Holy Cow! That cover art is some of the best I've ever seen! I am in awe of the sky ripping apart in the background and the sheer size and force of movement conveyed!!!
Is there any way this cover art could be made availabe as a desktop wallpaper or some sort of hi-res image? It'd be a great way to promote the inaugural issue of Dungeon's second adventure path.
By the way, who did that piece?

![]() |

We will indeed have one installment of Age of Worms each issue, starting with issue #124 and ending with issue #135.
Any idea when we (as DMs) will see a outline of the plot for this campaign? I am not sure if you or Erik was the one who promised one awhile back. Either way any idea when this should be out and if it is going to be a pdf or in the mag?

![]() |

We're still scrambling to figure out how best to provide the campaign outline. It's difficult to fit into the magazine itself (didn't fit in 124, for example), and I'm unsure I want to just put it online and theoretically cheat people who don't have regular access to a computer (say, prisoners or soldiers).
I'm working on it, and you'll know probably by the end of the week, and certainly by the time 124 arrives.

-***- I...am...almost...speechless!
How in the nine hells can someone be abel to draw such a cover?!
My god, that pic looks really EPIC! Man, I can't wait to read the first Worms-Installement.
PLEASE - give us a single download with this cover art inside, in the highest resolution you can manage ;)
I wonder what quality the inside maps will have...
Here in germany (about 20km from my house) is a city which is called - believe it or not - WORMS. No joke ;)

WORMS - didn't Martin Luther participate in some kind of Diet of Worms there? I think it was him. . .
Anyway, Wayne Reynolds is really increadible. If you were to flip thorugh the pages of any WOTC publication and pick out your favorite 5 illustrations in any of them, I would bet that at least 3-4 of your favorites were penned by him.

I cannot speak for prisoners, but I can say for sure that is is very rare these days for a soldier not to have regular access to the internet, even in Iraq. Hence my ability to post this. The cover art is indeed awesome, and now that we have the guarantee that there will be one installment every month until the AP's conclussion, I just may run it for my group over here. Thank you for a wonderful magazine, and for the many to come.

I think it's going to be tough for me NOT to run AP2 while in grad school. We'll see if I can resist. I've been off from DMing since I started grad school and have been enjoying playing, but AP2 might just throw a wrench in those plans.
Also, I look forward to seeing what sort of SOMETHING Dungeon will be doing with that cover art. I certainly hope "something" includes making it available as a desktop wallpaper...

Great Green God |

Aside form the art (I think Wayne has outdone himself), I like the less wordy cover design as well. I certainly hope the sales for the issue bear both points out (i.e. Wayne is great and that you can still be eye-catching with just one banner).
Course there is also the Chambers of Antiquities, the start of the Age of Worms, part two of the Eberron mini-path and all the rest of the goodness that is Dungeon to buy it for as well.
Hmmm. A sequel to Maure, AP Two, part two of the Eberron path, do I detect a pattern? Chris I think you are right this. It is a backlash against a possible "final nail" so to speak in that oft' re-edited movie franchise. A set of well-penned sequels to drown out what could be an ill-written/directed prequel.
Hell, I might buy the mag twice! After which I might take in a matinee or dollar show or just wait for the final gold edition re-dubbed version with THX smello-vision 2.7 to hit my local network, or maybe not.
Han Shot First, and I have the tape to prove it!

I guess I didn't realize the whole issue was overstuffed with sequels. . . that's interesting in itself...
I have my ticket for midnight tonight. We shall see. Can Green Dragons fit into a movie theatre? Do they serve tubs of buttered halfling bits?
Incidentally, do you have sequels planned for your Dungeon submissions, G-cubed... you might need them... :)

"A set of well-penned sequels to drown out what could be an ill-written/directed prequel."
Heh. I actually enjoy the newer movies a lot more than the older ones in general, but I think that comes from seeing them first as an adult and not a child, which takes nostalgia out of the equation. ;)
I really get into the incredible action and world design. Star Wars is all about frenetic fight/chase scenes and amazing alien vistas for me. The older films come up a bit short on those fronts by comparison (no fights that compare to the one with Maul and no planets that can catch the wow factor of Coruscant or Kamino), although they're kinda fun in their own way.
I'd rank the first five like this:
1. Phantom Menace
2. A New Hope
3. Attack of the Clones
4. Empire Strikes Back
5. Return of the Jedi
With will probably take the #2 or #3 slot after I see it tomorrow, based on the spoilers I've seen.
I might have a totally different opinion if I had grown up with the older movies, though.

"But...but...Jar-jar!"
His constant verbal and physical abuse during the film always makes me smile. Electrocuted, blown-up and bashed in the crotch not once, but twice. Pretty sweet.
As the archetypal annoying spastic geek, he almost (almost...) strikes me as the writer's commentary on the kind of hardcore Star Wars fanboys who usually prefer to think of themselves more as Boba Fett types. I can't count the times some fan has lectured me on why Jar Jar is terrible, while all the while being blissfuly ignorant that he possesses every quality Jar jar does except eyes on stalks (they even have the orange coloration, thanks to abundant Cheeto dust). :)

LOL... oh Yamo, Yamo! You should be a lawyer... You are far too intelligent for your own good. I am SO stealing your Jar-Jar analogy for use with my friends.
Very funny. . . and the best pro-Jar Jar argument I've ever heard.
(officially, I disagree with you on your rankings... I'll take the quiet dignity of Yoda and the character growth/interactions of Empire Strikes Back over Darth Maul's gymnastics and a bunch of wicked-cool space battles any day ... but again, that's just personal taste)
Oh yeah... to keep this post relevant... Wayne Reynolds is a force of nature, who must have made a deal with some minor diety to get his powers.

Epic is indeed the word for this cover.
though i have to ask...isn't the adventure level 1? ;) does the art relate to this instalment or AP2 on the whole?

At some point in the Age of Worms Adventure Path, the party will fight giant green worms.
Please keep that a secret so as not to spoil anything for players or DMs.

Nah, Erik is just pulling your leg. What's really going to happen is that your players' characters get turned into giant green worms and have to fight the new additions to the Dungeon iconic party.

Ahh, you're wrong as well - In order to get the most out of the AP2, your players have to play Giant Green Worms! ;)

There's going to be a Drow in the new iconic party?
A time of Woe is upon us. The Age of Worms is here. When the dust is finally cleared away, and the Loremaster is brought in for a translation, what will be read in the Tablets of Kyuss about this final, prophetic warning? In horror, we read it together, and know that the final sign has already come to pass, ensuring the world to a future of unending darkenss:
"There's a Drow in the party and the people of Diamond Lake seem to have no trouble with him staying at the local Inn."
Doom. . . doom. . . doom. . .

The cover art on DUNGEON #124 is truly splendid. However, the typesetting fits excellently as well, with DUNGEON in lurid green, and the new Adventure Path logo, once again in lurid green with a sort of kryptonite glowing effect :) I like that logo, why isn't it on the poster map of Diamond Lake?
On the subject of typesetting, page 15, the first page of The Whispering Cairn, reminded me of something. Then I put my finger on it. The off-white/cream coloured eldritch styled font looked just like the old cover style on the compiled T1 to T4, The Temple of Elemental Evil. I assume this was a deliberate little touch, and a nice one. Mr Mona and Mr Jacobs do seem to have their little Greyhawk ways :) Unless of course it wasn't deliberate, in which case it's just me being a mental. Will Darlene let us (Okay, me) know if this old classic was an inspiration?
As an aside from the cover the whole adventure thing looks rather good as well, I have just skimmed at this point but it seems suitably impressive, with a tie in to DRAGON #333 as well. However, Chamber of Antiquities looks brilliant as well (and will hopefully not be overlooked in the AP2 feeding frenzy). One thing that did occur to me, as I am running Adventure Path: Shackled City at the moment and they just finished Life's Bazaar, is the new Hardback really appeals as everything is going to be in one easily referenced place. Of course, Age of Worms is going to be the exact opposite, in 12 issues of DUNGEON, at least one of DRAGON, and presumably in about a dozen online web enhancements. Another hardback will be required :) Oh well, I'm sure we'll all cope :)

"There's a Drow in the party and the people of Diamond Lake seem to have no trouble with him staying at the local Inn."
I seriously doubt that's where he's staying...not in a town with churches of both Heironeous and St. Cuthbert present. And then, there's Ellival Moonmeadow's clan. One of these three groups (probably all, strange bedfellows, eh?) would probably have something to do with running him out of town, if not worse (from his point of view, at least).
No, this dark elf is probably one of Smenk's minions...set up in a posh wing of suites in the Dourstone Mine...called upon only to stand in the background at those merger negotiations that would benefit from an extra bit of intimidation...quite a bit, in this case.

The Bard may be the easiest class for a surface Drow. As least we can forgive his presence as long as he has some Alter Self spells available.
Still, it might as well be a Githyanki. . . or a Yeti.

Trusting/forgiving the drow most often leads to character generation...Not knowing it was drow in the first place, well, that frequently leads you to the same place sooner or later (wherther you ever know it or not).
Still, it might as well be a Githyanki...or a Yeti.
...or an Asperi, a kaorti, an odopi, or an Air (Earth, Fire, or Water) Genasi...

What are you smoking? The best two characters in Phantom Menaced got whacked (why didn't they kill Jar Jar instead). Maul didn't have enough screen time and the kid that play Annie couldn't act his way out of a paper bag. Very cool pod racing sceen and the light-saber fight was awesome, but Phantom Menance was the weakest of the six. Attack of the Clones was better and the first 20 minutes and last 20 minutes of Revenge of the Sith was awesome-but some of the acting and script between Anikan and the Princess was atrociously horrid!
Empire was my favorite because they took this massive battle between good and evil and made it very personal with Vader vs Luke. Besides, how can you beat the line, 'No Luke, I am your father'! I'd rate them:
1. Empire
2. Jedi
3. New Hope
4. Revenge
5. Clones
6. Phantom
Just MHO! :-)
