Just curious what others opinions are on being able to perform a trip attack on a wind warrior. Not that such an attack would succeed anyhow given their dex. My opinion is that since they are essentially air elementals and should not be subject to trip attacks.
I think you're opinion is the correct one, Festivus. I haven't read anything that actually states this, but flying creatures as such can't be knocked to ground by knocking them over as you would in a Trip attempt.
However, you may opt to force a Balance check opposed to the attacker's Trip attempt. Failing might result in the flying creature being unable to move that round (see the Balance skill).

Tripping Flyers: A creature flying with wings can be tripped. If the attempt succeeds, the creature stalls and falls 150 feet.
Creatures that fly without wings (and any creature with perfect maneuverability) can't be tripped while flying. If the creature is still in the air after stalling, it must succeed on a DC 20 Reflex save to recover and resume flying. Otherwise it falls another 300 feet. If it hits the ground, it lands prone and takes falling damage.
Straight from the Wizards site.

Presumably they can be tripped while walking or running, though. Fly might save them from being prone, but I'd rule it takes at least a standard action to recover, or they can recover by taking a move action and launching into flight for their minimum distance moved per round, possibly provoking attacks of opportunity.

I don't have their stats on hand, but unless their mental stats are dramatically low, I don't think the wind warriors would ever touch down on the ground, especially given the logistics of the area in which they battle the PCs. Even then, the only reason they'd have to land would be if their land movement is significantly greater than their fly speed--and I can't imagine that being the case, either.
This is one battle in which Trip is unlikely to be a factor.

I had them float up through the hole in and alight on the walkway of the central ring. When the tanks charged, one wind warrior stayed on the walkway and tied down the tanks while the other surprised the spellcasters in the back by taking flight and charging through the air to threaten them. None of the PCs is set up to be especially adept at tripping, though, so none tried it.
Edit: in Gathering of Winds, obviously the wind warriors will not be walking at all.
