Wanted to thank you, Dungeon Master S/Chris Marsh, for letting us drive those dastardly Aspis back to where (or even whence) they came from and I also wanted to thank everyone who adventured along with Zefnir for being an awesome High-Tier Pathfinder group. Special thanks and kudos goes to IronHelixx and everybody behind PBPGameday4 and Paizo for making all of this possible. :)

It was my first time playing in an actual Special like this (and playing in a PFS game in a PBP format as well), so I wasn't sure what to expect but it was pretty neat and fun. Haven't really played Zefnir in a long while, so I also wanted to give a shout-out to everybody for their help and patience. :)

Wishing everybody and their loved ones Happy Holidays for this and the New Year. ;)

Cyrus, Zefnir's PBP host

The combined might of tigers and Pathfinders is enough to destroy the final protean! With that the tower stops shaking, as if the mere presence of the proteans was the cause of the disturbance.

The tower, returning to normal is now safe. You're free to move about Skyreach.

Now that the tower has ceased to tilt, Zefnir nods to his fellow Pathfinders with a relieved smile. "Indeed, Sir Omrax; hopefully Master Shaine will be arriving soon, the Consortium agents and their Tapestry allies driven away, and that this tower will once again be attached to Skyreach as normal."

Nicely done, everyone! :) Just out of minor curiosity, what did those three Aspis agents have on them? ;)

Hopefully there will be more last minute aid tokens that can be given to the other tables before tomorrow's deadline arrives.

I think that Faeron is also injured, but Val's channel should help with his current HP totals.

Round 6, no need to bot this round.

As Val's second channeling helps heal up some of Faeron's wounds, Zefnir decides that he could see to Angrid's fatigued condition instead. Angrid's invisibilty is gone, I think?

Flying over to the Bloatmage Researcher, Zefnir casts Lesser Restoration upon Angrid.

"This will take a while, Researcher Luin, so it would be best to not move too far away from me while I see to your condition of fatigue."

Looks like Rounds Seven to Nine is already covered for Zefnir while he does the Lesser Restoration. ;)

Zefnir will opt for the +2 from his Blessing, as usual.

Round 5, for fighting.

Zefnir will be able to get to Faeron and Angrid in this round and heal or lesser restore them in the next.

Seeing that casting another Spiritual Ally is no longer an option, Zefnir opts to use his final Spray of Shooting Stars upon these Heralds of Chaos, taking care to not hit any of his allies or their tigers.

SR, if applicable: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21.

Spray Damage: 10d4 ⇒ (2, 3, 3, 1, 1, 4, 3, 2, 2, 1) = 22 Fire damage to both remaining Proteans. DC 19 Reflex Save for half damage.

Zefnir then flies over to where Angrid and Faeron are, seeing that they both are in need of healing or curing.

That's that for the Spray, now all the combat based revelations are used up over here. ;)

Round 6 and maybe even 7, if needed to bot again.

Zefnir can heal Faeron with a Cure Serious Wounds or heal Angrid with a Lesser Restoration. He can be moved as needed, or he can spend the move action to switch his battle aspergillum with his metamagic rod of reach via his scabbard of many blades.

Otherwise, Zefnir does have 3 Spear of Purity spells to spare, if needed. The proteans should be within the required 50' range of the Spears from where he is at.

- CSW on Faeron (doesn't look like anyone else is actually hurt?)

This fight doesn't seem to be the greatest for his spell list, especially with no 4th level left.

Thank you, Faeron, for the clarification; for some reason, I had it in my head that if a Spiritual Ally couldn't hit due to SR, it'd have to go to a different target (if any) to try again. The way you mentioned does make a lot more sense.

If it's okay by you, Dungeon Master S, could I retcon my taking out that Wand of Owl's Wisdom from my haversack? It's really only used to increase the Spiritual ally's attacks for the most part.

For the Interstellar Void, those are already gone- so Val made the perfect choice with using the Spray instead. :)

Also noticed, upon reviewing my spell usage, that I had forgot to do the SR check for that last Spear of Purity, but since it missed and had no effect, I figured it can be left alone. ;)

Third round actions

Zefnir takes the +2 Blessing bonus.

When the Spiritual Ally finally moves into place to make it's attack upon the bigger elemental...

SR: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15. If the result is enough, then:

Ally attack 1: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19. Ally damage 1: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Ally attack 2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16. Ally damage 2: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

It will attack the big elemental twice. Otherwise, if it seems like the Ally is unable touch that big elemental due to SR, it will then attempt to move to the one that Sir Omrax is fighting in the following round.

Zefnir himself will launch an Interstellar Void mystery attack upon the big elemental.

SR, if applicable: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23.

Interstellar Void damage: 10d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 2, 3, 5, 6, 3, 2, 1, 6) = 37 Cold damage, plus Fatigue (if applicable). DC 19 Fort Save to halve damage with no Fatiguing.

Zefnir will remain standing where he is, while he pulls out his Wand of Owl's Wisdom out from his Haversack as a move action.

For the real, actual round 2...

Zefnir will fly over and land onto the square he is at, so he will not be flying next round. He will choose the +2 from the Blessing.

In case a Reflex save is needed? Reflex save: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 7 + 2 = 17.

Zefnir will use a Spear of Purity on the elemental fighting with Sir Omrax. -1 2nd level spell.

Ranged Touch attack: 1d20 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 12 + 1 = 14. Blessing and Prayer included in the plus twelve. The plus one is for his point-blank shot feat, if applicable; if not then ignore that 1.

Damage: 10d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 2, 5, 1, 6, 1, 4, 5, 6) = 37. Automatic half damage if the elemental is neutral. DC 16 Will save to halve that adjusted amount further.

In the meantime, the Spiritual Ally moves/flies 30 feet closer towards the larger elemental but hasn't reached it's target yet.

"If we could somehow restore the magic circle, would that make those elementals leave?"

Ah well, it was worth a try; good to know at least, though. In terms of the last attack, it probably would change the hit numbers to 30 and 26 then; would those have still made the hit?

One thing that I didn't account for was the spell resistance, so should I go ahead and make the SR roll for the previous round? If it doesn't go through, I can burn a re-roll on it; if that reroll doesn't go through, I think that maybe Sir Omrax's second attack does the elemental in? ;)

SR roll #1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11. If that doesn't do it, then:

-1 Shirt reroll. SR roll #2: 1d20 + 10 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 10 + 6 = 35. I'm a 3 star GM (not sure if the bonus doubles or not)... although if not then minus 3 from the results. Hope that does it.

For the Second Round

"I'll make certain that there will be something to block any attempt from that Elemental being to reach Researcher Luin."

As Val moves to the window side next to Zefnir, Zefnir will fly over to the southern ground lens nearest to his position. Once there, Zefnir will use his final 4th level spell slot to cast Spiritual Ally, wielding an identical Battle Aspergillum held by Zefnir, in the space diagonal of Angrid's position to give Sir Omrax a flanking bonus and something between the Bloatmage Researcher and a nearby elemental. Zefnir will choose the +2 bonus from the Blessing.

-1 4th level spell. The Spiritual Ally will attack the elemental attacking Sir Omrax.

Spiritual Ally first attack: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 11 + 2 = 32. All attacks with Blessing of Fervor and Prayer applied. The extra +2 represents the flanking bonus with Sir Omrax.

Spiritual Ally first damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8. If prayer applys to damage, then 1 more point of damage is done.

Spiritual Ally 2nd attack: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 6 + 2 = 28

Spiritual Ally 2nd damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10. If prayer applys to damage, then 1 more point of damage is done.

Spiritual Ally 2nd attack confirmation: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 2 = 14. If confirmed, the damage is doubled.

-1 4th level spell instead of the -1 to 2nd when it wasn't necessary to use that Spear. Zefnir will use the +2 to hit, AC, and Reflex from the Blessing.

On the 2nd round, depending on the circumstances, Zefnir may use either his offensive mystery powers or use up his final 4th level spell to cast Spiritual Ally. We have a theory that the northwest tower’s new floating status may be the result of the Sky Key and Hao Jin Tapestry coming too close to one another, much like two extradimensional spaces placed inside one another. Thus far, all of our more conventional attempts to reach the tower have been repelled, and admittedly the whole thing could just rocket into the Irorium any minute.” He squints to the north before adding, “That would be unfortunate, as there’s a rather big match over there today. Best we take control of the tower before it misbehaves further."

“The good news is that we have a permanent portal to that section of the tower. Since the link is between two objects—a pair of full-length mirrors—it should be stable and safe to use. The only catch is that one of the mirrors is inside Arliss Hall. The hall has several extradimensional properties, and with so many visitors, it’s been changing its internal layout constantly. If the portal does not turn on when Angrid becomes visible, then Angrid asks Faeron to leave the room and see if the mirror is only active when one person is inside the room.

Additionally, Angrid takes a few seconds to try an identify the item and how it truly functions.

That sounds fine. I am trying to figure out how to get everyone through the portal. I need to figure out how to open the door after the first person goes through.

Angrid decides that there may be an alternative method for entering the room besides the obvious front door. He wips out a scroll and reads it, casting.

Omrax will delay until Zefnir decides to move or not. If he does, Omrax will smite and engage Zefnir's opponent.

He then draws out a minature shovel and with a few words and some movement involving pantomiming digging, Angrid casts spiked pit (standard action). However, instead of utilizing a memorized version Angrid digs deep within himself and sacrifices his own blood to maintain the spell in memory (3 blood pool points). Angrid becomes visible.

Flashback to the previous encounter...

Zefnir nods to Omrax, preparing to duck aside to give the Paladin room to deal with this stealthy striker. The Wizard and Stealther flee soon after. Very deadly and smart enough to flee when they've not had the upper hand; I've a bad feeling about this...

Now that the danger has ceased for the moment, Zefnir will use his CLW wand to heal himself of the 43 points of damage plus bleed, only pausing mid-heal to take in the sight of a tower floating in the sky above.
wand charge #1: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

wand charge #2: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

wand charge #3: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

wand charge #4: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

wand charge #5: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Perhaps we will run into those two again inside there? I'd better think of some other spell to be using when we do run into them...

wand charge #6: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

wand charge #7: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

wand charge #8: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

wand charge #9: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

-9 charges on his CLW wand.

Zefnir, feeling much better once he is back to full health, follows his group into Skyreach to find the missing Master of Spells.

Now back to your regularly scheduled hag beating...

Finally got to post; sorry for the delay. Thank you, Val on that trigger too- I'm sure there's a table out there that can really use the healing. :)

If actions are still needed, Zefnir will fly forward 30 feet in both distance and height (depending on ceiling space) to his present position and fire off a Spear of Purity at Blue Hag (- 1 2nd level spell). For his Blessings, he'll keep the +2 attack, AC, and Reflex.

At a 50' ranged touch attack on the Blue Hag, Zefnir makes his ranged touch attempt: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20. If the Blue Hag is within 30 feet distance and his Spear of Purity is considered as a ranged weapon, then Zefnir can add in +1 to hit and damage with a Point-blank shot, otherwise all the roll results are unmodified.

If he hits the hag, he will do either:

Damage to an Evil creature: 5d8 ⇒ (4, 2, 2, 3, 2) = 13. DC 16 Will save to get half damage. Automatic half damage if the hag is Neutral and zero damage if the hag is Good.

Damage to an Evil Outsider: 10d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 4, 5, 3, 2, 1, 3, 1, 3) = 30 plus 1 round of blindness. DC 16 Will save to get half damage and avoid the blindness. Automatic half damage if the hag is Neutral with no blindness at all and zero damage if the hag is Good with no blindness either.

If Zefnir needs to be NPC botted in the near future, anyone can feel free to have Zefnir repeat his actions on suitable targets (probably will fly to get a better position, maybe?), as needed.

Am ready now. Sorry about posting on so late; holiday celebrations here didn't finish up until today. Also, would it be fair to say that Zefnir healed up during the interim between the last fight and this fight, using the appropriate number of charges from his CLW wand?

Zefnir will move forward until he is 10' behind Omrax's position. Zefnir will then cast Blessing of Fervor (-1 4th level spell) so that all party members are affected by it (if they so choose to accept).

"Let the Heavens, in the name of the Gods, give their most ferverent blessings to us." Zefnir will opt for the +2 attack, Dodge AC, and Reflex bonus this round for a total 24 AC (14 Touch, 22 Flat) and +9 Reflex.

Reposted from the PRD: With this blessing, you call your allies to move forth and empower them to conquer and become victorious. Each round for the duration of this spell, each of your allies can choose one of the following bonuses for that round at the beginning of its turn (their choice).

1. Increase its speed by 30 feet.

2. Stand up as a swift action without provoking an attack of opportunity.

3. Make one extra attack as part of a full attack action, using its highest base attack bonus.

4. Gain a +2 bonus on attack rolls and a +2 dodge bonus to AC and Reflex saves.

5. Cast a single spell of 2nd level or lower as if it were an enlarged, extended, silent, or still spell.

These effects are not cumulative with similar effects, such as those provided by haste or a speed weapon, nor do they actually grant an extra action, so you can't use it to cast a second spell or otherwise take an extra action in the round. Blessing of fervor does not stack with haste.

Was a good try, Faeron. But if it is not, Venture-Captain Janiff Ivulxtin himself sent us here to motivate you. This is not about glory, but about honor and duty.
If these mean naught to you, then reconsider your membership in our great Society.

It's going to sound kind of crazy, but what if we were to "sweeten the pot", as it were, by offering some of the leftover items from the wyvarans not picked by us to those would-be glory hounds if they would kindly escort their civilian charges to the gate? Of course, this would be after we all have chosen out stuff that can be used from the pile. Of course, it goes without saying that all of us would have to be on-board with such a decision.

And speaking of choosing items at the finish of our last fight, Zefnir could probably temporarily use some of things, like one of cloak of resistance +2, one of the headband of alluring charisma +2, one of the amulet of natural armor +1, and one of the ring of protection +1. With a casting of Enhanced Diplomacy and the headband, this should give Zefnir at least a +16 for a diplomacy check.

I would imagine that Zefnir might try to suggest to the would-be glory-hounds that escorting Nigel would be a test to see if they are trustworthy enough to be given more responsibilities; that Nigel, being a close ally of the society and capable of heading to the gate on his own, but what if there was a possibility that Nigel might actually be evaluating their worthiness for some future possible Blakros-funded expedition? Lastly, Zefnir might take the chummy, looking out for each other tack, and sweeten the pot (if unanimously agreed upon) with the found items by suggesting that we all want to see each other be more glorious and the way to do that is by doing the escort task. Zefnir may even suggest having some of them stay while some of us (maybe Omrax and one other?) go help with the escorting so that "we can show our sincerity in helping one another by looking out for each other, just like an actual field mission". Will also try to play up that we are experienced in these matters, so we know of what we speak, even if religiously motivated as we mostly are. Of course, all this is dependent if they agree to such terms in the first place (or I end up botching that diplomacy check).

They're humanoid looking beasts. Two of them wear robs, but the third looks like a warrior of skill bearing a longsword and shield.

Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12

Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

If the second iterative attack is allowed, then... attack2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 damage2: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Angrid reacts just slightly before all hell breaks loose, as if he had some inkling that something bad was about to happen. Angrid uses the next few rounds to:

1) Use his Rod of extend lesser to cast an extended see invisibility (next 220 min.)
2) Activating his ring of invisibility. Unless in combat or wish to be seen, I will reactivate this every 2.5 min. Thus always staying invisible.
3) Float up 10 ft and out of the fray.
4) Attempts to identify the invaders [dice=Knowledge (local)]1d20+21

Northeast. Sounds good.

Nodding dumbly at this sudden turn in events, Zefnir follows alongside his fellow Pathfinders to the NE area. He does enough presence of mind to cast Overland Flight upon himself though, so as to not hold up his party in movement, as well as getting his buckler at the ready. It was just as well that I didn't remove my armor.

Just drag your image from a post onto the map. Google will auto import it. Then just resize for grid.

Thanks for the tip, Faeron, Angrid; first time handling something like this as well.

Zefnir, overwhelmed by all the options and choices, opts for a rapid tour of the games. Unfortunately he never quite finds his niche. Moreso than his friends though he sees that there really is a wide variety of Pathfinders. While rare is the pathfinder with as much skill, there are Pathfinders of all races and skillsets.

Although Zefnir's attempts at reconstructing a crime scene in the Sleuthing event and discussing the differences between the Esoteric and Ethereal planes during the Lore Symposium fared far much better than this earlier attempts at the Storytelling Event ("We came here to hear some good stories, not some stupid arse preaching about the evils of slavery!" being the kindest criticism received by the Oracle) and the Obstacle Course event, neither were enough in comparison to the general Pathfinder Populous of Peers.

Grimacing just a little bit at his poor performance, Zefnir thinks, It seems that I've still a ways to go in proving myself to be an able member of the Society, to himself as he plays witness to the successes of the other Pathfinder agents in his respective events.

Haven't seen you guys before, and honestly I've never been to one of these before. Looks like there's lots to do. You guys should check out the games before the boring part starts.

"Well met, Ka'atib. I'm Zefnir and like yourself, am new to this Grand Convocation. I do believe we shall see to the games though." I may have to get out of my armor at some point, but I'll do so later, for now.

Interesting. Well, I'm off to try my hand at the trapsmithing event, then. I assume the traps involved will be of the relatively non-fatal variety? We can't afford to be losing good Pathfinders to a game...

First, Val heads to the Lore Symposium to discuss religion.

Wishing his fellow Pathfinders well in their games, Zefnir heads off to the Story-teller section to try his luck at Oratory. Perhaps I shall try out one of my anti-slavery speeches? The embarrassing result of his attempt was rather lackluster though. I really should try to improve on my oratory.

Zefnir's subsequent attempt at the Obstacle course in the second round event ends up being just as abysmal although he does try to silently convince himself that since manual dexterity is not really his strong suit, his poor showing is only to be expected.

Otherwise, I have developed some skill at healing and diplomatic means, when appropriate."

With the last, he resigns to the side of the group and meditates upon the mission while holding a small silver longsword attached to a thin chain.

"Of course, Sir Omrax- and may you ever keep the vigilant light of the Inheritor with you.", Zefnir smiles and gives a nod to Omrax while respectfully giving some distance so that Omrax may perform what appears to Zefnir's eyes as silent ritual prayer of some sort.

Ah, I can always spot fellow Pathfinders! Hail, and well met!

A nondescript human strides over, fine bow slung on his shoulder and a Starknife hanging on a chain around his neck. There is also a scrawny, shady man, deeply cowled, following from a distance.

The Starlady's blessings be on you. Call me Val. I'm a Traveler for Desna, and have been a Pathfinder since...hells! Since they WERE Pathfinders! Looks like we have a nice, eclectic group here. I specialize in healing magic, as well as bolstering my allies in combat, and confounding my enemies. I only fall back on my bow when necessary.

He glances back at the robed and hooded man, who is lurking (that is, in fact, the correct word) nearby, and sighs. A Soothsayer who took to following me after a mission in the Hall of Drunken Heroes. He stays out of the way, but promises he can come in handy once in a while, so I let him follow me.

His attention now focused upon the new arrival, Zefnir smiles warmly back in greeting to Val and replies, "Hail and Well met, Val, fellow Traveler. I am Zefnir. Like yourself, I have some skill with healing and some familiarity with use of the bow... although my own travels, as it were, do cross many paths and many creeds. And of course, greetings to your follower as well". Zefnir gives a slight bow to the hooded lurker as well.
