Zathra groans and leans heavily against the wall as Clancy struggles to channel his goddess's grace. She shakes her head and waves him away. "It's okay. You guys go on and finish this. I'll just... stay here... and rest a bit, yeah?"

Zathra shakes her head as Clancy proselytizes. "You remember that I used to be a beadle in service to Amun Tor, yes? And now that I have become this warrior, it is Crom to whom I cry out for strength. I do not think Justicia is the right goddess for me. But I do appreciate the powers she has granted you to help us find victory in battle!"
Zathra sighs with relief as her wounds disappear thanks to Clancy's intervention. "Thank you," she says.
”Both Istevan and I are in rough shape,” Zathra tells Clancy, holding a hand to her wounds.
Zathra makes a wild swing that leaves her off balance!
Zathra moves in alongside Istevan. She fights defensively as she jabs with her polearm!
Zathra rushes out from behind the boulder to support Clancy. "Crom!" she shouts as she thrusts with her polearm!
Zathra approaches Istevan and offers him her arm to grasp. "It is good to meet a fellow warrior. It will be good to fight by your side."
Zathra gargles in incoherent rage as blood dribbles from her mouth. She blinks and shakes her head as she stabs ahead, this time landing a telling blow!
Zathra jabs her polearm at the devil's eyes, but misses by a wide margin!
Zathra holds her polearm in a defensive position as she stabs the nearest cultist. As the rat-man falls, she moves up to threaten the rat devil and keep its attention!
Zathra shouts a battle cry as she thrusts her polearm forward!
Zathra is angry about the turn of events. Very angry! She lets loose a battle cry as she rushes the man holding the innkeeper. The point of her polearm smashes his nose as it goes through his rat-face, exploding out the back of his head! The mutant man goes limp and drops his man-catcher.
”And I am Zathra,” says the tall barbarian woman who sits beside Clancy. She guzzles down the ale that the middle-aged barmaid has brought, letting out a belch. ”Oh, pardon me!” she says, blushing slightly. ”We happen to be in need of a person with your skill set, Degan. Will you join us on our next adventure?”
Damn, Zathra is tough. :D
Zathra moves to the demon closest to Clancy, lashing out with her polearm to keep it away from the cleric. The demon is an ogre-sized mass of eyes
Zathra rushes past the paralyzed duplicates to help out Artemis. She stabs his mirror version with her polearm!
"Enough! Pick on someone your own size!" Zathra shouts. She stabs at her duplicate again, and this time, luck is on her side.
The point of her weapon stabs into Mirror Zathra's chest! The duplicate groans and crumples to the floor!
The mortal wound in her chest closes and Zathra groans in pain. She spares a quick look of thanks to Clancy before getting to her feet and attacking her duplicate! Unfortunately, Mirror Zathra parries her strike. ”Crom take your eyes!” she curses.
Zathra moves in to attack the lions! She drives her chaos polearm deep into the belly of one, causing serious internal bleeding!
Zathra shrugs. "I don't know. An egg seems pretty easy to make. Easier than a man, I'd wager."
"Hey, give him a break! He's trying his best!" Zathra says to Mister Wanderful, coming to Clancy's defense. "I thought it was a very good door!" The warrior reverses her grip on her polearm, wielding it like a staff, as she moves in to attack the slime.
”I don’t think finding the Egg would be this easy,” Zathra says, looking askance at the lumpy material in the cradle. ”Kinda looks like clay. Sparkly clay.”
You rest overnight. The next morning, you wake up and gather in the common room. Zathra yawns and stretches. "I had the strangest dreams last night. What about the rest of you?" she asks.
Zathra grins at Artemis and drinks heartily of the ale. "Refreshing," she declares. After draining her mug, she looks at the others. "So it seems we are in agreement. We must do this thing, for lack of other options. I get the feeling tomorrow will be harrowing, indeed. Shall we take some rest while we can?" She gestures to the adjoining bedchambers.
The herald gives Wanderful a grin but doesn't answer him as he disappears through the portal. *** Several minutes later, Zathra leans back in her chair, hands resting on her full belly. "Better! Alright, I guess it is story time... "I wasn't always a warrior. A short time ago, I was a beadle, an official in the Order of Amun Tor, the First Sage. The Order is a sprawling system of monks, priests and bureaucrats, and I was a small piece of that grand design. I had been tasked with retrieving a relic recovered from a nearby expedition and returning with it to the temple. But my curiosity got the better of me on the journey back, and when I opened the box containing the relic, a bright light enveloped me. "When I could see again, I was somewhere else. I was someone else. A few others had been brought along with me--a guard from our caravan, along with two halfling merchants. But we were all changed, transformed by the relic into savage barbarians in a strange dungeon. I surmised that we had somehow been transported back in time, to re-enact the events that had lead the relic to come to that ruin in the first place. "The four of us fought our way through the dungeon, battling fearsome foes and weathering deadly traps. It was brutal. The others did not survive. I alone made it to the dungeon's final chamber, where I placed the relic where it belonged. There was another bright light, and I found myself back in my rightful time. But not in my rightful body. I was still a wildling warrior. And it seems like there is no going back." Zathra leans forward and grins slyly. "Well. It is not so bad, being big and strong. I don't know if I would have wanted to go back to my old life as a beadle, anyway. I got a taste of glory and adventure, and I want more. So, bring on this Host of Chaos and Yokeless Egg, I say. Let us test our might against whatever lays before us. For Crom!" She slams her fists on the table for emphasis.
Zathra had been standing in stunned silence in the presence of the Host of Chaos. Only when Clancy addresses her directly does she blink and look at him. "I have no idea what is happening here. This is... far beyond my ken. But it seems I am in this with you now for better or worse." Her stomach growls loudly as she looks at the conjured feast. "I will tell you my story. Just as soon as I fill my belly. I am starving!" She sits and begins to dig into the meal.
Zathra grunts a laugh. "Where am I from? Far from here. My story is a long one, and I will happily tell it to you in a safer place. Away from evil pillars and weird monsters." She gestures to the east. "There is a town several miles in that direction. We can reach it before nightfall if we set out now. I will travel with you, if you will have me. There is safety in numbers."
The wild woman grunts as the monster falls. She places the hilt of her polearm on the ground and leans on it as she examines the corpse, then looks back up at Clancy. "Sorry. I usually hit things better. Still getting used to everything. I am Zathra. Who are you?" She gestures to the dead monster. "What is that?" She then gestures to the stone pillar. "And what is that?" Clancy notices a holy symbol on a chain around the woman's neck -- the All-Seeing Eye, sign of Amun Tor, god of mysteries and riddles.
I'll be out of town all next week. I'll return on April 17th.
I have a backstory in my profile, though I haven't had a chance to answer the questions yet. Otherwise good to go.
This is Brainiac's soldier. I think I did the stats right, save for the 2 free acquisitions I have yet to choose. I'll have some time to answer the questionnaire on Monday morning!
I will be out of town from Saturday March 12th until Sunday March 20th. I may be able to check in sporadically during this time, but posts will be much less frequent. I will resume normal posting and catch up when I return.
Zathra bows to the members of Tino's Toughest, thanking them for the good match. "We should have those runes affixed to our weapons, then head to the temple."
Tarik steps closer to Takatorra and attacks, while Zathra hurls another bit of debris.
Zathra moves behind Tarik, then she and her eidolon act together. As she telekinetically hurls a rock at Takatorra, the phantom's neck stretches out to impossible lengths. He pecks at Takatorra's legs!
Zathra grunts as she takes the hit in stride. She acts together with Tarik, stepping back as the eidolon steps to flank Takatorra with Zhilan. The phantom strikes with his beak, knocking the enlarged tengu down!
We are waiting on Zhilan now, yes?
All of Tarik's attacks have been nonlethal, for the record. :)
Zathra steps away from Takatorra follows up with a telekinetic projectile aimed at Tino.
Tarik continues to pound on the champion as well, knocking him back down again!
Alright in that case, Tarik will use Furious Strike with his beak (+22 Attack, 4d8+13 Damage). If he hits he’ll use Knockdown to knock Tino prone. If he misses, he will make a second beak attack. (+17 Attack, 2d8+11 Damage).
Unable to make a detailed post at this time, GM. Please roll for me. Zathra will cast boost eidolon and cloak of colors on Tarik. Tarik will attack the nearest foe, flanking it if able to do so. Thanks.
I'll be taking another short staycation from 1/1 through 1/5. Posting will be sporadic until I return to work on 1/6.
Is there a battle map posted? I didn't see it on Roll20. Also, can Zathra start out having Tarik summoned, or will I need to summon him in the first round?
