Heck yes! That's just...wow. I like it. A LOT.
I don't know if it was broadcast here in the US, to be honest... And I believe, but am not 100% sure, that they had to negotiate something to include it on the DVD set. Again, not 100% sure. I'm sure one of the posters here who frequents the (former?) OG forum could say....I used to post there but haven't been there since the middle/end of Series 2.
I don't know that they can do Time Crash...that was sort of specially commissioned by Children in Need, and there may be clearance issues. They (the BBC) can't make anything off Time Crash, because it was for charity. Likely it'll either have 10 minutes cut from it (that's my guess), or they'll find something else to pad out the slot when it airs...like 19 minutes of promos for their latest made for TV movie about giant crocodiles or something...

d: Other. My players have gamed with me since the early-mid 1990's. Most of us started out with 1E or 2E AD&D. I never bought a single 3E/3.5E D&D book (though I am asking for Greyhawk and the Demonweb Pits hardcovers just for info purposes). I have continued to run a heavily house ruled 1E/2E mix. And I'll likely be continuing to do so. It's what my players have asked for, and it is what I enjoy. Yeah, it's a very late reply, but it's mine.
DICE RACING: Use a checkerboard. 4 players max place their tokens on alternate rows. Object is to move token to the end of the board, sideways one, and then back on adjacent row to the first row. A d6 determines movement of spaces per turn. Wagers made prior to commencement of game. IN BETWEEN: Roll 3d20, 2 white and 1 of a different colour. Player must roll between the 2 white dice with the coloured die. Equaling a number is a loss. If 2 white dice equal each other, the loss is automatic. Odds are always 5-2 before dice are cast. A crooked house might paint 11 sides of a die black and only 9 red. That's all the gambling games in the DMG appendix. Hope this helps! I love my 1E DMG.
Zowie slot variant: 3d8 1 roll only, wager made prior to roll. Table below weighted toward house, DM may of course devise own table: 1 LEMON
6-6-1 PAYS 2-1
Dice games part deux: Slot variant: 3d6 1 roll only, wager made prior to roll. Table below weighted toward house, DM may of course devise own table: 1 LEMON
6-6-1 pays 2-1
Card games now: Twenty-One: a 52 card deck is used, each player betting against the house (DM). 2 cards dealt to each player and dealer. Players in turn elect to take add'l cards up to a total og 5. Over 21 automatically loses, hands of 5 cards under 22 auto win double wager (exception: dealer). Ties go to house. Aces count 1 or 11, called at beginning of turn. Face cards count 10, numbered cards as marked. Dealer must take hit under 17, cannot take card on 17 or higher (not per Hoyle). Dealer gets cards last, bets made after 1st 2 cards dealt. If player has a natural pair he may double down, asking for 2 additional cards, betting on both as separate hands. House always retains the deal. High-Low: Each player gets 2 cards face down. Prior to dealing, some stake placed in pot. After looking at cards, each player turns 1 up and the player with highest up bets (3 raise limit suggested). Each player has option to change his or her up card for a fresh one from the deck. This takes place 3 times going round the table, with betting interval between rounds. 2 is low, ace is high. Object is to have highest hand (a pair on down) to a 2-3 (lowest possible hand, followed by 2-4, 3-4, 2-5, 3-5, 4-5, 2-6, 3-6, 4-6, 5-6, 2-7 and so on). High and low hands split the pot evenly, odd money going to high. Other gambling games can be devised on principles of colours, shapes, position or whatever. More dice games to follow.
Page 215, 1E DMG with the Efreeti cover: Craps: shooter wins on first roll of 7 or 11, loses 2, 3, 12. Otherwise shooter rolls untilt he first number rolled is rolled a second time - a win - or a 7 is rolled - a loss. Shooters bet before rolling Side bets made as applicable Horse: 1st roller determined by whatever means desired. 5d6 used, 6 high, 1 low. Lowest to highest hands are: pair, 2 pair, 3 of a kind, straight (1-5 or 2-6), full house (triplet and pair), 4 of a kind, 5 of a kind. 1st roller may roll once or twice. If only once, all other players may only roll once to beat him/her. If 2 rolls, player may retain none, 1, 2, 3, or 4 of the dice. Winner becomes the boss. Knucklebones: Craps type game, object is to score highest total. Variant allows a second roll by the first shooter, retaining none or one of them. If so, then all other players may do the same. Winner rolls first. More to follow.
I've downloaded the main rules set, with is somewhat less important to me because I still have all my old 1E hardcovers, though it is a welcome addition to my digital reference library. But is there anyone out there who has any of the OSRIC modules or whatever who can give me some info on what the product is like? I'm still running a bastardised 1E/2E campaign (because it's what my players crave) and am looking for more modules and material I can use/manipulate/adjust/rework/whatever in my campaign. Thanks in advance!
On my WIndows98 machine, I use WinZip. It's shareware, but you can continue to use the product beyond the evaluation period without it becoming feature limited. It's a good program though, and well worth paying for. On my XP machine, I use WinRAR, and love it. This one I paid for and don't regret at all. Your choice, but consider this a vote for both programs as easy to use and worthy of consideration.
Level 15, just finished the quest for the Holy MacGuffin. I'm just grinding levels right now...I have the Mysterious Island of Mystery War to start, and then the NS quest, and then ascension. I'm trying to figure out what to do with the app. 150,000 meat I'm holding in my closet. Oh, and earning trophies...3 so far, with 2 more on the horizon. Fun times!

I'm not sure if they still do, but Milford NJ used to celebrate it. DOn't ask me why, outside of them having a "British" style brew pub in town. Then again, in Frenchtown NJ (where I live) we celebrate Bastille day every year.

I'm looking forward to picking up a gargantuan sized Orcus, but does this mean that Demogorgon will now be collosal? (And no savage tide spoilers in your responses, please.) My Google-Fu is apparently at the laundromat along with my clothes...have you got a link to a pic I could see?
It's awfully standard for people to pick Tom Baker as their favourite...of course, he played the role the longest, and here in the US, he's likely the best known (and for many, there was no other Doctor). That said, the first Doctor Who serial I ever saw was a Sylvester McCoy one, and I like his portrayal (especially as they seriously darkened his character in the final season) a good bit. After him...oh, tough this. Honestly I'd say either Patrick Troughton (just got the 8-parter The Invasion a week or two ago, with the two animated recons for the missing two parts, and it's brilliant) or Jon Pertwee. Something about the shift from cosmic hobo to crusty aristocrat was very cool for me.

Well, I mostly have been lurking here for the past 2 months or so as the campaign I was running took a long vacation due to members involved in SCA and RealLife (tm), but as things are gearing back up, I'm back on and stuff. In any event... I, too, am on LJ, and as I can't yet figure out how to do the embedded link here, here's where mine is: http://prjt2501.livejournal.com/ Feel free to add...
Just finished watching last week's "The Lazarus Experiment." I must admit, for an episode I was particularly dreading, this went over rather well. I was horridly put off by the return to Earth in S1 with Rose, and the sudden change in dynamic of the show, but this episode went over rather well. This season continues to feel dark for me, and that's a good thing, as for me the show was at its best when it was darker. Very curious and intrigued about this week's "42."
Wow, a Doctor Who thread here. WIll wonders never cease! I have yet to watch this past week's episode (The Lazarus Experiment), tho I have seen the five previous ones. Series 3 has been darker and more dialed back than last year's series, which was one of the weakest ones in my opinion. Really glad to see Tennant being a bit more restrained in general and not as panto.

I've never really worried about upkeep type situations; if it looks like my players will be residing in an area for an extended period of time (e.g., they've now been in Hommlet (T1-4) for around 2 calendar months), I find ways for them to earn their keep without having to worry about "OK, time to re-up your room rental for another week, that'll be..." and so on. While it may create an air of entitlement in the short term, I think it'll develop into creating some interesting role playing situations in the future. Having said all of this, had I realised that there'd be a 1 month layoff in gaming, I'd have come up with something to lighten their purses somewhat...just to maybe motivate things. Oh well...20 years on and still learning...

But but but...does that mean there won't be any posting of the material in 1E rules? :-( As someone still running a campaign based on 1E rules (for the most part), it'd thrill me to no end to see new material in that format...

Talking about this thread around the table as we played, my wife and our friend (the only current other long term gamer I'm running the current campaign for) both agreed with the Mud Sorcerer's Tomb. I believe we even used it as a jumping off point to toss the characters for a session or two into Melnibone to meet with a certain weak drugged albino worshiper of Arioch...
