Sean Reynold’s has, IMO, done a fantastic job with the Demogorgon adventure. I love the background. I love the way he imagines Demogorgon. I love the use of apes. It reminds me of good ol Gorilla Grod (Flash) and the Red Ghost et al. (FF), always quirky villains. I’m also reminded of Thak from REH’s Conan story Rogues in House, one of my favorites. I can’t recall another ‘ape adventure’ quite like Demogorgon. Nice use of Demogorgon’s motif too. All around a class act.
Having said that, the Pazuzu adventure is very nice on its own terms but suffers from comparison. I’d love to see SKR take a run at Pazuzu. IMO, Pazuzu is another difficult demonlord to get a good grip on. The included adventure was good but no Demogorgon.
While I’m on the topic, how about a Bahomet or Kostiechie adventure? Some of the lesser known of the major demon lords could use the SKR treatment.

When I wrote it I had a max word count of 15,000 words, and if I broke that, Erik would kill me _and_ my character. ;) With all of the spellcasters involved in the adventure, that meant big stat blocks that ate up a lot of word count, so I didn't have anything to spare to cover more about Irongate. Plus the adventure wasn't really in Irongate; if it was, I'd certainly write more info on it (you're talking to the guy that is partially responsible for making the 2E Slavers and Against the Giants: The Liberation of Geoff adventures more like sourcebooks than straightforward adventures.

What made this adventure most appealing was this:
Stats for various types of awakened apes. You can say what you like, but those were more useful than just about anything else.
The rules for advancing creatures desperately require a chart that isn't there, so this was like a godsend, considering that I'm currently running my own adventure with giant apes.
So...why apes?
Well, apes sell more. I kid you not. Research done by comic book companies in the 1950's, for some reason, proved that comic books that involved apes, all other factors being equal, sold three times as well as those without.
So, the comic book companies agreed that each could only have a certain number of ape stories each year.
Well, Dungeon has no competition. Every issue should, therefore, have apes.

This was an awsome adventure. My party had so much fun, and the Cleric is getting so flustered. The previous adventure we ran into an isolated CG Hobgoblin town that wanted to learn about Heironious and he got the teaching job. Then, to help a Death Knight return to the living was just precious.
The first time they ran into an ape they were like..."a what? What's attacking us? Are you serious? He's wearing what? An armored ape?..." We had so much fun.
That was one of the best adventures we'd had with our current characters.

By the way, I found a Todd McFarlane figure of a giant ape-creature that would be cool for one of the monsters in this adventure, if you're not into painting minis:

In a similar vein, Mezco Toys has an ape figure coming out soon in their Hellboy collection. Kriegaffe Number 10 with the floating head of Nazi scientist Herman Von Klempt. It's a more techno look, but still...Giant Nazi Monkey!
