I think part of the problem is the cleric did not act as a Lawful character would have. In such a town the Hellknights would have almost invariably sided with the cleric without overwhelming evidence otherwise. The cleric should not have freaked out and went nutso on the gnome, as there are much more fitting punishments than just attacking him. And even if he did, he would have been seen in the right in the views of a Hellknight. Furthermore, he only needed a good lawyer such as myself. Praise be the Prince of Law.
Also note that the spell required for the Test is not evil (no [evil] descriptor) if used for a paladin. Really shouldn't anytime, as the devil summoned can't leave the area, or affect anything outside the given arena. It also disappears if no challenger steps up or the spell runs out before the fight does, unlikely as that may be.
Introducing Tyberos. Tyberos is a human Cleric and Hellknight, and as An Asmodean Advocate a great lawyer. His sly wit and sharp thinking has gotten himself and his fellow pathfinders out of trouble on many occasions.Of course his familiar, a "viper" named Erratu, is the real player character, as we have found. He is the one who makes all the important checks, and has killed some very challenging enemies, through delivering touch spells. |
