Are district feats bonus feats that any character from a particular district will get for free, or are they just new feats that you have to be from that district to take?
Yes. :-)
Seriously, though, they are presented as regular feats that you have to be from that district to take. However, there is a note in there that (if the DM approves, of course) they can be bonus feats, preferably if every character qualifies for one.
So default is standard feat (and even a titch more powerful since they are district-restricted), but there isn't anything unbalancing about them if the party had them for free - as long as they each get one.

Better hope those arent too city centric, since afaik the players wont be around after the second adventure.
And will never see the city again either, except maybe as a trade delegation bringing the goods of the jungle (captured dinos, coral, seashells, spices? Metals? & Other agricultural products etc..) for CASH!
But even that is likely no more than one adventurer, the rest will stay keeping the island progressing, orderly and producing.

They aren't. Quite simply, every one of the District Feats is usable anywhere the adventurers may travel. I really think the Shadowshore Feat is the most powerful one, especially for the rogues it's intended for!

One of my players has asked me what the exact benefits of the Shadowshore District Feat are, and I don't have my copy of the player's guide yet. Could someone please enlighten me? Thanks.

Gwydion's post is just an overview. Hence "exact benefits".
