The owl on his shoulder hoots once. Yanbrel raises the wand, and unleashes a gout of fire that that surges past his allies.

"Oh, very well," Yanbrel huffs, stepping down the hole to join Moll and Kargen. "We never have seen one of these types up close."

He grips the flask in one hand and the wand in his other, brandishing the former menacingly at the fallen ghoul.

He'd try a hex, but after the last encounter in Night March I'm assuming his 20 Int would figure out that undead are immune to mind-affecting effects.

Yanbrel reels back as the undead enter the too-close-for-comfort radius. He snaps his wrist out in a particular fashion, launching a wand into his palm from a hidden sheath beneath his sleeve. He brandishes the device at the nearest zombie like a flaming torch, reaching out to inflict the creature with positive energy.

Swift draw wand from spring-loaded wrist sheath, then CLW on #3.

I don't know if that requires an attack roll of any sort, but his Str and Dex mods are +0 and +2 respectively, with +0 BAB and +1 attack from inspire courage.

I don't think Yanbrel has any drawn weapons with which to threaten adjacent and take AoOs anyway. He'll probably have a wand in one hand and a vial in the other for most of this encounter.

We had a similar discussion in a home game recently, Beckett. The rule as I remember it was allowing any weapon to be improvised to do bludgeoning damage (piercing and slashing require a sharp point or edge, but most every weapon has a flat, pommel, or haft you could whack someone with), but we couldn't find it on the books either.

"Fancy that," Yanbrel muses, at the appearance of the undead. Drawing a flask from his pack, he prepares to descend after his hardier companions.

"Very authentic," he notes approvingly. "The artist was a master." As if to compare the textures, he draws from a pouch a small scrap of leather. Then, as if sparking a better idea, he spends a moment to recite a series of gestures and incantations. A shimmering field appears momentarily to outline his form, then fades away just as swiftly.

Yanbrel was threatened by Bengeirr in his previous location, and I didn't want to risk him taking an AoO and just going down, so chose the slower, more reliable course.

Shaking his head, the witch taps the fighter's unconscious corpse with his magic healing stick. Once Moll is solid back in the realm of the living, Yanbrel draws his crossbow to deal with the threat at hand.

Aha, I missed the part where he got GMPC'd for a turn. In that case, he'll withdraw to where he is now, and draw his wand from the sheath as a swift action.

Yanbrel is still in the middle of casting Sleep, even though OOC Bengeirr already made his save, so he'll use his standard action this round to finish the spell. He does have a wand of CLW prepared in a spring-loaded wrist sheath, so he could heal Moll next round if that seems like the best course.

The witch grimaces as his spell fails to knock out the northman.

Glancing over his shoulder, he sees Moll lying unconscious and bleeding on the deck of the ship. Yanbrel steps onto the bridging plank and draws a morningstar from his belt, reluctant but ready to engage Bengeirr if he pursues.

What's the terrain situation for Yanbrel and Moll? That is, what sort of special action, if any, would be required for them to get onto either the larger boat or the dock?

Yanbrel hops up from where he had slumped into the borrowed chair to endure Angruf's camaraderie. The sudden motion jostles awake Goody, who had nodded off on the witch's shoulder some minutes ago. The uncanny bird clicks its beak in annoyance.

"I certainly agree," Yanbrel replies to his familiar, "but he's no worse about it than the rest of his folk. Let us get some air."

Resting a hand on his scroll box again, Yanbrel strolls down the dock and hops aboard Moll's commandeered dingy.

"You're the burglar, yes? What's the plan?"

"Oh, he must be faking," Yanbrel declares loudly to his companions. He holds up a hand to his shoulder, and Goody atop his wrist. He lowers the owl to his chest, stroking the unblinking bird as he paces the room.

"In debt to our noble Captain from a reckless wager no doubt. By the looks of our friends at the gate, this warrior has a habit of poor business decision. But no, the Longaxes are fighters, not performers. He must have poisoned himself, to complete the ruse. After his death, his bonds would be paid out from his estate, and he would be free to roam oblivion. Or is that's what he wants us to think? This not the real Skelg at all, but only an illusion. Show yourself, you whooping fraud!"

Yanbrel casts Detect Magic and sweeps the room.

Yanbrel will make a Sleight of Hand check to draw a scroll of hypnotism from his scroll box. If the guards notice, he will try to Bluff that he was taking out the letter (maybe throw him some Aid on the second check?)

So it seems like stealth is an option here, but I'm not sure what the IC justification is for sneaking into a house we've been invited to visit. I'm all for just walking up to the gate, unless someone has a better idea.

The epic feel of Silent Tide was one of my favorite parts in comparison to other, more localized scenarios, so this sounds like a good time.

I'm strongly tempted to retrain my Half-Orc Inquisitor of Abadar into an Investigator, based on the blurb alone. He was originally a Detective Bard, intended to played as sort of a gruff PI type. Angruf knows what I'm talking about. The only thing is I already have two Alchemists in PbPs, a PFS Grenadier and a non-PFS Vivisectionist.

But who knows, if the beta classes are legal for PFS progression, I might just shuffle around several of my 1st levels to keep things balanced.

I've only played a couple season 0 scenarios myself. Mists of Mwangi had a couple interesting elements, but was a bit shallow and poorly gated, and it completely rolled over to six-person table. Silent Tide, however, was a enjoyable challenge for a party of four, with an exciting plot and an at least one interesting mechanic for every encounter. Haven't gotten that far into Perils of the Pirate Pact, but so far it's been pretty good.
