The Exchange

Male Gnome (Gear) Mechamage 2

Zander Cogvalt takes a shot at one of the gnolls with his rifle 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9 doing 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 if it hits. Unfortnately the bullet from the rifle flies wide from its target. As for Copperbottom, he'll hold his ground and punch any Gnoll or monster that gets close.

The Exchange

Male Gnome (Gear) Mechamage 2

Zander readies his loaded rifle and takes aim 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

He orders his golem to hold its ground and punch any of those hyena men that move in his reach.

The Exchange

Male Gnome (Gear) Mechamage 2

Zander hops back into his golem and says, "Forward Copperbottom. Follow that woman!"

He points toward Emile.

The Exchange

Male Gnome (Gear) Mechamage 2

Zander spends 4 hours doing repairs his golem, healing it of 4d10 + 12 ⇒ (7, 6, 2, 1) + 12 = 28 hit points of damage. He then buffs out the dents with an application of the Mending Spell.

The Exchange

Male Gnome (Gear) Mechamage 2

Zander taking his chance gets out of the Golem and makes a run for it. He hopes to himself that the Beast will leave the remains of Copperbottom alone so that he can go back for him later and fix him up, but for now digression is the better part of valor. He bolts away leaving Copperbottom laying dormant on the ground but not completely destroyed.

The Exchange

Male Gnome (Gear) Mechamage 2

The golem topples over and sparks on the ground. If it were not for the steadfast enhancement the golem would be beyond repair. Still Cogvolt finds himself in a bad position inside the Howrah of a smashed up golem with a beast looming over him.

"You dammed beast! You wrecked My Copperbottom you bastard!" He yells in frustration.

Ok here is the damage Rifle Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

The golem reels from the mighty blow of the mutant (Taking 17 damage due to its DR 1)

The Golem counter attacks with its held action, attempting to slam the mutant with its metal fist. 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

If it hits it does 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 damage.

As for Cogvolt's action he orders his golem to do a full withdraw action. It backs away 50 feet without providing. As this is a complex order it takes a move action. As a standard he reloads his rifle.

The Exchange

Male Gnome (Gear) Mechamage 2

Zander on his turn takes a shot with his rifle loaded with Heavy Shot (-1 to hit but +2 damage)

Rifle Shot: 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 4 - 1 = 19

Does that hit the monster?

The next question is Weapon Sizes. In Thunderscape small sized rifles do the same damage as medium sized rifles. But in normal pathfinder rules small sized weapons have a lower damage die rating. What is your ruling?

The Exchange

Male Gnome (Gear) Mechamage 2

Zander & Copperbottom go on 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 (They share initiative as Zander is currently mounted on his golem)

The Exchange

Male Gnome (Gear) Mechamage 2

Zander get up and leaps into the back Hodah of his golem and says, "Ready to face what's commin fella!"

He pulls out his rifle from the satchel and aims it at the coming enemy.

As for his commands to Copperbottom he says, "Hold your ground Copperbottom. If that big frog comes near, pummel him with your fists."

The Exchange

Male Gnome (Gear) Mechamage 2

Zander Cogvalt says, "Copperbottom never sleeps my friend. As a golem he does not the sleep like us non-metal folk need. Still I'll have to shut him down if I want to change his installed abilities although currently they should be sufficient. As for Copperbottom acting as a watchguard he can do so to a minor extent so long as my command is specific. Problem is he is not very perceptive or intelligent without me guiding him. I do have a spell that can improve his capabilities but unfortunately it only lasts one hour at my current magical competence. Not useful enough for our purposes."

He looks to Copperbottom and says, "Copperbottom look around and yell out "Danger!" as loud as you can if something other than those present approaches the camp."

Copperbottom nods and begins looking around.

(OOC: This could be troublesome though considering Copperbottom will follow the command literally. He could yell out danger if something like a rat came running by. Hence why there is a Golemguard spell that can allow more complex guard-duty commands. He also has a perception of +0 so he is not very adept. He does have darkvision 60 feet and low-light vision though)

The Exchange

Male Gnome (Gear) Mechamage 2

Zander says, "Well Copperbottom can lift about 175 Pounds and still move at a normal pace. He could carry up to 350 pounds but that would slow him down. Fortunately as a mighty Golem, he does not suffer from fatigue so he could carry that weight Indefinately."

The Exchange

Male Gnome (Gear) Mechamage 2

Zander orders Copperbottom to halt and stands back from the tree not trusting its odd looks.

"I ain't getting close to an evil lookin tree like that. The Mana wastes have lots of dangers. That tree could be alive for all we can tell."

The Exchange

Male Gnome (Gear) Mechamage 2

Zander says, "Welp, might as well mount up for the journey. With the dangers of the wastes it will be safer for me to ride on the back of Copperbottom. Besides with the modifications I have given him he should be able to keep pace with the rest of the party."

Zander climbs into the howdah on the back of his golem and syncs himself with the golem using his empathic link to control the golem's movements. He also pulls out his rifle and makes sure he has a round in the chamber ready to go.

"This Silt Pond looks as good a place as any to search. Probably at least some of the reagents can be found there."

The Exchange

Male Gnome (Gear) Mechamage 2

Zander hears of the reagents and says, "Manabloom and fungus seem like something that is useful for potions. But why would we need to find a rat tail? I am sure there is plenty of rats around town although with rats crawlling through filthy places the tails would likey cause a sickness rather than cure one."

The Exchange

Male Gnome (Gear) Mechamage 2

Zander walks to the shop with the group with his golem Copperbottom lumbering behind. Zander lets the big folk take the lead though with the diplomacy side of things.

The Exchange

Male Gnome (Gear) Mechamage 2

Zander Cogvalt chuckles at Silver's comment and says, "Dangerous? Oh no. Copperbottom is as tame as a kitten. He does exactly what I tell him to do. Of course if that means pummeling some bandits into a pulp with his mighty fists, he certainly can do that in spades so long as he's told to do so. Still I have to be specific with my commands as Copperbottom will take the path of least resistance, which may involve destroying some furniture along the way."

The Exchange

Male Gnome (Gear) Mechamage 2

Zander says to the bartender, "A job you say? Well if it pays well then certainly I am interested. It takes a lot of funding to purchase magical supplies these days."

He looks to James and says, "As for why I am here? Well I heard the Mana Wastes hold much state of the art technology and I am looking to salvage the lost technology and rebuild it as good as new, if not better. Nothing I like more than building new things. With my discovery and building of Copperbottom here I have taken the first step in my path to become a master of Golemancy."

The Exchange

Male Gnome (Gear) Mechamage 2

Zander says to James, "I of course built Copperbottom myself. I studied the art of Golemancy at the wizard school of Magnamar for your information. I do admit though that the materials are those I could salvage from the Mana Wastes. In addition, very powerful spells are needed to create a golem, far beyond what I am able to muster in my own. Fortunately there was still a bound elemental spirit in the remains. Using a bolt of lightning from a mana storm I was able to revitalize this Golem and he has been my faithful companion ever since."

The Exchange

The Entomancer has access to healing spells and not everyone has to be an Aden class. We do have a Gunslinger after all.

The Exchange

Male Gnome (Gear) Mechamage 2

Perception check to sense James come in 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18

"What's that I hear? The sound of an engine? That's music to my ears."

He says to Copperbottom. "Copperbottom, carry me outside of this place. We have a machine to investigate."

Copperbottom with Zander on his shoulders marches out of the tavern and turns to take a look at the 3 assembled people near the posting board. His eyes fall onto James immedately.

"Ho there friend. It sounds to me you've got some kind of mechanical engine under that coat of yours. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Zander Cogvalt, master of mechanical and magical wonders. And this golem I am on top of is my trusty companion Copperbottom. Say hello to the nice man Copperbottom."

A booming voice comes from the Golem as it opens its metal maw and says "Hello"

Zander Cogvalt then continues "It is a pleasure to meet another who is so interested in state of the art engineering."

The Exchange

Wands of healing are good and Zander can certainly try and UMD one. However Wands/Potions are poor substitites and don't provide ways to cure crippling conditions like Disease, Poison, Paralysis, Ability Drain, Level Drain or other nasty things.

The Exchange

We really could use a Healer-Type character. Zander while reasonable with the Heal Skill can really only repair his golems hitpoints, he is not able to heal himself. Still being an arcane caster he can cover the Arcane Magical Side of things we may encounter.

The Exchange

Male Gnome (Gear) Mechamage 2

A gnome with stark black hair, a big nose and a long mustache and a short beard walks into the tavern of the Hollow End. He wears a long coat over a pair of overalls and shirt with bandolier with a number of small pouches. Around his waste is a belt decked out with numerous tools as well as a pistol and a dagger at his side. Slung over his back is a backpack as well as a rifle stored in a holster. On his head he wears a wide brimmed hat with a pair of goggles he currently has wrapped around the top.

Soon after entering there is some audible footsteps as a man-sized bulky golem walks into the location behind him. The golem is 7 feet tall with sizeable fists and legs and a solid looking body. The golem's eyes glow a faint green and it has a solid looking metal jaw that looks rather unsettling. The golem appears to be made of a mix of copper and bronze with some steel rivets in important places. The scent of tangy copper emanates from the golem. While generally clean looking, certain parts of the golem's shell has turned greenish due to Oxidization. You can see on the back of the golem there appears to be some kind of metallic howdah large enough fit a small-sized creature.

Zander looks to his golem and says, "Well well Copperbottom. It looks like we've found ourselves the local drinking hole of this settlement. Should be a good place to kick up my heels and get a drink don't ya think?"

The Copperbottom just shrugs a bit not interpreting any clear orders from, Zander's banter. Zander says to him, "Alright Copperbottom, follow behind me Copperbottom and don't step on any furniture or people along the way."

Zander goes up to the bar while Copperbottom moves behind him avoiding any obstacles. Zander quickly sees he's too small to sit at the bar being only 3"5 in height. He looks to Copperbottom and says, "Kindly lift me up onto your shoulders Copperbottom. I would like to talk to the bartender."

Copperbottom gives a gentle lift up letting Zander park his keester on top of the golem's large sholders.

Zander says to the bartender, "Zander Cogvalt, master of mechanic and magical wonders. A pleasure to meet you my good man. Might I partake of the house special of your local beverage. I have traveled far and looking for a fine drink to get on my day."

The Exchange

Ready to go! I put my characters background on his sheet.

The Exchange

Here is my Mechamage character Zander Cogvalt, the Gear Gnome (A listed racial variant for Gnomes) with his trusty Copper & Bronze Golem Copperbottom

Will make a background soon for him.

Alisha nods to Morossa and says, "Indeed Morossa. Seven is the number of fortune but Nine is the number of Hell. This indeed is a trick for fools and is not the pendent we are looking for. This is but a trap for the unwary so be on alert. Speaking of which, I see something unusual over there."

She heads to wall and looks around at the secret door. She looks carefully for a way to open the door in the wall and opens it if possible.

The Exchange

Male Gnome (Gear) Mechamage 2

Amanda also looks around and moves silently as they move to the next room.

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 - 3 ⇒ (13) + 8 - 3 = 18

The Exchange

Male Gnome (Gear) Mechamage 2

Amanda says to the group, "Those snakes were quite a dangerous obstacle but we have proven our resolve yet again. The metal these snakes are made of appears to be valuable. We should gather up that which remains in a sack and take it with us. It may be useful for crafting purposes in the future. Once this is done we should continue onto the next task before us."

The Exchange

Male Gnome (Gear) Mechamage 2

Amanda keeps maintaining the flank and hitting the creature

Mace attack: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 2 = 8

The blow goes wide however

The Exchange

Male Gnome (Gear) Mechamage 2

Amanda double teams one of the snakes with Lisbeth, seeking to focus her efforts in bringing down the snake and positioning herself to flank.

Mace Attack (Flank): 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 2 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

The Exchange

Male Gnome (Gear) Mechamage 2

Amanda joins in the funneling of the snake getting into a position where she can double team the snake in melee with Lisbeth.

The Exchange

Male Gnome (Gear) Mechamage 2

My initiative is now +6 by the way due to one of my class abilities that adds my wisdom and dexterity to initiative. I go on a 7

Amanda moves up to the closest metal snake and takes a wack at it once space is given.

Mace Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

The Exchange

Male Gnome (Gear) Mechamage 2

Amanda will also do the usual search for traps. As for her location she is behind Lisbeth, wielding her Mace and Shield.

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

The Exchange

Male Gnome (Gear) Mechamage 2

Amanda says, "Very well Wizard Izbahn. You shall be a wizard I hired on to this group of devotees in order to aid our group. That should be a good enough excuse for Sir Bailn."

Indeed my character also makes sure her brand is hidden under the illusion of the iron circlet.

The Exchange

Male Gnome (Gear) Mechamage 2

Amanda in her new disguise says to Raymond, "I am quite skilled in deception my friend. I hid quite well within the ranks of the Mitran church for some time before a betrayal revealed my identity. Indeed I was able to deceive Timeon and get him to speak freely his secrets. As for your solider uniform, that should work just fine. It is certainly plausible that Mitran soldiers would accompany a group of Mitran clergy."
