![]() Just finished watching Adam Curtis's "The Century of Self" part 3, for like the 4th or 5th time. At 52:25min in, the questions are asked. "What do you want?"
For pathfinder Online, I want what I can't seem to find in the real world.

![]() These are all actual lessons and phrases.
"To defeat a monster, give it what it wants, and then run like hell."
"A nation without heroes is a cursed land."
Do good deeds in secret. If the penalty for committing a crime is death, who dares be a criminal? When you go after the king, make sure you kill him. And always tell the exact opposite of the truth. -Vladimir Lenin The illegal we do immediately, the unconstitutional takes a little time. -Henry Kissinger ![]()

![]() RE: My Personal Dungeon
If I want to kill paladins, I want to do it right. With an illusion of a mummy holding a obsidian short sword in 2 hands above an unconscious thinly dressed damsel, on a altar.
"You see the Paladin charge forward and suddenly fall into the floor. Suddenly there is an Obscuring Mist blocking sight, and you immediately hear a nearby splash where the paladin disappeared." Death by swirly. ![]()

When Diablo 2 came out, I was hyped for Diablo3 for 2 years. But it took like 10 years. And I have yet to play Diablo3. Since this'll be a year and a half before a beta, how will ye keep up the hype? Would like to see more Q&A videos, and Demos. ![]()

Is there any reason I couldn't set up a few Glyphs of Warding in my favored area, then let my allies attack and then lead them to that spot? "Who put this spike growth here? And what's with the deeper darkness?" ![]()

So I don't want to get a criminal or attacker flag. But I want to hamper an operation/organization. What can I get away?
Have my pet attack?

![]() Crafting a niche. Scene1: The PC's are born and raised into a kingdom where they were taught and indoctrinated that there was "The Evil Empire" that was always out to do them harm. Scene2 (Aside): An aristocracy of undead Vampires, control a kingdom thru domination and force. Scene3: The city the PC's are in is besieged with siege weapons, and an army is at the gates. Once or twice a day a catapult stone hits a building somewhere. Scene4: The mayor Vampire is talking to a foreign diplomat, "That was the deal, we sell you siege weapons, and you attack us with the weapons we sell you. We pay your armies to attack, and we earn our money by taxing our peasants outrageously to pay for the war. I don't care who dies, as long as we have our system of control." Scene5: The PC's have proven themselves to be the greatest heroes in the militia, and are given a special forces mission. To stop "The Evil Empire" from acquiring more siege engines. When they discover a clue, that all the siege engines were built in their kingdom. Scene6: An old man sits in a wheel chair, in the darkness of shadows and says "Well how goes it?"
Scene 6.5 A panoramic shot of the Palace takes place. "This is the Order of Our Holy Empire." And the camera angle now shows that the old man wears the rich robes of a high priest. I just wanna make and sell siege engines... :) ![]()
![]() Actually, the Dual Cursed ability is the most powerful I've ever seen in pathfinder. Misfortune (Ex): At 1st level, as an immediate action, you can force a creature within 30 feet to reroll any one d20 roll that it has just made before the results of the roll are revealed. The creature must take the result of the reroll, even if it’s worse than the original roll. Once a creature has suffered from your misfortune, it cannot be the target of this revelation again for 1 day. Used most often when other players fail Diplomacy, or Disable Device, or when bad guys make will saves, or confirm crits. Control Undead 8/day + Undead master is the 2nd most powerful ability, as it allows me to Control up to 4 Ghasts. (We had 2 lacedons defeat a Naga, with paralyze.) Finally, Animate dead+Remove Paralysis = Fast Zombies. +spirit vessels
If Pathfinder Online takes off with Mass Combat rules, in formations, it'd be really neat to see what 1/2 dozen necromancers can do with a wall of undead beasts. ![]()
![]() I don't think PC's should need to eat. It can be assumed in a 1sp/day upkeep cost. But if the PC's found a settlement of a Large City, 10,001 - 25,000 pop...
@1sp/day/pop that's 1000 - 2500gp exchanging hands /day. In the US. There's like 6 major Food Corporations that Control almost all the food supply.
It might be quite profitable for PC's to control that kind of resource. ![]()
![]() What would Alexander the Great "Necromancer" do? "You can keep your aristocracy if you follow our ways!"
Attacks: A zombie retains all the natural weapons, manufactured weapon attacks, and weapon proficiencies of the base creature. It also gains a slam attack that deals damage based on the zombie's size, but as if it were one size category larger than its actual size (see Natural Attacks). ![]()
![]() Grappled creatures cannot make attacks of opportunity.
does the -4 penalty to dexterity stack with the -2 to combat maneuver checks? so you'd have a -4 CMD? if a dire bear is grappling a PC. And another PC bull rushes the bear, away from the grappled PC, does that break the grapple? ![]()

Ok, I'll go with that. No AoO, for sliding down adjacent squares. Seems there's a little difference from a 2nd edition grease spell, and pathfinder. Would the PCs slide down the slope at all? If the PC's do slide down the slope, into a square already occupied with pirates, the pirates in those squares obviously get AOO. It'd be like a very botched overrun. ![]()
![]() Scene: 3rd level PC's have moored their ship to the pier. Arrived on Pirate Island. The walk up a steep 80' steep slope, to the Large Pirate Building. Pirates are in a building at the top of the slope. The door is slightly ajar, and the pirates are hiding with full cover. When the PC's enter within 30'. The make perception checks dc23.
5 Pirate, Sailor CR 1/2 +1 Cleric1/Bard1 +1 Barbarian1/Cleric1 (Besmara)
Their tactics are don't let the Pcs gain the higher ground, but 5' downhill for a flank. Initiative is rolled. Pirates surround the PC's. While the PC's are somewhat still in their formation.
Do the Pirates get AOO while the PC's slide down between them? Steep Slope: Characters moving uphill (to an adjacent square of higher elevation) must spend 2 squares of movement to enter each square of steep slope. Characters running or charging downhill (moving to an adjacent square of lower elevation) must succeed on a DC 10 Acrobatics check upon entering the first steep slope square. Mounted characters make a DC 10 Ride check instead. Characters who fail this check stumble and must end their movement 1d2 × 5 feet later. Characters who fail by 5 or more fall prone in the square where they end their movement. A steep slope increases the DC of Acrobatics checks by 2. ![]()

![]() I love the idea of the Create pit spell! That would be perfect. But do the PC's have to be able to see the area of the pit from where they are? What I'm really trying to ask here... Is, say a really tough fighter climbs the ladder. He can't move into a space because it's occupied by hostile opponents. His back up is kinda pinned down, and now because they're behind him he can't really retreat. He climbs at 1/4 speed.
When he can finally climb up the last of the ladder and step into the fallen villains spot, provoking 1 AOO, and insuring there will be 3 bull rush attempts on him next turn. Can he do any cool fighter stuff? Like a 1 handed, Reposition the bad guy off the ledge from the ladder? Or a grapple, then move the target off the edge? Or even a drag, and they both fall off? Would the bad guys get some cover from these kind of attacks?
Because if an 18str level 3 fighter wants to reposition you, and you don't have a some way of slowing him down, you go where he wants you to go. Does he provoke an AOO, every round while climbing from up to 2 villains for maintaining his climb? Is it easier to reposition someone while climbing on a ladder than being prone? Because it's going to come up sooner or latter. Here's climbing in a nutshell. You need both hands free to climb, but you may cling to a wall with one hand while you cast a spell or take some other action that requires only one hand. While climbing, you can't move to avoid a blow, so you lose your Dexterity bonus to AC (if any). You also can't use a shield while climbing. Anytime you take damage while climbing, make a Climb check against the DC of the slope or wall. Failure means you fall from your current height and sustain the appropriate falling damage. ![]()
![]() Scene: 5 Villains are up a 20' ledge, 10' x 15' Raining down Ranged touch spells, and arrows, on the PCs. The PC's are on a 5 ft 10inch wooden walkway that leads both to the ledge with the villains and away from it. If the PC's don't want to have Spellcasters in their back ranks pick them off a ledge like playing the Atari game Carnival... How do the PC's climb up the ladder and fight the villains? ![]()
![]() Why not carry a Darkwood Tower shield 45lb 1/2 weight = 22.5lb. For a small sized creature 1/2 weight = 11.25lb.
Or maybe cast floating disk, and have several Tower Shields tied together around it, with a tower shield tied to the base of the disk, so you could stand on it, and you have a floating barricade. You can hide with cover +10 stealth! Then have your invisible wizard move towards the enemy, with the floating disk barricade following closely behind.
