Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

I will have internet back on Wednesday.
Will try to post in gameplay then.

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

BQ, Tracy should actually be with the group getting the non-combatants out of the threat zone. Is that the back door?

Hey all, my personal life has kind of blown up in my face. I don't even feel up to going into detail beyond that.

Tracy has three social links with Aila. Bastian, will you please go ahead & apply those, either to reduce their stress or something else useful.

I'm not bowing out, but for the time being, consider Tracy will be focusing on getting the other 'mere mortals' to safety or something.

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

I know I have at least a couple social links with one of the 'wonder twins'
I will make a post when I get home today.

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

Two points: I'm wondering if people haven't posted in the last week because they don't want to step on a scene's toes, or is that just me...

Also, I find it somewhat amusing that my 'aggressive/assertive' action, the one I'm best at, at least, is in Kuudere; which seems primarily to concern matters of dry intellect/the social contract.
Whereas my receptive/perceptive action is in Tsundere; which seems primarily to concern passion/conflict.
And finally my 'manipulation' action is the one least fitted to actually manipulating people, in Moe, which concerns itself with personal-and-or-unconcealed truth...

Yes, I am amused by odd things...

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

"I DO miss the world itself." Tracy interjects, as if in her own reverie, unconscious of Takara & Niji's inherent threat.
Equally unconscious of that fact that, during Takara's revelation, Tracy's hand had slid across that table, as though to offer consolation.
"SO many wonders to be found..."
"Now I just wonder where they are..."
"If they are...

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

I'm guessing that family, with it's potential association with identity, is another no-no?

I.E. mentioning to Niji that they look a lot like their sib would likely be at least a minor transgression?

edit: Of course if that's the case, both Aila/Aina & Ao could be in trouble...

Second edit, unrelated: Between Confess & Forgive, which do you consider more inherent to Tracy?

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

No worries. At the moment I (and Tracy) are trying to handle multiple goals at one time in the conversation.

Cross your fingers.

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

So, two months or so at most?

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

Reminds me, I know this game started about ten years after the last one ended. How much time has passed since this game began?

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

"Different" Tracy replies, only a quicksilver flicker of her gaze from Salvia across both Niji & Takara then back to hint that her reply might be more substantive under circumstances with less...
judgmental
listeners.
"Of course," she adds, "I was only about your age when it, the awakening, happened*"
Turning to Takara, Tracy adds, "What do you recall most regarding then?"

*As per this post, Tracy actually still looks to be in her mid to late-teens.
She's twenty-six.

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

How old is Salvia?
At least how old does she appear?

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

Looking up from her 'conversation' with the two 'moral guardians', Tracy smiles slightly. "In the time before, in the USA, there was a phrase; 'Fake it 'til you make it'"
Shrugging slightly, she confesses, "It helps if you have survived chastisement from an Erohin in person. Little else can quite shake you at that point..."
Turning her attention back to her previous conversation partners, Tracy inclines her head to an empty chair as if in invitation.

BQ, remind me again how I would use Social link to help the person I have it with to reduce their stress?

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

What's particularly amusing for me playing Tracy these days, is that the very idea of vamping people to get them off their guard used to be quite foreign to her.
Back when she was a tom-boy she wouldn't have known a feminine wile if it up & bit her on the you-know-what.
I guess just the fact that she's now compelled to not just ignore, but actively suppress any possible trace of femininity gets her back just right up.
Which is most amusing because she still really doesn't see herself as a 'girly-girl'...

You have both Ao & I mentioned, so I am taking a chance on resisting...
Tsundere: 1d6 ⇒ 6

"Really now," Tracy chastens the two sticks-in-mud, "and you wonder why you remain a deputy..." Her gaze locks particularly with Niji-tan's. "You've made your point, though I can assure you, this one," her hand languidly flows towards the quite martially postured guitarist, "bears no taint of the adversary's touch. As Loki can attest, I have become uncomfortably well acquainted with the idiosyncrasies & dangers inherent."
"Come, sway me with your words."
She reaches out, clasping both Niji-tan & Takara about the shoulders before winsomely leading them back to their table, beaming coquettishly at them encouragingly once there.

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

This has been a trying week at work. I should have a gameplay post either tomorrow or this weekend.

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

As I am in the same scene as Ao, I could add a help die if I had a rating in Defy higher than zero?

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1
BastianQuinn wrote:
If your intent is to get more information, this way of doing it would be Confess or Empathize. You would have Standard effect, but a Risky position.

That reminds me, Blades in the Dark has the option to down-shift your position to up-shift your effect. I don't recall seeing that as an option in the materials I read of Girl by Moonlight, is it still allowable?

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

Hey, it happens.

The WotR PbP I was in imploded a bit before that point, so I can definitely comprehend posting rate ramping up.

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

One day.

One day, a mission will arrive where Tracy doesn't get side-tracked in the first scene.

Today is not that day.

*sighs*

If you push on an action that you have a rating of zero in, that means you wind up rolling just the one die, yes?

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

Damn.

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

Help 'cause Aila's awesome!: 1d6 ⇒ 4

BastianQuinn wrote:

Just making sure:

Tracy has rolled a 6 on a Defy roll to get the room dancing.

Separately, Aila is rolling Defy to perform a quick costume change in a Social Link with Tracy? Which would be something she would enjoy?

If that's the case, Tracy would lend Aila a die, and we would count the 4, meaning Tracy gets 3 Links with Aila.

Yes to all, except Flow rather than Defy. Tracy doesn't have Defy, but starting dancing when you hear that music seems about as natural as breathing to her. Sorry, just realized I wasn't clear before.

You are using words like 'meant' and 'intent' in reference to Tracy after you blindside me with over an hour of Spanish guitar music...?

Oh, you glorious fool!

Sure, let's go with that idea; it's not like she is lead by the heart on her sleeve or anything...

Incidentally, I just realized she wasn't dancing a tango, she was dancing a Tarantella...

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

Of course I don't recall correctly until too late to correct it, but the letter on Tracy's forehead should be an A, not an H.

Oh well, we'll just say it's for Harlot this time...

All the trouble...

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

Oh, you sweet summer child...

Head-canon since human peak ability in any action rating is two, I have concluded that human average is actually zero.
So having a rating above zero means above average.
That's my story & I'm sticking to it...
Flow: 1d6 ⇒ 6

Pursed lips quirking slightly at Aila's sotto vocce comment, Tracy is on the inhale, clearly about to respond, when the guitar chord kicks in.
You've never seen anyone go from seated to standing to all but floating across the floor... that fast.
The fact that somehow the crash of the chair on impact manages to be at the exact moment necessary to not bring it all to a screeching halt would, in any other circumstance, be the most amazing thing about this...
only now her hand is dancing across your wrist as she isn't done yet...

What follows is somewhere between a Conga line, flamenco & Parkour.
Yes, Tracy will drag everyone not actively resisting into the dance with her, over & around furniture, and eventually up to wherever the music is coming from.

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

Yes, Tracy intends to get into all the trouble tonight...

Immediately pre-LARP: Ostentatiously bowing the gathered Yokai through the gates to Perfection's Temple, Tracy takes advantage of the fact that she has as much talent for prevarication as a sea anemone does for interstellar flight. Though her lips remain closed, her expressions & eye contact make her opinions of the individual en-fleshed spirits plain, even challenging in some cases. Finally, as all pass beyond her sight, she sighs & ...

lets go...

Finding herself once more in that place that is no place, Tracy impishly embraces Petrichor before grabbing a brace (or three) cans of PBR from the fridge to slip into concealment within her work rucksack before pulling her hair out of it's habitual work ponytail & brushing it into something more closely resembling a sable waterfall.
"Don't wait up for me, but I promise when I get back there will be tales to tell."
With that, Tracy allows the gravity of existence to pull her back into Neo Jimazan's cloying, almost claustrophobic 'embrace'.

Now: The woman, (OMG! Yep, definitely a woman, her costume has cleavage even!) seated at the table has raven hair & an almost milk-pale complexion. Though honestly only 'feminine' rather than 'lush', her body's contours seem almost lewd to you, given the fact that she makes no effort to conceal or contort them to fit current mores. In truth, she seems to have taken advantage of the present circumstances to indulge in garments cut & styled to accentuate, rather than occlude.
Somehow she has acquired one of the only chairs in the tavern with a pivot, almost lazily turning around & around, one foot arched, ankle exposed, to gently kick off each time she comes to a stop. You get the impression she is observing you even as her gaze swings across the opposite end of the room. An almost aggressively white rucksack hangs from the back of the chair, you think you might have heard something within it clink. A blazingly red H is centered on her forehead.
Class: NPC/town strumpet

Salvia:

Class: NPC/Artisan (Smith)
Apparel: Loose, tan t-shirt, off-white (sweat-stained) bandana, tan hakama (soot-stained), heavy weight apron (considered light armor), black tabi, sandals
gear/weapon: Boffer-style Hammer
Backstory: You have trained under the finest weaponsmith in the land. If you can acquire the necessary materials, you can craft a weapon truly worthy of your talents & prove your mastery to your mentor.

Aila:
"Well, if you've the courage to come this far," she replies, eyeing you up & down assessingly if not unkindly "'twould be harsh payment indeed to send you off empty-handed."
"Have you a plan?"

So, little bit of back-track. When I asked if the LARP was an ongoing concern, one of the ideas I was playing with was that Tracy has an on-going diversion regarding the LARP because it is the one place she can 'get away' with gendered clothing & actions. She can get away with being a girl in the LARP since of course you have to have saucy wenches in an RPG.

The following is not directly related to the present game, hence spoiler-ed. Read only if you care about my thoughts/opinions regarding the game system/mechanics specifically, not the game we are currently playing.

Girl by Moonlight & Expectation Management:
So, after playing this season for a year, obsessively reading & re-reading the GbM rules-set and finally, having watched multiple examples of play on YouTube; I have come to a conclusion.

Girl by Moonlight, as presently written, is a GrimDark RPG.

All the setting sheets have pre-eminent values that are neutral at best, with the majority of values I might consider positive suborned to the 'hidden/secret/transgressive' category. Combine this with the fact that mission objectives rarely if ever elevate themselves beyond 'Keep things from getting worse' & there really doesn't seem to be much light in Girl by Moonlight.

Possibly I have an incorrect/insufficient understanding of the Magical Girl Genre, but this seems...
incongruous,
to me. I cannot tell if this is a bug or a feature. I comprehend that angst is a factor, but as it stands, depending on setting choice, I can definitely see myself in danger of my character asking themselves 'Are the bad guys Really that much worse?..'

Maybe I'm just old, but the world I deal with on a day-to-day basis has enough Dystopian elements lately, not certain I can handle this much in my escapism as well.
All that said, I am still enjoying myself.

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

So of course I come down with something friday...

I will try to post tonight.

Will our own yokai be present at the Social?

Every good show needs at least one heist episode, so I'm down for that certainly.

That said, BastianQuin, am I interpreting your words correctly that, technically, all of those potential missions would be taking place at/during the LARP/social?

On an unrelated note, if we are going to continue to have promises be a thing, I would second or possibly forward the motion that we see if we can't bring in at least one or two new players, else wise our promises will always & only be between the three of us...
that said, Tracy's impossible promise regarding Ao managed to be the key that finally unlocked my most recent creative block, so, yay!...

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

Empathize plus Help: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 3) = 8, think I'm going to pass on the Dark Bargain for the moment.
Looks like a five.

The, comparatively few, times Tracy manages to find herself in the 'clubhouse', it is fairly clear she is taking refuge from the world outside as much as she might be seeking a means to aid it. Invariably, she occupies even more of her time 'purifying' the orb & it's immediate surroundings, on multiple (not every time, sometimes she seems to find his adjustments almost a jazz note to be riffed off of) occasions sweeping Ao's rake tracks into a placid smoothness again. Those of you who note such things, notice when she does so, she always sweeps from the orb outward & that she takes an almost obsessive care to be certain the broom is completely without foreign contaminant beforehand.

Before long, she seems to have enlisted Petrichor's aid in furthering the work that Nobody started, occasionally nattering about simple things, (what she misses about life before Neo jimazan {mostly music & literature}, what she doesn't {mostly people}) but primarily what energy she isn't devoting to cleaning & organizing is devoted to listening, letting Petrichor lead the conversation where she will.

I really wanted to get a post in regarding Tracy's activities negotiating whatever passes for 'bureaucracy' in Neo Jimazan, but my creative juices seem to be at something of an ebb at the moment.

In what ways are you utterly failing at your job?

It's funny how I completely missed this aspect of how we were supposed to be interacting with 'mundane' reality...

Of course, in retrospect, it is painfully obvious how Tracy is failing at being a simple cleaning drudge, rather than quietly & all but invisibly 'making the problem go away', every time she does her job she makes certain (usually unconsciously) that people are aware of that something bad happened there it is still a place to be cautious of.

Hey Bastian? Is it possible to have an NPC as both a friend & an enemy? 'Cause a part of me suspects that Perfection occasionally has to flip a coin about how they feel about Tracy...

I'm taking advantage of the fact that I literally can't get out of my street to make it in to work to today to try & be creative & post here.

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

I won't say I'm not disappointed, but thank you for letting us know. I am glad you have found a place that fulfills you as this no longer seems to.

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

Just a reminder, Tracy's downtime actions are 'maintain the shrine', 'work on opening up the additional Hideout 'room' as lounge and kitchen, 'establish a Social Link, probably with Junpei or Ao'.

In the Hideout, Petrichor:

The, comparatively few, times Tracy manages to find herself in the 'clubhouse', it is fairly clear she is taking refuge from the world outside as much as she might be seeking a means to aid it. Invariably, she occupies even more of her time 'purifying' the orb & it's immediate surroundings, on multiple (not every time, sometimes she seems to find his adjustments almost a jazz note to be riffed off of) occasions sweeping Ao's rake tracks into a placid smoothness again. The second time Petrichor's journal is left so...
ostentatiously, Tracy picks it up, taking care to keep it closed as she does so before quietly padding over to Petrichor's 'nest'. Almost meditatively, she sits cross-legged just outside. Once Petrichor awakens, Tracy hands her the journal. "I've tried the last decade or so not to make assumptions or judgments about people, if you want or... need to talk about something, I can't promise I will know what to say, but I will listen."

Yes, this means she does in fact just sit there for several hours if Petrichor is really sleeping...

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

I have been having massive feels lately. Trying to get back into being productive at more than simply paycheck stuff.

Darn it, I had ideas...

I mean, I still have ideas, they just aren't as amusing for me personally, and will require more contemplating.

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

Is the LARP a consequence of the house arrest, or simply the most recent in an ongoing 'chronicle'?

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

Holy s#@%, it's been two months since I posted anything in-game...

Full Disclosure, while I am...

90%...

certain I don't have SAD, this is still an absolute s@%% time of year for me. Not aided in any meaningful way by the current interpersonal conflicts presently ongoing between myself, my ex, and our son.

I really was hoping to have an actual gameplay post today...

I am still going to aim for one by this weekend.

I'm just so tired of always being weary.

Moe: 2 ~ Tsundere: 1 ~ Kuudere: 1

If I am interpreting BastianQuin's post correctly, you get to define what the mission regarding Phil might be, Junpei; with the caveat that it will take place in/around the tavern scene while Conquest, Brilliance, and their respective entourages are occupied with their dungeon crawl. Which probably means that you (and possibly Chessa) will need to come up with a good excuse why you aren't accompanying them (Brilliance/Conquest)...
Fortunately, Chessa's team-building exercise idea probably qualifies,or at the least, you can spin it, possibly with help.

edit: My recommendation would be to see if you/we can't do something about Phil hurting...

Tracy? Are we going to use your extra action to reactivate the Shrine of Eyes?

Yes.

For my other downtime actions...

Well, a Lounge & Kitchen would be particularly helpful if we are going to host an indeterminate number of guests for an indefinite amount of time, so Tracy will help out on getting that room cleared out/up & running.

Finally...

I think I'm going to sit this next mission out. At least in terms of actually going out there. I will keep track of things & see if I can't come up with some useful flashback action so-to-speak.
So, with that in mind, I will work on some kind of Social Link, probably with either Junpei or Senshiro, although I suppose that might also reveal more of the mystery that is Nobody...

The short answer is that nothing not in the Girl by Moonlight rules set is necessary & the themes of the two are sufficiently different that I would almost recommend not reading Blades until and unless you have a firm grasp of what you want your game to be.
I have neither the time nor the energy to give you the long answer right now, as parent-teacher conferences were tonight and I am now exhausted.
