"Well..there's nothing stopping us from simply looking into the room. If we maybe see something we think is useful, then we figure out a way in. Other wise? Lets just make a note and move on, hey?' Xochti suggests.
Xochti, after lending as much of the little strength she has at getting Aden back up on the level, steps up to the door frame and puts her back to the wall. She is getting ready to peer around the corner of the door frame.
Xochti also points out that if Aden stands on this particular side of the door when he works the handle he'll be less likely to get smacked over the edge by the thing.
Xochti shakes her head, "No real skill...but a bit of engineering lets one understand the gist of the thing." She points.
"The door is rigged to spring open and throw who ever is in front of it back into the water." Xochti moves over and examine said pool of liquid blackness.
perception:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
(And add the DM's exposition of whatever said fluid is capable of doing to a body)
She returns to the door and examines the handle mechanism.
"So...if we can some how twist the opening mechanism from afar, we should have the door open and no one wet." She looks to her Uncle for approval or addition thoughts.
"Hmm....unstable lines in the rocks here..." She muses, "Possible fractures...." She slowly wanders towards the metal door. "Maybe extra bracing to keep the chamber beyond from collapsing in...?" She ponders.
Perception:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22 (Looking for traps and such, though no skill in disarming them)
As of his time I have neither the energy, nor inclination to reply to the thread's happenings. Been a long series of shifts and the differences in time-zones isn't helping.
I do hope the other players/characters can have fun/get a good run up at saving the kids.
Lots of work and no sleep make Peebo not a happy...something, something...
Xochti moves to make sure the door is clear for people to get out, even as she continues to watch the floor and the ominous cracks which are spreading across it.
Xochti gasps as Aden leaps forwards and deals with the Derro. Only to watch the figure turn from twisted Dwarf into a deceased Gnome. As the blood washes over the floor and then just as quickly vanishes Xochti cries out.
Dwarven!:
"Uncle! The floor!"
"There's something under the floor!" Her language changes and she shifts her stance, all the while staring down and now, hefting her hammer, awaiting for things to go from weird to worse.
Xochti frowns and looks to her Uncle with a questioning eyebrow raised. Though she does keep glancing up to keep tabs on the crystals and their occupants.
At her Uncle's words Xochti frowns. "I say we smash the rocks and break the cycle." She points to the ceiling with her hammer, though frowning as she tries to think of a way to enact her plan.
Hmmm...any one got a ranged 'elemental' attack? Gon'a have to pick me up some spell casting, me thinks. *Ponders*
Xochti again frowns at news of the prisoners treatment. Thinking of the spiders they'd faced before her imagination is not kind at conjuring up images of what could be 'infesting' the children.
Xochti nods at Madwand's explanation/admission. She does frown as she tries to work out what his words mean to her Uncle, even as she tries to think of something else which might effect the impediment before them.
