As it looks like we are leaning low tier, I'll bring Vamasu, my Tengu Swashbuckler 3.

Just realised that you can't strike after a finisher! (Sorry first run with a swashbuckler) So instead of the second attack Vamasu will stride to flank with Jeeves

(How did Vamasu go last turn? I assume he missed with the 15? Even on a miss half his confident finisher damage should have taken effect though)

DC 15 basic reflex: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17

Vamasu dodges the worst of the clubs but some still connect. He then replies with a double strike with his rapier before taunting "Is the bird a bit tougher than you expected? Maybe it is time to chicken out?

Vamasu ducks and weaves out of the way of the clubs, then responds by lunging with his rapier at the mob, quipping "What's wrong? Swinging at shadows? You'll have to be faster than that!" and then will finish up with returning his rapier to a defensive position once again,

he'll then unsheathe his rapier, turn to his fellow pathfinders and say "Gotta split up!" before he moves to the south.

Vamasu will spend some time cataloguing the new acquisitions - cataloguing is sure to be safe right?

Vamasu will shake his head at the return of the gang "Ah, I'd heard the rumor of someone transporting some sun orchid elixir through town too. But really its not orchid season at the moment and the elixer has such a short shelf life that no one could have any at the moment. We've just got a bundle of dusty books, so unless you are interested in the finer points of Avistani history we've nothing of any value to you." and finish by showing his empty hands to them.

"Aha! A shortcut! Now we'll catch up with him" Vamasu will cry in triumph.

But then rounding the corner and seeing the kids at the exit he'll let out an annoyed squawk, call out "Go the Vultures" and tumble through the pack

Seeing the chaos ahead, Vamasu will melt into the crowd and slip forward in pursuit of the crazed cart driver!

Vamasu will stride from behind the stage and move up near to Jeeves and Enrax. He will then call out to the thug in yellow "You look very keen to take our books, but you don't seem the scholarly type. Are you in the right place?" and then will draw his rapier

Bon Mot: Diplomacy, Bravado vs Yellow Will DC: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 6 + 1 = 21 (On success, Vamasu gains panache plus yellow gains the normal -2 penalty to Perception and Will saves for 1 minute)

"Oooh you upset the local fans, did you think they'd forgotten when you came back here? Sometimes a port's just too dangerous to return to! Anyway, I hear the vultures are the ones in red and black, so we know who to avoid."

Then turning back to the group he asks "Ehle, do you know when the game starts? We could sneak out while they are busy"

”Do you mind if we ask what the spot of bother is? Is it likely to affect our trip back to the ship? Vamasu will ask Zarta

Vamasu finds one of the local dockhands, if a tengu then even better, and ask "I have heard great things about Merab’s Flowing Market. Could you direct me there please?

Diplomacy to Gather Info DC 13: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

and apparently finds someone both knowledgeable and friendly! Vamasu quickly joins the chase of the urchin though, aided by having his own bearings.

Once at the market, Vamasu will find a drink seller with some shade and get a cold juice to cool off. While there he will ask around for the best book stalls and see if that narrows down the options for where Zarta might be.

A grey feathered Tengu swings out from the ship's rigging on a rope and lands gracefully on the dockside next to the gathering group, his sandals slapping as they hit the ground. He brushes off his leather armor, stills the rapier by his side and then bows to Percival and Ehle "I'm not sure we met on the voyage over - I can never avoid helping out when on a sea passage! I am Vamasu. And you have the look of fellow pathfinders!" and glances at the shield on the human's back.

Then to Ehle he says "The Flowing Market? Do you know the place? This is my first time in this rather sandy city and I have not heard of it before."

Vamasu is ok to take limited friendly fire

"Hmm, how about 'The Travellers'?" Vamasu will offer to the group

Seeing as the group is well in the lead, Vamasu will relax, throw out a line and enjoy the fishing. To his shock he does manage to land a fish!

Vamasu just shrugs "I really don't think malice or harm was meant, just some excess enthusiasm, but this magic is not one I am familiar with"

Vamasu nods in satisfaction, pulls out a cloth, cleans the crab ichor from his katana and carefully sheathes the sword. He then looks over to the judge "Ah well, sometimes magic behaves strangely or attracts the wrong sort of attention. But fortunately we were able to resolve the situation without too much concern. Hopefully a lesson has been learnt."

Vamasu will swap his bow for his katana, grasp it with both hands and swing with gusto at the blue crab in front of him.

"Hey Demed that's some impressive magic there but yeah Alleron's right, something looks a bit weird." Vamasu will say while eying the basket.

Vamasu will once again take a moment of stillness to centre himself and then carefully enters the water again. At first the fish stay well clear of the tengu but with a bit of adjustment of position and then a patient stillness he finds himself surrounded by fish and scoops up a handful.

Then having gained some help for Deka, Vamasu will return to the problem of fishing... Having failed the way of stealth he centres himself for a second and then carefully surveys for the right place to drop a baited hook

but apparently the fish are still steering well clear of the tengu.

"Linesnapper is a legend for a reason I guess Masuuk. Nice try though" Vamasu says with an admiring look at the escaping shark

Vamasu will start out with a test of his stealth and reflexes, easing a hand into the water and holding it still until a fish swims by and he can seize it! However he topples over into the water after a short time and fails to catch anything.

"You're welcome Deka." Vamasu will reply and then to Demed he will respond "Of course not, when we win it will because of the skill of my companions! Here's to a great contest!"

Vamasu will then follow the twins down to the Lower Harbor, and line up with the group.

When the start is called, Vamasu will start weaving and dodging through the crowd trying to make it through to the shore line, but listening out for any instructions from the group on which spot to grab. He makes slow progress though, often struggling to keep balance in the crush

Looking with one eye and then the other at Demed, Vamasu will agree "Drinks, yes that's a good idea, come on." and will go with the twins to the buko juice vendor and order a round of drinks.

(no great skills to contribute to influence though)

As he finishes the tea, Vamasu will say to Zisiro "That is indeed a pleasure of travelling. The tea here has been lovely, although less formal than such a gathering would be in my homeland. My thanks for your company everyone."

Then overhearing the booming voices from outside he will say "Ah, and speaking of experiencing other customs - it sounds like there might be a challenge on offer over at the inn across the road. Anyone interested?" and he will fix Masuuk in his gaze for a second before standing and walking across to the inn and its bulletin board.

After reading the notice, Vamasu will turn to the siblings and bow "Greetings, I am called Vamasu. I couldn't help but to overhear your discussion" and he glances at the tea house over the road."Is this fishing contest open to outsiders?"

"A tea house, how quaint. I wonder if they do things properly?" mutters a grey feathered Tengu dressed in leather armour who ducks his head to enter the room. He looks around the crowded room and spying a free seat joins the group.

He bows to those at the table, the practiced move keeping the twin swords at his side still and silent. "I am Vamasu, may I join you? I am ... intrigued as to how you follow the customs of my far away homeland."

"Yes, let's make good our escape! I've had enough of this cave to last a year." Vamasu will agree and then follows Siyokoy out of the cave.

"You are right, Uzgrin, that wasn't there before" Vamasu will say holding up his hand to caution the others to stop

"But what is it? It seems spectral so I'm not sure if I can attack it or just sweep it out of the way. Let's keep an eye on it" and Vamasu will delay to see what it does.

"No need to apologize about the noise. When I heard that earsplitting noise just now, I instanttly realized that that was the sound that I had heard before. At the time, I had thought it the sound of some fearsome monster. I rushed out of the cave, not even realizing that I must have dropped my back pack. Unfortunately, in my unnerved state, I managed to get lost. I found the cave with the underground pool and it was there that I was set upon by one of those giant spiders."

"I see - I was wondering how the backpack came to rest under the shrieker."

"While we are close to that other exit, let's get back to where we know" and Vamasu will start back to exit #1.

Glancing over the cavern (area 4), Vamasu will reply to Siyokoy "Yes a good plan - no need to disturb this mushroom. I've heard plenty of those for one day."

and then will look around to Uzgrin with head tilted to one side "Is that all?"

Vamasu will move next to area 1, keeping a careful eye out for more of the shriekers which seem to be prevalent here.

DC 15 Nature: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

"Hmm, looks like those spiders had a feast of rats here. Hopefully we won't see any more of the spiders down here."

After investigating area 1, Vamasu will move on to area 3, "Aha there's the backpack, looks like we will need to deal with this shrieker." and, after a short pause for anyone who wants to to back away, Vamasu will carefully approach

but he misses the air sac and the shrieker screeches regardless!

DC 16 basic Fortitude save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 against the screech, so Vamasu takes 1 hp sonic damage but is not deafened.

As the mushroom emits its cry, Vamasu will snatch up the backpack and scurry quickly away, his crest flattened against his head. He will hand it back to Uzgrin saying "Your backpack ma'am." and glancing back to the shrieker with a grimace "Sorry about the noise."

Looking around at the group and Uzgrin he will ask "Is there anything else we need to do here or should we get back to the surface? Oh, are there any passages you haven't explored Uzgrin?"

After scanning around from the entrance for the backpack, Vamasu will pronounce "There doesn't seem much reason to risk the shrieker this time. We should ignore it." and then move on towards location 1.

”Yes we can help out. Let’s start with the cave we bypassed on the way in.”

so a vote for starting at 2, and then on to 1,3, and 4.

Vamasu will turn back to the group, spy the mess and say "We are not going to be anyone's dinner tonight" and will hustle over to the last spider ◆ stride ◆ stride and ◆ strike, bringing his katana down across the spider trying to slash it away from the wall

Never having heard of this place, Vamasu will listen with interest.

Vamasu watches Siyookoy's work "That is a very useful trick Siyokoy" looking quite impressed.

Turning to the woman he will say "I'm Vamasu. We got your note up in the cave - it is a good thing you left it there, given the dangers here. But I am impressed at how you killed the spider" and he will point to the dagger embedded in the spider.

Vamasu will reply "I hope its dead, but that dagger looks like it has done a good job."

and then "Oh I see it now." as he spots the webbed form. He will cautiously approach and once there will start unwrapping the victim. "Oh its a woman and she is badly injured. I'll see what I can do, unless someone else has a better option." and will start pulling out his healer's tools and tending to the half-orc.
