Sorry. But I was stuck in a busy stretch for a bit. Posting for Kravo now... I think we should let the DM roll initiative or we all make initiative rolls well in advance. There is no point holding everyone up for one person's initiative roll. In another PbP we provide the DM with a series of Perception rolls in advance before each "segment" of the adventure. We also make Initiave rolls at the end of combat, which are then applied at the beginning of the next combat. Just an idea....

I have pet peeves too, so I understand to a certain degree. But spoilers? Really? You dislike them that much? I find they help navigate through characters faster on smartphones or small screens. Less scrolling. And sometimes people like to put lots of detail into their characters....it just starts cluttering the place. Besides. You spend a measly half second to open all the spoilers and - Presto! - a full character sheet. Mr. Fungus, You should start a flame war about this on another discussion thread. It'll be fun! No holds barred! :P
DM-Salsa wrote: okay. I'm tying to get some replacement players, If you know of anyone that can post regularly and would be interested, point them to the recruitment thread. Also can you guys look over Annastriana and see if she'd be a good fit. Annastriana looks like a good fit to me. Elf Wizard...always a solid choice. I like her story too.
What an odd pair to be competing for Ameiko's attention! I'm sure it will be interesting. We might get some entertainment out of the rivalry. I am going over Kravo's Gear...I always miss something at first. I have a question about languages. Is Varisian the lingua franca of the Sandpoint area? Is it common, or is the Common more like Chelaxian?
5-10% Loot plan sounds good to me. I little RP'ing if characters disagree on loot is perfectly fine, as long as we don't get carried away and let things bog down. Who will do the accounting? :-)The Huttil clansmen are notorious for their stinginess. Besides, Heligar was a little low in petty cash and wasn't about to turn down Derig's cash offering. I am ready to go explore now.
Offering up a Savage Skald Fighter Kravo Blshkh - Half-Orc
Spoiler:
Background concept etc...]
A larger than life mountain of half-orc flesh with a great protruding, hairy gut . Big, loud and infectiously exuberant. He driven by a passion for attaining all of life's earthly delights - with minumum effort. If he was half as ferocious as his Averakan compatriots he'd be the terror of the high seas....but indolence dogs him and he chaffes at the brutish life of the warrior. His voice is tremendous. He has a booming baritone which will empty the bowels of the enemy. The Skalds recognized his talent early and trained him in the meadhalls of Flintyreach and the gatherings of Orcmoot. Averaka is a nation of warriors and reavers...and he was expected to join in their campaigns. He certainly faced his share of bloody battles while a-viking. His mighty falchion cut its way along the bloody coast from Ironbound Isles down to Nidal. He called the beat as they pillaged the shores of Avistan. But the life by longboat is too coarse for Kravo - the food too rotten. Unwilling women do not pleasure him as they pleasured his comrades. He much prefers the rich fare and willing whores at port. He deserted his shipmates at Riddleport last season, and knowing how they like to treat deserters he decided to head out down the coast to seek his fortune. He travelled by caravan south - making a good show of it with his lusty Linnorm sagas and wild dances. He has recently settled in Sandpoint for some R&R. He finds the women here to his liking, though not quite willing enough for his taste. Perhaps they overestimate their price due to the exclusivity of the small marketplace. That Tian innkeeper looks like she could use some Kravo magic...but she drives a hard bargain. And Kravo is running out of funds fast. crunch to follow

#@#!! that's right. I totally missed the part about strength increments adding 100 gp each to the cost of the bow. Now I have to go over it all again. Surely I can afford a regular longbow, no? I'll see. Thanks for checking my work. I'm used to starting campaigns with much less cash to spend. I'll get it right soon... Aha! I marked off the bow as 1gp instead of 100. I thought she seemed to have too much cash... fixing....

Well, I obviously have some work to do getting all the details straight. Thanks for pointing some of it out. Max starting gold is 300? Cool. No problem. That's still a pile of cash for a 1st level character. The Masterwork Greatsword will be a really nice regular Greatsword instead.
I made up some places for this character submission. They can be switched out for any place in the campaign setting where there are mountains and a town with a slave market. Heligar - Ranger. Hillwoman.:
The slave markets of Khardoun are renowned for their selection of quality stock. A suitable thrall may be purchased there for every taste or need. Financing is available as well, and - for a fee - the guild will provide additional insurance in the way of professional hunting services. Slaves seldom escape their masters, but when they do the become prey to bounty hunters . The Khardoun hunters are the best in the business at both acquiring new chattel and in recovering wayward goods. The human trafficking racket is big, lucrative and competitive. There is increasing demand for new slaves as the landholdings of the richest families grow and consolidate. As demand increases, the slavers must also take care not to capture the subjects of their own clients, so they are always looking for new sources of slaves. The latest hot commodity are the Huttil hillmen. Tough as nails, these are a clan of transhumant herders, who drive the mountain flocks through their seasonal migrations from alpine pastures down the rugged scarps and into the deep valleys below. The Huttil recently fell into a bitter feud against a rival Gol clan. A viscious campaign of intrigue and murder resulted in the near destruction of the Huttil. Survivors were forced to flee with their flocks to remote pastures and survive at the edges of the mountain wilderness. But the Huttil remain tough and difficult to eradicate. Living in fear of Huttil vengeance the Gol have turned to the Khardoun hunters for further assitance. With financial backing from the Gol, the Khardoun have begun to hunt the highlands for Huttil slaves. They prefer to attack when their prey are vulnerable, such as ambushing them when they are moving their households up or down the valley. The usual method is to attack by surprise or with cruel magic. Survivors are first herded together and then beaten or tortured into submission - and to extract information. Men are killed as soon as they have provided the desired information. Women are typically raped before being killed. The children are held captive and transported down the valley and then loaded onto riverboats or caravans for service in distant lands. Heligar is a Huttil woman, whose husband was killed two springs ago while defending the herd in a Gol cattle raid. She and her son Haldin were left alone in the High Country. They retreated to a small cabin under the Glooming Fells and survived the winter with a remainder of the herd and a few sacks of grain. With the arrival of spring they heard a lone horn echoing on the Fells. Old Baertchi from over the Yoke was summoning them to join him on the journey down to the Valley to buy livestock. Haldin gathered the last of his father's silver and set off to join Baertchi boys while Heligar stayed behind with the animals. She watched as her son hiked down to the appointed rendezvous by the Silver Pool far below- she saw little specks appearing from a cleft in the rock approaching her son. She saw him fleeing - it was a trap! She watched as the boy was siezed, flogged and taken away into the valley. It was the last time she saw him. Heligar donned her leather armour and her slingstaff. She strapped on her father's greatsword and a few provisions and marched down the scarp with her herd. Selling the animals in the Valley for coin, her life as an adventurer had begun. Over the next year she has searched fruitlessly for her son. She fought off boozy ruffians in smokey taverns, sand worms, insects, bandits, thieves and scoundrels - escaping caputure once or twice herself. She journeyed to Khardoun, and spent the rest of her earnings buying information. It has become clear that her son was taken by slavers transported to a distant unknown land...and only the foolhardy would dare confront the slavers in their own town. Lonely and bitter, Heligar now roams the dry country seeking her fortune, while searching fruitlessly for Haldin and plotting vengeance. She recently joined Bendon's caravan as a drover/wrangler following rumours of slave shipments to the East. I intend to portray Heligar as a tall and exotic woman from a lost mountain clan. She will be athletic and tough, beautiful and intimidating.

Shouldn't be hard to fix that. Yes. Luring Cavalier it is...I'll fix the profile soon....
I think I can squeeze in a second adventure. I'm having so much fun with the other one. Well I wanted a character who will do well in a seedy town. How about a Half-Orc Chelish Diva? A corpulent (I mean big time!), larger than life operatic singer with lusty appetites....including an appetite for adventure! idea for a Half-Orc Bard: st 17 dx 8 cn14 it14 ws 08 ch 15 Arcane Strike, Famous Prima Donna She comes from a half-orc community in far-off Averaka among the Ironbound Islands in the North. She was born from a long line of noted Skalds and has a tremedous (!) voice. She can sure belt out a drinking tune. But she always had more adventurous and ambitious goals. She travelled the high seas to Westcrown. She wanted to make it as a starlet there, but her overly bold style caused a scandal which almost ruined her career. She decided instead to take to the high seas again and boarded a ship for Sargava. She has already made a name for herself among the sailors and dockworkers... Big, heavy and powerful half-orc singer! Chelish Diva variant. If you are not confortable with that variant Lucendar, I could take Buccaneer - or just make her a normal bard.
So begins the tale of the Wood Elementalist Wakhugin - an unusual young and forlorn elf with a tragic childhood. Several decades ago a mysterious elfish slave fetched a high price in the Westcrown markets. She was warrior princess of the Ekujae tribe of the Mwangi Expanse....firece and proud....and she bore a child in her womb. A wealthy Chlexian family outbid a host of other houses to acquire her and then took her home to adorn their estate in Egorian. At first she was the most agreeable slave, and for a while she served the house well. She was raising a young boy from infancy, whom she named Wakhugin. She sang to him in her native tongue and immersed him in the sagas and folkways of her home country. But the time he spent with his mother was tragically short. Her pride was strong, and eventuallly she refused to delight her masters anymore - so that one day she disappeared from her boy's life - nobody spoke of it - she was just gone from his life. The elvish boy was young and afraid, alone...he sought protection from his only friend - the house wizard Bernadotto. The Wizard used whatever power and influence he possessed to protect the boy from cruelty for a while. Up until Wakhugin reached adolescence he lived in and out of Bernadotto's library and also learned some spellcraft. He was especially interested in the wizard's fine collection of travel literature from Chelaxian territories to the south. But the wizard was no fool - and knowing that Wakhugin's future in Egorian was likely to end evilly - he took a great risk and arranged for the lad to be smuggled through the Bellflower Network into Andoran. Through long and fateful journeying Wakhigin ended up as an unlikely fugitive in the Arthfell forest and became the travelling companion of a reclusive half-elven druidess named Faldhringal. He lived with her as a companion and lover for several years - they travelled widely through green lands. Wakhugin found his calling in woodcraft - adapting his inquisitive mind to unlock the arcane mysteries of the forest. Eventually the day came when the couple decided to part. She wished to stay and defend the Darkwood groves of Darkmoon Vale. He decided it was time to live his dream and journey South to the jungles of Mwangi and Sargava. Through the sale of some exotic Darkmoon components and potions - he earned enough coin for passage south and boarded the Jenivere out of Korvosa.
Lucendar wrote: I'll be honest, initially it did look shady, especially since I had already posted no retconning and no need for SR rolls for previous spells, which included Bless. Therefore, I rolled for you and happened to crit as well, so no harm no foul. Sigh of relief for Loco. Sometimes I wish we had a more transparent rolling system...where a statement of the roll's purpose is permanently associated with the roll result...to avoid shady rolling, confusion and retconning etc... ...but we don't...and that's why we have DM's. Thanks.
I just realized that Tauni's Bless will only work on Loco if she makes a successful d20 + caster level check vs. his SR of 6. Previously she had cast a cure spell on him...he would have spent a standard action to lower his defenses for that. I think I applied the Bless bonus on previous rolls....sorry about that...I forgot about his magic resistance.
