I'm afraid the info on Kal'rin's chronicle aren't quite correct. I played an additional scenario prier to us tarting this one (due to the delay). I posted an update but I think maybe it got missed.

Would you mind re-doing the sheet for me? Sorry, I hope it's not too much trouble.

Just need to bump the starting XP by 1 and the starting fame by 2.

"I am convinced. I think more good will come from turning Mengian over to Fayetta, as you say. I will lend my voice to yours to convince Fayetta to leave the starfinders out of this."

To the others they mentally broadcast their thoughts.

"I agree we should turn this Mengian over to the authorities. In this case that may mean Eoxians and a terrible fate, but that is the law."

Did you update the map? Green is still on there, but I shall bravely ignore it!

T'laka moves to get a better shot on blue and pulls the trigger. He sends Kal'rin a telepathic message, hoping it can pierce the veil of his unconsciousness

T'laka drops their battery, and moves back to get a clear line on the enemy, drawing their dart rifle as they go.

Listening to Baroleg's exhortation, they level the rifle and fire

T'laka grasps the battery they are holding tightly, and through some strange process even they don't understand, draw the energy out of it into themselves. They they concentrate on the sarcesian Tofana hit and shoot two missiles of force at them.

Move action energize spell, standard cast magic missile

Magic Missile: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (2, 2) + 2 = 6

Out of spell energy, T'laka hits upon an idea, and takes a fully charged battery out of their pack. Still holding it, they move to take cover and get a better view of the battle.

"Oh no, combat, aaah!"

T'laka looks panicked and unsure what to do, but they settle on activating their spell cache and targeting Mengian with three magic missiles.

"We do not wish for a slaughter. We are peaceful, and this can end peacefully for all of us! Put down your weapons and have your allies come out and do the same and this can end without bloodshed!"

T'laka shouts this in their raspy voice.

T'laka listens intently.

They hate speaking out loud, but must do so in this case. In a rattling, scraping voice they they

"Where are these Wings of Daimiar now? What are their plans?"

T'laka huffs and puffs alongside the others during the climb. Even telepathy seems like too much effort for them, unaccustomed as they obviously are to this level of physical effort.

Their world recedes to the next step, and the one after that, and any sign more subtle than a gun going off would escape their notice

T'laka needs a second to recover, not from getting shot but from the workout moving through the canyon.

"I'm ... fine ... just need .. a second"

After some ragged breaths, they're ready to continue.

"Let's go see this Fayetta and tell them what we think about getting shot at"

T'laka says to Sully

"Good shooting! Lets get to their high ground, I'll feel safer there I think"

they will then spend the time to meet up with the others by the snipers, pushing another dart into their rifle on the way.

"A Trap Baroleg? What is the nature of this trap? This hive could work together to disarm it"

Would it be engineering to disarm the trap?

T'laka feels their innate magic waning, and lacking any way to help takes a pot shot.

It looks like ranged weapons go up to 10 range increments max, so I can take a shot and hope for a 20!

Take cover and cast spell

T'laka doesn't want to use all of their spells so takes a minute to recover their breath and takes out their own rifle. They look down the barrel of their rifle to spot for Sully.

I'll pass to see if Sully can kill this thing without using my last spell

"Oh great shooting both of you!"

T'laka then repeats their action and supercharges Sully's rifle for a second time and takes cover, trying to stay as low as possible in the moon dust, absolutely terrified of being hit.

T'laka is used to working closely with a team, and to staying in contact via telepathy. Their initial reaction to run for cover has left them alone, unable to hear anyone through anything warmer than a radio.

They do an about face and make a dash for the snipers.

"AaaaaAAaaaaaaa!"

Double move to Sully and Tofana, then drop prone. They've got a weapon supercharge for someone next round!

"SNIPER!"

T'laka moves to take cover behind the nearest slate wall, then chances a look out to see if they can spot the sniper

With all the adrenaline though they can barely see the rocks up ahead

"Perhaps they are close to uncovering something here?"

T'laka casts detect magic before they leave to try to understand what might need protecting, but then is willing to return.

Hearing Baròleg's call T'laka goes to investigate the excavators.

Engineering: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

"What do we have here? Hmm? You've been sabotaged haven't you?"

They make clacking noises as they talk to themselves and the excavator absently, ocassionally looking up to peer at the horizon in search of this storm Yis has warned them about.

T'laka comes to look at the rock too.

"Strange colouration, isn't it? It seems almost out of place"

If this is to related to strange new worlds or features of space they treat the DC as five lower

"It seems this all started when they began poking around a new dig site. I wonder what they unearthed. I agree we should check it out, but let's be on our guard."

Tlaka talks to people about their work, mostly responding with a series of "Uhuh. Uhuh". While they're doing so, they move over to a computer terminal and log-in.

Before they leave, T'laka stops to ask Kopos, Rayburn and Whipstitch some questions about their work.

"I am something of scholar myself, what can you tell me of your excavations here, and of your research. Have you made any discoveries or breakthroughs recently?"

T'laka nods at Kopos and goes to inspect the corpses.

Trying to think if there are any feral undead that might cause the wounds they're looking at

After spending a long time looking at the bodies T'laka turns to the other pathfinders and simply shrugs and says "I'm not that kind of doctor". "Perhaps one of you will have better luck"

"It seems to me a murder would be easy to hide here, simply leave the body outside for feral undead to gnaw on and they'll take care of the evidence"

T'laka's mind voice sounds even stranger when they're in their space-suit as it's not attenuated and sounds perfectly clear.

"Taylehm, did anything happen to precipitate the troubles? Disagreements, unusual findings, that sort of thing?"

"The two bodies, are they society members? I would like to inspect them"

Without moving, he continues his telepathy but only to the rest of the Starfinders this time.

"With the security detail not reporting in I suggest we leave the site until we have as much information as possible, it may be dangerous and we should be prepared"

T'laka looks uncomfortable at the mention of marksmanship, but they appear otherwise satisfied with the mission.

"I am ready to depart, this should be a most interesting assignment!"

T'laka's mandibles twitch at the mention of the combination of technology and magic.

"Magic is something of a hobby of mine Venture Captain" they broadcast into Arvin's mind.

T'laka puts their datapad away as the others arrive. To Yis they chitter an apology.

"I'm sorry, it's easier for me to use the mindspeach. I will try to remember"

They look impressed at the scoured stars veteran and steward officer, but try not to to show their surprise at seeing a living elebrian.

"I'm pleased to see we have such a good community for this mission. I am a mathematician, specialising in geometry and its applications to spacial anomalies and drift transition."

They look pleased with themselves, as if that ought to cover all the possible skills required for a Starfinder Society mission.

"I also dabble in the melding of magic and machine as a hobby. Sometimes it can be useful for defence"

They shoot a tiny bolt of pure cold energy at the table causing some ice to form as if to demonstrate.

T'laka looks up dreamily, and speaks telepathically to both newcomers in a deep mellifluous mind-voice.

"I'm sorry I was thoroughly distracted there, this latest paper from the research institute in Qabarat is quite fascinating. My name is T'laka, I'm pleased to meet you. I am indeed waiting for the Venture Captain, but we are early yet, I've known Venture Captain Arvin to be quite punctual in the past"

"Have you worked for him before? I'm eager to know what kind of mission we are being sent on, I hope it's to a distant world!"

T'laka enters the conference room early, completely absorbed in a datapad containing a new paper on the application of p-Adic number theory to drift navigation.

They are tall and gangly, dressed in a scruffy labcoat littered with stains, with with a variety of weapons and toolkits stuffed into its many pockets.

They glance up to see no-one around, and take a seat while resuming going over the datapad. Their mandibles rub together excitedly as they consider the implications, and they fail to notice as others start to arrive.
