A problem with a download.

Customer Service

On order number 683617, made Saturday, I fouond a great deal of trouble downloading "A Touch of Evil Volume 2: Hobgoblins (d20) PDF". I saved a copy of the .zip file to my machine only to find that Windows refuses to open it. It is "Blocked". I followed the instructions given in the Help database and found them ineffective. I then tried to open the file for direct viewing and found that the file created 0 objects to view. What's the deal there? I was under the impression that an 8.7 mb download would have a bit more than the .zip file icon to it.

Help the computer idiot in me figure this out please.

Thank you.

We've had a number of users complain about Windows "blocking" some files, but not others. In every case, the answer has been to try a different unzipping utility.

I am less than familiar with what is available as far as another unzipping utility goes. Any suggestions?

Assuming that you are using a windows machine: I've had good results from WinRar, and WinZip has been around for a long time.

Disclaimer:
I gotta put one of these in since this is a personal suggestion and not necessarily a Customer Service solution...
Keep in mind that these are both decompression utilities that I have used. This is, in no way, a guarantee that that will be the solution for your particular system. I expect that you will have good results from them nonetheless.

On my WIndows98 machine, I use WinZip. It's shareware, but you can continue to use the product beyond the evaluation period without it becoming feature limited. It's a good program though, and well worth paying for.

On my XP machine, I use WinRAR, and love it. This one I paid for and don't regret at all.

Your choice, but consider this a vote for both programs as easy to use and worthy of consideration.

I've been having similar problems. The free WinZip trial download solved it.
It still does something weird if I click 'open' when I'm downloading, so opt for 'save' and then open it up once it's on your machine.

I have been thoroughly unable to prove there is a file beyond the icon for a zipped file. I am still getting "blocked" messages when trying to open the file directly from the website. After downloading it, my machine doesn't even register that there is anything beyond the frame of the file. I am stumped because all attempts, even with WinRAR are not working. I am coming to the conclusion that I should try to write something better myself, since anything I write must be better than the nothing I seem to have purchased. :[
