Kyuss + Sphere o' Anihliation + Entropomancer = For The Win?

Age of Worms Adventure Path

Our group's cleric is a Raptoran (Races of the Wild) entropomancer (Complete Divine), terrifyingly powerful, (shadow and mind domains) and has the standard entropomancer fascination with speheres of anihilation.

But we need some help, as she's about to take a side hop to the negative energy plane to play pokemon with these things "Gotta catch em all!"

1. Issue 135 gave good examples of what you can and cant do with a sphere. But here's a question: Would it be possible to store a sphere in a leomunds secret chest? It seems similar to the portable hole example, but also bears similarity to the "its not actually an object" argument. Which is the case?

2. What type of action is the control check for a sphere? Standard, move, or free? It says after control is established, you can move it as a free action, but it doesn't say what type of action establishing control is.

3. The cleric took one level of sorcerer to qualify to use the Talisman, so would the talisman and entropomancer abilities stack, equating a TRIPLE mod of the level+int control check? It's a typeless bonus, so we think it would.

Answers to these would be great, especially from one of the design team. We have a firm rule in our group that we must know the official rules or closest thereof before we begin tweaking and houseruling.

Thanks all!

I'd rule that you can't put a sphere in a Leomund's chest. The portable hole's interior is its own dimension; when you move the portable hole's location, you move the entire dimension inside. The sphere moves along with it because it's in that dimension—it isn't physically moved itself. In the case of the Leomund's chest, though, the inside of the chest and the outside are on the same dimension. When it vanishes into the Ethereal, I'd say that the sphere remains behind on the Material Plane; since the sphere isn't actually an object, a standard container (even one that shifts planes) can't contain it.

I'd say making a control check is a free action, since you can make one in response to someone else trying to control the sphere.

Control checks use 1d20 + character level + character Int modifier. Note that it says character level, not class level. You modify your roll by your actuall full character level, including all class levels. You don't have to be an arcane spellcaster to make a control check to control a sphere, but you do have to be an arcane spellcaster to use the talisman.

Many thanks for the resonses, but my last question wasn't really answered (at least not in terms of what I was asking).

Perhaps to simplify/clarify the question:

Do the benefits of the Talisman of the Sphere and the 10th level Entropomancer ability, which mimics the Talisman's powers, stack? The bonus they provide doesn't seem to have a "type", and the normal rules for multiplication would cause x2+x2=x3 on the control check modifier.

Assuming all neccessary prerequisites for these artifacts/abilities are met, is this the case, or am I interpreting incorrectly? Thanks for your time, whoever replies.

The entropomancer is treated as if he were using a talisman of the sphere. If he also has a real talisman of the sphere, he's treated as having two talismen.

Two talismen don't do any more than one. The entropomancer can just do it without the item and without any risk to himself.

If I had a player in my Age of Worms playing an Entropomancer, I'd not hand out the talisman. It's more special if the player gets to use his prestige class' entire purpose in the final battle, rather than sharing that with someone else who found a random magic item.

But it would suck for the rest of the party if the entropomancer got squashed by Kyuss and they have a sphere floating uselessly in front of them without the talisman to greatly help use it. I'd still hand out the talisman, but say that it makes a very effective bottle opener.

Wait, as I understand it now,
1: Talisman Of The Sphere doubles Arcane levels + Int. score.
2: Entropomancer doubles that Classes levels + Int. score.
3: The Int. score can only be doubled once.
If that is the case then the Talisman can be minor benefit
to the Entropomancer. Just doubling his other Arcane levels.
It still makes sense to have someone with more of an Arcane
focus carry it just in case.
If on the other hand the Talisman of the Sphere doubles
all levels if they have any Arcane levels at all then a
cleric with one level of Wizard is the best person to act
as backup. Get him or her a book +5 and a headband of
Intelect +5 too if possible.
On the other hand, the cleric might be busy countering spells
that would destroy the orb.

What effect will the sphere have on Kyuss? Is it powerful enough to disintegrate a deity, or does it do XdY damage?

half of his hp, does it not? it's not on hand.
