![]() We've updated the product page with the set list for the upcoming Pathfinder Battles–Mwangi Expanse release. We are still waiting on them to arrive, but once they do we will be shipping them out quickly. ![]()
![]() We sent out the following via email to subscribers, but wanted to post here as well for maximum coverage! For those waiting to hear about March digital subscriptions, we will be posting that thread next week. Last week, we announced that we would be holding PaizoCon 2022 as a smaller in-person event alongside the digital PaizoCon Online. We’ve scheduled PaizoCon for May 27-29, with organized play events running Monday, May 30th as well. PaizoCon will see the concurrent debut online and in physical space of Starfinder Society Year 5: Redemption’s Rise, as well as a new Starfinder Society Interactive Special. We hope you will join us at the event to see all the great adventures our Pathfinder and Starfinder Societies have in store. The timing of the convention means we are adjusting our digital subscription release dates in May. The two affected subscriptions are the Pathfinder Society subscription and the Starfinder Society subscription. Instead of releasing the last Wednesday of the month, May 25, we are holding the release until after their debut at PaizoCon. As a result, they will release June 1 and we will begin processing authorizations on May 31, 2022. ![]()
![]() We announced our plans for PaizoCon 2022 today on our blog. Here's a link to read the details or join in the discussion. For organized play GMs who want to volunteer to run games at either PaizoCon or PaizoCon Online, you can find more information in the Call to Vol blog. ![]()
![]() Dear Paizo community, We had two issues arise recently that we are working to fix. The first is that some February digital subs did not generate when we processed subscriptions on Wednesday. Our fabulous Tech team is working on the issue and our CS team is manually updating accounts. Thank you very much for your patience. The second issue involves the file download package for the Pathfinder One-Shot: Mark of the Mantis. Our Webstore/Tech teams are working to resolve the issue. We believe we have a fix and would ask anyone having an issue to clear their cache and try to download once more. If you get an error, try using the "problems downloading" link under the product name. If you continue to have issues, please email customer[dot]service@paizo.com so we can continue to investigate and resolve. Thank you all for your patience! ![]()
![]() We're looking at some forum restructuring to help support our staff and our community. We will be working on these changes over the next few months. The first change will be shutting down the Customer Service and Website Feedback forums and opening an Announcements channel on Jan 3rd. We've found that most of the threads started in the website feedback forums are also reported via email or are not website-related issues. To keep the staff from duplicating work, we want to handle all issues (including website feedback) through our ticketing system. This will help streamline our workflow and make sure we handle issues in the order submitted! ![]()

![]() Last night, while eating dinner, a gray robed acolyte brought you a message. Breaking the seal, you read the note. Sent from Venture-Captain Ambrus Valsin, he requested you meet in his office early in the morning, at six bells. You should come prepared to run an errand for the Society in Absalom. The next morning, you arrive at Valsin’s office. The door is open and he Is seated at his desk, a pile of papers to his right and a roll of scrolls to his left. Arrayed in front of the desk are chairs of varying heights and materials, interspersed with a few small tables. He gestures to a sideboard, laden with a respectable selection of cold cuts and cheeses, with baskets of bread and fruit alongside. Several pitchers, two of them steaming . Good morning! Ambrus boomed, his voice filling the room. Welcome to my office. Please come in! I took the liberty of having some breakfast on hand, as I thought the early hour may have prevente you from eating. Do help yourself and take a seat so we can get started! As you enter the room, you see several other Pathfinders have arrived to hear Ambrus’ greeting. Please take a moment to describe your arrival and introduce your character. ![]()

![]() 5-Nova Rubric So, I tried posting this about a week ago and it was eaten by the servers. Apologies on the delay getting it up, but PaizoCon has taken all of my focus. As a bit of history, over the past four years I’ve solicited opinions from a variety of groups on the subject of what a 5* means. More than 75% thought it should have a qualitive element, i.e. represent the quality of the GM, not just a quantitative element. Enough people thought it was needed that we started looking at ways we could objectively measure the quality of a GM. This becomes harder, as we looked at how other campaigns rated their GMs and sought a solution that was clear, represented the best practices we wanted in the Paizo organized play programs, and removed as much personal bias as possible. Thanks to Chris Marsh (edit) for providing a rubric that was the basis of what is listed below. Another piece of commentary involved friends completing observation games, or that they were hand waived by people that knew the GM. In the interest of making this a qualitative achievement, we proposed moving from one to three observation games. To keep this from being onerous for our less-populous areas, a GM may complete all three evaluations in one weekend, though no more than one evaluation per person may be done by any one Venture-Captain. If a GM has an evaluation that does not meet the required threshold, the process is frozen for six months, at which time the GM may try again. We encourage people to use creative solutions for these games and the GM should work with their local VO team to arrange games. To not overburden our Online VO crew, we are limiting physical GMs to one online evaluation. Regarding using the rubric – we agree with the commentary that by 100 games, GMs find their rhythm and form habits. Instead of waiting to your 145th game, as in Pathfinder, we propose the following rollout schedule:
*0-10 games – You’re getting your feet wet! Thanks for joining the GM Corps. *11-49 games – Use the rubric to get a feel for org play best practices. Consider having a fellow GM sit your table and give feedback. *50-99 games – Ask any Venture-Officers at your tables to do a rubric evaluation to give feedback as if it were an evaluation game. *100 games – Ask Venture-Captains to complete a formal evaluation. One’s score for a successful evaluation needs to be slightly higher than average, so at a minimum four catagories need a “meet expectations” and one category needs an “exceed expectations.” As we are looking for an overall average, you could also have one “does not meet expectations” as long as there were two “exceeds expectations” to balance out the metric. With those parameters in mind, here is the rubric. It is slated for publication in the Guide and available as a pdf for anyone who would like to view it electronically. Currently, it is available via dropbox link to preserve the formatting. Click here for a copy. ![]()

![]() Hi all! I've printed, signed, and stamped the outstanding charity boons from 2018 (and a couple of late reported 2017). Between snowstorms I delivered them to the local post office, so they should be winging their way to the recipients. If you're expecting a boon and your name is on the list, keep an eye out in the post. If your name is not on the list but you we're a winner of a charity boon, please contact the event organizer. If you attended Malted Meeple Extra Life or Palmetto Lodge Extra Life, there are issues with the information reported and I'm working to sort out the issue. Recipient List: Aberhart, G. Alho, E. ![]() This year, the Organized Play team decided to support Extra Life by releasing world-wide benefits to any convention running between now and November 12th, provided the monies raised from the charity component go to the Extra Life campaign. The benefits include:
*Access to the charity boons Hubris Coil (PFS), Lucky Knuckles (PFS), Manticore Starship (SFS), Skittermander (SFS). One boon from each program may be requested. Email organizedplay@paizo.com with the choices for your convention and for guidelines on how to report boon winners. *Purchasable d20 rerolls – you may pay $10 for an additional reroll and $1 to bump the result up 1. So for $30, you may have a guaranteed “20”. These rerolls are not limited to 1 per game and stack with rerolls from other sources. You still must choose to use a reroll before results are announced. If an event is already registered to Extra Life, please post your link via social media or on the Extra Life post in the Pathfinder Society forums. If an event wishes to take advantage of the benefits above and isn’t registered, either register a page or join up with Team Paizo. To register as part of Team Paizo, visit our Team Page and click join. If you don’t have any Extra Life events near you but you wish to donate, you can visit the team page and donate to any team member. ![]()
![]() I returned to the office on Tuesday and my first priority was to resolve the outstanding issues in North Carolina. While on the road, I’d had some conversations and communication with relevant parties, but I needed several uninterrupted hours to pull the edges together. To all involved, thank you for your patience while I was out of the office. Resolution of this issue takes several forms. First, we need to make some changes to the organizational structure of the involved area. Second, we need to make changes to the program in general, including new processes and standards. Third, we need the cooperation and support of members of the affected community in embracing these changes and moving forward. First, let’s talk about the structural changes, which are happening immediately. 1) We are reinstating Michal Eshleman to the role of Venture-Lieutenant working with Venture-Captain Landon Hatfield. Michael will oversee operations at Atomic Games. There is a pending application for Venture-Agent of Atomic that is being processed by David Shaw.
Next, let’s talk about the changes to Paizo organized play in general. 1) We have reiterated to all RVCs that the NDA only applies to Paizo business operations, not to individuals or their experiences.
Finally, let’s talk about what we need from you and the rest of the community. I ask that we all come together to heal the region and the program and work toward making organized play what we want it to be: the best living campaign in the world! Disciplinary actions are being taken as appropriate, but we do not and will not discuss these actions publicly. We remain dedicated to open dialog with our players and volunteers. We encourage anyone who has an issue to report it to their next highest Venture-Officer. Alternatively

![]() At PaizoCon 2018, we debuted the Concordance faction pin from Campaign Coins.
Once per session, while wearing a faction pin matching your character's faction, you may add 1 to any skill check. If you apply this benefit to one of your faction's favored skills, listed below, you instead roll 1d4 and add the result. For this roll you also treat the faction's favored skill as if you were trained, even if you don't have a rank in it.
