copy. If your card has expired, or is over your credit limit, or any other problem, we'll automatically send you an email so you can contact customer service and remedy the problem. Then we actually charge your card when we ship.

Sorry, this is probably me just being dense but...

I chose the transition selection of receiving Pathfinder for the balance of my account (4 issues of Pathfinder). Next, I signed up for the month-to-month subscription of Pathfinder. Does this mean I'll receive 2 copies of Pathfinder for the first 4 issues? Or does month-to-month kick in with Pathfinder #5, after I receive the 4 issues alloted from the transition?

Your insight is appreciated,

Chris

The month-to-month kicks in once your converted issues are exhausted.

While I'm extremely saddened to see Dragon and Dungeon go, I'm optimistic about Paizo's ability to deliver quality product.

Given that my credit gave me six issues of Pathfinder, that means I'll have a complete adventure path delivered to my door in only half the time as before.

With a six-month period to evaluate the quality of the new product, adding a month-to-month subscription was a no-brainer for me.

I had the same problem. Please change my remaining issues after August to Pathfinder...Thank you

Can i subscribe to Pathfinder like i did Dungeon and Dragon? If so,how do i go about doing this?

I'm a bit confused by the month-to-month subscription - I've only every purchased annual subscriptions before. I've transferred my Dungeon subscription (which gives me the first issue of Pathfinder free) and signed up for month-to-month subscription; my account info now says that I have two issues of Pathfinder remaining. Does this mean that with a month-to-month subscription I have to resubscribe each month, or does my subscription automatically renew each month unless I cancel?

I'd hate to have to order each issue separately, since I'm likely to forget and miss an issue. If month-to-month subscriptions do not renew automatically are there any plans to offer annual subscriptions?

Pathfinder subscriptions are available here.

We're no longer offering fixed-length (i.e. 6-issue or 12-issue) subscriptions, only month-to-month.

Month-to-month susbcriptions are ongoing. Once you sign up for one, we automatically send you a new book each month until you decide to cancel. No need to worry about renewal notices or accidentally letting your subscription lapse. We just charge your card each month when a new copy is ready to ship. Kind of like signing up for your ISP, or a MMO game, or, well, many, many things. Just set it up and stop thinking about it until your monthly delivery of gaming goodness arrives.

Perfect Gary, thanks for the swift response.

Can't wait to check out the new offering.

That's excellent! This is even more convenient than annual subscriptions (which I also usually forget to renew on time). Thanks very much.

I've converted my subscriptions to Pathfinder and selected to start a month-to-month subscription afterwards. For some reason I'm listed as a Pathfinder Subscriber and not as a Pathfinder Charter Subscriber and month-to-month is not listed under "My Subscriptions" only the regular Dragon, Dungeon and Pathfinder. What went wrong? Should I sign up for the month-to-month subscription manually?

Did you click the "Save Changes" button on the transition page, and go through the checkput process?

The email said there are different shipping options, but I all get is $4.00 per issue. I can find no way to choose anything different or find out what I get for the $4 rate. Am I missing something?

Um... I'm not sure if Gary has finished wiring that all up yet. If not, you'll be able to switch it to (I believe) UPS 2-day or UPS Overnight in the near future.

$4 standard shipping gets packed into a stiff cardboard mailer, and then goes by UPS Mail Innovations to a USPS distribution center near you, and delivery is completed by the Post Office. Delivery time should be comparable to first-class mail from Seattle.

You know that "book rate" can still apply to USPS shipping. It might sound like I am being cheap, but $4 a month adds up pretty quick for a $14 book.

Also, I just completed my "order". The shipping choices come up after you enter your credit card info. Maybe switch that so you know exactly what you are getting before entering the CC info.

Yes, I did, until I was redirected to the transition page.

I'm a little bit confused here. Does this mean you didn't get as far as the order confirmation page? Let's do this: head back to the Transition page, and make sure the Pathfinder radio button is selected, and the month-to-month checkbox is checked. Then click the "Save Changes" button. At this point, you should be prompted to go through the checkout process—the transition page should not reload. If you're still having problems, let us know...

We'll examine that possibility.

I'm having the same problem. I've selected the Pathfinder button and the month-to-month checkbox, but when I click "Save Changes", the page simply reloads. It does not take me to the check-out process. I've tried a few times now.

Gary will have to look into that. In the meantime, you could just sign up for a month-to-month by adding it to your cart and checking out—the net effect is the same.

I've tried it again - even unchecked and checked the month-to-month checkbox - but when I click "Save Changes" the transition page simply reloads.

EDIT:
Didn't see your answer there. I'll add it manually.
Thanks Vic.

I'm a patient person; I'd be quite happy with a book rate option for any/all Paizo products.

Testing to see if I did this right...

Well, it didn't take the first time, but I re-submitted the transition.

Yup. Just saving changes on the transition page doesn't appear to do the trick. You need to hunt down the checkout page via the Shopping Cart option.

Heh! Hey we can get it overnighted for only $53 an issue! Take THAT USPS!

This is one of my highest priorities to fix tomorrow.

Liberty's Edge

I remain extremely upset that the two magazines I've subscribed to will be coming to a close. However, I am willing to try to make the best of a bad situation.

I've converted my subscription from my magazines to the new Pathfinder. I will be receiving 11 issues. I expect I will buy the 12th issue from the newsstand.

I will not be purchasing any issues beyond that if the month-to-month option is the only one available to me. I am fully willing to pay a large sum of money up front for a 1 year, 2 year or 3 year subscription. I am unwilling to allow recurring charges to my credit card.

I hope you'll consider offering a long term subscription that allows a customer to purchase the product at one moment. This allows me to justify the subscription as a Christmas or birthday present.

I understand the benefits that a month-to-month subscription offers you as a company. Please try to understand the benefits a long-term subscription offers your customers.

PS - After some consideration I've decided to use the month to month option to receive my 12th issue. Besides a lower price and an incentive product, it will be easier for me than to try to get it from the gaming store. However, after that issue, I will only renew with a long term subscription.

Pathfinder Starfinder Society Subscriber

OK, I just want to test this. I'm having the same problem with the Charter Subscription transition page. I'll try the checkout way.

Also, why wasn't I emailed on this? I went to Giants in the Playground's site while setting up my email and see this shock?!

Although I'm willing to give it a try, I still would have appreciated an email saying "Hey, um, check out our website for important information regarding your subscription(s)."

We sent out the announcement as part of our weekly newsletter on Friday. Today we're going to send the announcement to our announcement list. We're probably going to send the announcement to subscribers after that.

We try to limit our emailings to one per day because it uses up a lot of our bandwidth.
