Evil Off: Alhaster vs. Scuttlecove

Dungeon Magazine General Discussion

Which one do you prefer: A lawful evil oppresive dictatorship or a chaotic evil anarchic hellhole?

Dictatorship. With a dictatorship, you know (for the most part) that as long as you play by the rules, however oppressive they may be, you will probably not die. In the anarchic hellhole, you could die at any given moment for any random reason.

ditto to Fatespinner. Well said. I'll take the dictatorship.

The Exchange

Yep - so long as the trains run on time....

having run neither city yet, I lean towards alhaster. It's more fun to mess with the pcs when they step out of line, then to just have random chaos occur.

Dictatorship

I'd rather be in Scuttlecove. It's much easier to get out of, if one needed to, and if you're capable of defending yourself, much easier to get by.

Besides, I'd rather live in chaos and still be able to say what I think than to have the trains run on time.

Noone has voted for chaos yet? Fire it up. Fire it up. FIRE IT UP!

I've ran AoW, and Alhaster was particularly loathed by my players, especially the public executions. But with Scuttlecove, and its open debauchery, who knows? They may prefer the "protective" vigilance of the Blessed Angels over the cannibalistic Order of Dire Hunger, for starters.

Liberty's Edge

It's so hard to choose. They both have their own unique lack of merits.
