Love that stuff...especially when driving. Trying to figure out the sample before it changes is a fun exercise. Dont remember a Megadeth riff right off the top of my head, but I do NOT doubt there being one in there. I read somewhere that girltalk will sample a single drum hit and loop it, rather than an entire track of drums.

Next week Im seeing Seether and openers Theory of a Deadman. And in a couple weeks it will be Children of Bodom.
Seether totally kicked my ass!
It started with Black Stone Cherry. I saw these guys last year open for Hinder. I love these guys. Drummer stood up the whole time and beat the livin shit out of his kit! Im betting their equipment budget is spent on heads n sticks. They know how to keep a crowd rocking from beginning to end.
Then came Theory of a Deadman. This was the only song I really knew by them (my best friends song of choice as he was getting a divorce). Anyway, as you can tell, their stuff works with delicate guitar and nice vocals...which doesnt transfer well in a live forum. Dude uses two different mics to change from 'clean' to distorted vox, and you really couldnt tell the difference when he switched back n forth. Now, they did do a guys vs girls screaming/shouting match to see who was more crazy and they let the women win and dedicated "Bad F'n Girlfriend" to them, which was kind of funny.
Then came Seether. They keep a droning guitar note going between songs, so there is never any total quiet (till the break before the encore). There were also pieces where Shaun would moan/wail along with the guitar. Really impressive! I know a handful of their tunes and they did a great job of mixing old/new rock/soft (especially the acoustic version of "Broken") etc...made it a total experience! Someone waved a South African flag the whole time and Shaun finally saw it and pointed at it and made a big deal about it while singing...thumbs up, big smile on his face...and the chick pointed back to him, like "Its all for YOU, dude!" Great moment.
Next week or so: Children of Bodom!

Chom 97.7, a classic rock radio station in Montreal. Its "Listen Now" feature is awesoem since it lets me listen to the same music anywhere in the world, and keep tabs on the "local" news. Plus it's classic rock. who doesn't love classic rock? and it gets by the work internet filters.
Song playing right now? The Locomotion.
"You got to swing your hips now!"
"Come on baby, do the locomotion!"

Speaking of beatboxing...
This is what happens when you cram several college pre-froshes and freshmen in an elevator at 1:00 AM. (Skip to about 4:22, and you'll see what I'm talking about. Jeremy Nguyen and Beau Thigpen are hilarious- they were two of the SCAD students I met in June, and were RAs for the July pre-frosh program. This is the end product.)
