Liberty's Edge

Dear Paizo folk,

I understand that with the just announced changes, the Paizo messageboards will still be up and running strong.

However, do the changes have any effect on us running PbP games here on the boards, particularly if we are planning on using content from Dungeon or Dragon magazines?

I would imagine not, but just wanted to check...

Liberty's Edge

I say to hell with Wizards of the Cost, we keep playing our games, and if they say we can't, ignore 'em. They can't stop us.

I guess I missed the announced changes...what's going on?

LOL, Grim! Of all the announcements to miss!

I'm sure if you poke around the site long enough, you'll come to this conclusion: Wizards pulled the license from Paizo so that Dungeon and Dragon magazine can no longer be published. Paizo is creating an OGL-compliant adventure book called Pathfinder in place of the magazines.

Lol Grim what rock do u hide under. anyway i hope they dont affect pbp games, and i dont really see why they would.

Yarg! No sooner than I posted this I went and looked around to see what the deal was. I'm livid. Like stalk someone through the forest with a battleaxe livid. Argh.

Reminds me of when they killed Polyhedron--except as I can tell Polyhedron was doing awful and everyone hated it, whereas WotC is nixing Dungeon and Dragon so they can gobble them up because they are doing SO well they want to snatch their valuable property back. I'm just furious. And if I'm worked up about it, next to my wife I'm the sane one. I think she's painting picket signs.

Not sure about this whole Pathfinder thing. Modules in general are about as useful to me as a broken brick, and a whole softcover book that's half giant dungeon and half rules to back up a giant dungeon--well that's just depressing. Sorry I think I'm getting off the bus here. It's been great, but I think I'll get the rest of my subscription in backissues and then I'm done.

So yeah, I'll probably be dropping out for a while. Sorry to everyone, but I'm still seething a little (okay...a lot) and I'm not sure anything I would post would be anything anyone would want to hear. Not really up to the PbP thing either, I'm afraid. If someone wants to claim the DM title for my games, that's fine. I'm just going to go brood for a while. You all are great. Hope to see you around.

I'm just going to go curl up in a fetal position somewhere. Blarg.

This news is far, FAR more upsetting to me than the news about the magazines. I am so sorry that you feel this way, Grim. Your presence will be greatly missed. If you change your mind, we will still be here.

I share your opinion on the usefulness of modules, but even as a non-subscriber all these months (years?) that I've been active here, the thing that kept me around was the people and the community. You are part of that community and the loss of such a respected peer in this community is far more devastating than the loss of a few magazines I never read anyway.

Damn, damn, damn. I am with Fatey on this one. I'll miss you terribly, and I'll also be here if you choose to come back.

heh I feel about the same a Grim; sigh. I too am curious about the state of the forums, but I dont have much use for broken bricks either though having the first issue of anything is always cool.
