Because of the situation taking care of my mom, I've decided to step away from some of the games I'm in. I believe it would be easier to step away from this game, and focus on ones I'm more comfortable with the pace and style. GM Wolf, thank you for running the game and giving me a chance to play. Round 7 to 10

Oh yes, I had thought it was dealt with but I was wrong...
Ujio cuts down the infected before him in Round 7, seperating its head from the rest of its body. He then rushes over and slams into the door shutting it before anything gets in... Round 9 & 10, what do you do?

So I posted round eight and nine, I assumed the zombies got in and Ujio attacked them. Let me know how many got in and if he killed any with his attacks in round eight and nine. Then I will let you know my actions for round ten.

Sorry, last post was round 6 waiting to see if the undead in the room were resolved.

Rounds 7,8, and 9

Trying to finish off the undead in the room, Ujio starts slashing at the last indead in the room then turns and begins slashing at the undead entering the room.

6th round
Looking over his shoulder to see what Kenzo is doing, Elek notices the professor at the door. Asking as he moves around the last undead, "Professor, how many sick were in the hallway?" Realizing the distraction had caused him to miss the undead, he hoped the baseball player could take it out with his bat.

Relieved to see the second undead drop, Ujio slides his feet as he shifts to attack the final undead. Still concerned about the hallway he asks, "Professor please check the door." As he speaks he lifts the Katana and aims at the undead's neck.

4th round
Cursing under his breath as the undead scratches him, Ujio looks towards the big white man. As he resets his feet, he asks, "Professor, did you hear a noise in the Hall? Would you look?" He then turns his attention to the undead, chopping a the nearest undead.

How many zombies are still standing? Are they or DR A. going to take Round 2 actions? I'm assuming Nikola's actions stays the same for round three, if not please subtract the '+2'

Round 3 action
His second attack dropping the middle undead, Ujio ducks as Kenzo swings his bat a little too close for comfort. Stepping forwards so he isn't right between the two undead (and putting himself a little distance between the ball players bat and the professors axe) he resets his feet, and thrusts the katana at the zombie on his right. Nervous about hitting his friends, he strikes nothing but air.

So round 1 Nikola and Ujio acted before the undead, Kenzo who also had initiative before the undead has not act yet. The undead acted for round 1, Doctor Adrian has yet to act in round 1. Nikola and now Ujio are acting in round 2. Kenzo has not acted in round 1 or round 2

Round 2 action
Feeling the sword bite deep, Ujio is careful not to twist the sword, making sure he doesn't lodge it in bone as he draws it from the moving corpse. Nodding his head in agreement with Nikola's instructions, he grunts "Hai". Ducking, he is able to dodge the grasping claws, shuffling his feet he Steps back. Shifting the Katana to a 'low guard' he advances chopping upwards at the wounded undead's torso.

At Nikola's warning, Ujio turns from the door towards the three infected. "thanks for the warning Nikola!" Shifting the katana into a two handed grip, he moves into the room. slashing at the nearest infected, wanting to stop them before they could bite any of his companions.

The original wish was a bump to his natural dexterity, but I wasn't thinking magical items. Can he do a + 1 to his actual dexterity? That would be fine.

Edit: I totally missed the 'christmas wish' part... Well mechanically, a little higher dex would be nice. Storywise he's wish his sisters were safe.

The main belt of the armor gains its magcial qualities back, this can be showy or not, your choice. You gain a +4 Belt of the Bear, which increases your Con by +4.

So I'm a little confused, is the magical constitution belt included with the bump on dexterity, or instead of it? If we're filling 'magical slots' honestly I'd rather have a belt of giant strength, I wasn't thinking about 'wishing' for a magical item. If a bump to natural dex isn't an option, could he do something else, like a feat?

Moving toward the Detention room door, Ujio notices the one door is ajar. Drawing the sword, he nods towards their destination. "Hopefully the detention room will have some method we can use to open the door above."

If he arrives at the detention door without interruption he will attempt to push it open

Sorry I feel like i'm screwing this up. I'm trying to figure out how to get the door on the third floor open. The question was meant to be about the door on the third floor not the fourth floor.

My posting may be slow for a couple of days, I still intend to check the boards a couple of times a day, but I'm not living at the computer. Don't wait for me to make the decisions and if we get in combat bot me if needed.

Both my wife and mom have come down with covid. My mom (86) was almost unresponsive so we called the squad, she's at the hospital. I'll end up being there a bit and taking care of my wife, thus not at the computer as much as usual and I hate posting on my phone.

Tapping your key card to the panel shows a yellow light and a simple message appears on the panel, "Please report to sub level 4 detention room."

Hearing the doors unlock Ujio asks the AI, "What's the fastest way to the detention room and are you sure we'll be able to gain access to the room on the third floor?"

What's the configuration of the doors on the fourth floor?

Stepping off the elevator, Ujio pauses, surprised by the idea pf a waiting room four levels below a school building he'd been cleaning for hte last year. Moving into the room, he checks the receptionists desk for a button or some such thing, he could press to open an door. As he searched he asked, "AI is there anything else on this floor?"

Any other doors?

Yes, merry Christmas, I hope everyone get's to spend the holiday with someone they love...

I guess since I said 'sweet potatoes' at thanksgiving I'm going with + 2 bonus skill points.

Hmmmm, favorite food for the holiday? When I was a kid we moved a lot and weren't near family most of the time. So, we had no traditions other than a tree and presents. We wouldn't even open them on christmas every year. Sometimes christmas eve, sometimes when we got back from visiting distant family.

Conversely my wife grew up in the same little town with all her dad's relatives nearby. They would meet at grandma's house and she would fix 'lunch.' Of course, it was served at two or three in the afternoon, but no one cared, they had been snacking or drinking all morning anyway.

She always fixed a smoked ham, green beans cooked in the ham broth, twice cooked shredded cheesy potatoes and store-bought tear apart rolls. Everyone else would bring something to go along, but you knew the ham, green beans, potatoes and rolls would be there.

My first christmas with them was in '81 when we were dating. Grandma's been gone twenty years, everyone's gone their own way. But my daughters still insist on doing the same smoked ham and cheesy potatoes. My wife got the recipe and still fixes them. To this day, even with my high blood sugar I make sure I leave room for the cheesy potatoes. So, I guess the potatoes are my favorite christmas holiday food.

Frowning that some of the sick would be armored, Ujio presses the button for the fourth floor. "Maybe we won't have to go down that far."

Turning towards Kenzo Elek nods, "Let's hope they were not preparing for a riot when they got sick."

Looking from the elevator they'd come down, towards the hallway where the AI had indicated the other elevator was, Ujio nods back that way, "Let's go check the other elevator and proceed to the fourth level."

As he spoke, he headed back down the hall.

ahh. I didn't realize that. Nikola, Kenzo, any opinions?

As he opens the top of the elevator box revealing the stairs and ladders, he asks the AI, "Can we gain access to the third floor AI storage location in the level four detention room, or do we need to go to the lower subfloors to do so?"

"No, the only entrance to the three star room is through that door on this level."

Opening the top of the elevator box, of the elevator you have already used you only find ladders and stairs up.

Sorry I didn't sound very clear. Is there something available, a pass or whatever, in the fourth floor detention room that will give us access to the three star doorway on the third floor?

Also, I'm assuming there is only one elevator, is that the case?

Taking Nikola's question literally Ujio answers her as he moves back towards the elevator shaft. "We are on the third floor, the detention room is on the fourth floor."

As he opens the top of the elevator box revealing the stairs and ladders, he asks the AI, "Can we gain access to the third floor AI storage location in the level four detention room, or do we need to go to the lower subfloors to do so?"

Hoping the AI's observation about 'not having clearance' was not a premonition, Ujio curses when the yellow light appears. "Blast! Where are the steps to the lower level?"

As the elevator does open Ujio peers down the long hallway. Drawing the librarian's blade, he moves down the hallway, hearing the single door on the right was their goal, he nods towards it. Asking the AI, "Can you bring up an image from inside for Nikola to see?" Meanwhile he investigates the door, looking for panel, keypad or slot for the ID.

Congrats GM Wolf! I hope you had a memorable time. (you're my oldest daugther's age)

Pressing the button for the third level, Ujio, adds "I believe we should try and get to the lower floors as quickly as possible." As the elevator begins to drop, trying to sound confident he asks, "I believe Kenzo and I, armed and armored as we are, should be in front. Ms Nikola you maintain communication with the AI using the chromebook and use its camera access to try and see what we are up against. Professor, you bring up the rear. Hopefully nothing will get past us or sneak up behind us." He turns and gives a weak smile looking up at the man. "I've no doubt with your size you can handle that axe."

As soon as the doors open we will continue taking 10 on perception (16) and stealth (12)

Hey Nikola and Kenzo, as you've probably figured out, I like playing characters that can keep the game moving. But I don't want to drown out you characters making it no fun for you. Do one of you want to take point, or make more decisions, or throw in other ideas? It won't bother me, I just like to keep moving so I post that way. Any ideas how we can work you in more?

Kenzo did you put on the 'riot gear' we got from the guards room?

Nodding in agreement with Kenzo, Ujio, leaving his mop handle, moves towards the common room. Grabbing a couple bottles of water, he gestures for the others to do the same. Moving towards the second guard room, he asks again, "I.D.A. you say we must get to the fourth level, how deep does the elevator go?"

His eyes widen as Ujio realizes in that spit second, that no one was going to listen to a maimed janitor. About to panic, he hears a loud clap and Nikola's voice behind him. As the two students and nurse begin to move, he turns and nods to her, mouthing the word 'arigatō.'

As they head to the library, Ujio, hearing the doctors question, realizes he'd not been with them when they found the AI. Gesturing towards the chromebook "Ms Nikola carries an Individualized Digital Assistant which is attacked to a larger mainframe. It has been of great value." He looks towards Nikola, hoping she may explain more after they deal with the librarian.

Relieved that the Doctor was able to convince the librarian to let them have the armor, Ujio quickly crawls under the sheld, standing he bows to the Librarian, "Thank you Ms Yamariza." Seeing the bundles wrapped in carpet and the blood on her clothing, Ujio raises an eyebrow, but says nothing. remembering the quiet woman he'd passed in the hall, he reminded himself the steel of a blade cannot truly be known until it is tested.

Thinking of blades, he watched as the librarian opened the case his eyes drawn to the Katana, how many times had he admired the weapon, wishing he could open the case and admire it firsthand. The kikko armor was a perfect example from the edo period, not just the 'jacket' but the 'collapsible helmet' and greaves as well. But it was the sword that drew his attention. Gently reaching in he lifted the lacquered scabbard from its stand, drawing the blade a short distance, admiring the Shintō. For the briefest of moments his mind flashed back to the similar case his father had in his office, displaying a Daishō style handachi sword mounting.

Blinking, Ujio realized that if he kept daydreaming instead of getting ready, he would be the death of them all. Quickly setting the Katana on a library table, he stripped the greaves off of the manikin first, placing them on his legs. Quickly undoing his utility belt setting it beside the sword, he pulls the kikko armor on over his head, letting the collapsible helmet fall in place. Strapping his utility belt back on, he tucks the decorative scabbard in his belt. Turning to the librarian, he bowed again, realizing he'd not taken the throwing stars from their display case, he pics them up and drops them in a pouch on his utility belt.

Moving back under the shelf, he helps pull it back in place. Standing he smiles, looking at the others, "We should get the water bottles and head to the elevator."

I've no idea how long it would actually take to put on the kikko armor, (I'm imagining it looks some like this) or this?

Hearing the AI's reoprt, Ujio almost wishing the 'Doctor' would give orders. Setting the mop handle against the wall he rubs his face and head with his palms. Pausing to think, he considers all the problems. His hair now slightly messier, he breathes a deep sigh as he takes out his phone, setting the timer for forty five minutes.

Turning to address Nikola, he gestures towards the doctor. "Nikola, we need you to go with us, but I need you strong. Take the Doc's medicine." Then turning to Kenzo, he points towards the 'riot gear' "You need to quickly put that on." He turns to the Yoko and Matthew, "You two need to help him. We won't have time to go upstairs and get padding, but you three will." Turning towards the doctor he asks, "Professor, would you speak to the librarian with me? We need to get that armor."

As he walked toward the library he mentally kicked himself. He's spent the last year dusting the armor, daydreaming about wearing it. Now, when they needed armor, he'd completely forgotten about it. As they neared the library door, he reminded himself that it was not time to fret his brain injury, but he must stay focused. Banging on the door, he asks, "Ms Librarian, we have learned the electricity is going to fail and we need to prevent that. But there are undead in the way, please let us get the armor out of the library."

Dr. Adrian O'Brian has a +9 for diplomacy, Ujio has a -1, is it possible the Dr roll diplomacy and ujio's roll be a 'aid another? If not, use Ujio's roll.

Nodding to Matthew as the brave youth volunteers them to head upstairs, Ujio hopes he's not sent the three to their deaths. Stepping out of the doorway to let them pass, he watches the 'doctor' return from the medicine cabinet. Having seen similar drugs in the military he asks, "Do you recommend we take the shots now or wait until we are injured?"

As they prepare to leave, he looks at the 'riot gear' one last time. He considers taking it with them, but it would take longer to put it on than they have time for. Making a mental note to return for it, he gestures towards the common area. "There are bottles of water in the common area, we should grab a couple each before we descend."

Happy to carry on towards the elevator, but wasn't sure if we need to discuss anything else first?

Hearing the sound from the restroom, Ujio, look over and is relieved to see the 'Gothic Lolita' was fine. Chucking at Yoko's comment, it reminded Ujio of his friend Akira, a member of the bomb squad that was constantly telling him to lighten up and then joke about something. Smiling at Yoko's comment, he retorts, "Better the stress than the zombies."

As he considers what the AI had told them, he's relieved that the basement and building would properly drain. Looking back towards the doctor he thinks about the students the professor had abandoned. Not wanting to professors actions to be in vain, he asked, " Dr. O'Brian Would you join Kenzo, Nikola and myself? We are heading to the basement and believe having someone with medical abilities may come in useful."

He then looks toward the other three, "Matthew, Yoko and Ms Clurrizon, do you feel well enough to bring the students from upstairs down? Or do you want to wait for our return?"

Sounds like a good plan to me! Though you should take either the doctor or the nurse, then Yoko or Matthew. But you choose who goes where. You will have to fight on floors 5 and 6.

I'm ok with taking all of them, or a couple of them, or none of them. Any other opinions?

Out of curiosity, you said either the doctor or the nurse. I assumed it was for medical help. I know Dr. Adrian O'Brian is a professor, is he also a doctor? I went and looked at his sheet. He's a 'prepper' with a '10' in treat injury and '9' in Craft (Pharmaceutical) (Int). So, I guess he is close enough for practical purposes.

I paniced a little when I didn't see Yoko in the character list, she's still with us right?

As they head to the nurse's office Ujio notices the bloody drag marks. Frowning when he sees Nurse Clurrizo cowering again. Shaking his head, he apologizes. "My apologies, I thought the dead would stay dead." Making a mental note to double tap make sure they are dead, he nods in agreement with Kenzo, "Yes enraged is a good term."

As the teenage boys begin to volunteer and the good doctor starts passing out drinks, Ujio gives a shrug as he takes a cup and drinks. "No plan yet. Go to the basement see if we can follow the A.I.'s instructions." He gestures towards the hallway, "There is a medical kit from the guard's room and bottles of water in the common area, we will take them with us. we can use our phones like flashlights, at least for a bit."

He looks around the room taking note of the students: Yoko, Nikola, Matt and Kenzo then the adults: Himself, Dr O'Brian and Nurse Clurrizon. Shaking his head again, "If the power goes out while we're in the basement it will be a deathtrap. There will be no lights and no power for the elevator. Worse I fear the water will go to the lowest point and may submerge us."

He gestures towards the hallway, looking directly at Professor O'Brian. "We still have several students on the third floor, who's lives will be endanger from the water. They will have no way to get out of the building if its structural integrity fails." Looking back at the others, "Should we split and some of us go below and some of us rescue the students?"

IF we are going to 'split' the party, I would send the PC's and the AI to the basement and the NPC's to the third floor to rescue the students.

Just double checking on what will happen if the power goes out. Is the pool on the third floor or the roof? Either way if the power goes out the water will flood down through the building, as well as the electrical elevator stop working? (or so we would believe)

Wouldn't anyone not willing to risk their lives to get the power on be safer on the first floor rather than the basement (the lowest part of the building where the water would flow) when the power goes out? There would be more water, no lights, no power to get back up the elevator... it sounds like a potential death trap.

Relieved that he wasn't the only one who didn't quite understand everything the AI said, Ujio nods to Nikola, letting her know he didn't understand either. Frowning when the AI answered, it meant they would need to stop 'clearing rooms' so they could 'Rescue the students' Instead the would need to reboot the AI so they could reengage the shields to rescue all of them.

Breathing a sigh as the AI explained they would need to go to the sub-basement. Ujio had worked here a year, and he had no idea that there was a subbasement. Shaking his head. "It seems we will need to use that elevator we found."

Turning to leave Ujio blinks, pausing as the librarian said she 'protected herself.' Eventually he would ask her all about it, but presently he needed to stay focus. Looking up the hallway, realizing the guard was gone, he nods towards the nurse's office, "Let's check on Nurse Clurrizon, then head to the basement."

As he moves into the nurse's office he quickly looks around for the 'dead' guard, informing the Nurse. "We are in danger of the power going out, we are going to try and prevent that." He nods towards her two patients, "How are they doing." As he asks, he looks around for the two fire-axes.

Rolling his eyes at the Librarians responce, Ujio realized arguing with her was a moot point. "Blast!" As the power flashes off and back on, he curses when all the door lock pads go to green. Hearing the chime on the phone he listened to the AI. Concerned about shields he asks, "Another aspect of yourself? Where would the nearest one be?"

Looking at the crack in the door, trying to figure out how to earn a little trust, he responds. "With things as bad as they are, you may be in there a while. Do you have water? We have some bottles of water we can push some through the crack in the door. Is anyone in there with you?" As he readies to leave he adds, "Do not open the doors to the Yamamoto's office he is infected and the disease is deadly."

So if we don't get the 'shields' back up the swimming pool on the upperlevel will come down? So depending on the location of the nearest 'aspect' will depend on what we should do. How long would it take to put on the 'riot' gear?

Does Ujio recognize the voice?

'Smart' Calling back through the crack in the door. "No it is Janitor Yutani and a couple of students. We are making sure the building is safe and secure and gathering people to the nurses office. Would you let us in?"

Believing he hears folks talking in the Library, he turns to Kenzo and Nikola, "I hear people talking." Realizing he was still holding the mop handle in a defensive posture, he shifts it into his left hand, looking slightly less aggressive, and opens the door to the library with his right.

Chuckling at the girl's excitement, Ujio moves with her towards the nurse's office. "We are about to check the library. There are two axes in the nurse's office if you'd like to join us."

Having returned to the hallway, Ujio stops in front of the library's door, listening carefully at the door.

His only concern being not to upset the girl, the irony of the girl listening to Metalocalypse during an apocalypse is lost on Ujio as he quickly pulls the end of his mop from her chair. "My apologies, I was trying to get your attention without getting too close." He looks from the seated girl to the others, not sure how to explain he continues. "There has been an outbreak. An epidemic. It causes people to become violent. Many have died." He gestures towards the other two students. "Kenzo and Nikola are helping me secure the building." Not sure what else to say, "The nurse can explain better, we're asking people to go to her office to make sure they are safe."

I read the discussion question here first, so I thought I'd answer here as well. Favorite food for the holiday. Wow, not a safe question to ask a fat guy...you know I can't list just one. Mmmm, I grew up addicted to mashed potatoes and gravy, so they don't get to count since we'd have them all the time. But over the years there have been a few dishes that stand out and have become part of the tradition.

My father-in-law used to make beef roll-ups with a cream cheese and horseradish filling for appetizers, they're awesome. My daughter still makes them. She also makes a sweet potato dish that has a crumble instead of marshmallows which is really good too. The latest addition is a green bean dish I found during covid when I had to cook thanksgiving dinner for just myself, my wife and our moms. I've fixed it several times since then and folks ask me for the recipe. yeah, I saved it to my pintrest

Speaking over his shoulder, Ujio considers 'Black Talon's' question. If he put a password on the 'book' then if something happened to him, it would be of no use. Shaking his head, "No, no password, you are too valuable to be available to only me."

As he moved into the mac lab, he blinks, realizing the girl seems to be just sitting there listening to music. Reaching out with the mop handle, he taps the leg of her chair, hoping to get her attention. As he does so, he nods towards the computer and asks, "What are you listening to?"

Hoping the girl is well, he watches carefully for any 'symptoms' intent on taking her to the nurse and letting her explain the situation.

Would Ujio possibly recognize the girl?

As Nikola pulls out the Chromebook, Ujio extends the radio toward the girl, asking the AI "Can you download directly to the tablet now?"

Having gotten the technical equipment dealt with, Ujio, mop handle in hand, opens the door to the 'Mac lab'where the music was coming from.

AS Nikola speaks up, Ujio remembers he'd asked her to look after the 'Chromebook' turning to the girl he asks, "Nikola, I don't understand completely either, but I think the AI will still be useful. Did you happen to bring the Chromebook with you?"

Unsure about viruses breaking down the mainframe or where to plug a flash drive in, Ujio asks the AI, "We have a chromebook can you download to that?" He pause realizing the radio may not actually have the AI in it. "Or are you downloading to a flash drive at a different location?"
