Vincent looked pleased with the result. His handwriting he could work on, being correct especially on the first assignment was ideal. However, his slight smirk soured as his mystery asked him to review hers only to find that she had referenced materials he hadn't thought to bring.

He narrowed his eyes a bit at her, trying to see if she was attempting to make him look foolish. He decided that perhaps she just wasn't confident and he nodded "It will do well, continue to study like you have and you'll have high scores. Perhaps you'll even beat me for top of the class." he said. There was no smugness in the proclamation, perhaps there was even a bit of a daring to challenge him for the spot.

Potions homework?: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

I think that is how you do the rolls. If I looked at this correctly, then the potion in question would have a 9 for a difficulty to create. Given I got it on the mark and am just researching and writing instead of creating it...I think I managed to do the homework correctly? I also didn't add in a boon for being a research master...but I don't know if that applied."

Vincent quickly has the prepared materials in hand. He had hoped that Professor Snape would have delved right into actually brewing a potion but he knew better than to think it was a good idea to let people who have probably only just now opened their books for the first time touch ingredients.

He scratches and scrawls fervently at his parchment while his off hand thumbs the pages to the correct materials.

Vincent picked up the bit of parchment that the professor handed out. He had thought it odd that they hadn't had a copy available yet when the other Houses had but it seemed it was another teacher's fault.

He nodded at Professor Snape and began getting out a bit of parchment and quill. He doubted their first lesson would be beyond what he'd already learned corresponding with Professor Snape over the last two summers.

Vincent slipped in quietly behind the others as he listened in on what was going on this morning. It was rather annoying that things weren't more prepared for their first day, but perhaps that was by design.

He nodded "Potions for us then...Wonderful, I rather like the concept of your brains being more worthy than something you and your wand must work together to produce. But it's a shame that our first lesson isn't a true lesson it seems. At least we'll find it easy with it being close to our dorms." he said smiling, his tone purely matter of fact.

He stared a bit at his fellow first year Slytherins "The Professor is Professor Snape if you didn't know. Very intelligent man, I've heard he's simply brilliant in the world of potion making." he said looking eager about the topic.

Vincent looked at the others and shook his head "Be yourselves, people will understand soon enough who you are and how "worthy" you may be. Annoying to try to placate anyone else. Enjoy yourself and that will prove more than enough you're Slytherins to me." he said before he set out for a bit of a jog before breakfast.

Vincent bows politely "It is a pleasure then to meet all of you. Hopefully, we shall all be a bounty to this House. As far as being a noisy sleeper...well, I've only slept alone in my home so I don't rightly know. Hopefully we are all able to sleep well. If not, I'm sure there are potions and the nurse for that." he said smiling. He stretched a bit, finding himself to be quiet tired.

He hoped that all the food at Hogwarts wouldn't be quiet as heavy as the lavish feast they had or he'd have to adjust his exercising a bit to stay fit.

Vincent looks up and over at Dragoslav when his thoughts are interrupted by the pat on the back. He nods "Indeed it seems we are. Here is hoping that this year will be an eventful one filled with knowledge and experience." he said as he made his way into the room.

He looks around at the room and spies one with a small inlet in the wall that he could lounge upon and read from while enjoying the view of the lake. He takes the bed closest to it and looks up to the others joining in their room.

"In case we did not hear each other's introductions from the sorting hat...I am Vincent Wallace, pureblood if it matters. My mum is a respected witch of the Ministry's Accidental Magic Reversal Squad. I can't say to my da's work to be honest, we don't really talk about it at the house. In case it's not become apparent, I was born and grew up in Edinburgh. Me da's, of course, a proper Scotsman but he met me mother at Hogwarts despite them being in different houses. And, yes, I own a kilt...no I will not be wearing it." he said trying to answer all the questions that may come his way.

He hopped up on his chosen bed and noticed Beast had been hiding in the shadows. That soon changed as the cat found his master had chosen his place and the large animal made himself known and home in the room. He looked at the others expectantly to introduce themselves.

Vincent's brain began to fog. Between all the excitement of the day, the conversations of varying interest, the mystery that landed on his lap, and the heavy food of the celebration...he was exhausted. When the Head boy showed up and announced that he'd take them to their dormitories, Vincent yawned tiredly and stood up stretching. He couldn't even utter a word of thanks as he followed the rest of his house to their dormitory.

Apologies, I am in the middle of a move, so I will be a couple of days before I'm able to post again. Again, apologies for the short notice. We closed on our house three weeks early.

Vincent raised a brow at Olivia's words and remembered back a bit to the sorting to grab her last name. Yaxley, Yaxley...He'd have to ask his parents about the family before approaching her further.

He wasn't exactly classist against the Slytherins who believed muggles were a bane of the Wizarding world's existence but he is never surprised by it. His mother was fond of them but his father was a purist so this kind of talk wasn't exactly surprising.

Vincent nodded at what the others were saying. "Me Dah is related to the Sacred Twenty-eight. Just an offshoot mind you but still. It's hard to find a wizarding family that isn't in some way or another." he said smiling.

He looked to Isabella "Best be careful, you'll need lots of knowledge of the laws or you'll end up at a Ministry hearing one day. It's a tricky road to try and live in the muggle world and the wizard world. Or so I'm told. I know a small bit but honestly, I'm excited to take Muggle Studies. I've heard interesting things about how you lot manage without magic. I know wizards that can't even tie their shoes without magic anymore." he said chuckling at the idea.

Vincent seems to take this answer into consideration and just nods at her. "Perhaps...It'd be nice to see even the hat break one of Slytherins own rules like my father says Slytherins are prone to do." he said leaving the conversation alone for now.

At this point, he piles his plate high with good food and even offers Anora a couple of dishes he recommends trying to show he wasn't mad at her or anything.

Vincent was polite, well at least to the majority of the students. It could be taken as not polite to not answer her as he gives her the look he is. He looks up and away from her as Dumbledore begin speaking.

Thankfully the speech is rather short and as he says Dig in, he whips back around to hiss at Anora "I thought you say you were a muggle! Maybe one of your parents are just squibs but there's no way the Hat would put a muggle in Slytherin!" he said keeping his voice low. There wasn't really malice in his voice more accusation and confusion.

Vincent adjusted his hair as the hat was pulled off and make his way towards the table. He tried to keep a jovial look on his face, shaking hands, joining in on the revelry but all the while locking eyes on the Anora.

He eventually found himself a seat with the others of the train ride, sitting across from Anora and Dragoslav. He kept his mouth shut and just stared.

Vincent almost absentmindedly missed his name being called as he combed though his hair idly trying to think. He paused and shook his head looking up at the hat and nodded before striding forwards and looking down at it and the stool.

He turned about, adjusted his robes and sat down attempting to keep his manners about. He took a deep breath as the hat is put on his head.

Vincent listened idly. His stomach was growling and he was listening for his name. But when Anora's name was called, he looked up for a brief moment waiting to see if he'd won the bet.

It was when the hat shouted Slytherin that he lost all decorum and went slack jawed staring. His mind began rolling through how this could possibly happen and his emotions kept filtering from anger to curiosity to confusion and back again. He just shook his head, surely this girl must've lied, or perhaps even her parents had lied about a family member being magically inclined.

Vincent remained quiet during most of the trip and stayed such for McGonagall but when it came to Houses talk, he simply shook his head. "Any House is a good house to be in. Just be glad you landed yourself in Hogwarts. But yes, the competition is purely bragging rights for the students and the teachers as well." he said remember how his mother described it.

Vincent watched in silence as the landscape picture that was Hogwarts comes to life for him like so many tonight. The pictures have never done it justice in the books and the awe inspiring moment keeps him in silence for most of the ride.

It was hard to finally take his eyes on the castle to see anything else about his home for the year but eventually he took in all the sights one would know from people recounting their days at the majestic school. He knew full well all the things his mother had warned him not to do, while his dad mostly recounted the tales of all the trouble he got in.

Vincent jerked slightly to try and see as well. He shook his head and rolled his eyes. "Well played, just try to behave when the boat actually starts moving. I'd hate for all the movement to send one of us into the lake on such a cold night." he said in all serious.

Alright...if I am not mistaken then, that is all our players yes? Everyone now has a House?

Vincent sighed in relief as the train came to a halt. He was exhausted from being on a train so long. Honestly, he wished they would just use floo powder but he supposed it was a good time to bond with classmates and play with magic a bit unsupervised.

He stood up and hoisted Beast up onto his shoulders and made his way outside. He was happy to hear that he'd not need to handle his trunk himself but looked surprised he'd have to leave his cat behind.

Someone was gonna get some scratches he was sure but he followed the rules and put his cat on his trunk. It was easy enough for him to find with it having both Ravenclaw"s and Slytherin's styling and crests emblazoned on them. He was proud of his family's heritage and wouldn't change the trunk regardless of his house.

He looked around and found himself an empty boat and clambored in. He wasn't worried who joined him, but the big guy he didn't know and he hadn't heard of anyone so large as a professor.

Vincent relaxes during this time. If the girls ask him to leave, he of course steps out and waits outside guarding the door so to speak till they knock and let him back in.

Hogwarts Apparel

The robes do close for when it's cold but otherwise there are pants and a "jumper" under them.

Honestly, it looks to khaki pants, a button up shirt, either a sweater vest (for winter) or a lighter vest for the warmer months, a tie in your house colors, a crest emblem sewn onto your robes, and that's it.

I don't know the book specifics though. (I just woke up, so my researching skills ain't on point yet.)

Vincent set his wand on his lap for now and grabbed the cat and dragged it over into his lap. The earlier pounce by the other had reminded him that Beast was taking up someone else's spot.

"So long as the outcome is interesting or useful, I never mind reading. I look forwards to pretty much all the classes, though I'll likely end up asleep in Magical History. I'm curious about Muggle studies though. The world of squibs and muggles is a curious one. Honestly, getting along without magic must be feat." he said at length.

He turned his head to Greg "Ah, Potions are quite a delight, some of them even smell positively wonderful and there is something to be said about the the work behind it. It truly keeps ones mind active more so than spells. I look forward to Professor Snape's lessons, I had been writing him the last year or so to appease my curiosity and theory on some of the simpler potions. He's a friend of my fathers, I'm hoping all the correspondence and interest will give me a good leg up in his classes." he said in between bites of a pasty.

I do agree that abuse is too much and so would Vincent if the question ever came up.

You mean those well behaved, happy house elves...

Vincent smiles politely at her curiosity and question. But he's soon surprised at the Muggle's aptitude at magic. It's not often to see someone who can actually perform magic purely from research without help.

"You'll do fine, I think in Hogwarts. I'm betting a chocolate frog that you will end up in Ravenclaw. Your curiosity is wonderful and coveted by that particular House." he said as he smelled his wand.

He held it out to the others "It is Laurel, fragrant and sweet smelling to me. It's a very calming smell, pleasant and good for helping me think when I'm practising. I've done a bit of studying myself. But, I'm more fond of transfiguration. Requires a bit more control and research I feel than Charms but all magic is equally useful in the right hands and minds." he said grinning earnestly.

He shook his head at the sweets "Personally I'm not fond of them, I prefer something heartier and savory over sweet. Sugar only does so much for the body." he said politely "It probably doesn't help that I've also had abhorrent luck when it comes to those things." he said sneering at the jelly beans themselves.

Sorry I was out the loop so long, today was...absolutely horrid for what I wanted out of it.

I actually ended up with a Panic attack after an altercation at the Farmer's market. Without going into too many details, someone couldn't take being told no about petting my service dog in public and ambushed us a few times while we were there.

I don't like my anger, I hate it but it's the first time I've literally cussed out someone in public since i was like 16.

But unfortunately the incident followed me the rest of the day and every time I got in the car to try and do my errands I started another subtle panic attack till I got back in the house and distracted myself for a few hours.

Surprisingly when the trolley comes around, Vincent actually doesn't get any candy. He secures himself a couple of pasties, one to give to Anora in "trade" for giving him a cookie earlier.

He tries to catch up as he was daydreaming a bit before while eating the cookie. Snacks like those were few and far between, he rarely allowed himself them to keep his weight under control.

Vincent shrugs at Cairan "She tells me mostly the silly ones. Things have calmed down a lot in the last year, so she's opened up more on what she does."

He sighed slightly when it turned towards Quidditch, it was quite common for most wizards to be overly enthusiastic about the sport but he had no real aspirations towards it. He had tried a few times to fly and eventually got a hang of it enough for the purposes of travel...maybe, but to even think about something like Quidditch would be a dream for him.

He looked at the wand enthusiasts and smiled before pulling out his own. "She's a bit finicky over who can use her, me mum can get some results out of her but last time me dad tried, he got a wicked burn on the hand." he said smiling proudly at the wand.

I'm gonna get some sun and go to a farmers market. I'm hoping by the time I get back from it and shopping some that I"ll be good.

Apologies, I haven't updated yet. There has been a bit of frustrations and anger in the past few days and it makes it hard to think in a childlike state of wonder.

Vincent took the cookie and listened curiously for now. He wasn't very well versed in muggle nonsense so when things that made no sense came up, he mostly just listed with mild curiosity till things shifted to something he understood.

"Me mum's a witch in the Ministry's Accidental Magic Reversal Squad. It's a bit fascinating some of the stuff she tells me about but I'm not sure what my dad does. I know his side of the family used to be wealthy and well respected but that's really all I know." he offered as conversation went into parents.

Lol, I just feel bad cause my character should know it to too back at yah. I just went with Gaelic cause I least I can google translate that.

Vicent smiled politely "Nay, tha mi à Dùn Èideann. Chan eil mo mhàthair mar dhùthchas Albannach ach bha mi math." he said in return.

Vincent turned to the others "Everyone feeling excited, like this one?" he asked, giving a nod to H.B. "I'm not sure where I'll land, my dad was a Slytherin but my mum was a Ravenclaw. They say you typically end up in the same as your family but then...I'm not really like either of my parents I think."

Yikes, I'll be the first to admit I have no knowledge of Scottish slang or is that Gaelic? >.<

Vincent is staying with his cat. Also, I know what you mean. I'm trying to stay on a slower pace to help let others chime in ^_^

Vincent seemed to finally be alright with his choice and nodded. "It's Vincent, Vincent Wallace." he offered, his Scottish heritage showing despite the black hair.

He raised a brow at the fact that they hadn't had their things stowed before the train had started moving. He shook his head, not everyone was punctual and not everyone was used to this world. "I showed up early and had my parents help me stow my luggage. Since it will be brought up later by someone else, I didn't see the need to have it near me. Especially since I went ahead and changed clothes when we got on the other side of platform."

He found himself a seat, which was when Beast jumped from his shoulders and down onto an empty seat on the other side. He shook his head, he was certain he'd end up with him in his lap at some point but for now, it was nice to get the almost two stones cat off his shoulders. He rubbed them a bit as he looked at everyone guessing their heritage by how they acted.

"How was your summer? I assume some of you were surprised over it with their letters? How have you been transitioning?" he asked as he leaned forwards and propped his chin on his palms in a studying manner, using his elbows to hold himself up.

A quiet unsure lad made his way through the train. He wasn't too remarkable compared to others his age. He was shorter at least by a few inches to most, though he was fairly muscular. His long black hair, straight but pulled back in a pony tail was clean and well kept, though there were a few odd hairs that seemed to always fall out of his pony tail to trail into his face.

He was already wearing his robes, but mismatched socks could be seen poking out at times when the hem of the robes hiked up too much. It seemed he had a small growth spurt after having gotten all his things. Thankfully, his parents had already helped him stow away his luggage when they arrived early to the train. A large black cat named Beast rode the boy's shoulders, lazily cleaning one of it's enormous paws.

He had an aura about him that made him seem personable and friendly despite a bit of a case of resting a!$#!~~# face. He looked about from cabin to cabin, looking for an empty spot. He'd passed a few cabins already with empty spaces but something about them didn't meet his criteria. He yawned softly, he hadn't slept well with the excitement and dread of the new world he was about to enter.

He poked his head in on a fairly full cabin. He paused looking over the cabin a bit before speaking or responding to anyone who answered.
