Just wondering if I'm the only one that thinks that Adventure 4, "Here there be monsters" doesn't just sound like an incredibly fun adventure? As the party and ship's crew move down the coast of the Isle people are picked off one by one by the demon. Most of our group are fans of the movie "Predator" and this adventure sounds similar to that. If they have a native guide I can't wait to have him the give the obligatory speech: "My people tell of a beast that looks like an ape which hunts men and takes them. When it is finished with them it makes trophies of their flesh. We call it 'The Ape that Does Not Die.' Now, it hunts us."
What a great introduction to the Isle!

I too am looking forward to this one and not just because it leads into the one I wrote with PSmedger ;) You've nailed the mood James Jacobs was looking for, Cthulhu_Waits. The writer's notes listed Predator as media inspiration for this one. Bar Igura's are too cool! Imagine if the Predator had the ability to teleport in and fubar one of the soldiers and simply teleport away again. Talk about jumping at shadows.

Yeah, when I read about bar-lguras I saw all sorts of possibility for this adventure. The abduction ability makes for some really cool possibilities.
I think I'll have to try to set up an opportunity for them to find some of the demon's blood, so someone can say "If it bleeds, we can kill it!"
"Tides of Dread" sounds very cool as well. Recruiting allies while the menace of the oncoming pirate fleet looms sounds like a lot of fun.
Funny thing about the villain of this adventure: my current campaign is about a plot of Orcus to turn the PC's world into a layer of the Abyss. The PC's main enemy in the campaign is a human who turns into a half-fiend, then is killed and returns as a death knight. When I read the preview of STAP, I couldn't help but laugh at the similarities.

That reminds of an old gamer friend that had been running D&D campaigns since the time of Moses. In fact, I think Moses might have been one of his players at one time. But I digress. Everytime I had a really cool idea I thought was "new and innovative" that I told him about, his response was invariably, "Seen it done before..."

I was thinking about having a Weapon of Legacy in the AP as well and this adventure seems like a very good place to put it. On their trek the adventures come around a cave overgrown with vines. In the back sits a long forgotten altar to an unknown god. On the altar sits a weapon of alien manufacturing. I'll have to see as we get more details.
