Thanks for considering Tariro. I've been crazy busy the past three days and couldn't give her her Roleplaying best, but I'll be watching.

Character Questions

Crecy: What race and alignment are you? Are you taking any of the Inquisitions or Archetypes found in UM?

Tariro: What role do you see Adeen playing in your character's development?

Allia: Why did you choose the Geisha archetype? What about it drew your attention?

RP'ing
At Meraxes' words, there is an initial, nervous laugh. More laughs follow and soon the galley is full of laughter and empty of quiet tension. The only man not laughing is the one who was slapped. He is mouthing curses under his breath, alternating looking at Petry and Allia. His hand wraps around his cutlass, but he does not move.

Not a major part of her story. A plot hook to be taken care of, and to give her extra speed and carrying capacity. It would be cool to develop a mounted spellcaster however...hmmm...I'll have to give that some thought:-).

Spoiler:

"Hi I'm Tariro". "I've only been aboard a short time". "I came aboard in Bloodcove". "Do you feel OK"?

We started the campaign for this character before the AP even came out, and it died within a month of the AP coming out. I'd like to resubmit her to try again.

Here is how she came to be aboard ship.

Spoiler:

-Why you were drawn to Bloodcove you do not know but something has pulled you towards the town of the pale outlanders. Some here have tried to enslave you but with Dotars timely warnings you have so far managed to evade the slavers chains. How long this run off luck can keep up is however debateable and you have been seeking a way to leave town. You have heard that a ship..one of those strange floating houses the Palefolk use, called the Jenever is leaving soon for the South..perhaps it might be your way out off this cesspit
-So that was the ship. Taking position among a pile of crates Tariro watched the ship from her concealed position. She saw the woman leave the ship with the dangerous Raptor in tow. She had heard of people who made friends of animals, and her best friend was her toad, but to make friends with such a dangerous creature. Her spirit must be strong indeed.

She had to find a way to get on board this vessel. It was much too dangerous here. Only this morning she had been nearly Shanghaied aboard that Orc piloted vessel that pulled out earlier. They said I would be a cook...right probably they meant cooked. A quick taste of flame put them off though. She was also down to only a few coins, though she didn't completely understand their value. But they were much easier to use to buy things than the small sack of pretty stones she had traded for them. And though she didn't mind sneaking around for warm places to sleep, keeping her pony stabled was costing her a fortune.

So how to get the ship to take her aboard, along with a Pony? Just as she was ready to approach the ship to try and bargain or beg herself aboard, she saw a large pale skinned woman approach the ship, and begin booming out demands. Then she saw a small being approach her leaning on a stick for support. "I think I've seen him before" she thinks to herself. "He walks about the city, and scratches on some funny paper with a beautiful red firebird feather".

Maybe I'll watch for a while and see what happens.

-Tariro, not really understanding how this whole thing works, simply joins one of the returning bands of sailors, and walks alongside them onto the ship.

It appears to her that if you want to go on-board you simply do so. The only thing unusual about her approach is the fact she is leading a small grey pony behind her.

-Tariro walks forward presenting her 10 gp. I will help with any healing which needs to be done aboard ship, for passage for my pony...and without waiting for an answer she hands the captain the coins, and begins leading her mount aboard.

Tariro plans to continue her progression as a Witch, adjusting her hexes and spells to whatever is lacking in the party...(I think the witch is the most flexible Arcane spell user in the game).

Her Story-perspective is to experience and learn to associate with people from outside her own tribe, and traditions. As she learns to accept and care for her fellow adventurers, she will begin to form them into her own "Tribe".

Tariro reporting for duty. Thanks for the opportunity. I'll peruse the Character sheet, and make sure it's updated, since I did it before the Serpent's skull book and APG came out.

Whoops! I forgot we roleplayed how we got aboard the ship. The descriptions of whom she saw board might change, but here is the gist of it.

Here is my Witch from a recently closed SS game, that had just begun the adventure, when it ended.

I liked it too. I just never knew what we were supposed to do next.

"Let us take it slow and move back the way we came following the tracks". "I am tired of doing nothing".

I'll be out of the country on business from tomorrow morning till Thursday evening. Should have internet, but only later in the evening. don't want to hold up the game so post for character as needed.

Gareth turns a shade of red. No one has ever healed him before.T-t-t-thank-you...

"Glad to do it big guy". "I figure if I'm going to hide behind you it's the least I can do", Tariro says with a smile and a wink.

Tariro steps forward to Gareth,"Here let me close that wound for you".

1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 CLW

Is anyone else wounded?

Tariro quickly steps to Joao's side; "Let me help you friend".

CLW 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 she will position herself so as to not draw an AoO while doing so

Tariro will attempt to position both men to catch in her burning hands. If not possible she will fry one of them.

Burning Hands (DC14)
1d4 ⇒ 3

DM Wellard wrote:

Joao you are already engaged in melee...you were struck in the surprise round for 8 damage and made no post for that round.

Do you want to revise your action in that light remember drawing a weapon in melee brings an AoO

Draw a weapon No -

Actually drawing a weapon for some reason does not provoke an AoO according to RAW...never made sense to me...but that's what it says

Tariro quickly adorns herself in her magical protection (Casts Mage Armor) AC now 17 for the next hour)

"North is good for me".

Tariro noticing the above listed haven't really joined in the fun, makes a point to take them an extra portion of the delicious Lion Berries she found while foraging yesterday. She doesn't say anything, just presents them on a piece of Palm frond.

I'll be travelling a lot over the next two weeks, but should have Internet every evening (US Eastern Time). Please feel free to play my character, to move along the game as needed

I think things will get rocking when we begin to explore the island. Just need to get our feet under us and do some things.

"OK". "Are we going to ever do anything, or just sit here till we starve to death". "Let's go see whats on this island". Tariro exclaims after rising the next morning.

I'm assuming Tariro, and Gareth found nothing on their scouting trip

"I would like to move along the coast for a while, since it has cooled off". "Maybe there are more survivors or something else we can use". "Would anyone like to go with me"?

I don't think it was intended for PC's to take up the 'role' slots, unless they can't post for a while, since they are all day tasks, and we won't have time to do anything else. Tariro wants to explore

So I'm assuming Sahsa didn't answer to Tariro's query?

Tariro approaches Sahsa. "What are you laughing about"? "You seem to be full of energy, would you like to help with finding a campsite"?

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13 diplomacy

"Well things being as they are, let's make the best of the situation". "Perhaps we should build a shelter and fire of some sort, and establish a base camp here on the beach".

"If any of you have any wilderness skills, perhaps they can come with me, and let's explore the general area, looking for a supply of fresh water, and maybe some food". "Others could get busy with shelter, and a fire". "We can re-access our situation once the basics are taken care of". "We should also see what the other survivors have to offer".

Tariro begins to spread out the map of the island, and try to determine where they are on it. "Is anybody here good at using these silly things" she mentions. "It doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but I'd like to know where we are, and where we can go for help".

After checking on her pony, and helping take all the goods ashore, Tariro goes over to the ruins of the ships boat, and carefully scans the area for tracks etc. (Take 20 on Perception for a total of 26)

Tariro gathers up all the maps, and looks for something to carry them in. Never know when they might come in handy.

Tariro takes the time to throughly search the desk.

Take 20 on perception for a total of 26

Tariro heads for the Stern cabins.

perception (1d20+6=17)

Tariro will attempt to stand 10' back from the combat, and use aid another to give someone close to her a +2 to attack (Brugga?). She will attack if something comes at her, and keep moving to provide the Aid another action.

Aid another in combat (1d20-2=-1)

But fails miserably as her spear becomes caught up in some drooping sailcloth, and is ripped from her hands.

Tariro mentioned two posts ago that she was going along with the group to the ship

Seeing more of the ornery creatures, Tariro takes a moment to cast Mage Armor upon herself.

AC 17 for the next hour , and readies her longspear.

"Yeah". "Who knows how long we'll be here, and if there are any villages on this island". "We should get what we can from the ship, before it sinks or breaks up". "Canvas, Food, fresh water, anything we could use".

Tariro just shakes her head at the wasteful banter. "You'd think we had enough problems without fighting amongst ourselves, she speaks quietly in her bedraggled pony's ear. "I would like to see what's left in the ship however, and my size might help there".

"Hold up"! she hollers "I'm coming with you", and she dashes to catch up to the group heading towards the wreck.

Tariro looks up from sorting through the pile looking for her gear at a familiar snort from the edge of the jungle..."Adeen" she squeals with delight, and dropping her stuff she runs to embrace the pony. She even feels contentment from Dotar in his pouch.

She then quickly looks the Pony over to make sure he's OK. 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 heal check

Tariro grabs whatever weapon she knows how to use from the pile, and turns to viscously confront one of the beasts.

Fighting defensively unless she has to melee.

Round 4

Spoiler:
Tariro quickly jumps to her feet, and runs to where Joao is waiting. She tries to spot her spear, or dagger in the pile of stuff.

"I'm coming". "Where are we"? "What's happening"?

Round 3

Spoiler:
Coming awake quickly Tariro quickly sends out her senses to determine if Dotar is nearby anywhere, before scrambling back a few feet still prone.

She then spreads her fingers out and attempts to roast the offending beast.

Burning Hands (DC13 save for half damage

Burning Hands (1d4=3)

Please join me at the rail my friend. There's plenty of room.

After the kind man's help with the Hammock, Tariro was actually starting to enjoy the cruise. She spent most of her days hanging out in her hammock in the shade, and paid occasional visits to her pony, but other than that it was a quite pleasant vacation.

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 Fortitude Save

If the dang boat would just hold still for a moment. When the chop picked up Tariro figured out for sure she was not meant to be a sailor, as she spent more time at the rail, than in her hammock.

"I should get a refund for my passage", she tells the captain when he offers a reassuring word. "Only half of me has been on the boat, the other half has been out over the side". "And the gods know I haven't kept any of the food we've been served"...and with the thought of food she turns and retches over the side of the boat...again.

"Vix thank you, South Man," Brugga says in Varisian. "Vix eat better than rest of us on ship. Vix maybe get fat."

His response was a slight smile and nod, the majority of his attention going to maintaining his weapons, checking to see if the direct salt air was having any immediate effect. Four daggers, a mace that looked like it was the bastard cousin of a club, and a worn crossbow were taken care of in the dim light from the ship while she was rocked by the waves under a night sky. When the halfling made her way around the ship, he watched her when she passed through his line of sight, evaluating the state of her health while he worked.

When he was finished maintaining his equipment, he replaced everything and rose, searching out a length of rope and starting to work on something. It continued until he was done, a process that did not take very long at all, casting about for a place to anchor what he had constructed. When he did manage to find a place, only then did he approach the halfling. "Got a hammock for you", he said neutrally, gesturing in the direction that he had set it up. One good thing about halflings was that they were light, so he did not have to anchor it like he would for another. "Probably won't help when you put feet on the deck, but for sleeping, you should be fine."

Between Survival and Craft(Traps), a halfling sized "hammock"(net) shouldn't be a difficult undertaking.

"I...I...I don't know what to say". "I have no gift to give you in return...but thank you". "I shall be in your debt". She then bows deeply to the man, and begins to find a place to rig the hammock so that it is in shade for much of the day.

Dang post monster

Tariro wipes her mouth off and stands from her shady spot on weak legs. "Dang will this house ever stop bucking and heaving". "I've spent many a night swaying from the treetops, but never anything like this".

She then makes a tour of the ship, stopping occasionally as the queasy feeling returns...but not as strong as before, before making her way to the hold to check on her Pony.

She then returns to her shady spot, feeling a little better about her decision. At least nobody is trying to hurt or capture her here...for now.

Fortitude Save (1d20+3=9)

Tariro finds a shady spot on the deck, and makes herself comfortable, hopefully a spot with a breeze. If she see's or hears anyone injured she will slowly make her way over for healing.
