Although I voted for Dungeon and, especially, the Greyhawk maps (which I still have to get another two of...), I must agree with Monte on the issue of small vs. large company disparity in the awards.
It seems hardly fair to pit small publishers up against Paizo.
And it's unfair to pit Paizo against Wizards of the Coast and White Wolf.
Right?

I say give them all chicken feathers and let them fight it out!
(Dungeon gets my vote!)

Except I didn't actually see WotC nominated for any of the same awards as Paizo. ;)

Yeah, I kept looking for WotC on the ballots after reading that.
And to think his underdog post made me feel momentarily guilty for having a whitish wolfish avatar.

Congrats to Erik and the rest of the Paizo crew for their five nominations! :D
As one of the smaller nominated publishers (Different Worlds published Valus, nominated for Best Writing and Best Campaign Setting), I don't feel too worried about being pitted against WW, Green Ronin, or the other publishers: while our advertising budgets and distribution aren't in the same league as the medium to large publishers, our products still got noticed and nominated, and therefore still have a chance to win (*fingers crossed*).

SERIOUSLY, Valus seemed quite impressive and the Tarn Cal sketch wowed me even more than the reviews.
As for another of your products: I couldn't get a handle on that Child Eater game, but with a title like that, color me intrigued. I guess child eating is still considered a bad thing in that game?

Who nominates these things? There are many of these products that I haven't seen, but the ones that I have just seem out of kilter.
Best Cover? Paizo has many covers better than those presented on both Dungeon and Dragon. (Though the Iron Kingdoms one that only got Honorable Mention is good)
Best Cartography? Paizo looks to blow all of these I have seen away.
Interior Art? I haven't seen the interior of any of those, but unless both White Wolf and the Arcana Evolved stuff is significantly better than their previous products this would be hands down to Paizo in my book as well.
Production Value? Not sure exactly what they mean by this, but if this is a bang for you buck thing then Dungeon and Dragon magazines easily blow these away!
Best Adventure? This one gets me the most. The first time we see Paizo on the list and it has, in my opinion, the worst adventure they have done in a while... all dungeon crawl and no adventure. (I know, I know, it was very well received... I still found it one of the most boring Dungeon reads and since my players don't enjoy extended dungeon crawls won't likely ever play it) In my opinion you could have thrown a stone at a stack of Dungeons and gotten better adventures than these.
Best Free Product? Have they not seen the cartography on the downloadable supplements that go with each Dungeon? You don't need to buy it to get these.
Ok... ok... I could keep going, but I would just be reiterating myself. I am fairly confident that I can not use the Ennies to help determine what I should check out and buy. It's like the movie awards that rarely choose what I agree as good and so are useless to me.
Once again... who nominates these?!?!

One quick note here. Paizo was nominated in this category for the 4-part Greyhawk map. So vote for it! :)
One other general note. We only submitted one item in each category, in each case we submitted the product that we thought had the best chance of winning.

Can you enlighten us with a brief description of how one goes about nominating?
I'm asking 'cause of a particular fansite which has missed out being nominated every year.

You can read all about the process here.

"Production Quality" might be a more accurate name for what they're going for there, I think.
For example, most people would say a 416-page, full-color, hardcover adventure with a double-sided foldout poster and a 24-page map book insert has a very high production value, regardless of the price or even the manufacturing cost of the item.

Actually, The Return of Ippizicus Child-Eater is a d20 module set in the Valus setting. Sorry for the confusion: we printed a limited edition for GenCon last year, and are about sold out (we'll be printing an edition with a better cover soon).
