Still struggling with keeping the contents of her stomach down from the stench, Tresca joins Grim in his work doing what they could for the feverish men, pulling out her healer's kit as she does so.

The still coughing alchemist marvels as her wounds begin to fade in front of her eyes. It certainly was reassuring to have such an adept healer on the team. Grabbing a second bomb, she swiftly mixes it and throws.

Tresca gives a small shout as the ghoul's teeth find their way through the links in her armor. The shout quickly turns into a coughing fit as she catches a whiff of the creature's scent. Blinking her eyes furiously to clear the tears that were forming from the pain and the stench, she catches sight of the creature from her new position, grabs one of her bombs, and whips it at the ghoul angrily.

Tresca's hand immediately goes for her wand of enlarge person as she hears the sounds of fighting. As she rounds the corner, she realizes that the wand will do no good and instead goes for her alchemy kit. She had no good shot at the enemy for the moment, so she steels herself and tries to run past without getting bitten.

Setting her pack down beside the door, tresca digs around for a moment before pulling out her thieves' tools. "Let's save the loud way for plan 'B', eh Grim?" she comments as she unrolls the tools' case, glances appraisingly at the lock and selects her first tool.

Reaching back into her bag, the alchemist pulls out a sunrod, and lightly strikes it against the ground to light it before tucking it through her belt. She would be happy for the light on this tricky looking lock. Briefly, she presses an ear to the door to check if anything nasty waited on the other side, then sets to work.

"Ugggh... This brings back bad memories..." Tresca shudders as she recalls the last time she went in to the sewers. "Oronia, I'm decent at this sort of thing. I can take your pack for you if it would help you cross easier" she offers. Once her companion decides whether to let the half elf take her things, Tresca grabs the rope that Logain secured and makes her way across carefully.

Tresca can't help but laugh at her friend's reaction to the spell. "Any time, Grim. Any time!" she calls out. Surely things would be over soon with the weight of eight Grims behind that sword?

Tresca's hand strays to her bomb pouch, but with hesitation, she draws her crossbow instead. She didn't have so many bombs that she could afford to be wasting them. Bolts on the other hand... Running to the nearest Derro she could find, Tresca picks up one of the poisoned bolts and loads it into her crossbow.

"Oronia, how do these elementals fare against poisons?" she asks

Tresca winces as she watches Grim get hit. Even with her shiny new armor, the half elf is convinced that the blow would have killed her. Tucking her wand back through her belt, she pulls her usual bomb materials out of her alchemist's kit.

Swiftly mixing the chemicals together, she takes a moment to aim, then throws at the elemental, hoping that it wouldn't be able to shake off an explosion.

"You all right there, Grim?" Tresca calls out in shock and concern, "I'm going to try this new wand out. Tanselle, stand back!" Pulling her newly acquired wand from her hip, she activates it with a diagonal swish that ends at shoulder height. The end of the wand errupts in a glowing light that encircles the steadily growing Grim.

Tresca frowns at the inscription on the bell. Turning to Oronia, she gestures at the inscription on the bell. "I don't suppose you read whatever language that is?"

While Oronia completes her study of the bell, Tresca takes a free moment to mix up a quick extract. As she shakes the phial, she gives Logain a bit of a sideways look. "Do you hold all your colleagues in such high regard? Or is this sorceress a special case?" she asks with a frown. She desperately hopes that Tanselle and Grim would keep to themselves about Tresca's own tumble into sewage on an earlier mission.

Tresca pockets one of the holy symbols of Groteus from the druids, recalling that a holy symbol had been one of the many keys in their previous investigations of the cult. She never thought of herself as particularly favoured by Nethys in the first place, so she doubted holding on to another god's holy symbol would change much in that regard.

At the chapel, the Alchemist helps the others in their search, speaking in a hushed tone to the others as she does so. "In our previous dealings with the cult, we've encountered Mites. Small blue creatures, slaves that the Derro are fond of using as footsoldiers. We had success in turning them to our cause by offering their freedom, I would suggest we do the same here."

Tresca runs forward to join the others, stopping just shy of the brambles. Drawing a large phial from the pouch at her hip, she adds a second reagent, gives the phial a vigourous shake, and lobs it into the fray.

Terrible initiative roll! I'll wait to see what the enemies do before I decide what to do. I leave on Saturday for my trip, and won't likely be able to access the internet much for the first half week to week, but I'll leave behind tactics/dice blocks so that the team can puppet me as needed.

If the melee fighters can block the alley so that the enemy can't get out, a bomb would be particularly effective on them all clustered like that.

Today, I learned that splash weapons like my bombs are a ranged touch attack. Didn't read the rules carefully enough on my first time round, and now I like my choice of class even more!

"That's not even the best new thing I picked up!" Tresca says excitedly to Grim. Pulling out a shiny new wand, she waggles it at her giant of a friend, "I did a little bit of sweet talking, and our superiors agreed that a 14 foot tall Grim would be good for all of Andoran. Whaddya think?" Picking up the message addressed to the Andorans, she skims the message briefly before passing it along to Grim and Odo.

With a nod to Nefti's request to get moving, Tresca turns her attention to the two newest members of the team. With a slight bow, she introduces herself. "I'm Tresca Versei, our team's alchemist. My specialty is bombs, so I tend to provide ranged support for the front line fighters. I can do some healing in a pinch, as well. How about yourselves?"

Question for the new players:
Tresca fights using bombs, which have a splash radius that deals 5-6 damage depending on how close she is. I've got a class feature that lets me designate certain squares as safe from splash damage, but if I miss, there's a chance that splash damage will end up hitting you. Do you prefer to have me designate your square as safe, and take a risk? Or do you prefer me to not throw a bomb if there's any chance of damage?

(Odo and Grim, are you still cool with me going ahead and throwing?)

The only other bit of preparation was to slip on her newly purchased armor. Despite being mithral, the half-elf noted with a frown that it still felt heavy. After removing her wrist sheaths and stashing them in her bag, she moved her arms around and determined that she'd still be able to throw as normal. It would have to do for now.

Arriving at the office, Tresca was pleased to see that Odo, Tanselle and Grim also were summoned. She'd trust those three at her back any day. The other two, she gave a quick look over. The elf had more weapons and armor than Tresca thought she could possibly carry. Good company for Grim and Odo at the front, she imagined. As for the woman, Tresca caught herself thinking that this is what she would look like if she were fully human. She gave those two a smile and a polite nod. There would be time for introductions momentarily.

Once the Venture Captain finished speaking, Tresca turned her attention to the newly arrived Nefti. "What sort of numbers can we expect at the Swift? How many cultists are we talking here? Dozens? More?" She didn't want to encounter cultists. But it would be good to know how many there were if they needed to make a quick escape.

The closest thing I have to a murderhobo story is the time at convention where I played "Princess D&D" (trying to get girls interested in tabletop gaming, the DM has us take on the roles of princesses rescuing our prince).

In the opening narration, one of our princesses decided to stab her prince with a fork.

Also! Grim! I was thinking, Tresca should totally buy a wand of enlarge person to use on you. I'm keen on supplementing my ranged area-damage role with support spells, and I can think of few things as terrifyingly awesome as the ability to make Grim 14 feet tall. I could buy it now with a couple of prestige points, or I have to wait 1 more adventure to reach fame required to just purchase it with gold.

Looking at things this side of the enemies' turn, splash damage with the bomb would bring Odo down to 2 health, so I'd better not risk it. Odo would get splashed in 3 out of 8 possible places a missed bomb could land. Plan B!

Tresca reaches into her bag to pull out another bomb, but hesitates a moment. If she missed, she'd risk hitting Odo, and it didn't look like he could take too many more hits. Sliding her hand back out, she flicks her wrist, and catches her wand of cure light wounds as it springs out of its sheath. Gripping it tightly, she waits for an opportunity to get close enough to Odo to heal him.

Hey Odo, on my next turn, I can either toss a bomb to do some area damage, or hit a single guy with the crossbow. I can designate up to 4 squares as safe from my bombs' splash damage (6 points of damage at point blank range), but that doesn't count if I miss, which means there's a chance of doing some damage to my allies. Do you want me to try and do some area damage? Or would you rather I play it safe and not risk the chance of friendly fire?

Whoops! DM post went up while I was writing. Double post time for battle actions! Grim, I'm going to move my icon to your square, since I'm assuming you're moving in, and you move before me.

With a look of disgust, Tresca sets eyes on Dalirio. The sooner they could finish it, the better. "Oh, I'm trembling all right." Tresca responds, revealing a shaking hand mixing a bomb. It was a bit of a stretch, but worth a shot! Winding up, she throws as hard as she can at their enemy.

I'm gonna assume that missed. Time to figure out where it landed for splash damage! 3 range increments = 3 squares. For direction:

Tresca ditches her bag near the door, and pulls out her wand of shield. In a tone of mock offence, she exclaims "Mad? I'm not mad. More like... eccentric?" Tresca wasn't sure if that was actually any better. But it sounded classier, at least. "In any case, if they start to bottleneck at the door, you all may want to cover your ears."

As soon as Tanselle indicates that they are ready to breach the door, the 'mad bomber' gives her wand a wave and a glowing shield floats in front of her. She nods to the others, indicating that she's ready for battle.

Question for everybody:
This level, I got to take a discovery, and I took 'Precise Bombs'. It lets me designate up to 4 squares as safe from the splash zone when I chuck a bomb. But, if I miss with the bomb, the squares are no longer safe, and there's a chance (depending on where the bomb ends up landing) that you could be hit with splash damage (5 points of damage, or 6 if Tresca throws point blank. It's a flat rate, so no worries about Tresca pulling another 21 damage hit)

Are people comfortable with me using the bombs to hit groups of enemies in melee with our group? Or would we rather not risk the chance of splash damage?

Following the others, Tresca raises an eyebrow at the scimitar. For the life of her, she would never ever understand these melee types. "You're welcome to the sword. Tresca gives Grim a little smirk as she gets the lock opened. A woman of many talents indeed! Standing up, she walks a few feet away from the cage towards the direction that the half orcs came from. "Better not forget to post a lookout a second time, eh?" she mentions to the others. She keeps some attention on the conversation with the prisoners, but stays alert for any sounds that could indicate more trouble on the way.

Tresca mutters a few choice curse words under her breath as their group is spotted. They had forgotten to post a lookout. Why had had they forgotten to post a lookout? Wasting no time, Tresca slips a hand into her alchemist's pouch and pulls out a bomb.

Leaving Ka to care for the rescued captives, Tresca turns her attention to the mites, approaching slowly and with no weapons drawn. Reching into her pocket, she pulls out the sealed letter from her faction, and offers it to the mites. "Here," she tells them, speaking slowly to try and make herself better understood, "Will you take this to your leader for me?"

Tresca takes note of the fear in the prisoners' eyes Tanselle starts to question them. She shared her fellow half-elf's sense of urgency, but recognized that perhaps a gentler touch was needed. Or at least some explaination. "I'm sorry for our abruptness" she tells them...

Picking up her crossbow, she aims it at the doorway, ready to shoot if the slave driving creature emerges. To the mites, she shouts "Go! We'll cover you!"
