He hadn't moved from the spot where he passed out the night before: the Blue Dragon's floor. His belongings hadn't moved either. Perhaps he was lucky or maybe a colourfully dressed dragonborn who sometimes spoke as a pirate and laughed way too often way too loud made possible thieves think twice. "Shiver me timbers! Either I drank handsomely or me deadlights got hurt in a brawl, the sunlight sure is bright today! Hahahahahaha!" he commented mostly to himself, as he stood up. "Did I tell them that time I met Robilar? I remember drawing me cutlass and reenacting the battle! Wait a moment..." the dragonborn's eyes open widely as he looks around, his face showing increasing anger. "MUCKLE DAMRED THIEVES 'AIR EH NAMBLIES BE KEEPIN' ME TARRY!" he yells before noticing the item he is holding, the one he thought was stolen and the only thing he loved more than himself: his stuffed tarrasque named Tarry. Shame turning his face red after the hubbub he started out of nothing, Zahk bursted into laugter "Sink me if I am not a fool! Hahahaha!" the dragonborn said as he packed Tarry into his bag and apologized to the innkeeper before exiting the Blue Dragon. Once outside, Zahk inhaleded deeply, enjoying the fresh air of the morning as he turned to the message board. He came to the Free City to become a great warrior and hero, like Robilar did here as well years ago, and every wannabe hero needs a quest to prove himself...

While it's indeed true that he did have no true party but hirelongs, let's not forget Robilar's two main advantages: a total disregard for his hirelings' lives and a combat style that allowed him to counterattack. I mean, I remember 3.5 fondly and Robilar's Gambit made you into an avatar of "Nu-uh GM, as he attacks me I attack him, killing it and feeding off his blood and your tears." That's why Robilar ranks number two on my 'Favourite Gygax and Co Characters list'. First is, obviously, Erac's Cousin. You simply can't love him.
Eh, eh, eh. Most of those cutpurses are fine fellows. Some of them even outstanding pillars of the community! Well, the cutpursing community. Why do you look at me like that? Does every paladin have to be pure and exceedingly good from start? Let me get a sip of my absinthe before quoting grandpa Paarthurn: "What is better? To be born good or to overcome your evil nature through great effort? The answer is gold. Gold is better. A huge hoard of gold is best."
This is Emissary's Dragonborn Paladin of Pelor: Zahk! I used the Additional Traits feat both because I didn't want to simply pick Power Attack and to express his long and complicated life until this very moment. One of said extra traits went into Rich Parents to show his earnings as a young pirate and so I could afford a complete and flamboyant attire -complete with ruby incrusted scimitar, 50 gold worth pirate hat, jewels and a motherf&@&ing POCKET WATCH!- and luxury items like absinthe, a collapsible bathtub and chocolate. I usually consider that trait to be utter and complete s@~*, but I think if reflavoured to "Pirate Booty! ARRR" it fits him quite nice. I will finish writing his backstory and add it to the profile, so only one question: EltonJ, do you prefer me to come up with an Evil God/Goddess responsible of the temple where he was born or should I leave it as mysterious? |
