Much like the previous campaign I ran, I have asked my group if they would be interested in writing character journals for the RoW campaign that we are currently underway.
As before, character posts are optional, but bribes of special re rolls will be granted for players contributing.
Link to previous Campaign Journals.

Summary of story so far:
While on a pilgrimage to Zimar, the Cleric of Gozreh, Elsbeth, stumbled upon a man unconcious in the road, suffering from what appeared to be frostbite. She loaded him up onto her mule, and carted him to the nearby town of Heldren for help. Passing the village Armoury, Apothecary, and Temple, she stops outside the tavern, where she drags the unconscious man inside after shoving him off the mule. Sybbl (Fighter and Guinevere (Ranger) come over and help her bring the man to the armouries, while Morgana (alchemist) fetches the town priest and Zasha (witch) the wise woman. After dropping him off, they all make their way to the Silver Stoat tavern, where they have a few drinks. After a bit, they are summoned to the Armouries to speak with the now conscious man, Yuln, who informs them that the caravan he was guarding was attacked and Lady Argentea was kidnapped by bandits. he asks them to rescue her, giving his cold iron longsword to Sybbl.

The party spent the night in Heldren, split between the Silver Stoat and Sybbls rented house. They awoke early the next morning and made their way to the site of the destroyed carriage. While investigating, Morgana removed a spear jammed in the handles of one carriage, releasing the 2 zombies that had been left inside. After a much longer than expected battle, the group defeated the zombies and continued exploring. Guinevere found some Jewelry, which Zasha was much too keen to see, and Guinevere hid it from her. The group took what they could off the bodies, including the armour and sword from the frozen guard captain.

Following the tracks into the forest, Sybbl finds a chest, and triggers a trap opening it, sending a log rolling out of the trees. Shortly after, the group was ambushed by a small, dragon-like creature that burrowed through the snow, popping up and grabbing onto Morgana. They stab it to death, eventually, and continue on. They make their way to a clearing, where a majestic Elk beckons them in, offering them sanctuary and respite from the cold. As the group approaches it, they see another man (Tiedrix, Bard) who seemed to have been talking to the elk when they arrived. while talking, Syblls sword shrunk suddenly, as did Elsbeth, and then the stabbing started. The party fought the atomie and the elk desperately, eventually managing to plead with it to let them live. In exchange, it demanded they leave the forest and never return. They continued into the forest.

After finding a copse of trees with dead crows hanging from the branches, the party decided that this would be a good place to rest. As they hunkered around the fire for the night, none of them saw the sprites moving about, getting into position, until it was too late. They sprung out of the shadows, blinding and stunning Tiedrix and Sybbl before Morgana managed to catch and kill one of them. In an act of rage and revenge, one of the sprites stabbed Sybbl repeatedly, in the face, killing her. The remaining 2 sprites disappeared into the forest. The party divided up Sybbls possesions, then put her body on the fire. They continued deeper into the woods.

Member of the High Lodge, Alistair (Warpriest, Sybbls replacement) was out communing with his god (Milani?) near the river when he saw a group coming from the other side. he hid in the bushes as they get yelled at by a snow man, but when Guinevere attempts to cross the river and is attacked by an elemental from below, he rushes onto the ice, slipping and falling and almost sliding through a hole in the ice. As the party whittles down one elemental, the other shoves Alistair into the water, where he catches hypothermia. It is a group effort to haul him out, but they continue on the way, finding a corpse in the snow where Alistair was hiding. No one seems to care. He offers to lead them to his lodge, and they agree.

Arriving at the lodge, Alistair immediately notices that something isn't right. He races forward, tripping the crossbow trap and nearly falling, but presses forward. While bandits shoot arrows out the windows, Zasha (now a barbarian) slices through a window, and climbs inside, taking a couple arrows but slicing things up in the meantime. the others follow, while Guinevere continues shooting from outside. Zasha tries to chase a fleeing bandit, only to get stabbed from behind by Ten Penny. She returns the hit, and Ten Penny drops her weapons and surrenders just as 2 Frost Skeletons appear from the stairwell. They take down Alistair, and while Ten penny throws a tanglefoot bag at the skeleton, Zasha picks Alistair up to try to move him out of the way, but is herself knocked out by one of the skeletons. Meanwhile, all the dead bandits begin to rise, Morgana is paralyzed, and Guinevere runs screaming in fear out into the snow. While Tiedrix is trying to fend off Rohkar, Elsbeth moves to help Zasha and Alistair, and instead feels compelled to murder Alistair. Ten Penny moves over to flank Rohkar, gets a good backstab in on him, and he surrenders. the party searches the lodge, finding Lady Argentea (Paladin, Alistairs replacement) in the cellar, some clues and other items, loots Alistairs body, frees Vrixx the Pixie, and poorly ties up then locks Rohkar in the cellar, without searching him or removing any of his gear. Somehow, he escapes in the night.

They head back to Heldren, report to the mayor, and are taking some time to do some research and shopping in town.

I suggested the Super Mario theme be played at our wedding. I am no longer permitted to plan anything to do with the wedding.

If I remember right, which I may not, the Runeforge only had enough power left in it to empower X number of runeforged weapons, so that may be why no more can be created, unless there is a method of recharging it or something.

102. The party, after having restored the family name of a dishonored nobleman, is invited to a banquet in their honor, to celebrate them. During part of the ceremony, surrounded by elite guards and other nobles, while the princess is bequeathing them with various honors, the party cleric steps back, pulls out a heavy crossbow, and starts loading it.

He was paranoid that something bad was going to happen.

The rest of the party was paranoid that he was mind controlled.

The GM was paranoid that his nice party was about to end in bloodshed.

It was an Oh F- moment for all!

I should note that I also had a Wall of Supression on the entry point, which he cast in preparation when they were finishing of Ceoptra, so it was several rounds running when they went through it.

This is my updated Karzoug, for my group of 7 players. At one point 6/7 were KO'd or dead (after most and closed in, and he cast Wail of the Banshee), but they managed to bounce back and finish him off.

I once used prestidigitation to "soil" the party fighters pants when a dragon flew overhead. Would not recommend making a habit of it.

Good stuff! look forward to more to come.

You made me look that up. I remembered something, something stone traps but not the specifics. +2 Perception to notice, automatic check when within 10 feet. Whatever "within 10 feet" means...
10 feet of the trap and it's trigger. However, it wouldn't activate here since Stonecunning is looking for mechanical traps od stone.

That assumes that only mechanical traps cause stonework to appear "unusual." Since it's not explicitly stated (and because anyone can find a magical trap by making their Perception check, presumably because it has an unusual appearance), I don't know why you wouldn't be able to find a magical trap with Stonecutting Stonecunning.

YMMV

Woah. I just now noticed that this ability was "Stonecunning" and not "Stonecutting."

The moral of this story is Stonecunning does not allow you to automatically disarm any traps that have a stone or stone-like component.

I posted a big update, and then it disappeared after I hit submit. I may rewrite it later, but for now...

The party fought a bunch of stuff in the pinnacle, many near deaths, and eventually ran outside to teleport back to Magnimar to recoup.

If it helps, my group (7) is also at the Pinnacle. I kept them a level behind what the book said, and they set off the alarm going in, so giants/lamias/etc kept pouring in as they fought in the throne room. Was a long, hard fight, with many close calls, but it worked out in the end.

Class/Level Magus 16
Adventure: The Spires of Xin-Shalast
Catalyst: Image of Karzoug
Story: Rothgar, the party trap finder, opened a door to see Karzoug standing inside a room, and sent his eidelon in to attack, while the remainder of the party gathered around the door. Pretty near everyone was hit by the cone of Karzougs Banshee Blast, and while both Skippy and Elrohir ran away, the others backed off, waiting for Skippy to come back and try to dispel the image. As Skippy opened the door several rounds later, a prepared Karzoug fired a Disintigrate into him, momentarily turning him into ash before his hero points reconstituted his body, leaving him at -9 and stable.

Name of PC: Skippy
Class/Level Magus 16
Adventure: The Spires of Xin-Shalast
Catalyst: Not being healed, and also Gamgin
Story: After Skippys near disintegration, the party decides to back out and regroup before trying to press forward. They make their way out of the Pinnacle, where Gamgin is waiting for them. a battle ensues, in which Skippy lays unconscious off to one side until Gamgin summons an ice storm, the edge of which envelops Skippy, killing him. Gronad rushes over and Breath of Lifes him, saving him again, and proving that Dwarves get all the action.

Been bad at updating lately.. quick notes this time

The party went down stairs to investigate the noise, and are attacked by the haunted chain on the way, which pulls Sarah over the side of the stairwell. They eventually make it to the door, to find nothing outside, and no tracks or anything to be seen in the heavy snowfall. As they investigate, the whole structure begins shaking, and everyone decides they've had enough and bails, running outside. They tie rope to eachother so they will not get lost, except for Joe Flynn who goes back inside because he is cold, and then gets possessed by the ghosts in the house, and charges outside, attacking Sarah but getting knocked back (and out) by Agro. Zukuto, Skippy, and Rothgar had gone ahead in the snow, when they feel the rope go limp behind them. Rothgar follows the rope back to investigate, coming face to face with a Wendigo. The party makes a brief attack against it, until it scoops up Zukuto and flies away with him, who slips away about a mile away from the cabin. Gronad and Skippy decide to go back into the cabin to investigate, and Gronad is confronted by the ghost of his cousin who explains to him what is up. The others trek out into the blizzard and eventually find shelter.

The next morning, the others fly back to the cabin, where they talk briefly with Gronad and Skippy before Rothgar takes off, finding Zukuto wandering in the snow, lost. He picks him up and returns him to the cabin, where he makes some rather disturbing comments. Eventually, they realize that he has been cursed by the Wendigo, and they manage to remove his affliction. After some preparation, the group heads north to find Gronads other cousin, only to find his bones next to a couple of graves. As they investigate, a frost worm pops out from beneath them, and Sarah explodes it with a Finger of Death. A vicious looking ghost rises from the bones, attacking the group, but is quickly laid to rest. They gather his bones, and bring them back to the cabin, where the two spirits engage in a ghost-off. While this is happening, the Wendigo tears into the side of the building downstairs, where Rothgar and Agro had decided to wait. It damages Agro badly enough that Rothgar dismisses him, and then grabs Rothgar and flies off with him while the others run down and start attacking it. Rothgar eventually manages to slip away, and teleports back to the cabin.

They spend some time resting before continuing north, following the river for a couple of days until it opens into an icy swamp. While there, they see an otter, the first sign of life they have seen in days, and Agro catches it. When he drops it off to the group, it transforms into a nymph, whose beauty blinds a large portion of the group. After some calming words, they explain themselves, and she agrees to help them by providing food and shelter for them. They accept, and spend several days fasting before the full moon, at which point they follow the path to the legendary city of Xin Shalast, Fighting a group of giants on the way. They rest in the giants cave, and return to the city the next morning.

They send Zukuto in to scout out the bottom part of the city. He finds an encampment with a large number of lesser giants, seemingly being run by giants much larger than any he had seen before. He investigates a nearby fortress, and is almost detected by a pair of birdlike creatures. He reports back to the group, sharing this information, but is interrupted by a skulk named Morgiv, who is insistent that they are hear to save his people from the Hidden Beast. They agree to help, on the condition that he leads them as far north as possible. They make their way to the lair of the hidden beast, where a protracted fight breaks out, resulting in Rothgar killing Sarah while dominated, and Elrohirs sword taking control of him, and causing him to nearly kill Skippy. Joe Flynn manages to heroically disarm Elrohir, though he still takes the brunt of the strike and is knocked down from it. They manage to deal enough damage to mist the squid, it retreats into its hole under the dias, which Agro shoves aside easily, and they begin hacking the creature apart. They take some time to rest with the skulks before being led to an exit in the northern part of the city, where they climb a building and Greater Teleport most of the way up the mountain. They arrive surrounded by a trio of strange, huge spiders, that demand/request for them to go forth into the spires and kill the denizens from Leng, to which the party agrees. They head into the large spire and encounter a group of cloud giants. Rothgar uses his bow to make a wall of thorns, splitting the giants up, but when the thorns disappear, they notice 2 of the giants have disappeared.

Don't do 15 minute adventuring days, so he has to spread abilities out over multiple instances. Will make Panache restore less frequently, and Charmed Life is also a set number per day.

For the sin part, my vote is on Envy, as this seems to be the motivation behind the actions from what I understand (you took something I wanted - the wine, I take something you wanted). Wrath would be a close second, as this is definitely vengeance derived from anger. In my game, I'd probably do both.

Not part of the question, but I'd also consider giving the sorcerer either a point for Greed or Gluttony (or both), for their actions. Greed would be a definite, ignoring danger and everyone else to take shinies for themselves, and not at least sharing the wine (much less the fact that they found it floating next to a bird full of maggots) would make me think a Gluttony point is in order.

Further, I'd like to echo the sentiments above, and make sure that this would not cause any hard feelings OoC. These kind of things can make the game more interesting, but could also cause tensions to flare between players and hurt the group overall.

Pharast 13 4708AR
The party does some resting and preparing for their upcoming trials. While Gronad, Elrohir, and Skippy take part in certain rituals to unlock the powers of their swords, Sarah meets with her family, Rothgar looks into purchasing more business space, Joe Flynn trains away some of his Bardness, and Zukuto purchases a plethora of magic items.
During the week, Rothgar is approached by a gang of thugs, and after smashing 2 of them, is asked t stop, as a man named Gorvi introduces himself as a former tribe member, telling of the hard times that have befallen the tribe. Zukuto is approached by one of Carents men, and escorted to see him, where he is informed that the Pathfinder Lodge has located some information on one of the Runelords. Sarahs parents host a feast, to which she invites Rothgar, Gronad, and Skippy. Joe Flynn is accosted by a handful of sailors accusing him of being a deserter, but he manages to talk them down.
Zukuto, along with Joe and Sarah, make there way to the pathfinder lodge, where they are (eventually) told an expedition has just returned from the Viperwell, with what is believed to be the passcode that matches the disk they had returned previously. The head of the expedition, Viorri Delvahni, is currently too injured to speak with them, but they are able to gather some other info from another member of the team, Jarvik, after being inducted into the Lodge.

A couple days later Gronad receives a letter from his parents, post dated a couple months back. After reading the letter, he decided that he had to try to stop his cousins, Silas and Karivek, from avenging his brothers death, and with the rest of the party in agreement, managed to scry their location, though some interference showed only a cabin in the mountains. Rothgar attempted to teleport the party there, and though the interference made it difficult (rolled a mishap), he managed to get everyone to the cabin. They began investigating the outskirts, and are attacked by a giant tree that injects something into both Joe Flynn and Zukuto, causing their muscles to stiffen painfully. Through teamwork and Sarahs liberal use of fire, they managed to destroy the undead treant, and began inspecting the lower doors of the cabin when Rothgar suggested they start top down instead. As Agro flew the group up through gradually heavier snowfall, Gronad entered the first set of doors off the upper porch, into a room marred with bloodstains, and was stricken with a strange hunger. He backed away and warned the others to avoid the area, and proceeded through a second set of doors. The rest followed as they went room by room through the cabin, until they were left with either going down stairs, or entering "The Hunger Room" again. Instead of either, Rothgar, flying atop Agro, went outside where Agro tore through the iron bars on the remaining room, allowing Rothgar to squeeze into a room filled with Dwarf bones. As he stands up, he is suddenly swarmed by ghostly dwarves who scratch and bite at him until he runs out of the room and is stricken by pangs of hunger that seem to fade almost as suddenly as they came, but not without leaving him in a significant amount of pain. As the party gathers at the top of the stairs heading down, the wind and snow picks up, and they start to hear a loud, frantic knocking coming from downstairs.

Would like to see it, please!

Been a while playing now, but here is what we've got, in order of appearance (living and dead):
Current party is Sarah, Rothgar, Gronad, Skippy, Elrohir, Joe Flynn, and Zukuto

Sarah - Human Sorceress from Magnimar, was at the Festival trying to sell some of her custom made jewellery

Ragner - Human fighter/fisherman from Sandpoint, had a booth at the festival selling raw fish. Currently MIA, suspected dead in a fishing accident.

Agronox - Human Oracle, brother of Rothgar, exiled from their Shonti tribe for differing opinions with the tribal leaders. Agronox was blinded as punishment. Currently deceased.

Rothgar - Human Fighter/Summoner, brother of Agronox, exiled from their Shonti tribe for differing opinions with the tribal leaders. Believes his Eidolon is a manifestation of his brothers spirit come to protect him.

Nurr - Human Ninja with no actual ninja skills... from Sandpoint, though not well liked around town, and surprisingly literate. Currently deceased.

Gronad - Dwarf Oracle/Barbarian, came to Sandpoint on a pilgrimage to observe the festival, but was delayed and arrived after the festival was over.

Gobber - Human barbarian, former Black Arrow who was chased for weeks by a band of ogres, eventually falling off a cliff into the ocean and washing up on Junk Beach. Currently MIA, suspected dead in a pit under Sandpoint.

Maximo - Human Cleric, got himself trapped in a crypt under Sandpoint and was rescued by the party. Ghoulified, and then deceased.

Urlian - Human Ranger, hunter from Turtleback Ferry, arrived at Sandpoint looking for trade and got roped into investigating a murder. Currently deceased.

Skippy - Aasimir Magus, hired to study the Thassilonion ruins under Sandpoint. Decided to investigate a murder instead, and never showed up to his job.

Cronad - Brother of Gronad, met in Magnimar stalking some monster. Currently deceased

Joe Flynn - Corsair whose ship was taking leave in Sandpoint, assisted in some troubles there and never went back to his ship.

Zukuto - Ninja with regrets as to some of his previous life decisions. Searching for a new teacher to show him a more honourable way, he made his way to Sandpoint, and has become affixed to Gronad.

I ran the Godsmouth Heresy (but moved location to Sandpoint), has some nice Thassilonion flavor in it.

Run Gestalt characters may give a little boost to survivability.
Or start at level 2 instead of level 1. You could even run a little pre adventure... there is something involving Choppers Isle, and in the Pathfinder comics there is an encounter written up for Junk Beach in issue 1. (I don't remember all the details, unfortunately.)
For your GMPC, maybe a bard, that buffs the other guys and also has access to some healing. Though you may need to restrict some of the more social aspects of that character.

I read an archtype somewhere that gave medium armor casting at 1st level... don't remember where or what it was called though

Edit: Armoured Battlemage, Armor Master's Handbook

There is only one race I do not allow with my current group, and that is for story reasons.

That said, the current group is 4 Humans, a Half Elf, a Dwarf, and an Aasimar who half the time forgets that he is an Aasimar.

Mis, my guys did basically the opposite, stuck together, had experienced most of the house, killed the BBEG, then decided to explore the parts they had skipped, by splitting up.

SnakeOzilla
MasterKenobi
Avoxs
Joe Flynn
Jashobeam

Sorry everyone else in this thread, I love my current group! But if I had to pick outside of them, I would choose the next 4 people to post below this.
Edit:
LimeyLongears

Just don't do what the party I am running fir did, and split up in the haunted house...

And you are absolutely sure your family is not secretly scheming against you?

You do raise a valid point, though. Things may be different if I someday acquire one of these families.

Whoawhoawhoawhoawhoawhoawhoa... Whoa.

This is an Ask NobodysHome Anything thread, not an Answer Questions from Nobodyshome thread.

Now, to the important matters...

If one of your spawn were in mortal danger, and the only way to save them was to place in a Crouton-eating contest, what would you do?

Seriously though, I agree that insurance is generally a scam. Around here, car insurance companies post record profits almost every year, and also increase premiums every year, though if I remember right that is supposed to be stopping. Will believe it when I see it.

And life insurance, that just seems like I'm betting against myself... everytime my counterpart suggests I get it, I accuse her of plotting my demise.

Also, I do not know how to tab-format a post. I can barely remember how to bold things half the time, and it is literally listed just under the comment box...

I have a gnome wizard who's main attack was to throw clubs, and he would Brew Potions into various pastries with Profession (Baker).

He has never been played as the GM at the time would not allow it because he thought it was a poor concept.

Long stretch, but... Did you ever play Sword of Vermillion on Genesis? It's one of the few games I remember having for that system, but it is basically what set me on the path to D&D/Pathfinder.

If you WERE a crouton, where would you hide your shame?

Legend of Zelda

If you were a salad, how many croutons would you have?

It's been a while, but if I remember right, I played the goblins as having no common sense and doing stuff for no other reason than "it seemed like a good idea at the time"
For examples
I had a goblin climb a building, then try to jump down and attack, only to stumble at the last second and fall face first into the ground and break his neck.

I also had one climb headfirst into a water barrel to escape the party, get stuck, and eventually drown.

One goblin stole another goblins weapon, mid fight, because it was more shiny.

I got a gridded map of sandpoint, I think from the community page, printed it off on regular paper, and used pins on that to mark progress, only drawing the spots when they ran into combat.
