Looking for ideas to run while waiting patiently for the next installments. Our group has done the following: Bought and revamped the Abandoned Mine (using the stone to pave the local roads). Bought Dourstone Mine and sealed it with a stone shape spell. Bought the Land Farmstead and sent the nonmining families to tend the fields as our tennents/employees. Opened up an animal training facility. Created a school/youth hostel out of Dourstones home once he was imprisoned. The paladin is thinking of ousting Mayor Neff in a challenge/election of popular vote. They also helped the Lizard Folk move and negotiated the Mist Marsh Accord. I'm running out of ideas!

Man! Your group's busy! Well, you could consider adapting and running other adventures from Dungeon.

It figures that I missed one of the obvious answers! hmm...wondering if Racing the Snake would be a good one to adapt. Perhaps instead of the chase thru a gorge, thru the hillside leading towards the Free City.... The Yuan-ti villian was awesome to roleplay with, so I'd probably keep him.
Any other interesting Adventures that could be meshed with AoW fairly easily?

A modified Return of the Eight would fit in well between A Gathering of Winds and Spire of Long Shadows. Granted this doesn't help right now, but it's something I'm planning for the future...
By modified, I mean Tenser/Manzorian is not dead, merely missing. He got captured by Tuerny while checking and restocking his hidden clone lab. Thus in order to get the audience with Tenser specified in the campaign overview in the Overload, the party first has to rescue him from Tuerny's clutches.

The paladin is thinking of ousting Mayor Neff in a challenge/election of popular vote.
If I'm not mistaken, doesn't the Background: Diamond Lake article say the position of Mayor is appointed by the Ruling Council in the Free City? Could make for some interesting political adventures...

According to "Greyhawk: the Adventure Begins", there are some dwarven ruins in the Mistmarsh. Years ago, a group of Dwarves left Greysmere and headed off into the marsh in search of some magic artifact. They were never seen again. Ruins of a Dwarven keep built on top of a hill deep in the Mistmarsh have been seen however. "The Adventure Begins" doesn't give much more info but it does provide an outdoor map of the hill.
I was thinking of making the whole undergroud place infested with Spawn of Kyuss. Mayhaps a certain black dragon tried a few experiments on the Dwarves before moving on to the Lizard Folk.

For my group, I have already laid the ground work for any side quest they may want to pursue. Here are some suggestions that may help you fellow DMs:
1. The group's Druid is interested in a magical collar, once owned by Smenk, who used it to train his apes. Properties include: Increasing the ability to train an animal like an owlbear while speeding up its aging.
2. The followers of Vecna have been raiding pearl shipments looking for black pearls to create Tiara's of Shadow Binding (Dragon #333) - ties into Dungeon #120 "The Forsaken Arch"
3. An earthquake is reported near the desert far south-west of Diamond Lake (Home brew campaign based) when the ebon aspect is destroyed. The PC's go on a ghost chase following rumours that the black obelisk that appeared in the desert is a place of evil centered around Ethyrnal (Dungeon #120 - "The obsidian Eye")
4. Hints that the Ebon Triad of Hextor, along with the orthodox clergy, are searching for an evil artifact called "The fiend's Embrace" lead the PC's to an obandoned keep in the middle of the mist marsh (Run Dungeon #121 "Fiend's Embrace")
5. The PC's can also follow rumours heard in Diamond lake of unsolved murders in the city of Styles by the Lantern man, which is just north of the Free City (Run Dungeon #121 - "The Syles")

Dungeon #70 has an adventure called "Scaly Things." It pits a group of dopplegangers against a group of lizardmen. This could tie in with Blackwall Keep and Hall of Harsh Reflections.
The PCs probably come to the aid of the lizardmen to rescue their eggs from the dopplegangers. In exchange, the lizardmen agree to call off their attacks on human travelers in the area.
The lizardmen from the Blackwall Keep adventure could ask the PCs to intervene on behalf of their cousins in Scaly Things. It would also give the dopplegangers more reason to hate the PCs in Hall of Harsh Refelctions.

...and that someone is a prophetic mind-reading genius. Thicker Than Water fits like a glove with a character background I've been having trouble rectifying (a fiendish/elemental graft related to Auran creatures). Monte Cook, once again, has some sort of crystal ball focused on my living room 3 years in the future.
