It kicked me out again. Ah well, there's always tomorrow. I suppose I should do something sensible, like sleep...

The hoster has notified me that the server the chat room is hosted on feels ill. Expect some downtime soon, though it should not be any longer than half an hour as data is transferred to a new box. I'll post something when I've got some concrete info.

Nooooooooo!!!! Curse you, firewall! CURSE YOOOOOOOUUUUU!!!

I need to decide what to eat for lunch somehow. If I can't use the chat, I will just do Wheel of Lunch in the damn messageboards. It'll be slower, but hey, maybe we'll get more players.

The contestants today are:

McDonalds, Venezia's, Yogi's, Quizno's

Roll 1d4 (in a chatroom, in real life, I don't care) and put whatever number you rolled in a post on this thread. In about a half hour, I'll tally the votes and go to the winner. In the event of a tie, I will arbitrate the championship round myself.

Fatespinner, I rolled a 3.

A 3-way tie! The next vote could potentially decide our winner (or make my championship round even more convoluted).

A 4.

Thanks a lot, TigerDave. I had 80s music going through my head all on the way home, and then I hear this.

Yeah. I knew what I was risking and am waiting for the 'banhammer' to come down any minute now.

What would happen to be the "safe for work" link to the chat room?

Hear ye, hear ye!

Assemble in the chatroom at 11am tomorrow (GMT -8), Friday the 27th. That fixture of lunchtime, the Wheel of Lunch, will be holding its final session, as Fatespinner is moving cross country and may not have access to the chatroom after that time.

So, let us all gather together tomorrow, warm up the chatroom dice, and roll one final time for Fatespinner's Wheel of Lunch.

Week 53

At the next Monday Night Movie Chat:

"Ginger Snaps (2000)" .

She's got the curse.

This film uses werewolfism as a metaphor for puberty. One of the Fitzgerald sisters, suburban goth girl outcasts, gets bitten by something in the woods (and it ain't a neighborhood dog).

Chat Golf:

For each hole, repeatedly roll 3d6 until you get exactly two matching dice.

The number of strokes it takes you from tee-off until sinking the putt is the total number of times you roll 3d6 until you get exactly two matching dice (one pair.) That is, the number of rolls is the number of times you needed to hit the golf ball until you reached the green, and finally sank your putt.

For example, if on your tee-off (the first roll of 3d6) you rolled: 3 5 1, you would need to take another swing. If your next roll was: 4 4 2, then you stop, because you got exactly one pair (two 4’s.) You made a par 2 on that hole – it took you two swings to reach the green and sink your putt – fantastic! Now, move on to the next hole, and start again.

Scoring for each hole is done as follows:
Note: you begin hole 1 with a score of 0.

Par n ( n is the number of rolls you needed ) :
-----------------------------------------
Par 1 (hole-in-one): -3
Par 2 (eagle): -2
Par 3 (birdie): -1
Par 4: +0
Par 5: +0
Par 5+ (boggie): +(X-5), where X is the final number of times you need to roll 3d6 and get exactly one pair (e.g. if you need 8 rolls, that would be +(8-5)= +3).

A MATCH consists of each player playing 9 holes. For each of the 9 holes, each player’s score is calculated/adjusted using the above chart, and the player with the lowest total score WINS !!!

Betting is encouraged..
