Hawthwile's second choice! Who wants to hear the good word of Iomedae? That's right - you do. An evangelist cleric, so there's a bit of overlap with our bard's inspirational abilities - but I can use other abilities more heavily or possibly look at retraining his archetype. Profile hasn't been updated to lvl 5 yet.

Still waiting to hear from our other players if they would enjoy the skald.

To clarify: the skald is a spell warrior - so replacing rage with weapon enhancements.

Since we've already got another divine caster in the group, do we want to swap Tseghet out for someone else? I do realize that this would mean an entirely different party with no holdover from the previous campaign, but I want to make sure folks are happy and we feel like we're not teetering on the edge of a knife all the time. XD

I have the following characters in range (listed in order of level):
- Bloodrager 4
- Skald 5
- Cleric 5 (Tseghet)
- Barbarian 5
- Occultist 6

I also could have a Kineticist 6, though they're still involved in another scenario that seems to be moving fairly slowly and might not be available for quite some time so I wouldn't want to wait for them unless everyone feel very strongly about bringing them.

Out of the options, my first thought would be the Skald. And entertainingly, his first adventure was the top floor of the Spire a while back. XD

TOZ can bring a support oracle and Wei Ji can bring a support fighter. So a swashbuckler sounds more attractive than another divine caster, lol.

That's what I'm doing with my arcanist that's getting my GM chronicles from the Spire. It works decently well until you get into lvl 8 - then you have to be careful that they don't level out of their Spire chronicles from playing other games too much since all the Spire chronicles are slow-tracked. XD

But thanks for being willing to pick this table up! We'll certainly miss having Merritt - maybe we'll find someone to trade back and forth with for different levels.

I'll reach out to TOZ and see if they want to drive a pregen through this coming floor for no credit and then join us with their "actual" character at the next floor. And it's even legal now since you can have a table of just two PC's. XD

When it rains, it pours! I was also contacted by GM Abraham - they've got a party that's also at Floor 6 and needing to consolidate/conglomerate with other folks. I'd be tempted, but Oxnard already contacted us and we accepted so I'd hate to back out on them (and from the looks of things, there's plenty of folks wanting to join at this floor for both parties).

Alright, we've got a replacement GM! Oxnard Kettlebeak / Nathanael Love has expressed interest in taking us the rest of the way through the Spire, and it looks like this group is going to be a good fit for them. Woo!

@Xave, let us know when you've got the Chronicle sheets done and if you still want to join as a player (and if so, with which character).

@Merritt, let's start reviewing the characters that have expressed interest in playing and see if we can't make a cohesive, entertaining party out of the lot.

Fellow humble followers of Iomedae, hear me! I fear disaster of the highest order has struck - an expedition of the Inheritor's disciples has lost some of their flock! These brave, fearless souls, striving only to attain a mere sliver of the Lady of Valor's grace, have proven their worth time and time again no matter what the foul forces of the Abyss throw at us in the depths of their Emerald Spire! Even the floods of the River Styx could not drown our light, try as they might - but when the waters receded we found three of our companions missing! Who among you is ready to let the Light of the Sword into your heart and join us as we drive the Inheritor's blade all the way down to the deepest depths of this Spire? I swear to you, we shall not rest until this is done!

Preaching aside, another player and I are wrapping up Floor 5 of the Emerald Spire and could use some help. Two of our players have had to leave the campaign and our GM also needs to step back from this adventure. While it is possible they might have the bandwidth to join as a player, we won't get very far without a GM.

Right now the party has:
- Evangelist cleric (that'd be Tseghet)
- Crimson Chymist / Trap Breaker alchemist
...and that's it.

We might still want to look for another player - it seems a bit much to not someone through an entire floor.

It’s canon now - Iomedae officially hates frogs. XD Once Merritt steps forward, Tseghet will step into the vacated square, draw his weapon, and SMITE the froggo!

Grimly, Tseghet thrusts the wand into the tiefling's hand. "The Inheritor teaches us not to become locked in our ways simply because it is the easiest path," he intones, voice booming through the water. "Now go, and restore our comrade in arms. Iomedae will guide mine, and yours if you are ready to accept her grace." Divine light bathes the half-orc, surrounding him with a brilliant nimbus.

Move action to give Merritt the wand, standard to cast divine favor. If Merritt follows Torrak down the hallway next round, Tseghet will step into the space Merritt vacated and attack the frog.

Goodness - it’s like Merritt doesn’t even appreciate all the hard work Tseghet’s doing. XD Make that 2 points of damage!

”The Inheritor lends her strength to my arm!” Tseghet continues, but he’s relying more now on the echoing reverberations of his voice underwater to carry Iomedae’s message. ”As She once changed troop formations in the Siege of the Gallowspire, so too shall we adapt and overcome!” He taps the dwarf again with his wand before drawing his morningstar.

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

If Merritt wants to swap positions and take over healing Torrak, Tseghet can pass him the wand and hit the frog instead.

Whoops, thought Tseghet had already acted!

Wand in hand, Tseghet channels the implement's healing power through himself into his dwarven companion. "Zelphar, the water elemental!" he bellows. "Now!"

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

"Stop her vile summoning!" Tseghet bellows as he reaches past the tiefling to lay a hand on the dwarf's short form. "Where is that water elemental to harass her?"

Cure Moderate Wounds: 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (5, 1) + 4 = 10

No, but really. Hit the caster with magic missiles this round and then drop a water elemental on her next round to keep her from casting more spells. If we get rid of her, her eidolon vanishes too.

Wait, when did Tseghet get hit?

"Call forth the angels of water, Zelphar!" Tseghet commands, his voice easily heard above the clash of steel and the roar of battle. "Let them harass the foul spellcaster while the just strike down her defenders! Look, the Inheritor blesses us and lends your blade her awe-inspiring power!" As the half-orc lays a hand on Torrak's nodachi, it glows with a brilliant white light.

Maintain the performance and cast weapon of awe on Torrak's nodachi.

And make Tseghet lose his newest convert to the Inheritor's faith!? What heresy is this!? Nay, what blasphemy!?

I was tossing around the idea of rotating who GMs each floor, but I'd hate to suddenly be missing Torrak and have to get through an entire dungeon with no front-liner (or no healer), so let's not do that.

”Iomedae’s Chosen know when to push forward and when to defend a fortified position!” Tseghet intones. ”Now go forth and show Her that you have taken Her wisdom to heart!”

Beginning Inspire Courage +1 and drawing morningstar.

Entertainingly, the character I'm putting my GM credits on for the Spire is an arcanist. XD However, she's already got chronicle sheets for the next three floors (though I haven't applied the third sheet yet and could still swap it to another character) and thus wouldn't be available for a while. If we wanted to switch Tseghet out for her at that point, I can stop applying chronicle sheets to her and "hold" her until this game has caught up with her.

Granted, this is all assuming we find a GM that everyone has fun with.

Goodness knows nobody needs another source of anxiety this year. Hugs, GM.

I would want to press onward - it might be tricky finding a player ready to join mid-way through the Spire, but we can’t have been the only group to have folks losing steam before the end.

If the other two folks would want to continue as well, I can reach out in the Recruitment lodge thread. Or does somebody have a particular GM/player in mind already?

Tseghet lets the echoes of his voice ring off the walls as he nods to his wizardly friend and moves out of the way. "The Inheritor values those who seek to utilize sound tactics," he preaches, placing a hand on Torrak's back. "Open your mind to Her wisdom, and She will guide your sword."

Move and cast guidance on Torrak.

Tseghet sloshes forward. ”Though the earth might crumble under your feet and the skies turn dark, the faithful will not let their faith in the Inheritor be so easily shaken!” he preaches loudly. ”So stand strong, and know that She will guide your hand to smite evil!”

Move and begin Inspire Courage +1

Knowledge (planes): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

"I do not recognize it," Tseghet admits. "Zelphar, perhaps you have dealt with a creature such as this before? Is it open to the teachings of the Inheritor, or is its heart merely full of mindless savagery?"

"Once more, good has prevailed!" Tseghet declares loudly. "Give thanks to the Inheritor for this swift and decisive victory!"

No preference on where we go next.

"And even as you raise your blade against Her faithful, know that the most holy wrath of the Inheritor shall smite you down!" Tseghet proclaims. "Onward to battle, faithful! Merritt, smite her with holy fire! Zelphar, conjure your allies from Her holy realm in Heaven to block the fiendish beast lurking in the depths! Torrak, hound the heretic and keep her foul magics at bay!" Drawing his morningstar, the priest moves around Torrak to give his other two allies room to maneuver.

Feel free to ignore Tseghet's orders, BTW. It might be best to send Torrak after the crab-creature, but if we can take out the caster then it might be easier to handle. Starting inspire courage and moving, drawing weapon as part of movement.

"Do you mean the villain who attacked us unprovoked?" Tseghet answers in with righteous condemnation. "The one who met my companion's polite inquiry with spell and blade, throwing his lifeless body to the floor with careless cruelty?"

I mean, Tseghet's almost remembering it correctly. Merritt asked, got "Roll initiative" as a response, got the drop on initiative and threw a bomb, and then the crab-thing pounced on him and knocked him unconscious. Still very unprovoked in Tseghet's mind. XD

Can do!

Tseghet struggles against the bubble-like protection on the doorway, but is too proud to ask Torrak for help. Instead, he clasps his hands in supplication and pushes against the barrier again. Unclenching his jaw, the half-orc takes several deep breaths before placing both hands on the edges of the doorframe and pulling himself into the air.

Emerging from the water like a newly-baptized acolyte, Tseghet holds out his empty hands. "By the Inheritor's mighty sword, I come in peace!" he proclaims. Don't know how well they'll hear underwater, he thinks to himself. Better bump up the volume just in case. "MY COMPANIONS AND I ARE TRAVELERS, HERE TO EXPLORE THIS SPIRE OF EMERALD! IF YOU MEAN US NO HARM, THEN WE TOO SHALL KEEP OUR BLADES SHEATHED! IF I HARBOR ANY FALSEHOOD OR DECEIT IN MY HEART, MAY HER SWORD STRIKE ME DOWN NOW WHERE I STAND!" He pauses to clear his throat, then continues, "AND WHO MIGHT I HAVE THE HONOR OF ADDRESSING?"

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

Entertainingly, Tseghet's archetype gives him a bonus to be heard. XD

"Perhaps they have realized that violence is only the first answer when faced with evil," Tseghet answers. "The Inheritor does not condone wanton bloodshed - it is good to hear that you have taken Her lessons to heart, Torrak."

Tseghet would certainly be down to talk, and he's put a bit of work into persuading people (rather than just shouting over them, lol).

Since I'm currently running a table of this module for some friends, Tseghet will not make decisions on where to go next or what to do unless someone specifically asks him or we need a tiebreaker. Otherwise he'll be happy (enough) to go with the flow (though he might speak very loudly about how Iomedae would never do such a thing as the group is doing...).

"And once more the forces of Heaven are victorious!" Tseghet declares triumphantly. "Give praise and thanks to the Inheritor for Her blessings, and humbly pray that She might grant Her favor upon Her chosen again!"

”Now strike while the fiend is distracted!” Tseghet commands, voice carrying over the sounds of battle and falling water. ”For honor! For glory! For the Inheritor!”

Restarting Inspire Courage.

"Do not falter, Torrak the Faithful!" Tseghet commands as he sloshes into the chamber. "It is the nature of Evil to wear away at our resolve, but the Inheritor calls us to be heroes! And we will obey!" He strikes the dwarf ceremoniously with the flat of his blade, transferring the holy light surrounding it to the dwarf.

Casting guidance on Torrak. Inspire Courage is still lingering for this round.

The shimmer of Iomedae’s divine power covers Tseghet’s hand as he places it dramatically on Torrak’s back once more. ”The Inheritor knows when a tactical retreat is better than overextending one’s arm,” he declares, seeming to point his words at Merritt through the mist.

Casting guidance on Torrak, dropping performance and letting linger for one more round after this one. Merritt, remember that we’ve got the elemental who can swap in on flanking duty for you in case you need to heal yourself.

Merritt, remember that using a wand doesn’t provoke an AoO and that as long as you have the dagger in the other hand you still provide flanking!

”The forces of darkness and chaos are relentless,” Tseghet preaches, ”But so is the fire that burns in the hearts of each of Iomedae’s faithful! Do not falter, show no fear, and let Her strength guide your sword!” The half-orc conveniently doesn’t remember that none of his companions are currently holding swords.

Restarting Inspire Courage +1

”Again!” Tseghet extols, blessing the dwarf once more with Iomedae’s courage and skill.

Casting guidance on Torrak. Last round of lingering Inspire Courage - he’ll have to reboot it next round.

"Remember the teachings of the Inheritor!" Tseghet intones as he steps forward and lays a hand on Torrak's head. "Let the only mercy you show to the forces of evil be a swift death!"

Move and cast guidance on Torrak. Dropping performance and letting Lingering Performance continue the effect for one more round after this one.

”Now!” Tseghet bellows, words cutting through the sound of falling water like the swords of the faithful through the hordes of the Abyss. ”Strike swiftly and decisively - let us prolong this creature’s suffering not a moment longer!”

Begin Inspire Courage +1

Tseghet prepares to begin his sermon once more as Torrak and Zelphar take up their positions.

Tseghet's probably good to be near the rear unless we want him to provide flanking for Torrak. Or if Merritt wants to flank (he's probably got more defensive tricks than Tseghet), the half-orc can Aid Torrak's attacks.

”Unless your dolphins are magical, they will do little against the foul creature’s this skin,” Tseghet bemoans loudly. ”Iomedae’s blessing will help Torrak’s blade pierce through its defenses, but I fear I did not prepare myself to make that request again today.”

We did indeed use them - the plan now is to head back in while Tseghet’s buffs are still active and have Torrak flank with some elemental friends. Let’s do this!
