Oh, you guys have already started. Looks like I had a lot of catching up to do... not to worry, I am just trying to get things sorted now.

Tanira's background makes it somewhat difficult to connect to her if you're not from the Eldeen Reaches and have not recently been in Stormhome. She has some connections to the House of Lyrandar, though.

Should it be a problem that she is a wielder of the (least) Mark of Storm I would need to rewrite the story. As for the equipment... I think I still have the original equipment selection somewhere and will adjust accordingly.

Having got an impression of the adventure and seeing that it will start in Sharn I would like to request switching the character after all (sorry for the confusion after my late entry).

While all my other characters are more or less unique (there may be certain similarities in their personalities, but they have different stories), I have a variation of the basic idea that also spawned Tanira: Sharea.


  • Just as Tanira, Sharea carries the least Mark of Storm but has not been a member of house Lyrandar until recently. (And consequently they are both half-elves.)
  • She is a wielder of somewhat wild magic, but she's a sorceress, not a witch.
  • Just as Tanira she has grown up with a single parent, but that was her mother, not her father.
  • She has grown up in the forest as well, however, her mother was a huntress who lived in a forest near a rural environment in Aundair, not in in the depth of the Eldeen reaches and was not completely seperated from civilization as a child.
  • Unlike Tanira, Sharea knows where her connection to house Lyrandar comes from. She is a bastard of a youvenile adventure of her father.
  • She has a step mother and a half-sister and brother she does not get along with, but she has a good relation to her eldest half sister and to her father.
  • Her familiar is a hawk, not a fox. It was given to her by her father.
  • Just like Tanira she is barely accepted in house Lyrandar. She is permitted to call herself d'Lyrandar, but she is not welcome in Stormhome and expected to prove herself without causing trouble and dishonouring the name. She achieved that by saving her half-sister's live (even though it had been her that brought her into trouble in the first place).
  • She is a blonde, not a brunette. I used that as reference image: http://www.deviantart.com/art/Tattooed-Elf-Girl-coloured-356018930
  • I imagine her a bit more mature than Tanira. Even though she is still young.
  • She is true good, not chaotic good.

Unfortunately I wrote the character story (which is a good bit longer than Tanira's) in German, so I have some work in front of me. However, she would fit way better into an environment such as Sharn.

A detail that won't work well in English is her "code name" she uses the Sharn underground: White Queen, as the figure in chess. To call onceself "queen" would be a bit presumptious, though. So her code name would be just "QD1" (D1 is the starting position of the white queen in chess).

Sharea was originally created by D&D 3 rules, so she does not yet have a sorcerer bloodline... I gotta choose one that works with the mark of storm...

Tanira got her crossbow ready again. "If it has a mind I might be able to sense it." She doubted that it did, but it may be worth a try. She lifted a small copper piece between thumb, index finger and held it as though she wanted to see through it and whispered in elven: "Winds of magic, draw and expose minds." The copper piece disappeared as the magic flew.

I would like to point out that Tanira's is not a "Healer" as far as her role in the group is concerned, but a "Crowd Controler". She doesn't do a lot of crowd control, but that's primarily because she can cast only as many spells as she prepares and we're going in one run from one combat encounter to the next, which is why she's running on wands for a while.

"I am afraid I can't help Cil any further, that falls more into the alley of an actual healer or someone who wields the power of the divine. I can only help out so far as my knowledge from a life in the woods and its arcane secrets is concerned."

Tanira's fingers ran over the wands at her thigh, which were pretty much the only thing she had been able to contribute to their progress for some time. Luckily they found more, but she had run out of the spells which Zharon had whispered to her this morning long before they even entered this temple and he had never whispered of any spell that would allow to restore Cil's strength.

"Wait, let me see that?" She kneels down at Cil's side and takes a look at the poisoned spot. Without proper equipment she has to improvise and she uses a bit of cloth, water from her waterskin and her dagger. "This may hurt a little."

When the strange, confusing lights of the spell wash over Tanira has her trouble remaining sane. First she feels lucky that nothing bad seems to have happened and her trusty fox - who was able to avoid the worst behind the cover of the half high walls anyway - seems unaffected as well. But her comrades seem to have been not quite as lucky.

"Stop it! Focus on my voice!" she speaks out loud but doesn't shout, since she might attract unnescessary attention otherwise. "Cil, can you hear me?"

I suppose this is an illusion, not an enchantment, since it's kinda based on color spray. If it were an enchantment Tanira would get +2 on will saves.

As the goblin is struck down Tanira hisses: "Don't move, there's traps all over." to Zharon. Though she does not understand her words he realizes the command and understands her concern, as she does understand his concern to be in such an unfamiliar, unnatural place.

Tanira keeps standing in place until Cil passes by her and tries to cover the area with her crossbow.

Curious actually. I would have to lie to say it was my favourite game so far, but it certainly was a very persistent game, going on over a very long period of time. I think we still can unravel the mysteries of our enemies and allies, who is who and whose pawn in this game we actually are. :)

Wish I had taken a slightly better shot at the goblin... two points of damage. While Tanira doubts that killing the goblin is absolutely necessary, she's still not about to risk her life to find out. It still is a goblin. ^^ From the perspective of a goblin Tanira would rather like to be seen as a cruel, heartless slayer than a victim.

"That's odd." Tanira thinks as she lifts her crossbow to get a shot past Quantos.

The goblins seemed to be hardly in fighting condition. If they were standing guard here they were doing a lousy job... They might have planted the traps, but certainly not made them. Tanira wasn't so sure whether they were necessarily enemies in the first place, with all that confusion about allegiance around here. That didn't stop her from shooting, though. They were goblins after all, though the thought gnawed on her.

Zharon was following in her exact footsteps, which was good, because the last thing she needed was her little red friend being hurt by a trap.

Double move. I repositioned her on the map this time. Last round I basically did nothing. I may have to recalculate the weight she's carrying though. With all the stuff she has a movement rate of 60 ft. occurs strange to me.

Tanira hesitates for just a heartbeat, considering whether she should use her charm spell on one of them. But since this seems to be going on and on she's not quite ready to cast her very last spell for today. It's just a handful of goblins anyway.

She throws her hair on her back, rests her crossbow on one of the walls, waits until she gets a shot at one of the goblins behind the walls and then takes it.

"Goblins" she hisses.

She steps a little closer to the side of Saronis, but tries to avoid appearing aggressive in any way.
"My name is Tanira. I am from Khorvair, from the Eldeen Reaches to be precise. Who are you?"

Tanira looks a bit embarressed. She was under the impression that she left the site where she was close to the spirits in the forest looking for a ritual book of some kind to thwart vile plans. The hole war going on here seems unreal to her, but she thinks she's not with the summoned monster... Though it's ultimately hard to tell.

"We... well, to be honest it's hard to say whose side we're on in all this mess. We came here looking for something and found this war going on. Now it seems there are more than two sides in all of this. But I'd appreciate it very much if we could get along without further bloodshed."

"hmmm..." Tanira checks the dead goblins in the area to see whether they were all burned or whatever killed them, while the rest investigates the door.

This whole scenery is so unreal that Tanira has hard time not to give in to the feeling of being homesick. The lush forests - not jungles - she came from. Well, with the witches that didn't want her. Temples, caverns, traps and steel doors are not her usual terrain.

"I am afraid I have no idea how to open that one, unless it isn't locked. But, given the recent traps, I'd appreciate if one who knows what they are doing checks that."

She takes a step back and holds her "Cure Serious Wounds" wand ready, in case one of her comrades needs help quickly.

"I am still a little puzzled with all the dead bodies over here. Who was the attacker and who was the defender. I would have thought the goblins were originally meant to get through... How many different parties are at work here and what do they all want?"

The only spell she has left from the very first fights of today - not counting her wands - is a charm spell. She's really good at it, but she doubts this door can be charmed.

Tanira is still collapsed on the floor and breathes heavily since she has and sweat gleams over her forehead. She's on the verge of collapse. She slowly gets a wand out and activates it, causing her skin to severely smoothen and the signs of burns to diminish.

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

That's effectively 4 hit points back because taking a standard action while being reduced to 0 hit points causes one damage after the action is taken.

Still being wounded, even though not on the brink of death anymore she decides to use another charge.

While she does seem a little grumpy she tries to swallow her frustration down and go on with healing her comrades.

Tanira notices how Jake's attention turns to something in particular. "Found anything? Just be careful..."

She makes a casual gesture and mumbles the words of the single one spell she probably casts most often - Detect Magic.

"Looks like this fire has already taken its toll... there has to be some way around it for the cultists who were actually supposed to get up there." She tries to remain calm between the presence of so much death and steps closer to the blazes of fire while avoiding to step onto dead bodies. But the way she moves lacks her typical lightheartedness and seems rather stiff, the motions of her head rather abrupt and there seems to be a tension under the relaxed expression on her face, making visible that she's forcing herself to appear relaxed.

She tries to figure out how those, which were supposed to pass by the fire did so, how frequent the blazes are, whether there is a way around it or a mechanism to deactivate it.

Tanira raises, heavily breathing, from beneath the destroyed zombie. She chokes, suppressing the urge to throw up and tries to remove the traces of the zombie's touch from her skin. "Let... Let's just go on... the only way out of this nightmare seems following it through."

She checks her crossbow and and start to venture further through the strange pyramid.

Tanira follows her Comrades closely dodging from wall to wall as they do, and makes her fox follow her as swift as she can, hoping he will use any cover he can find that is appropriate to his size.

While it takes a moment before the stench really creeps into her, she can hardly deal with the stench. "I'm a Lyrandar you idiots!" she presses out in between choking. "Now you reap the whirlwind!"

She raises a bit above a cover and throws out a hand in the direction Jake indicated and a sudden wind blows the stench right into the faces of her enemies. I just notice I don't have a wand of sleep, I just had a scroll. The save DC is, CHA based, the spell level should be 2, i.e. the DC is 14. Tanira will try to choose a line so that she catches several of the enemies but leaves Zharon out of it. Small creatures will be knocked prone, unless they make a fortitude check, if any medium or smaller creature wishes to move against it it's a DC 15 strength check, -4 on Perception and ranged attacks in the area of effect - a 60ft. line. The effect lasts one round.

I didn't mention it because I wasn't actually casting the spell, but rather just asking whether I can: They do get a will save. Since I cast from a wand it's not based on my INT score, but the absolute minimum required. Which makes the DC 11.

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

Tanira remains watchful and peers through the rubble, smoke and dead bodies. Should any other enemy come in sight she's cast her spell on those as well.

Ready action: Cast sleep (Will negates, DC 11) from her wand should enemies come to engage.

What's the black bars on the way. I'd use a sleep in the fashion I positioned it on the map, but I am not sure whether I can see the point of origin (which is the corner of square, not a square itself in Pathfinder)

Tanira fondles the back of the neck of the creature and gives it a bit of one of her trail rations, even though her equally canine fox Zharon looks very warily at it.

When she hears how alert the others are she get the wand of sleep, strapped to her thigh in a magazine of wands that's starting to become seriously uncomfortable, out and looks around to see what they are talking about.

Tanira slips the potion and one ion stone into her backpack, the wand of mage armor next to the one she already has into her garter and put the ring of deflection on her finger. She looks over everything else to see whether there is any magic in them where they would not expect it. While she is on it she also checks the mirror she found earlier, along with the blanket in which it is wrapped.

"I do have my own silver dagger..." She lifts the dagger with the light spell on it, made of alchemically treated silver. "So I don't really need one of those. I no one wants it I'll take the cold iron dagger as spare." Tanira looks around the room. "I think we have all for now, don't we?" She still a little puzzled with the meaning of all the magic props around here. "Shall we go on?"

The hidden room did not have any other exit, I suppose?

"I could use a wand of mage armor, but I already have one which is almost full of charges... does anyone else want it?"

She gets the wand of cure moderate wounds without comment and slips it to the others in her garter. "The wand with that... 'shield' spell is not useful to me in case you wonder... that is... not my tradition of magic." She clears her throat for she does not emphasize on the fact that she's a witch.

I suppose the ring of deflection is in the loot because I asked for it.

Tanira sees through Saronis reaction but does really react, unsure what to think of it. "Careful with this." she says as she passes on the ring.

"It seems there is some kind of 'stars' on the ceiling... but you only notice it when it's dark enough." She sheathes the dagger with the light spell on its blade, to quench her light source.

Tanira looks a little puzzled. "Stars generally look best whenever the moon is dark. Do recognize which star sign it is?"

Tanira circles slowly through the room, looking at the pieces of the puzzle before her. She tries to identify the kind of magic in the items she orbs, cube and the ring. Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28

"Maye we should try using the ring..." She bends closer to the statue's finger, checks the ring closely to see whether there is any inscription and then carefully tries to first simply touch it and pull it off the statue. "Though may it's best if an elf does it", she says with a glance to Saronis.

I misunderstood, I thought it was some kind of humanoid / canine creature and thus sentiened. If I had simply taken it for a dog, I might have simply given it a coup de grâce

"Sounds like more riddles to me. Do the four moon phases we saw depicted on the inscription somehow relate to those orbs?" She whispers the elven words "Bring me the starlight" and touches her dagger with a complex gesture as she casts a light spell. Slowly she steps into the room, mumbling a "follow me" to Zharon, who keeps slipping around her ankles.

When she notices the inscription on the shield she reads and translates it. After a moment of thought she adds: "I do belong to an old blood line - I am... well, half recognized, half bastard, an official bastard if you will, of house Lyrandar, but it has been a half-elven one for countless generations, while I must have elven ancestors at some point I can't trace my lineage back to them."

"Did you notice the ring on the finger of the statue? Somehow there must be a mechanism to open all those little compartments here. I am curious what is behind all this... Zharon watch out for me, I am gonna try something" She approaches one of the orbs held by a dragon and touches it carefully with the tip of her middle finger.

While holding the glowing dagger she speaks in elven "Streams of arcane, illuminate!" (Detect Magic) and makes a gesture like centering something on her eyes with the other.

As she notices the wounded canine creature, she steps swiftly to it. She doesn't really know whether it is friend or foe but she won't just let it die. "Hold on, don't be afraid." She makes a few soothing gestures in case it doesn't understand common.

She tries her best to tend its wounds and stop the bleeding.
Heal: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

Over the shoulder she mentions: "Yes, 'Stars' would indeed be the answer to that riddle. And I think the symbols I saw on passing by represent moon phases new, waxing, full and waning moon. Do you know which dragon that is supposed to be? If it's all about stars it might be Siberys, but I am not sure whether He is typically depicted in red..."

To the creature she asks: "With who are you? What happened here?" She's not entirely sure whether it's even conscious, though.
