My apologies for the delay. Personal matters have arisen and I'm needing to focus my attention so I'm going to back out of the game. I hope it goes well.

Please bot me for the time being. My internet had been down for the past couple of days and continues to be so. We’re waiting to hear from Charter on when this will be resolved.

Willow takes the moment to fly up and join Desseer.

"The size of the opening is not an issue, I can slip through without much issue in my gaseous form."

Viewing the opening, they decide to take the time to investigate the opening with detect magic.

Spellcraft - If needed: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (7) + 22 = 29

Willow will start to move closer to the construct, looking for a way in.

"Have you see any kind of opening? I may be able to slip through using my innate gaseous form?"

Seeing the others tend to Fyr, Willow continues their search of the area.

Once Desseer ascends to the top of the crab, they inquire, "Anything of interest?"

"Hello Zhang, did you did you find a way to access this engine? Perhaps I can think something up upon further investigation?"

Willow looks to Fyr with a look of curiosity. "Why are you cutting yourself?"

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (3) + 25 = 28

(Being undead, does Willow need to worry about the save? Did not seem like, but wanted to confirm.)

Willow moves with the others, nodding their thanks to So'ren for the buff.

Noting Desseer's warning to the living, Willow will start to quickly search the ground around the area in a grid like pattern.

(Current movement speed is 80 with haste. Perception is +25)

Perception: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (7) + 25 = 32

Apologies for the short post. Been dealing with some stuff. I'm aiming to work on getting some more of my character done this weekend as well.

Willow's eyes go wide at the announcement, more out of reflex then actual emotion. Intently they listen to what the others say before responding, "I am ready to go when you are Desseer."

Willow would raise a delicate looking hand to cradle their chin between their pointer finger and thumb as a thoughtful expression comes upon their face. "I would agree with your sentiment to an extent. If they are not back by nightfall, we can send out some of my more immediate subordinates to search for them since I can check in with them as long as they remain upon this plane of existence. Just in case, I can also make sure they turn back with plenty of time to return before sunrise."

Turning their gaze back Desser, they raise an inquiry. "Would you agree? Otherwise, I am ready to set out when you and So'ren are."

Willow listens intently and starts to respond before finding themselves lifted from their feet in a tight hug. They found it odd that they were not repulsed at first sight of the being holding them aloft, but something seemed changed within their mind and quickly they came to realize it was a fellow guild mate.

Wrapping the drider in their own arms, he greets them. "Welcome back Fyr. It is truly lovely to see you, though I wish it was under better circumstances."

After reclaiming their footing, they turn to Desseer and respond properly. "I would be happy to assist. With our abilities I do believe we can quite adeptly deal with any situation that comes our way. You mentioned that Galah'ad and Myriana have not returned. Have you heard any reason for why?"

One of Willow's enslaved vampires has been acting as a means of communication as she can communicate with them telepathically, but it's not a constant effort and requires concentration.

After receiving the update, Willow makes their way back as quickly as they can. Upon making it back to the castle, they take a moment to catch up with their minion and find out Desseer's current location.

Quickly they navigate the castle, knowing it fondly from the many years spent within it through a more virtual sense.

"Desser, I have returned. As my underling mentioned, the obelisks were the most interesting landmark. The rest was fairly mundane. What was it that you thought might garner my interest?"

Willow will take the time to make one final report about the obelisks. "These obelisks seem to be set in a pattern with the four smaller obelisks representing the cardinal directions. Unfortunately with the running water I am at some what of a standstill for investigating them further. I would suggest we assign some others to explore the structure. For now, I'm going to work on returning home," they state. After giving their minion time to report to Desseer and confirm no further requests were made, Willow will work on expediently making their way back.

There was little in the Yggdrasil world that unnerved Willow, but running water was one of them. Tobias would laugh in his head at the odd sentiment. Running water was normally a luxury to people in the real world, but here it could mean his demise.

After safely landing and transforming back into their normal form, Willow would reach back out to his minion to have it relay his findings to Desseer.

"After taking a closer look at the obelisk, it has become clear that their is some kind of conjuration magic at play upon it and four others that are surrounding it." Turning their eyes to the sun and then the obelisks once more, he takes the time to consider whether the smaller obelisks are heading in the four cardinal directions from the main obelisk.

Willow takes the time to inspect the obelisk from afar. The water appeared to be flowing out from cracks within it's structure, but they were curious if there were any openings large enough for them to explore.

Eventually, after confirming no one was nearby, they would transform into a bat and fly towards the construction to inspect it closer up.

Sorry for the delay, been getting caught up on things outside the game. I'll have a post up tonight.

I'm good with Mythic.

As for the obelisk, I'm deciding how to approach it. I'll likely have Willow check back in once more through their minion as well.

My apologies for the delay. Got back in from Gen Con yesterday and wound up sleeping most of the day away. I'll be working on getting caught back up today.

Willow would step out of the room and start away towards the quarters of their subordinates. It was true that they could have simply relayed their thoughts to their spawn through telepathy, but the ability put them at risk and that was not something they wanted.

Not to mention that they needed a moment to think. They took their time getting to their subordinates while testing some of their powers that were not limited to daily uses. The verbal components and gestures for spells seemed to come to the mind at will. The shifting into a gaseous form or dire bat requiring a show of will.

They shuddered as their bodied altered through forms initially, but quickly grew use to it. Their mind seemingly less effected by shifting bones, skin, muscles, and organs.

Upon meeting with their subordinates, they would quickly dispense commands. The alchemist would go to Desseer to relay their findings as they were communicated telepathicly. Elvira the witch would check on her hex and start renewing it if necessary. The cleric would stay with Willow's bodyguard to alert them of danger.

Finally, Willow would slip out of the building and start making their way West. Every two kilometers finding a safe haven to take refuge in for a moment while relaying their findings to Desseer through their alchemist spawn. Grim, Willow's familiar, would keep an eye out during this process to help ensure nothing would try to make an easy meal of it's master.

At the first check in point, Willow would relay the bare grasslands and plains leading into meadows.

At the second and third check in, they would explain that the meadows continue.

Finally at the fourth check in, they would reveal they had found an obelisk covered in runes which seemed to endlessly pour forth water which fed the streams supporting the meadows.

I'm going to try to make a post each day, but I'll be heading up to Gen Con Wednesday and not returning home until Sunday. This may mean a delay in my posts and character development. I hope that is okay.

Willow's heart would start to race. Not only from the revelation of the fact they may now be in the world of a game, but because it appeared that they had taken on the characteristics of his character.

Giving a nod of their head to Desseer, they would listen quietly while slipping their ring back onto their finger. They would need to be more careful until they knew more of what was going on.

"I can fly, but I move faster upon the ground. I have little fear of being mistaken as a monster, so I can approach any local residents we may come across," they would say. They would raise one arm to cup their chin, it's elbow nested into the hand of the other arm.

"I will head out to the West of the building after reaching out to my direct subordinates. It may be worth having Elvira update her hex to help alter the apparel of our home," they would say while tapping their chin gracefully with their exquisitely kept nail. "Is their a particular look you would like for our home Desseer? Her illusion should be able to cover about a 14,400 squared meter area."

(One of the subordinates I'm creating, the vampire witch Elvira will have the Hidden Home hex. As long as the facility is within a 200 x 200 ft area, she will be able to alter it's looks per the hex.)

I'm a little confused when it comes to cohort and follower creation. I saw the following in the Discussion thread before:

GM Wolf wrote:

The NPCs are going roughly by the stats of your creation.

5d6 - lowest roll (7 times)
Background skills
No Tax Feats
Etc.

They can even gain the PC bonuses of a long background story.

I can make them but need guidance and a personality would be great addition before I start. Also a brief 3 paragraph Background story.

I created Inennarra as a doppelganger 5/ Rogue 5. Using marginally the leadership rules. Basically all the normal build but 5th instead of 7th. 2 main NPCs max for your cohorts. Four 3rd level cohorts, Eight 1st levelevel cohorts, then your followers, which is basically the wait staff on the guild hall.

Anyone want a half dragon monk powerhouse as an NPc?

I've now noted the following here:

GM Wolf wrote:

You can either do the advanced stat array or roll 4d6-lowest roll.

Advanced template: Rebuild Rules: AC increase natural armor by +2; Ability Scores +4 to all ability scores (except Int scores of 2 or less).
Advanced stat array: 16, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8

So after advanced template: 20, 18, 17, 14, 12

You can add another template but that takes equal amount away from levels. 5th level cohort with a CR 2 template = 3rd level cohort.

The prior made me believe that the cohort could be built with a CR 2 Template and Gestalt level 5. Is that not the case?

Are we moving away from using the 5d6 - drop lowest (7 times)?

I want to make sure I'm making my cohort and followers correctly when I get to them.

Willow is unsure of what Desseer is referring to at first, before they remember the ring upon their finger. Unsure of what is going on, they move forward with a nod into what they assume is the range of Desseer's spell. While doing so, they nonchalantly place their arms behind their back as if to hold them there. While that is part of the intent, they remove the ring from their finger before clasping their hands together. The ring safely between their hands.

Now aware of the intent of the spell, they allow the spell to take effect while focusing their thoughts on Desseer.

I certainly hope you find something from this Desseer.

Willow nods to Desseer as they make their request, already taking the request to heart by not responding verbally. Being unaware of Desseer's intent, Willow does nothing to lower their own defenses.

The spell in regards to Willow simply seems to fail.

Willow has a Ring of Mind Shielding that prevents the spell from working upon them, just to explain the situation.

Willow watches on in hopes that their guild leader will reveal something about the current situation that would help make sense of it.

Willow enters into the dining hall. Their normally graceful step off. Something was clearly agitating one of the more human looking members of the guild. Despite this, their otherworldly beauty was generally only able to be explained away because of their angelic heritage. A heritage which had been a detriment growing up, but that now served to help hide their vampiric nature.

Distracted, Willow starts to speak, "My apologies for not showing up early. I felt I owed my subordinates one final briefing, but came to find that the server did not restar..."

The words would suddenly stop as Willow comes to watch the interaction between Bragus and the NPC Inennarra.

Suddenly the moments leading up to this situation started to be painted in color. Their subordinates had been acting differently...almost alive.

What was it that earlier prompt had said? they thinks to themself. Something about choosing your gender? he had absent-mindedly chose non-binary as he had during the initial creation of his character. Letting the prompt go as a simple system error as the system was shutting down, but now they were starting to see it in a different light.

Eyes wide, they simply and quietly ask, "What is going on here...?"
