BigRig107 Continue working on your character. Please review the Character Creation guidelines for this game (on the Campaign page). You get a couple more aptitudes, which will be beneficial. I thought you had mentioned going towards Heavy Weapons, but now you are listing yourself a duelist - are you planning to go more melee instead?

I plan on focusing on heavy weapons, but don't plan on being a slouch in melee combat either. Just a bit of her background.

I am also extremely sick and have been having problems focusing, so I think I'll take a bit off to think and get started again in a day or two. Thanks for extending the deadline!

On second thought it's probably not a good idea to dump that much XP into an elite advance. I'll stick with a novitiate and work my way to getting the iconic power armor later.

From my loose-ish memory, I had to check the Lexicanum and after a quick check, Adepta Sororitas and the Sisters of Battle aren't exactly one and the same. Sororitas have different orders, Militant and Non-Militant, and only the former is called Sister of Battle.

A Sororita can be a Sister Famulous (Jane Austen meets Machiavelli), Dialogus (Arrival meets The Imitation Game) or a Hospitalier (Hacksaw Ridge meets House M.D.), or a member of the most important of all orders, the Order Fenestrus.

I think the inquisitorial retinue gathers influence as it wins friends and influences enemies, so the Sister of Battle is probably meant to denote a full-blown Sister (the Rank, which is one above Novitiate, which is apparently when Adeptas get more independence and get assigned to the Ordo Hereticus).

As to why a Sister (the whole organisation) is different from a Sister (a colloquial name for the Sisters of Battle) is different from a Sister (the fifth out of eleven ranks in the Sisters of Battle), I blame the Administratum.

Yeah I know about the Non-Militant Ordos, I am wanting to make a Militant Ordo Sister, and take the elite advancement found on page 38 of Enemies Within in order to gain access to the Sororitas power armor and talents the advancement gives.

If I can't skip the Influence requirement, that's fine, just need to know which way to go cause it influences my build and XP spending.

Edit: novitiates are frequently picked up by Inquisitors out of the ranks of the more capable prospects. I was planning on having her have a record of serving with Inquisitor Bouchon and having earned her power armor while on campaign in his service.

Nearly have my backstory/personality done, just need to see if I can handwave/fix the influence requirements for the Soroitas. Seeing as how we're supposed to be seasoned agents and all.

Is there not a way to raise your Influence score? Need 50 for the Sororitas Elite Advance, which is impossible with the rolling rules I think?

Any word on elite advancements, if we meet the criteria? Thinking of making her an actual Sister of Battle, power armor and bolter included.

You could have always felt free to make a SoB! Didn't mean to take away inspiration or claim the Sister.

Also, notably I did have a bit of inspiration myself so I'm going to finish the work I started and see how I feel about her. Sorry for being so indecisive!

On second thought, not really feeling the connection to the character. Gonna withdraw, happy gaming to the rest of you!

Alright, will do! Appreciate it. Should have her done tonight or tomorrow, just in time!

Coming back to this after being sick for the past few days, I know a handful of inquisitors are known for holding alien races such as Eldar among their agents. Is that something that would fit here, or would I be better served sticking to the Sister idea I had earlier?

I don’t even know if Dark Heresy has rules for non-humans, actually. Figured I should at least ask!

Or was I thinking of Rogue Traders, hmm.

Still workin on my Sororitas Crusader! Should have her done by tomorrow evening, if all goes to plan.

Emperor's Blessing?: 1d10 ⇒ 8 Success! +1 Fate
Wounds: 1d5 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14 Max wounds!
Divination: 1d100 ⇒ 62

"Ignorance is a wisdom of its own": Reduce this character's Perception characteristic by 3. The first time he would gain 1 or more Insanity points each session, he reduces that amount by 1 (to a minimum of 0) instead.

Perfect for a Sister! No need to question Him on Terra.

Oh right, can reroll 3 d10s.

Feudal - Sororitas - Crusader

Seems good enough for a Sororitas. Will probably be looking to focus on heavy weapons and eventually get her full power armor, if it goes on long enough.

Looking at Crusader for now. I'm not 100% solid on all of the rules system quite yet, but I have a basic idea and am reading to learn.

I did have a question about backgrounds, is there a set system this is taking place in? Looking at a third or fourth daughter of a feudal world's ruling family essentially 'donated' to the Soritas and eventually being picked up by Inquisitor Bouchon.

Do I pick an existing world or make one up for her?

Nah, it's okay! I'm looking into Soritas and it seems way more my style. Feudal world, Novitiate Duelist, melee focused build.

Now to figure out how to actually make a character!

Ah, beaten by a few seconds. How much overlap is there in between builds? If I made a mechanicus character as well, will it be overlapped a lot by another Tech Priest?

Might go with a Soritas, if that's the case.

Tried to run my own Dark Heresy game that fell apart, but got the Humble Bundle with all the 2E stuff. Extremely excited to take a crack at it from the player side!

Likely looking at some form of Mechanicus character or maybe a psyker, will do more research and return with an idea.

I think 6 would be way better than 7-8. Once you get too far past 5 it’s hard to make any one character stand out that much in the story.

In the games I run, I usually aim for 5, which gives you an extra spot for a leaver but also lets each individual member stand out in their stories. Just my experience though, of course!

In that case, I will withdraw my interest. Not really a fan of bigger tables, though I understand why people like them.

Have fun everyone!

Will all 7 or 8 be in the same party, or split up between two groups?

Okay, awesome. that's what I wanted to hear. Like I said, I don't mind the occasional remark or anything, just wanted to make sure I didn't make every encounter into a combat one if I played a vishkanya.

I'll be back soon with a character and background!

Interested!

You mentioned Vishkanya being accepted, and I have a concept for a Deadly Courtesan Rogue, and I had a question.

Is there any source of info about how Vishkanya are treated in Taldor? I don’t want to constantly have to fight against super massive fantasy racism if that’s the case. I’m okay with a little bit of tension but not outright hatred from everyone, if that’s the case then I’ll go with something else.

I might trade it out for the racial bonus to natural armor anyway, so we’ll see.

I didn’t notice there were two kineticists in a row, funny coincidences!

Very interested!

Brewing an oread geokindticist, sort of a forgemaster/clockwork crafter who worships Brigh and wants to integrate some tech/clockwork into his body through the use of the kineticist talents dealing with that (clockwork heart etc). Should have something put together tomorrow!

Quick question though, would you be okay with me swapping out the Oread acid resistance for fire resistance, to better fit his being able to work with direct fire so easily? If not that’s okay, figured I’d ask.

Still working on my shifter/witch, just had some personal difficulties. Hoping to get a lot done today.

Hey gang, sorry about that. Thought I had made the post to each of my games, but apparently missed this one.

Had the dental surgery today, everything went well and even through the pain and aches I feel much better than my previous state. Gonna take a few days off to rest and recover, and then I’ll have my games back up shortly thereafter!

Thank you all for your patience.

Not really feeling the story connection to the planned build I had, so I’ll bow out of this one. Looks like there’s plenty of great applicants regardless!

If I wanted to buy the samsaran racial trait Mystic Past Life with our bonus RP to get some more ice spells on my witch list, how much would that cost me? If you even allow it, that is.

You can add spells from another spellcasting class to the spell list of your current spellcasting class. You add a number of spells equal to 1 + your spellcasting class’s key ability score bonus (Wisdom for clerics, and so on). The spells must be the same type (arcane or divine) as the spellcasting class you’re adding them to. For example, you could add divine power to your druid class spell list, but not to your wizard class spell list because divine power is a divine spell. These spells do not have to be spells you can cast as a 1st-level character. The number of spells granted by this ability is set at 1st level. Changes to your ability score do not change the number of spells gained. This racial trait replaces shards of the past.

Well, I'M incredibly nervous now...as someone whose primary Pathfinder/Starfinder experience is through play-by-posts on these very forums, I worry how much chaos transitioning to a new forum will cause the games I'm currently in, some of which I've been playing for LITERAL YEARS. Especially if it's hard to cross-reference the continuity from the current forums as they're left behind! <_<

Agreeing with this, wish we had a bit more info on how the current campaign content will be moved over to the new forums, and how the new forums will impact the usability of the tools we have here.

Hopefully it all goes smooth and not too much needs to change!

Speaking of the recruitment end date, what date did you have in mind? I have the pieces for my witch shifter, just pulling them all together.

Working on a human warpriest of Shelyn, going the Dex based Bladed Brush route. Aiming at Combat Patrol/Combat Reflexes/Bodyguard/In Harm's Way to focus on being super protective of her party and 'family', in combat and out of combat. Should have her done in the next few days!

I didn't receive any private messages, so did it get eaten by the website? Either way, feel free to send the details of her background and othersoul whenever it's convenient for you as there is still plenty of time left before the recruitment closes.

No, just was out for the holiday. Should get it sent over tonight!

Still working on my winter witch/spheres shifter. Aiming for a "hedge witch in the forest outside the village" angle, with some Germanic tribal elements (slight weather control, herbalism flavored healing etc).

Obviously no up front obvious magic, and plan on taking Improved Familiar for the Nehushtan to explain a lot of her healing ritual's effectiveness.

Few story spoilers I don't want to give away just yet, will send some story ideas as far as her background/othersoul to you, Seer.

With the 13 extra RP of racial abilities, are they considered part of our racial traits or more liek magical effects added on? I ask because I plan on making use of some Polymorph effects, and don’t want to ‘waste’ the RP if the bonuses don’t carry over to my other forms.

Two more questions.

1. How do classes with spellbooks/familiars that grant spells known (wizard/witch) pay for new spells to be added to their source? Is that out of the Curio gold?

2. When the curio says “wondrous items”, is that specially the non-slotted wondrous items, or can we get the effects of rings, necklaces, etc from that pool?

Would the Spheres of Power Shifter’s shifting abilities qualify me for the Natural Spell feat? I couldn’t find anything on it counting as wild shape, but it seems silly for it not to.

Looking into the Spheres of Power Shifter as opposed to the Druid, and was curious about when the feat used to combine two archetypes that replace the same ability would need to be spent.

Apex Shifter and Fey Incarnate both alter the 20th level capstone, do I need to spend a feat to be able to take both now, or at level 20? Three feats is a heavy price for something I won’t even notice the overlap on until 20th level, so I’ll probably have to decide on one or the other if that’s the case.

Quite interested, love the fey and haven’t ever had a chance to mess around with them.

One thing I noticed missing that didn’t carry over from your Kisarta recruitment rules is the using a feat to offset stacking archetypes rule. I have a plan for a Druid that takes the Feyspeaker and Menhir Savant archetypes, but they both alter Nature Sense. Can we use a feat to balance that out?

Looking at a Ranger turned Lantern Bearer using the actual prestige class. Unsure what archtypes or race, but likely elf. We'll see.

For hit points and wealth, are we using average and per level, respectively?

Reckless wrote:
Sorry for the confusion. The original exception stands (which is what I meant by "stick with the no templates"), just no other exceptions. Those items are ok.

Oooh fun! Thanks for the clarification.

Did you happen to have Arinolus‘ domains for his clerics? Or does he not grant power like that?

Probably for the best. Thanks for pointing that out for me!

Reckless wrote:
Templates? No, although the specific epic magic items in Jesse’s guide that provide templates are allowed to be purchased and used to gain one template that way.

The first post says this, though. If he’s changed his mind that’s fine, just thought those were okay.

The epic magic items that grant templates would apply those template abilities during a polymorph spell, right? Since they're continuous magic item effects.

I'm working on a dragon shifter, who can spend 24/7 in his dragon form and don't want to waste money on something I can't use.

Edit: for worshippers of Arinolus, what are his domains and subdomains?

Okay, good info.

Second question, how do you feel about Spheres of Power content? Individual basis?

I know flavor/backstory won’t be the most important here, but just trying to get a feel for the setting.

This Arinolus, who we’ll be working for, is he worshipped on all planes under that name? Or would we be able to worship other established gods (both in Golarion or other universes) as being a facet of his being? Just curious about worshipping classes (cleric and the like).

As someone who hasn’t ever used HeroLab, how easy/expensive is it to get it to a place where I can actually use it for games like this?

I know I have to pay for the service itself, but I see an annual subscription? Does that let me use all the first edition material, or do I need to buy each individual book I might need?

Does it have any third party support, or is it only official Pathfinder material?

Still working, I'm nearly done. Took me a bit to figure out exactly what I wanted to go for. I should have everything done by tomorrow!

If I start as a non-Jedi class and then take Jedi class levels later, does that give me the starting lightsaber for free when I take that class?

Can I even acquire a lightsaber without being a Jedi class?

bigrig107 Yes, they exist, but they are relatively new at this point. Most people wouldn't know what they are.

That's fine, just wanted one in her background is all. Working on getting things together, aim to have it completed by tonight.
