I'm not sure what you mean by a single campaign as opposed to the main setting. Yes I am running a game in the setting. I have been since the PHB2. The players have been traveling across the colonies. I think they have gone to all on them except two. They just recently acquired a spelljammer so adventures may take place off world for a bit. Or maybe not as I'm not certain where the PCs will go with the ship.
New World: The Final Colonies is the name of the setting for my fourth edition games. The basic concept is that all the long time D&D races (humans, dwarves, elves, and halflings) were in the Old World. The Old World was running short on resources when the New World is discovered. The setting is still medival with suits of plate armor and the like unlike when the Americas were discovered in our time. In the New World, the dragonborn take the place of the Native Americans. The Tieflings control as Aztec like empire to the south. After setting up seven colonies, something happens in the Old World. No one knows what disaster occurred but the Old World is now controlled by demons and undead. I've been meaning to expand the material into a full book but never seem to find the time. The linked blog is my first post about the setting. More material will follow
Should this go under television? I think so. Web series videos seem like tv shows even if they are short. I just stumbled on the More Than Human kickstarter. I thought some fans of Smallville and other superhero shows might be interested. It looks well done. I ask how long the episodes are. He said 7 to 10 mins for the first 5. He expects 9 to 12 for the rest except for the 15 min finale.
I've been slowly reading through the book. My initial thoughts are posted here. I definitely like what I've read so far.
Soon after 4E came out, a product by One Bad Egg caught my eye. After languishing on my wishlist I decided to purchase it recently. My review of Races of the Shroud: Apelords is up on my site. I really liked the product. Unfortunately it got me interested in the Shroud setting. So far I have Apelords and Purifiers. Purifiers came free or as the big charity bundle drivethrurpg did one year. I've never really read through it. Anybody have any more of the Shroud products they recommend? Has anyone used the apelord? I saw at least one person posted about using the race at one point but that was some time ago.
I don't think anyone has mentioned Capes, Cowls, and Villains Foul yet. I don't have it but the system is similar to Cartoon Action Hour Season 2. In fact I'd probably consider running in it CAH S2. It is designed to emulate 80s action cartoons like He-Man, GI Joe, and Transformers. It is similar to PDQ for rules.
Cartoon Action Hour Season 3 has started a kickstarter campaign. It's already passed it's goal. The game is all about 80s cartoon shows like He-Man, G.I.Joe, and Transformers. There have been two previous editions of the game. The first is very different from the second. The new edition is probably going to be close to the second season. If you are a fan of He-Man try to free playset for season 2. The game has G.I.Joe and Transformers like series premade as well. If you are at all interested in the game, I suggest joining the kickstarter at the avid viewer level as you get all the stretch goal mini-series pdf.
I thought about pre-ordering Warlords of the Apocalypse but wasn't really satisfied with Pathfinder. I felt it was going to have random mutations that didn't make balanced characters and therefore more work to GM. Tying it into the Advanced Player's Guide/Ultimate Races sounds interesting. (I actually did a Mutant Future novel for National Novel Writing Month.)
I kinda missed it. Wasn't sure if I wanted to enter and never got around to creating stats. Here is a quick version of what I was thinking. Spoiler: Branding Iron of Growth This appears to be a normal branding iron except that the command word is usually inscribed on it. When heated and applied to skin it causes 1d3 fire damage. When the command word is spoken by the holder of the branding iron, all newly branded animals receive the effects of Animal Growth. This effect only works once. After the Animal Growth wears off the branding iron will not affect the animal again. The branding iron offers no control over the affected animals. The wizard who created the item envisioned a permanent version that could increase meat production. Unfortunately the meat became too tough to eat. Recent rumors place the item in the hand of an orc tribe who use it stampede the giant animals into town before attacking. Moderate Transmutation; CL 9th; Craft Wonderous Item; Animal Growth; Price 24,000gp; Weight 5 lb.
