I would like to order a subscription to both mags but seeing all these posts on missing magazines have put the fear in me. I really can't stand paying newsstand prices but would it be a better bet as far as reliablity is concerned? I was a subscriber to Undefeated (great mag btw) when I lived in Europe and never missed an ish. Has it gone down hill from there?

For what it's worth, I have received every issue with no problem. I imagine that this is like anything else and the people you hear from are those with issues while the vast majority of positive experiences in the area stay silent.
I could be wrong, but that is my experience...

I have had one issue(#349, which the Paizinis sent to me after I mentioned it) not arrive but I think that it is the post office and not the good folks at Paizo.

In 6 or more years of subscription, there has only been one iss lost. After posting the prob on this forum, a shiny new replacement came in about 2 weeks.

Go team go! You guys deserve a cookie.

I think the subscription is a good idea. The missing issues are probably the tip of the iceberg, with the vast majority getting their issues with no problem. I`m a subscriber only for the past 1,5 years or so, both Dungeon and Dragon, and had not a single issue missing. Amd I´m living in Europe.

I've been a subscriber for about 18 months now, and was sufficiently pleased that when the time came to renew I took out an additional 3 years of subscription. Paizo have had to order a replacement for one issue of Dungeon and one issue of Dragon for me, which they did without any fuss. Of all the companies I've dealt with, Paizo have the best customer service.

Simply put, I don't think there's anything Paizo could do to improve my satisfaction with their delivery of my subscription.

Edit: In case it's relevant, I live in Scotland. Service to other parts of the world may vary.

I have to agree, me actually subscribing just started three months ago. But between the high cover price (compared to the loads you save by subscribing) and having to worry about getting every issue (I was bad with that), the subsription was the way to go. That way it comes right to my house, so I don't really have to worry about not getting an issue, and it just makes sense to save all that money when you buy them all anyway...

So far so good on the deliveries though. But they seem to be on top of it, if you do actually not get an issue, so just drop them a line and they'll send you another one out.

Liberty's Edge

I've been a subscriber for both Dungeon and Dragon for years, and Paizo has yet to let me down. When an issue of Dungeon disapeared in the postal system, Paizo shipped me a replacement very quickly at no cost to me. Paizo has always given me great customer service and you could do A LOT worse than dealing with them.

To be fair to the situation, bad weather in parts of the U.S. caused all kinds of disruptions with shipping throughout the country, accounting for the number of delayed or missing magazines.

On a personal note, when my subscription to Dungeon was about to expire, I waivered on extending it or not. My girlfriend works for one of the large chain bookstores, and with her employee discount, I can get either magazine cheaper than the subscription price. But, it was a simple gesture by Paizo that prompted me to go ahead with my renewal — they sent me a hand-signed Christmas card. It counts for a lot that they were dedicated and appreciative enough of their customers to sit at a table with a huge stack of cards and sign each one. As long as that is their practice, I'm more than happy to give them my patronage, regardless of the occasional hiccup with my magazine delivery...

I think that the subscriptions are well worth it. Some folks get impatient when the mag doesn't come right away, but even though my mags take anywhere from 2-3 weeks to arrive, they always do. Besides that, Paizo has the best customer service in the business. I have no doubts that if for some reason my subscription missed an issue, that they would send me a replacement pronto. I think all the "negatives" that get posted here, are just a small percentage of the majority. That said, try the subscriptions, you will be happy you did.

I appreciate all of you who posted to my comments. I was pretty sure that it was the iceberg effect...only a small percentage were having the occasional problems. Once again thanks for the comments....SOLD!!!

Thank you all very much!

Lepus,

To (unnecessarily) back up what everyone has already posted, the posts you see here really are just the tip of our subscribership iceberg. Whenever someone has a problem we take it very seriously and do whatever is within our power to reach the best possible outcome. We always want our subscribers and customers to end up happy.

Now, I think I may have to go write a post about my Thief specialized Rouge character somewhere for Fakey to find. He loves that.

Thanks,
cos

~sighs~ If I did not like my local game store so much, I would subscribe. I have never had any problems with what I have ordered, so I have no doubts that the subscription would be a good investment. ~sighs again~ However, so is keeping my local game store up and running. Sorry guys!
