Anyone own one of these setting books? I'd love to run a cyberpunk/futuristic pathfinder game using these rules someday, but it might be difficult if no one else has the rules.

I was thinking something a little anachronistic - either the players are from current era Golarion and wake up in the future (aka "Captain America"); or the players are elites from a more advanced planet come to scout out Golarion (aka "Welcome to Pandora").

"LACKEY?! HOW DARE YOU! I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW THAT THE QUEEN AND I ARE LOVERS!" the Prince shrieks as he sinks into the ground, leaving you alone among the hundreds, if not thousands, of tombs that dot the landscape leading up to the castle.

Night has almost fallen.

The Prince clasps his hands in delight. "A quest! How marvelous! What sort of quest would you like me to send you on? Ah, perhaps you'd like to fetch me a rare pain-flower which only grows in the belly of the fattest demon in Worldwound so that I may present it to my beloved queen! Or perhaps I shall send you to the Land of the Linnorm Kings to slay a thousand mammoths and make a marvelous coat of their hides so that I may present it to my beloved queen! Or perhaps..." Prince Deland continues to fantasize about similar quests to send you on in service of his beloved queen.

"Mister ghost? Mister ghost?" Mister ghost roars in outrage. "I am not some mere ghost to be addressed like a... uh... ghost, at your whims! I am Prince Deland! And you shall address me as such."

Apologies for my absence, I'm back and ready to roll.

"Here. Here's a book." The ghost reaches into his coat and withdraws a ghostly pocketbook. His expression suddenly turns angry as he throws the ghost pocketbook through Kayin's head. "But that's not the one you need is it? You say my dear and beloved Queen possesses it? Well then it must be hers to possess! The only thing overdue in this case seems to be some proper manners!" The ghostly man's expression returns to a vague smile.

Things are getting a bit busy for me at the moment, I'll have to duck out of this one unfortunately.

Miraculously, the ship makes it's way into the harbor unscathed. Once you set foot on the docks, it becomes apparent that the place is entirely deserted. The sun will soon set.

Suddenly, a man appears in your midst: a robed human with many tattoos on his arms and attire that suggests either a very foppish prince or a very princely fop. He is clearly a ghost, because he is quite transparent. "Welcome to the Queen's Island and the Harbor of Lost Hopes," he says. "What prompts this most unfashionable entrance?"

Anyone who cared to check would find that this ship is completely unmanned save for a captain, and runs on the power of plot necessity.

Through Chocola and Kayin's combined efforts Lazarus' body finally comes free of the steering wheel and collapses onto the deck. Moments later, the body instantly crumbles into some sort of fine powder, which is immediately carried away by the wind. The six of you are all alone on the ship now.

Nothing on the black flags.

Tre:
You've never heard of any resurrection mechanism remotely like this. The powder's all blown away now, but perhaps if you collected some another time...

"Somorath the sea titan," Lazarus explains. "No one really knows where he came from or how he did or why his name is Somorath, but popular rumor holds that the Lich Queen plans to raise the thing as an undead behemoth. Speaking of the Lich Queen, I must stress beyond all else and can not warn you enough (in fact you'd best write this down) that..." Before Lazarus can finish, the ships pitches violently as it cruises over some unseen rock just under the water. Lazarus loses his balance and pitches forward onto a one of the suspiciously sharp spokes of the ship's steering wheel, which impales him through the head and kills him instantly.

Let's get this show on the road (or rather, the sea)!

Hirakari passes Kayin the box containing the Liebrarian's key with a sly smile. "Queen Ilnora lives in Anamareth, the City Unforgotten. Lazarus knows the way. Better get there before nightfall though!"

///

One sailing montage later, you find yourselves approaching the cursed isle of Gho Vella with a despondent Lazarus in tow. The island has a tall central hill with a smoking volcano crater at its peak, dense jungle along many of its flanks, and a huge walled section covered with hundreds or even thousands of tombs and mausoleums. Closer to you, you see an enormous titan's corpse washed up on the beach. Swarms of birds and crabs nibble at the decaying flesh, and the smell drifts hundreds of yards to your ship.
On the northwestern curve of the island ahead of you, you see a harbor entrance and a dozen ships in various states of decay, each flying a black flag. This must be the City Unforgotten, Anamareth, and a castle stands on a height above it.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Here's what I have for my Yidhran pact magicker so far:

Background:
Remus wanted nothing more than to be an adventurer. Unfortunately he had no dead parents to avenge, possessed no foul artifacts in need of destruction, and knew of no world-threatening evils to vanquish. Even more problematically, he was born without arms.

As a child, Remus always fancied his strange condition the result of a centuries-old curse, believing that he'd simply find a way to break the curse somehow and then he and his arms would be well on their way towards a proper adventure. However, as he grew older Remus came to realize that as far as he knew none of his ancestors (a long and noble lineage of sustenance farmers) had ever done anything curse-worthy, making this theory highly unlikely. Instead he set his sights upon an only marginally more realistic scheme - growing a pair of arms via magic. Lacking any magical training of his own and unwilling to track down a wizard (Remus actually found the whole concept of wizards rather frightening) the young lad decided the best way to magic himself some arms would be an appeal to the gods or at least some of their earthly servants.

And so Remus set off into the world in search of a temple or other holy place where he might find some powerful divine magic. Much to his surprise, travelling without arms proved surprisingly easy. Bandits tended to completely ignore him on that grounds that a man with no arms couldn't possibly have much more to lose and in every town and village he gained immediate popularity as a beggar to the point where he could easily support himself off donations. His biggest obstacles were in fact he other beggars - especially the one-armed ones - who found Remus' plight rather excessive and in poor taste.

The first priests Remus came across belonged to a lavish temple dedicated to Thyr and Muir, a god and goddess who Remus learned were both very much in decline but also very fashionable. These priests worried that Remus' appearance might disturb their worshipers and so the priests decided that justice and virtue would best be served by paying a group of beggars to run the armless man out of town. The next town over Remus met the priestesses of Ceres, goddess of healing. Unfortunately, the priestesses explained, they could not heal what was never there in the first place.

The only priest to do Remus any good at all was a dying worshiper of Yidhra. This priest found the idea of an armless adventurer rather ridiculous and so, naturally, took an immediate liking to Remus. In his last days, the priest passed on his knowledge of spirit-binding to Remus. These spirits, according to the priest, were fragments of Yidhra's mortal history which could bestow fantastic powers upon the faithful. Supposedly, Yidhra's existence is dependent upon some mortal learning her entire history - an achievement which paradoxically has yet to be completed. This confused Remus greatly but nevertheless fascinated him. Furthermore, although the spirits could not give him arms, the power they carried might put him on equal footing with other adventurers, quickly earning Yidhra another convert. Once the old priest died, Yidhra's newest priest wasted no time setting out to compile the fabled history.

Remus had found his adventure.

રોમ્યુલસ (closest approximation in the common tongue: Romulux) wanted nothing more than to prove his dedication to purging the universe of chaos. He (here used for convenience, for Romulux is technically genderless) belonged to a race of psionic aberrations who survive by devouring the thoughts and memories of sentient creatures, thus remaking them in an image of perfect order by destroying any chaotic impulses. Romulux knew his destiny involved greater things than destroying minds one by one - he wanted to eat a god.

The wrench (or perhaps catalyst) in Romulux's plans came when he found himself wrenched away from his home plane and into the mind of some poor fellow who'd been taken prisoner by a crazed wizard. Scanning over prisoner's mind, Romulux gathered that the man had broken into the wizard's library to steal some bit of lore and now the wizard hoped to punish him by having Romulux remodel the offender into some sort of mindless slave. This was exactly the sort of petty work Romulux detested.

As the haughty abberation continued to plumb the depths the captive mind, he realized that the contested lore related to Yidhra (who Romulux detested most of all) and that his host's mission was to assemble a complete history of Yidhra's life. Romulux quickly realized that not immediately destroying his host might actually be beneficial - once the young priest's mission was complete, Romulux could devour all of Yidhra's life in one fell swoop and unmake her on the spot!

First things first, Romulux decided, this poor fool's going to need some arms.

Advancement, Etc.:
Essentially, Remus (high priest of Yidhra) and Romulux (sworn enemy of Yidhra) have decided to work together towards the end goal of both simultaneously destroying and protecting Yidhra, all while getting wrapped up in whatever the Sundered Kingdoms holds for them. Remus is a naive yound lad out to see the world, where Romulux is an egotistical cynic who isn't competent at much outside of his telekinesis. Mechanically, they'll be represented by the two halves of the gestalt - Remus being the CN occultist and Romulux being the LN personality behind Remus' arms in the form of a hekatonkheires symbiat. Remus will provide some general pact magic versatility (favoring more "castery" forms over melee ones), while Romulux will add some telekinetic abilities/protokinesis feats to the mix.

I'll update gameplay later tonight, I'm going to switch up the plan a bit to move things along while allowing those who can't post right now to just jump in whenever.

Lady Titinia seems as though she's about to raise another objection when Hirakari cuts her off. "Storage? Gear? Assistance? Absolutely!" She holds out a slightly corroded copper key just under a foot in length and a matching black box. "Take this Liebrarian's Key and this box to store it in and I'm certain that my dear friend Lazarus would be willing to chaperone you and protect you from anything dangerous. Problem solved!"

Indeed - I know my posting times can be somewhat erratic given my shifting work schedule, but I think everything is moving along very nicely so far.

I took this option for Tre because I thought it fit well with the somewhat contradictory information we have about Native Outsiders and aging, with it representing that her physical development hasn't quite caught up with her mental development.

With that in mind would it be possible for Tre's transformation to age her up in appearance, changing her size from a (tall) small to a (short) medium? This would be almost entirely cosmetic but would help support a stronger RP difference between normal Tre and transformed Tre such as transformed Tre having more self-confidence

Sounds good.

"Pardon Headmaster, but do you have someplace where we can store our stuff while we're on this, what did you call it, New Students Orientation Field Trip?"

The Omnesiac cracks a friendly smile, "We actually have plenty of storage..." Titania cuts in, "Inside the academy. For admitted students only. Paperwork required." The Omnesiac smiles even wider, "Still, this errand couldn't possibly take too long, so I'm sure you'll be able to bear the temporary inconvenience."

Meanwhile, Hirakari seems pleasantly surprised by Tre and Vinda's enthusiasm, weakly mimicking the devil horns. "It's a very simple little book and while I could tell you what it is, the one thing I love more than books is surprises. Although I suppose you do deserve a tiny hint since you are all so lovely and interesting. My hint, which I'm sure you've already figured out considering that I am a Liebrarian, is this: the book lies."

GM Rednal wrote:
@Tuxedo: Yes. I actually backed the Kickstarter for that, so I have full access to it. XD What kind of setup were you thinking of using?

I was thinking of doing a pact magic Occultist//Oracle of Yidhra. The character would channel what they believe to be incarnations of Yidhra in her mortal life before she ascended to godhood AKA spirits. Obviously, with all the variety of spirits this would mean a wildly inconsistent and contradictory origin story!

And now it's time to meet the final member of the Elite Four! And get ready to actually take matters into your own hands! And stop getting tricked by the ridiculous and completely unwelcoming authority figures! Well, two of those things are true anyway..

Titania - or rather her ego - now towers over you as she proclaims victory. "Settled indeed - having lost the duel you've also lost hold to any claim of innocent intent regarding you're tampering with of the forms. The penalty for which is INSTANT EX-"

"Expulsion?" offers up The Omnesiac, who if asked would say he's been there the entire time. This obviously couldn't possibly be true, but if almost any student in the vicinity was questioned they mysteriously wouldn't be able to remember the precise moment he did arrive. Titania, Lazarus, and King Mob are now bowing their heads in reverence, although a closer glance reveals that King Mob is actually bending his head to sip some sort chilled drink (complete with tiny umbrella) out of a very short straw.

"I must admit that while expelling these hopeful students would be proper, your most gracious headmaster is nothing if not merciful. As the saying goes, 'A second chance is, um, well...' Yes, that's the saying, "a second chance is, um, well!" Even the Elite Four seem a little skeptical of this claim. "Furthermore," continues The Omnesiac, "As per that dreadfully named student handbook, unregistered students may receive pardon for any offenses committed before registration by embarking on a dangerous and life-threatening que- I mean, perfectly harmless New Students Orientation Field Trip entrusted to them by one of the Elite Four! So how about it, which one of you needs some errand run?"

Lady Titania is obstinately refusing to speak, Lazarus looks too afraid of Titania to say anything, and King Mob is sleeping.

"I believe I can help with that." Another girl is standing in line with the Elite Four.

For some reason unknown even to The Omnesiac, there are some girls who no matter how doggedly they pursue the whole goth style, will always end up with a sort of half-baked "wannabe-vampire" look. This girl, on the other hand, can only dream of coming close to one of those "wannabe-vampires" - she is perhaps best described as a "wannabe-'wannabe-vampire.'" The basic elements are all there (gothic lace, corset, choker, pale skin, suspiciouly familiar black lipstick and razor sharp fingernails, etc.), but they've all been laughably overdone, to the point that she's passed the sphere of taking herself seriously into the realm of irony but then travelled so far that she's arrived back at seriousness.

"My name is Hirakari and its a pleasure to meet all of you." She has a kind of sing-songy voice that wants to be attractive and spine-chilling at the same time, but only partially succeeds by being spine-chillingly unattractive. In case you haven't guessed, I too am a member of the Elite Four AND have a lovely little errand to boot. As the Chief Liebrarian for the academy's Liebrary (the largest private collection of Lies) I loan out all sorts of books to all sorts of exotic people. Recently I loaned a teeny little insignificant book to the Bloodless Lich Queen Ilnora who lives on the dreaded and cursed isle of Gho Vella and the book is now long overdue. If you'd be willing to undertake this very simple errand, I'm certain our headmaster could find a place for you six cute girls here at the House of Unyielding Radiance."

Question regarding third party - would Radiance House pact magic be allowed?

As Vinda swings her guitar-axe, Lazarus awkwardly attempts to dodge out of the way, only to find himself tangled up in Shona's whip causing Lazarus' glasses to fall off his face to the ground. Somehow, he manages to twist himself around in midair and onto the bladed edge of the guitar-axe, which promptly decapitates him.

"And it looks like the girls have fallen for THE OLDEST TRICK IN THE BOOK! That's another victory for Lazarus the Undefeatable! As King Mob goes wild in the mirror, Lazarus' lifeless head rolls across the ground and comes to a stop under Titania's foot. "As per the The Book of the House of Unyielding Radiance Student Code of Conduct killing another student during a duel results in immediate disqualification and a loss for the offending team." Two students hastily cart Lazarus' corpse off on a stretcher as Titania continues her explanation of the rules. "Because of the particular wording of the rulebook, the student who dies doesn't technically accrue a loss. Normally, this little detail wouldn't matter much with the duelist being dead, but in this case..."

Right as you lose sight of the stretcher, Lazarus, now perfectly whole, steps out from the other side of the crowd and places the fallen pair of glasses back on his face. King Mob chimes in to finish Titania's explanation, "...LAZARUS HAS MIRACULOUSLY RISEN, GAINING VICTORY BY RIDICULOUS TECHNICALITY!"

Yes and yes to Vinda and Kayin. Shiro, no worries.

As everyone begins to draw their weapons, the informant shifts uncomfortably in place - he doesn't seem to be armed."Very well then... LET.. THE DUEL..." Before Titania can get a "begin" out, a huge seven foot tall mirror rimmed with polished steel comes crashing into the ground nearby, embedding itself upright and sending multiple students in the vicinity flying. The mirror appears to have been launched from inside the academy, as a heavy chain runs from the mirror over the top of the gates. The surface of the mirror begins to ripple, after which an image appears.

Lady Titania turns her head away in disgust.

The image in the mirror sharpens into a pile of scantily clad women in various states of wakefullness. The women begin to clear out of way, revealing a man sitting on a throne made up of more scantily clad women. The man (who looks just a little too old to be a high-schooler) is shirtless and bears a stylized "KM" tattooed across his chest. His hair has been painstakingly styled into rows of increasingly larger spikes. Coiled around his head like a crown is an iridescent serpent-like creature which is distorting the air around it, as if by heat. On a nearby pedestal (which is actually two more women) is a book titled Naughty and Nice only the word 'Nice' has been scratched out and replaced with another 'Naughty'.

Knowledge (planes) DC 12:
The "crown" is actually a voidworm, a species of the chaotically-aligned Protean race.

"Woah, woah, woah, WOAH! Don't tell me you were about to start a duel without introducing the contestants? Especially considering how stuck up you are about protocol!"

Titania still refuses to even look at the mirror."Speaking of tardiness, this incorrigable slacker is King Mob, who inexplicably holds a spot among the Elite Four."

"No need to get so hostile now! You should be thanking me for bringing some much needed flair to your dry, dry duel. So without further ado..." Spotlights appear on Vinda, Shona, and Kayin, "Allow me to present our first team, consisting of Wierd Fox Girl, Hot Musician Girl, and Whip-Wielding Wasp Girl. Ooh, kinky! And in the other corner..." Spotlights on the informant, "A member of the Elite Four and President of the Dueling Club, undefeated in any school-sanctioned battle, the one and only Lazarus the Undying! READYYYYYYYYYYYYYY FIGHT!"

Lazarus adjusts his glasses nervously, but makes now move to attack.

You three have the initiative.

Vinda Ortlovski wrote:
Vinda puts her guitar down on the ground, and begins stripping off her other weapons as well. "No weapons, I assume?"

"You assumed wrong. This isn't some playground brawl like I'm sure you're used to. If you aren't skilled enough to use your weapon to make nonlethal strikes, then I don't know what chance you could possibly stand." Remember that any melee weapon can deal nonlethal damage by taking a -4 penalty to the attack roll. As if by way of demonstration, Titania slams the flat of her blade into the stomach of the poor informant, who lets out a hiss of air as he flies back into the center of the clearing. "And another thing! I don't know where you got the idea that you could possibly hold your own against me, but you'll be challenging your accuser directly."

The informant can barely sputter, "Bu-bu-but I didn't agree to this!"

"TOO LATE!" Titania shrieks back at him, "As my second in this matter, you're honor bound to fight and this duel has already been agreed to. Unless these girls are cowardly enough to forfeit of course..."

Just got to watch that video Vinda posted. I'm a little bummed because I usually post from work where I can't watch videos or listen to music in what I can already tell is going to be a very music heavy game.

Vinda INT check:
Assuming that the arbiter is actually her spirit guide, controlling such a creature would require a power level well above your abilities. She's at least 7th level.

Lady Titania smirks at Vinda's challenge. "You seek to prove your innocence by show of force? Very well, if you aren't all talk, then you'll surely agree to a school-sanctioned duel? Official academy rules of course - non-lethal attacks only."

"The headmaster's administrative policies are not on trial here, you are! And regardless, tardiness is not the crime in question, but rather your blatant thievery and tampering with of the forms, for which I have eyewitness evidence of." As the informant attempts to slink past Titania, she swings the blade end of the so that it blocks his path - neatly slicing off a few of the boy's hairs in the process.

"Why do I always get dragged into these things," he moans.

"The Omnesiac himself sent me to handle this particular matter with full jurisdiction!" Lady Titania glowers at Vinda. "Forms were provided at the beginning of orientation to all students who arrived on time. Timeliness is listed in The Book of the House of Unyielding Radiance Student Code of Conduct as a requirement for those Pure of Heart. Tardy students such as yourselves are undeserving of paperwork!"

"As for you," Titania dramatically sweeps the blunt end of her polearm so that it stops mere inches from Shona's face (breaking the laws of geometry in the process - the two seemed to have been standing at least 20 feet apart). "My informant tells me that YOU are one of the prime culprits! Do you mean to accuse him of lying?" The perpetually-out-of-breath boy that the form-less students rallied behind earlier begins trying to slink away guiltily.

I feel somewhat like an echo but I also appreciate the feedback.

When I say analytical/intelligence I don't mean from a statblock/filling party roles point of view. I liked that while everyone else was finding ways to steal/charm other's out of their forms, Tre came in from a completely different angle by simply making new ones.

Well written and thought out was of course a baseline requirement for any submission to even be considered, so no worries there!

Also, is it okay with you that Shona has a pistol in her wrist sheath? Some GM's contend that a pistol would be too large for a wrist sheath, so I just wanted to make sure you were okay with it. I can have her wear a holster somewhere if that's preferable.

Sounds cool but the physics seem a little sketchy. In other words, definitely yes!

Re: Why everyone got picked: The short version:
Vinda was the first pick because I felt the whole rockstar vibe would thrive in a game like this (also because cartmanbeck originally proposed the idea). Shona and Chocola got in because I loved their interaction and how you two built off each other in the sample roleplay. Tre added some much needed analytical/intelligence aspect to the group, and I figured Shiro would bring a bit of the same but in a different way. Finally, Kayin seemed like a good well-rounded character to cap off the group and the prospect of have an (eventually) nine-tailed fox in the game speaks for itself.

"Pure of heart!

Strong of soul!

Steel of mind!

THESE are the tenets which are laid out in The Book of the House of Unyielding Radiance Student Code of Conduct, THESE are the tenets which all new students are expected to uphold, THESE are the tenets which make up the very foundation of this institution! And what do I find instead!

Thievery! Forgery! And General skullduggery! Disappointing."

From atop the gates, the voice of an armor-clad girl booms down upon you. Despite the harshness of her voice, she possesses a regal and almost inhuman grace. The design of her armor is sharp, angular, orderly in contrast to an untameable tangle of bright orange hair. In spite (or perhaps because) of the clashing styles, the girl is strikingly beautiful - if looks could kill, she would be their militarized form.

In one hand she carries an unnecessarily large and extravagant polearm (a glaive-guisarme-bardiche-something-or-the-other) and in the other a winged clockwork sphere with a single eye in the center, which appears to be alive.

Knowledge (planes) DC 12:
The creature she holds (most likely a powerful spirit guide) is an Arbiter, an outsider of the lawfully-aligned Inevitable race.

A nearby student conveniently thinks out loud, "It's Titania of the Elite Four and last surviving member of the legendary Midsummer Knights!"

With a single, effortless leap, Titania lands in the middle of the crowd of students unharmed. "That's Lady Titania to you."

Business stuff: get those sheets all finished up and get those vitals displayed.

Cue background music...

Camera flies through endless rows of bookshelves somewhere deep and dark. Up ahead, red wax candles dimly illuminate a lone hooded figure.

As the music picks ups: sudden zoom towards the scene. The close up shows a hand bearing jet black fingernails tracing the indecipherable text in an obviously evil-looking tome. The nails soon move up to slice some exposed patch of pale flesh, dripping blood into a small bowl. As the blood pools, an image appears on it's surface - the scrying shows six students currently standing outside the House of Undying Radiance:

  • Vinda Ortlovski
  • Shona Faun
  • Chocola
  • Kayin Ashok
  • Tremetorideria Centicus
  • Shirokuro Shisōka

A tongue licks the last bit of blood off the fingernails before retreating behind a pair of black lips. The lips smirk.

Judgement has been passed! Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who applied. All of the submissions, both those that did and didn't make the final cut, brought some really great and thematic material to the table. To those not picked I wish you the best and perhaps I'll see you someday in HoUR season 2 - the gritty cyberpunk reboot! My sinister six can move to discussion and in the mean time I'm going to get the gameplay moving as soon as I can.

My apologies, I forgot that I had a bunch of family stuff this weekend (graduations, etc).

To tide yourselves over for now, have a listen to the HoUR opening theme, complete with vaguely related lyrics!

Lyrics:
Flowing along as signaled, in an orbital of light.
That one thing –
Shall we capture it in a cage and change the future for all to see?

Like the power that dwells within
The little sacred souls of words…

My disassembled body is already growing lighter,
And the flying, scattered parts have become comets.
I’m sure that everyone is holding up a hand in front of the sight that they wished deeply for,
And in that way, they’re taken away.

A world, drawing and gathering complicated lines…
A breeze from the pure wingbeats of a butterfly will send down torrents of rain somewhere.

The sacred souls of words, all together as one,
Hold enough power for dancing through the air.

Nothing difficult has ever existed from the start.
There are no rules.
The record that someone decided on has become smudges of ink on scraps of paper.

G o o d b y e.

Which way shall we go?
We’ll fly across time and space,
To warm place or a cold one, it doesn’t matter to me.
Nothing difficult has ever existed from the start.
Now, let’s go.

My disassembled body is already growing lighter,
And the flying, scattered parts have become comets.
I’m sure that everyone is holding up a hand in front of the sight that they wished deeply for,
And in that way, they’re taken away.

I'm still interested, but holding off on making a character until I know what other folks are considering as my concept could fit a number of different roles.

Recruitment is officially closed!

Selecting the final party is taking longer than I thought - there's just a lot of good stuff for me to look over. I'd like to say I'll have my final picks done by today, but tomorrow looks more likely.

Ah, I thought I was missing someone. Edited in.

The player's guide isn't terribly long - I've read through it, but I just can't decide what kind of character I want to play.

One question: would you allow an alchemist's tumor familiar to take a familiar archetype?

So here's the plan: later today I'll throw up a list with all the completed submissions to make sure I haven't missed anyone, and then tomorrow recruitment will close so that I can work out the final cast of characters (which will be no easy task considering the current submissions).

Disappointed to see this hasn't gotten more interest, so here's a question hoping to bump it back onto the radar.

Considering the whole "wake up with amnesia angle," do characters begin with any equipment or starting wealth?

Recruitment will officially close on the 31st - Tuesday.

Looks intriguing.

What options from the player's guide are available at character creation? I'm assuming Essence Type is, but what about the Eldritch Knowledge options listed under "The Method" or the Covenants and Acquired Feats list?

Ah, I meant to mention the alignment bit in the previous post - yes, your transformation may have alignment changing properties.

Combo attacks are an interesting idea, I'll think on that.

I'm still thinking about a couple different options for the transformation ability, although most of them would take effect later in the game, so nothing to worry about now. At the moment, it's only aesthetic. Even something as simple as this:

Narly, at least right now, is not much of a changey guy. If he changes at all it will be via a spell he knows otherwise he will just be changing into the exact same person with his hood up and a cool backdrop.

is fine for a transformation sequence, or it could of course be completely over the top.

I don't want to spoil too much, but I do have a rough arc planned if we make it to a full campaign, and there will be a significant segment of the game that takes place away from the House of Unyielding Radiance and deep in enemy territory where the disguise aspect will come in handy.
