1 person marked this as a favorite.

I can run it all the way back to the Courts, but I had originally intended it to end here.

Maybe we could find some new players in the time you need to get ready.

Alright, I’m ready to hand off the reins. Lir, you had expressed interest in running? This could also be a good chance to pick up some new players.

"Some lords of fey coveted the power of the Pretender. None may enter."

One of the knights chuckles and says with a hollow, grating voice, "Summer child, we care little for your authority. Tell us, why do you seek audience with our lady?"

I did, but the site started getting terrible when I was meaning to reply. I'll send a response soon.

With the first mention of death, the voice says, much louder, "You may pass the first gate. Your answer may be what is to come." The vast dark doors open, the sound of stone grinding on stone to reveal darkness beyond.

The day passes fairly uneventfully. The party is able to find an abandoned manor that they convert into into a temporary camp. The group reconvenes at the manor around twilight, finding themselves sitting around in the large central courtyard of the manor. Suddenly, a tall seemingly elven man steps out of a tree at the center. He wears armor sculpted from leaves and great wings of leaves extend from his back. He says in a regal voice, tinted with an accent that sounds vaguely familiar yet impossible to place, "Greetings. I am Aerach, envoy of the Princes of Summer and emissary of the King of Dandelions. My liege is in need of your aid and requests your presence in his court."

Knowledge (history or planes) DC 30 or Liriiestil:

The Princes of Summer are a powerful Seelie fey court, led by the King of Dandelions, one of the oldest fey kings.

It'll be a continuation of the game, but a side mission I'll be running.

"Hm, Thoth does not seem to be responding to my calls. I fear I will have to depart to my sanctum to investigate this, meditate on the currents of the divine." He places a hand on Zaidel's shoulder and says, "My friend, take care of the pack in my stead." He turns to the others and says, "Know that I will be watching over you all." He steps back and closes his eyes and begins chanting, suddenly disappearing in a burst of light.

I'll have the intro post up fairly soon. My GM alias is GM Coyote, just so you all know and it doesn't come as a surprise.

Wasn't sure if people wanted me to run something. I'm more than happy to run the adventure I had planned. I'll need a day or so to prep some things but I should be good to go then.

My offer to GM still stands if Alyssa isn’t around for a while.

Not sure. If we have I had an idea for something to run, there'll be a fair amount of fey and some eldritch beings in it. Other than that I don't want to spoil much.

"Hm, travelling through time. I was not aware I could do that. Perhaps I should try that some day." He then turns to Liriiestil and says, "I must ask, what prompted this? It seemed as though we had gotten along. Why now, do you revoke the trust you placed in me?" He pauses for a moment before saying, "My followers, as it stands now, are a single young girl who has proclaimed herself my high priest. The others of the city I granted my divine protection, and they gave me worship in return. I have yet to see if that worship will continue, or if I was simply used for my power in a time of crisis. If they do prove to truly be my followers, then I shall fight with claw and wing and divine might to protect them. Besides, I cannot work such miracles as a did on a regular basis. Rather, my power is currently limited and I rely on my priests to carry out my will."

"While I am rather taken aback by your outburst, I must say that my followers are an extension of my will. I sacrifice a portion of my power so that they may aid those I have sworn to protect. No matter. We must find Thoth." V.K. stands in the center of the circle and closes his eyes. He begins to chant in an ancient language, one that is by now at least familiar to the party members. He finally raises his hands and says, "Thoth, I should greet you, and request access to your divine realm!"

"He is a god of knowledge, magic, and the moon. I believe he would be willing to share knowledge if proper respect is paid or there is an exchange of knowledge. I can take the lead when speaking to him. I believe most gods would wish to be greeted by an equal. That said, I do not know a tremendous amount beyond that." He looks about at the assembled party members and says, "If we are ready to go, I would ask that you clasp hands and form a circle. I can then begin the ritual to transport us to his domain."

”An ally and a student certainly. A friend perhaps, but certainly not one such as you. “

V.K. nods at the priestess and says warmly, "Do not be ashamed young one. I had thought to seek him out. I am glad that he is expecting me. Now go, enact my will. I expect great things." He then turns to his companions and says, "My friends, shall we venture to the realm of Thoth? My followers are working to aid the city."

The Vulture King studies the girl for a moment before saying, ”I shall take you as my first priest on this world, and while you shall know my teachings more deeply than others, and that shall give you status among my followers, know that in my eyes all who follow me are equal. Treat them such, and I will reward you. Abuse your status, and judgement will be passed.” He raises his hands, and two items coalesce in them. One is a dagger carved from stone, the hilt wrapped in leather with inscriptions of mighty and ancient beasts. The second is a bone disk with a carving of a vulture's talon on it, accentuated with red ochre. He then hands them to the girls and says, "Take these. One shall be the symbol of your faith, to channel my power. The other you shall use to protect your pack. I should hope you know to which to use."

The Vulture King concentrates for a moment, before a message can be heard in the minds of all the party members, ”Qillion, Lucas, and I will venture to the realm of Thoth, a god of knowledge. I expect to be able to find quite a few answers there. If you wish to join us, come to me.”

Hey all, I'll be camping without much, if any signal. Please bot me if I'm playing in a game, or if I'm GMing, just sit tight for a few days until I'm back.

The Vulture King nods, but narrows his eyes somewhat suspiciously, "I give my gifts to those that give proper diligence. My will is good to those who prove themselves. In any case, we have found ourselves in this new world, former prisoners in the case of most, of an ancient civilization. Earth was constructed as a form of...prison dimension designed to keep dangerous beings away from the civilization. I do not know the exact nature of this world or what imprisoned us, but I am planning on finding Thoth, a deity from old Earth. He should have answers if I am correct."

The Vulture King think for a moment before saying to Lucas, "Hm. I believe I know someone that can help. A fellow divnity from Earth, a god named Thoth. I cannot say for sure he will be thrilled to help me, scholarly types to value their privacy. In any case, I shall go with whoever wishes to accompany me to his divine sanctum." He then sets out to see if any of the other party members want to join him in going to Thoth's realm.

I'd think that V.K. would know of the Egyptian pantheon, both being ancient faiths, and Thoth more specifically. How could I go about trying to track down Thoth? He seems like the most benevolent of the knowledge gods, and plus, he and V.K. can be bird bros.

Once he’s finished the healing, the Vulture King descends to the ground. Once Lucas approaches he says, ”Secrets? Unfortunately that is not my realm of concern. Despite my divine status, I know little of the divine courts of this realm. If I knew, I would certainly assist you.”

The power flows into the Vulture King. His eyes go wide and he spreads his arms, "This is a wonderful feeling. People of Al'Lamar, I will do what I can!" Divine power begins to flow from him, seeking the injured to heal their wounds.

I'm going to use my alter reality power, beefed up by the worship, to begin healing the injured in the city. For a bit of balance's sake, I don't want to raise any corpses unless I get a lot more worship or I start using spells.

The Vulture King flies above the city and says loudly, loud enough for all in the city to hear, "My vow is not yet kept. Those wounded by the attackers, your prayers shall be answered. Allow my guidance to gifted upon you with proper recompense."

If we have a bit of downtime V.K. wants to help out the injured of Al-Lamar to garner a bit of worship. He’d also like to talk to Zaidel about his godling abilities and to Alyssa about her newfound divinity.

Edit: disregard the post I made.

Deities get a divine sanctum, which they can teleport to at will. I want to teleport myself and Kei to it, but I’m not exactly sure how the mechanics would work for it.

V.K. flies toward Kei and places his hand on the young man's forehead. He mutters, "Come with me young one. I will take you somewhere that you cannot cause any damage."

If Kei is Taken to the Sanctum:

Kei finds himself on a mountaintop at night. Stone monoliths are set in roughly concentric circles, the steep mountainsides outside of the farthest circle. Far below, a rolling arid landscape can be seen. Each monolith is exquisitely carved with images of mighty beasts battling clans of hunter-gatherers, packs of wolves and most commonly, flocks of vultures. The Vulture King says, "While you have been ensorcelled to fight me, take time to contemplate here. Allow what afflicts you to wear off. I will check on you in a while." With that, he teleports back to the battlefield.

V.K. will attempt to shift to his divine sanctum, taking Kei with him. Should Kei make a will save? If so, the save would probably be a DC 28 will save as per greater teleport.

The Vulture King spies the wizard through the haze, and begins his spell.

Concealment: 1d100 ⇒ 52

Sorry for the lack of the roll. Finals are upon me and studying has been my main priority.

Alright. I automatically succeed the perception. Should I roll miss chance or you?

I flew out of the cloud, and I'm casting litany of madness.

The Vulture King is able to avoid the worst of the damage, and the rest sloughs off of his divine shield. He takes flight out of the cloud and spies the wizard that caused the devastation. He begins chanting in an ancient and droning tongue, bringing madness upon the wicked man.

Reflex: 1d20 + 30 ⇒ (15) + 30 = 45

He'll need to make a DC 25 will save or be confused.

The Vulture King notes, "It seems like you wish for us to die so that the Wicked Man may die as well to make the universe some place of sunshine, rainbows, and flowers. You say that you want to make the state of nature one of bliss and peace. Nature as I have observed it is far from that, and I would not wish it any other way, as that would fundamentally change who I am and that of others. So I ask, why should we risk our death so that you might change the nature of reality and who we are?"

The Vulture King nods as Kamella is speaking before saying, ”So who exactly is this Wicked Man? If we are indeed to fight him then I should want to know what we are dealing with.”

The Vulture King raises his hand and the spear dissipates, the energy absorbed back into his form. He nods at her,"Then tell us. Truth is always more forgivable than deception. Besides, Kamii has seen fit to declare us enemies, so I suppose we have some common foe."

Great to see you back Joseph! V.K. will be quite happy to see that another member of his pack has stuck around.

The Vulture King summons up another spear of divine might and readies it before saying in a stern voice, "Who are you? Why have you come now, and not before? Do you serve the undead that attacked this city? Speak swiftly, so judgement may be cast."

The Vulture King manifests a divine javelin and throws it at one of the devourers.

Divine Blast: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (10) + 19 = 29
Damage: 10d10 ⇒ (5, 6, 7, 10, 1, 5, 3, 7, 6, 10) = 60

Hey all, looking forward to having you all in the game. Illia, the description of V.K. made me chuckle, spot on.

The Vulture King brings a pillar of divine fire and fury down on the devourers.

Flame Strike Damage: 14d8 ⇒ (4, 2, 5, 4, 1, 2, 8, 5, 4, 4, 6, 1, 2, 4) = 52

I’ll cast mythic flame strike, DC for half damage is 24.

The Vulture King shakes his head, ”Mighty as we are, I fear whatever is up there is stronger than we. We should try to find the others.” He pauses for a moment and shudders slightly, ”Let us hope they are alive. I need no offerings from you, my friend. Such is the bond of the pack that gifts are freely given. Here, this should stop the worst of it.” His hand glows and he places it on Zaidel’s forehead, healing light coursing through the large man.

Casting heal.

The Vulture King flies down to Zaidel and says to him, ”I am here young one. Are you well? My most potent healing is unfortunately used but I will do what I can if you are injured.”

The Vulture King says, ”An exchange of power requires proper recompense or true need. My power is freely available to my followers or my Flock, and you have proven yourself neither. So I see no great need, for if he was alive then our captors must still be at large and able to be found. That, and you have offered no recompense.”

I agree with Monkeygod on this. It strikes me as passive aggressive certainly, but not to an incredible extent. It doesn’t irk me much, though it is a bit annoying. That said, I’ve dealt with far worse. In any case, Yass, you have the final say but I thought I’d put in my two cents.

The wave of energy crashes into him. His shield of divine power stops most of it but some saps into him. The Vulture King looks at the Nameless Warrior, eyes blazing. He says in a deep voice, "I do, but why should I use my power for your ends?"

Reflex Save: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (1) + 23 = 24

The Vulture King launches his divine javelin at the worm, "Die, fell beast!"

Divine Blast Attack vs. Touch: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (8) + 18 = 26
Damage: 10d10 ⇒ (5, 8, 9, 10, 8, 10, 8, 7, 1, 7) = 73

The Vulture King nods at Zaidel and says, "Flight will not even be necessary." He places a hand on Zaidel's shoulder and says, "I have not tried this before. Let us see how it goes." With that, he teleports himself and Zaidel closer to the worm.

I'll be using my divine teleportation to get us over there.

The Vulture King nods at Zaidel, "I have not been better. I suppose I should tell you my theory of your divine spark. Divine blood seems to flow through you, blood of both physical and arcane might. I believe that you just cast a spell as a manifestation of that arcane blood. Who knows, you may be able to do it again." The Vulture King raises his hand to the sky, a javelin of divine power coalescing in it. He then says, "Well then young one, shall we go kill that giant worm?
