(in no particular order, more or less off the top of my head)

Weights: There aren't really any large races to start our guesses off of. Ogres are said to be, on average, 650 lbs. The trox are similarly big and burly, so that might be a start.

Ages: Why not have a race that ages fairly fast, for once? A race that never grows old enough to rebel (of course, that failed - but it was the idea behind it), and is always curious because everything is always new. Something like:

adulthood in 5 years, middle aged in 11, old at 17, venerable at 25, max age 25+2d6

Long lived enough to not have to deal too much with aging and death in the middle of an adventure arc (and if the aging is an issue - maybe they never really grow old? They take a penalty once at 15ish - or just none at all - and then die at 25+2d6. Why breed a slave race which deteriorates slowly over time [and gets smarter!]? You want them up and running as normal right until they hit the expiration date), but short enough that they experience life differently (and generational play might be a major factor for long adventures).

Height: I'd put them as tall as a large creature might be expected to be, to emphasize just how burly and scary they are (and add more fun when walking around little people houses). They might have been made to walk on all fours in smaller tunnels, a behavior they probably try to avoid on the surface.

Relative: The appearance, the strength, the clans, and the burrowing sort of suggest some kind of giant cave ant as their long lost relative to me. Looks like they have a tail, so either the ancestor was a very bizarre ant (it's the darklands, though, so that's not too surprising) - or maybe there was some weird creature splicing involved.

Colors: Duergar hate cheer, so they're probably pretty drab and utilitarian greyish red, greyish blue, greyish green, greyish tan. Whatever got the job done. To follow that, perhaps bright colorations (a genetic rarity) are revered among some groups, due to how much they...

The Alien origin is rather boring to me so here are some of my ideas based on Damir's initial concept.

Weight:
I agree on the weight concept roughly though perhaps somewhat lighter as chitin can be surprisingly lightweight so perhaps a max weight of 650 for anything barring a Trox Bloatmage(Shudders).

Ages: I'm of two minds on this, on the one hand a short-lived race makes some sense from a slaver perspective especially if they are working them to death. However the ranges proposed are nearly goblin short. And without magic aiding their growth they would need to eat almost constantly during their growth phase to reach the size they do in such a short time. So perhaps double the initial range.
Mature: 10 middle aged: 22 old: 34 venerable:50 max: 50+2d6(or 4d6)
My other idea being they are biologically immortal(like the myth about lobsters) but are also hard-wired so they gain no age benefits due to their memory dulling beyond a certain point or something.

Relative: I think the closest guess I could make for them if bred by the Duergar would be. Orc(or Ogre) mixed with antlion or giant antlion.
For those that don't know This is an Antlion and ThisThis is why they scared the crap out of me in old D&D manuals.

Other than that I agree on most points although as an added point given how far the art for Trox shows the back plates extending I imagine they could be used for communication and threat displays if they clack them together. So yes the giant pincer toothed monster can also probably make noises that sound like the worlds biggest meanest Rattler. Given their tremorsense this sounds especially likely and may even be how they secretly communicate and sing while slaving under the Deurgar.

My new work schedule will require I work until 3 on weekends so I won't be able to start until after that point.

Diphycue I love that idea, and would love to have an engineer-wizard in the group.

Tired Dude I would allow a Grippli, although in going with you suggestion I would prefer you have a partner that you can rely on and who helps smooth out misunderstandings. Also I will pm you my skype name and you can talk to me on there if you wish.

Also I have been GMing for about 5 years now and I strongly favor Roleplay, my games tend to be more cinematic when it comes to combat and I focus on story and reward creativity.

Harper101 We will stick to Varisia so you my have to tweak it around that.

Still have openings though.

I'm back in it I guess. However I was thinking of going back to a modified kingmaker River Kingdoms section. Let me know what you guys think.

I'll be closing this thread however, I have messaged those that have contacted me about this game.

So someone who hunts down those who oppose art and expression?

Alrighty give me the story you think best sells the character. We will be starting around Sandpoint.

I and EST or UTC-5. Time of day either early 10 AM my time or late at 7 PM or so depending on the schedules involved.

Alrighty Let's do this.
I'm looking for a handful(4 max) of interested players to build a kingdom in Varisia.

I'm looking for interesting stories and character concepts. Over-the-top fantastic characters are welcome.
Send me your mad engineers and your ambitious do-gooders, send me your cynical schemers and arcane explorers.

I won't explain any character creation stats beyond acceptable race and classes until I've OK'ed a concept.

Races Allowed: Anything logically and reasonably drawn from the Varisian area. Player level races unless you convince me you should get something more powerful.

Classes Allowed: If it's on the Paizo PRD it's valid.

Here's the deal, give me a concept that hooks me and makes me excited to see you and your compatriots work together to build a nation.

Roll20 games will be on sunday and we will chatter throughout the week in forums as needed.

Feel free to work your concepts together.

I know this is probably long dead but there is another point to consider. The Nomen Heights already feed a major river system and is home to at least one dragon. There could be environmental repercussions as well as intelligent beings claiming a water toll, on the flip side this could be turned to an advantage in the right hands.

Male Kobold (reincarnated as) Human level 6 DungeonMaster/Level 2 Munchkin

The night is cool and relaxing, in the morning it isn't difficult with the help of everyone to move the supplies and scraps to the new structure.

Male Kobold (reincarnated as) Human level 6 DungeonMaster/Level 2 Munchkin

Good luck to you man, sorry for the problems.

Male Kobold (reincarnated as) Human level 6 DungeonMaster/Level 2 Munchkin

yes you have time.
Amira is unconfident in your location and needs to survey the nearby rooms to learn more.

Male Kobold (reincarnated as) Human level 6 DungeonMaster/Level 2 Munchkin

The handful of remaining mites flee the battle as Thaleles, Geoffrey and Toritaka wipe out the remaining foes.

Male Kobold (reincarnated as) Human level 6 DungeonMaster/Level 2 Munchkin

I will post to move things along tomorrow sorry for the delay.

Male Kobold (reincarnated as) Human level 6 DungeonMaster/Level 2 Munchkin

Alright so I've been cutting back on some projects lately and I want to let you guys know that is not the case here. I hate being slow to post here but life has been slamming me. I will work to return to a normal posting schedule as soon as I can.

Male Kobold (reincarnated as) Human level 6 DungeonMaster/Level 2 Munchkin

The group is able to make it's way down the mountain. The path to the first of the ruined structures is easily found. The solid stone of the building provides firm shelter from the elements. The halls and doors are somewhat narrow and high for a human but only slightly so. The first structure found is a circular dome with several rings most of which have a door or are collapsed open.

Male Kobold (reincarnated as) Human level 6 DungeonMaster/Level 2 Munchkin

Alright I will reflect that in game.

Male Kobold (reincarnated as) Human level 6 DungeonMaster/Level 2 Munchkin

Alright I'm going to have to call time of death on this game. I have been struggling to balance work and game lately. I have decided to cut back on projects and this is one I am going to have to shutdown. I am sorry for those of you still invested in this game but it feels as though we have lost momentum and I have to narrow my focus to the projects I can handle.

Male Kobold (reincarnated as) Human level 6 DungeonMaster/Level 2 Munchkin

I have thought about this quite a bit and I think I'm going to have to step back from this project. I don't mind being a sounding board for ideas but I have to cut back on some of my projects due to work mostly. I apologize for the inconvenience. I really love this project, but I think it has enough dedicate people to keep it alive and I have to pare down what I can focus on. Please feel free to ask my opinion or ideas, but I will be stepping away as any leading roll. GM Choon you clearly have a strong hand in this project and I feel I can trust you to continue the fun for everyone.

Male Kobold (reincarnated as) Human level 6 DungeonMaster/Level 2 Munchkin

Alright what does the party want to do next. I need a little more initiative from you guys if we are going to keep this game going. I know I have been in and out but I think a part of the problem with this game is you are waiting for me to push forward the action and I'm waiting for you to take the initiative.

I am screwed this weekend do to what will soon be a laptop without power. I will try to retrieve my power cable tomorrow, however I will most likely only be able to get it back on Monday. I my sound curt and short with this however this is due to my efforts to rein in my monumental frustration and anger.

I think me and #33 are close to starting recruitment. If he and I can settle on a timeline. I will post our timeline when it's done and then we can start looking at kingdom concepts.

To answer DFsearles, I think we might go for a standard dice roll, and perhaps allow build points to be spent on 'exceptional leaders' and maybe allow points to be earned back with something like 'Skeleton crew'

Cilian Knowledge Local, or a social check i.e. intimidate/diplomacy/bluff, different choices will get different reactions

There are several in town who console Byron for his loss and ask him how they can help.

The opposite of wrath is different from person to person ut something along the lines of calm and compassion.

Spellcraft 15+:
These appear to be ancient mutagens similar to those the alchemists use.

Upon searching for the wizards spell book you discover he has used scarification to place the formulas for his spells on his body, hidden under clothing. A few spells are damaged due to combat but the majority of the spell list can be transcribed. Many of the spells are far beyond the abilities of the party at the moment but they can be copied over. It appears none of the Thassilonian spells were recorded this way however, those spells must be hidden elsewhere in his notes or affects.
spell list:

4th—
dimension door, Dimensional Anchor
3rd—
haste, stinking cloud, Arcane Sight
2nd—invisibility, minor image, Alter self
1st—grease, mage armor, magic missile

Knowledge Local 15/Knowledge Architecture 20:
This room is deep in the ancient structures beneath the sewers of Magnimar. The route to the surface would be confusing and misleading if one didn't know this, but it is not a particularly long trek.

Same here to a degree my new job is taking a toll. Sorry for the slow posting.

Male Kobold (reincarnated as) Human level 6 DungeonMaster/Level 2 Munchkin

Thaleles lays low another Mite as does Toritaka. Geoffrey snaps at a mite leaving nothing but a pair of blue stumps rising out a tattered boots.
The Kobolds stab at the mites as well while moving to protect Toritaka and Thaleles.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Attack 2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
The first lands a hit again, while the second can't seem to find a mark.
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Slaying another mite.

The wave of mites seems to abate as the staggering losses begin to affect their morale. Yet several remain in range and attack.
to hit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
to hit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
to hit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
All three land hits two on the kobolds and one on Toritaka.
damage kobold: 1d6 ⇒ 2
damage kobold: 1d6 ⇒ 1
damage Toritaka: 1d6 ⇒ 4

This is true and we are working on how to hash out the mechanics for character creation among a few other things. I expect #33 or I will be posting updates pretty regularly on here.

Well since you have the maps, if you can pick one that you think would be solid we can work from there. Also if you want to move the discussion into PM's I have some ideas/questions on the setting and background we want to set up ahead of time. I have learned that a setting or game like this is much more satisfying if you have a history that makes sense and that the players can draw from.

Male Kobold (reincarnated as) Human level 6 DungeonMaster/Level 2 Munchkin

Choon and Feral:
I was interested in running it so if you two want to send me your notes I will dive into them and get any background I need, just let me know when to open it up.

I think that would work better too plus it would let us set the theme and set up of the world better.

I might be able to collaborate with this I've run Kingmaker and Dawn of Worlds games. I think something like that could be a great deal of fun. Do you have a world map in mind? Preferably blank as far as names and titles.
Also question one of many I'm sure,
Do we want to progress through ages or assume a default starting time.
I could really get into this.

Oh haha I had misread it as a Numeria game, my mistake. I am still interested.

so roll for stats or point build? and 1st level I assume?

Supers as in Capes. Villains and Masterminds Vs. Paragons and Heroes.
Spider-Man, Iron-Man, SuperMan, etc. Although something over the top or non-fantasy themed could still be fun.

Very interested. How much would we be able to dig into the 'science-sorcerers'?

Yes of the Transmutation School.

The notes indicate that with the sinwell destroyed, the area will likely go through a period of opposite compensation and then normalize.

Male Kobold (reincarnated as) Human level 6 DungeonMaster/Level 2 Munchkin

lol
The wave of Mites finally come into range of the kobolds and Geoffrey. Five attack outright.
to hit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
to hit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
to hit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
to hit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
to hit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
One mite hits Geoffrey and two strike the kobolds
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6 Geoffrey
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3 Kobold 1
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2 Kobold 2

Hi, I run several games but I don't play in many here, does anyone have anything Supers related I can sink my teeth into gamewise?

"Just about clear on the other side of the world. It'd probably take a year or so to ride there even if you took no stops."

First off Fantastic Roleplay, makes running games worth it for scenes like this. Secondly Ding! for all involved.

As the group inspects the room while preparing to leave and gathering evidence of the killers to present to the city. You find several items of interest, aside from the various loot recovered.

Loot:

Coins 52 pp, 433 gp, 69 sp, 170 cp
Gems DC 10 Appraise
Agate (10 gp)
Alabaster (9 gp)
Chrysoprase (50 gp)
Rock Quartz (10 gp)

Masterwork Items
Masterwork Chainmail
Masterwork Heavy Wooden Shield
Masterwork Longsword
Masterwork Shortbow
Magic Items Detect Magic and spellcraft or Appraise DC 10
Potion of Guidance (cr, 25 gp)
Potion of Remove Fear (cr, 50 gp)
Scroll of Ventriloquism (cr, 25 gp)
Wand of Mage Hand (cr, 375 gp)

You also find the notes on how the bartender was using ritual magic to force a wrath enchantment on the district, A map of Varisia with several markers on it bearing symbols denoting different Sin Disciplines. I'll post that later Notes referencing the map.
Lastly in a small box tucked into a corner are three ancient glass vials containing an opalescent liquid.

Knowledge History:
There were rumors that the Runelords had a method to use their sinwells for transportation however the method was only known to the Runelords themselves and was known to greatly drawn the power of the well on both sides. This well must have been so low on power that using that method destroyed it. Which is both good and bad as Alaznist can't use it to return but neither can you use it to follow or track.

"In answer to the tall one's question, not many danger between and the Ashok, except for wildlife. Depends on the locals though. The Ashok are distant and don't get angry but they don't think like others so they are just as likely to kill an annoyance as teleport it away. There's the Red Men, look like the tall one but red, the Shobhad-neh, big four armed savages, the Red Lizards, like Red Men but scaly and stick to the desert. Then there's the best race on Akiton the Ysoki, my people. I come from the Hivemarket, the greatest trade city in the world."
Indeed that is my assumption

Upon closer inspection the silver panel on the far side of the illusion is solid and unyielding. Furthermore the crows nest of the illusory ship is identical in shape and size to No'Bu's trinket.

I'm not trying to drag this out, aside from this last clue you can safely assume this is a puzzle to figure out over time
