How generous is your Lavinia? (Big Time SPOILERS)

My PCs are getting ready to face Rowyn and Gut Tugger next session, and will very likely move on to loot the Lotus Dragon treasury. Since they adore Lavinia, I'm assuming that they're going to hand over all of the stolen Vanderboren loot (8600 gp worth!). The text notes that Lavinia will reward the PCs "handsomely" if they return the loot to her.

So, my questin is to you DMs out there. How much of a reward did you have Lavinia give your PCs?

Whatever got them up to the guide line GP values for their level.

I can't remember the exact amount I gave them but it wasn't much. Lavinia invited them over for dinner and gave them all presents! A box of neat potions for the rogue, an enchanted lyre for the bard, a bag of tricks for the druid, and etc.

I think I would say the DMaple is actually pretty close to spot on. I would definately make sure they were, at a minimum, up to the appropriate balance of treasure to class and perhaps even them throw them a little bonus.

I also really like the idea of making this items or gifts that are tailored to the individual PCs.

My PC's have still not talked to Lavinia as a group since clearing out the Guildhall. One went and asked to borrow the Blue Nixie (and return her recovered funds from the LD) while the rest were resting up, selling loot, checking out the flags in the LD map, and getting ready to set sail. They haven't even told her that Vanthus killed her parents yet. They just immediately made their way to Kraken's Cove.

Now, of course, they're back in town, (mostly, 2 decided to stay behind on the Nixie while the party made haste back to Sasserine to head off Drevoraz and crew) and haven't gotten a chance to chat with her yet, despite the fact that most of them are back in her Manor. They're first being forced to deal with this amphibian infestation. :)

I am planning, however, on having Lavinia pay them VERY well for all they've done. Probably beyond their level max, just because I know they've got a lot of sailing ahead of them with minimal merchant interaction.

I was pretty generous, too. I assumed (I don't know if I'm correct or not) that the 1000 gp bonus it says she gives the PCs was mainly for returning her gold to her. My PCs are definitely ahead of the listed wealth now, but I don't mind that too much. TBG is going to be very tough, I think, and I am going to cut back the treasure in it so that their wealth evens out.

That's a great idea! I'm starting TINH soon (after the PCs finish up an opener quest), and I'm definitely yoinking this if the PCs play it right. First it awards good roleplaying (ie not screwing their employer), and second it is much nicer to get a custom present than it is to just get some boring ol' gold.

Yeah, I wish I'd thought of this.

I liked the idea of having Lavinia grant gifts to the PCs so much, I used it myself. After the PCs handed over the 8600 gp to her she invited them over for dinner. After a suptuous feast, she led the PCs to the Vanderboren library where she gave them each a gift box. The main gifts were magic items that I assumed the Vanderborens had stashed away somewhere (so it didn't force Lavinia to liquidate any of her current assets).

Here's what she gave my PCs:
- Ring of Evasion - given to Jackson (CN male human swashbuckler 3)
- Sash of Resistance - given to Titus (CN male hobgoblin fighter 3)
- Ring of Wisdon +1 - given to Rethgryn (CG male human cleric 3)
- Handy Haversack (which once belonged to her mother) - given to Searos (NG male human druid 1/scout 2)
- Boots of Elvenkind - given to Eol (CG male half-drow ranger 3)

Each PC was also given a finely tailored noble's outfit and 100 gp in coin. They wore the outfit to the celebration sponsored by the Dawn Council the folowing evening.

Though my PCs already like Lavinia, they absolutely adore her now. I think these gifts have cemented a bond of loyalty and respect with them.
