Zamanda had been kicking it in Korvosa for a while, trying to make sure her parents were good and revisiting her old haunts, but everyone seemed to be weird around her now... and I mean, she was huge and had wings now, but still... would have been nice if someone were able to look past that.

She researched how to destroy the blood pool and had some ideas, but needed help figuring out how to actually get it done...

And then, finally, Bash was back and asking her to solve impossible problems again. This normal life stuff wasn't working. This was exactly what she needed. Now all of her magic items would be put to good use, and she could feel good that she was trying to make the world a better place rather than just hoarding.

Wow... the destruction of the Everdawn Pool sounds impossible. A mortal that has lived 10 times as long as its natural lifespan? How many of those are you going to get that are willing to potentially sacrifice themselves to destroy the pool?

Maybe Zamanda has a new goal... try to figure out how to live 10 times as long as a normal Aasimar, so she can destroy that pool. :)

I don't know if I really have an ending for Zamanda. Her character has already come a long way, but I don't think she is settling down or staying here. She'd wait and see if they could find how to destroy the artifacts and then go with Bash (and whoever else) to make sure that happens. Personally, she'd make sure her family is taken care of, and might hook up with Sabina if Sabina keeps staying at her place, but it also might be weird because Zamanda killed the queen and all, so not sure it would work. She'll likely just keep wandering, addicted to adventuring and feeling like a hero... maybe look into the whole angel thing and whether there is religious significance to who she is now, try to figure out that side of her life, find other Aasimars, etc. She's gotten to this point, which is amazing, but she's still searching.

Zamanda fishes the original Korvosan crown out of the portable hole and hands it to him so he can complete his ensemble, and shows them the other things that they found that belong in the treasury.

Note: Not giving back the queen's belongings, just the pile of stuff that was downstairs that was clearly noted as being stuff we should give back. (Alternate timeline Zamanda likely ran off with it all during a strange teleportation problem where you showed up without her, but *this* Zamanda is cool and gives at least that part of it back.)

In answer to the "how can we repay you" question, Zamanda asks them to put some resources behind helping Bash research how to destroy some ancient artifacts, and for her father to be restored to his position as an Arbiter since that means a lot to him.

Zamanda hits the inn, first getting some food and then she asks the innkeeper if she can sing something, being full of some emotion that she wanted to express... joy, hope, relief? She wasn't sure, but she would sleep better if she could sing it out a little.

Zamanda makes sure she has all the treasure in the three portable holes divided up by what belonged to her, what belonged to the group, and what they were giving back to Korvosa, and then said she was ready to go.

She suggested they exit via the secret door so they didn't have to have yet another swim, and then they had Ilsa do the longer teleport back to...

Cressida Kroft's office? My place? The castle?

Okay, so are we done with the game, or do we need to hunt down ways to destroy this stuff... the blood pool, the fangs, etc.?

I was hoping that at least Serithial would be able to harm it... and yes, agreed that we need to do some research, because letting this place continue to exist is just asking for trouble in the future.

We should probably also get the shards of the crown of fangs melted down. I would feel safer, even though it seems to be clearly destroyed already.

Zamanda feeds the corpse to the fish. Still depends on Ilsa's agreement/cooperation though, since she is the one that charmed the fish.

If it is big enough, Zamanda teleports inside the container and transfers the treasure to the portable hole that they found on Ileosa's body (rather than her own), since some of this treasure will likely need to be returned to Korvosa.

Kalem, perhaps you are forgetting that the queen's pet soldiers *watched* her die. They still believe that false Ileosa was her, and the city is celebrating her death already. Bringing back her corpse would just confuse things. ... And who do you think isn't going to believe us?

...I mean, even if it were an issue, they would still believe me if I lied to them, so I don't see the problem.

When they are ready, Zamanda gathers up the unclaimed items, then picks up the queen's body to fly down with her.

Ilsa, can you tell your fish friend that this is a gift for him, and he doesn't need to hang around the pyramid anymore? If that doesn't work, we can fight him, but might as well try.

Responding to Bash, Zamanda says I don't know... maybe both? But if we destroy all the crystal, I'm hoping that will break the magic that must be bound up in it.

Kalem, do you think that your weapon can take the crystal up there?

Zamanda realizes that she doesn't need her boots of levitation anymore now that she can fly, and offers them to anyone that needs them to be able to get up to the higher crystal stuff (Feel free to keep if it matters to you here at the end of the story.).

Also, taking the queen's headband of mental prowess +4 (int/wis), but have a +2 version of the same thing if someone else wants it. No charge. :)

She lays out the queen's stuff and throws in some of her own in case anyone wants to upgrade before they continue downstairs to finish destroying the workings of this place.

She also points out that the queen has an Ioun stone that allows you to not need air in case anyone wants to equip it before they go feed the body to the fish and see what is in those other rooms... probably more crystal stuff they need to destroy down there as well.

I really do want to feed the fish her body. It might feel satisfying. Is that going to be a problem for the paladin? If so, no worries, but I do think it would be a nice touch.

Zamanda cleans dragon gore off of everyone (and dries everyone's shoes if anyone is still a little squelchy from the water), then she gets back to looting the queen's body.

As she does so she says

We should probably break all of the crystal in this place so that no one else can use this blood pool thing. Especially since it is the blood of ourselves and the rest of Korvosa... we have to destroy the means for anyone to use it again.

I didn't see anything, but I did have a feeling, like... I don't know, that I was being faced by my own mortality and that we needed to end this here and now, or things could get much worse. I guess I had been thinking of Ileosa as the ultimate evil for a while, but I suppose whatever was in that crown that was giving her strength was much worse. I'm glad that we could stop it before it was unleashed on the world.

In general I am inclined to leave the decision to Bash, since that's who had the vision in the story.

If I were forced to choose, then I would choose the non-vision events, because I think it is wiser not to have risked that battle, and put an end to it sooner.

My question is--is there any benefit to making it real? Have we actually killed Kazavon and prevented him from coming back in the future, or are those fangs lying there in the dust just the seeds of the whole thing happening over again?

I kind of put up a joke post... so if we need to be serious and you guys think you can win, just replace the whole thing with "Zamanda delays her turn."

I thought of one other idea but couldn't figure out how to make it work.... if I could get the cursed chatter ring on it, I bet that would incapacitate it as well... I think that would take more than one roll though, and no way am I going to get more than one lucky roll in a row, so I guess not worth rolling to see. Would have been funny though, if I could have figured out how.

Since this is a vision, I'm mixing it up and making it a choose your own adventure.

Basically, since every square is threatened and will draw an AOO, there isn't anything for her to do without risking death, so I came up with some death-defying options.

--If you would like to escape, turn to Random Option #1
--If you would like to have the dragon leave, turn to Random Option #2
--If you want to try something a little more outlandish, please turn to Random Option #3

Random Option 1:

Zamanda sees that the fight is lost already, and casts Bard's Escape to move everyone to the dry hallway two levels below that leads to the secret exit.

Concentration (Cast Defensively): 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (8) + 20 = 28

That's a pass... DC would be 15 +double spell level, so 25. Squeaks by more closely than I would like, but prevents the dragon from AOOing Zamanda to instant death while casting.

No save, no SR, but subjects do have to be willing... so if you aren't, you stay. If you are, you move. Can move 7 people besides myself, and we're all within 30 feet of someone else in the group, so distance should be fine.

Random Option 2:

I have no idea what the dragon's CMD is, but I'm guessing that is a fail. However, dropping something is a free action, and she *is* 10 feet tall, so, continuing...

The dragon catches her moving, and lashes out, but as she falls and is dying, she reaches over and drops her portable hole into Ileosa's portable hole, causing an extradimensional cataclysm, destroying them both, and sending both her own expiring corpse AND the dragon to the Astral Plane.

Random Option 3:

Knowing she is going to die, Zamanda can only think of one way out. She unstoppers her Decanter of Endless Water, and aims for the dragon's maw. There's no way she can make the shot...

Throw Decanter into Dragon's Mouth: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (20) + 19 = 39

But amazingly, with the luck of the gods, she DOES. At the last moment, as it is disappearing down his throat she says the command word, forcing it to bring forth a geyser.

30 gallons a round. I have no idea how big dragon stomachs are, but I'm betting it can't handle that for very long.

Kalem, I don't have any debuffs... I mean, I think that Bards can have them, but not how mine is built. I can't reduce the AC for you at all... and apparently I am only going to be able to hit on a 20, so not sure I can help at all, actually.

Honestly glad this is just a vision. I'll just stand and die, but actual Zamanda would be using Bard's Escape to teleport everyone to the secret pyramid exit just now. Queen down, uncontrollable way-worse evil unleashed on the world. Check.

Sorry, you mentioned it, but I don't know what the aura of justice benefit is, so I can't include a number in my rolls. I don't see it listed in a post or in the party or individual buffs. If it is at least one though, then with my forgotten +5 from the ring and that point from Bash, I wouldn't be shaken from last turn, and I would make the save below as well, for half damage, so going with that, but let me know if I am applying it inappropriately.

Okay, here's my strategy for the mythic dragon fight. Zamanda remembers seeing both a portable hole and a handy haversack in the queen's possessions. So, using mage hand she takes both and puts the rolled up hole into the haversack close enough so that the dragon gets sucked into the black hole of doom (but not her allies).

I mean, in normal circumstances she wouldn't destroy valuable things like that, but in the face of certain death she might. :)

Moved Zamanda to where she would have been beside the queen's body.

Zamanda finds a stunning ring on the queen as she is beginning to loot it, and tries it on, pocketing the invisibility ring she had been wearing on that hand. Not necessarily keeping it if someone else wants it, but might come in handy just now (+5 deflection bonus to AC, +5 resistance bonus on saving throws, and spell resistance 22).

Zamanda is satisfied to see the Crown of Fangs destroyed, but when yet another dragon starts coming out of the pool, she wonders if they have inadvertently unleashed something... maybe they should have destroyed the crown elsewhere?

Zamanda looks shocked for a second that her arrow actually did that much damage and the queen wasn't healing from it, but then she smiled. Of course, her prayers had been answered. Someone was listening after all. Korvosa could continue to heal... the queen would not be returning.

She stops singing, assuming that the other duplicates would be dispatched quickly now that the queen was dead.

After Ilsa has her fun, Zamanda starts looting the queen's body. She glances at the crown but doesn't approach it from where it has been kicked. She asks Bash

So, what do we do with that? Can Serithial break it, perhaps? I'm not sure that will work, but it would be something.

To the group she adds

...I also think we need to trace these crystal tubes back and destroy the ability for this place to do whatever blood magic it does. I don't pretend to understand it, but hopefully we can break it anyway. ... Might have to kill that fish Ilsa made friends with after all though. Err... unless you think he would be calmed by feeding him her body? I'm still a little bitter, have to admit, and I wouldn't mind seeing that, but since she was his friend and all, it also might upset him.

After gathering up any loot, Zamanda will take a look at the crystal tubes up here and see if there is anything she can do... would they melt/shatter if she applied a lot of fire magic, for instance? Or could Kalem hack them enough to break them?

Zamanda looked at the hope in Laori's eyes, and could for the first time see in her what Kalem did. She knew she would disappoint that hope, since her arrows up to now hadn't been able to hit the queen at all... they bounced off like toothpicks. ... But those eyes meant that she would try anyway.

She nodded her thanks and her agreement, then still singing, turned towards the true queen, trying again to hit her with the adamantine arrows, and praying mentally for help from whoever cared to make a difference for good to guide her hand.

She stays close enough for her Discordant Voice to be effective, however... not sure it will work on the evil bard/devil/whatever combination, but might as well try everything possible.

Then she takes a single shot, knowing she will have to get lucky to be able to hit her hyped up defenses.

With the retcon of the dragon already dead, I added back my HP, and these attacks would be directed at Ileosa. Also, question... it looks like one of the Ileosas is floating above the shaft. Is that accurate?

That Fort Save is a fail by 3 on a straight roll, but Bash has a bonus up for everyone as well, I believe... but not sure if I was within the distance required, or if there are other requirements. Which part is the "bonus" damage I shouldn't multiply on a crit... the inspire and point blank, or all of the additions to the main number from gloves, discordant voice, electric+holy damage in the arrows from my archery skill, etc? (I wasn't sure because you said "except" the shocking burst, so was wondering if the normal elemental and holy damage is also not doubled.) Just so I remember to leave it off next time I get a crit.)

Guessing that means that we can't drain/destroy the blood pool, but if there is a way to do that, Zamanda would pursue it.

When they get to the next shaft going up, Zamanda first casts Gravity Bow again, and then, when everyone is ready to move on, she tries out her new wings, flying upward with bow in hand.

My wings give me a fly speed of 30, which I am guessing means I don't have to roll to just fly normally, but please correct me if I am wrong. It also means that it will take 2 rounds for me to fly up, in case that makes a difference as events take place.
