"Well this should be fun…" A clearly unamused Tal states.

Grand Lodge

Tal heads for the doorway of the other room, taking caution not to block entry for his companion's sake.

Grand Lodge

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (19) + 22 = 41

Tal deftly maneuvers into a flanking position with Arnthoth and strikes at one of the assailants.

Attack: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (17) + 16 = 33, Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10, Sneak Attack: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 4, 5) = 13

Grand Lodge

"Lissala." Tal says as he continues to admire his new tattoo.

Grand Lodge

"Ahm...no one said anything about suffering and sacrifice before we agreed to these admittedly really boss tattoos. Is this one of those bait and switch things? 'Here...have this free tattoo. Oh, by the way, now you have to walk through fire!' Geesh."

Grand Lodge

"Well I think at least a few of us should play along...I suppose I'll take one for the team as well." Tal removes the gauntlet on his left arm and turns his hand palm up. "Here, please." He points to his wrist.

Grand Lodge

Tal moves back and readies an attack. "Draw them back to this intersection...we can attack them from both sides!"

Grand Lodge

Tal puts his hands on the pommels of his short swords and waits for a strategic opening. Delaying for a bit others get into position.

Grand Lodge

"Well if there are no objections..."

Tal attempts to pick the lock.

Disable Device: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (17) + 20 = 37

Grand Lodge

Tal attempts to determine if this man can be trusted.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32

Grand Lodge

Tal approaches the cell where the only intelligible words are heard. "Hey buddy...watcha in for?"

Grand Lodge

Daydreaming...Tal suddenly snaps awake. "Subtle breaking and entering? Finally a game I can play well."

Grand Lodge

Tal absentmindedly flips his daggers while casually sending signals to Arnthoth regarding the butler's hand.

Grand Lodge

This one gives me an uneasy feeling... "I doubt we'd be able to leave you behind if we wanted to...I won't hold you to being helpful but there will be repercussions should you hinder us." This may have come across as more harsh that Tal intended so he seeks to rectify things by clarifying his intent. "What I mean to say is...don't get in the way or I'll hurt you." There...that's better!

Grand Lodge

Tal smirks at the near slip up. Good to see he feels the same way about nobles as I do.

Grand Lodge

I'm OK with role play...but this far I feel as though our role play has been all over the place and I'm finding myself spending more time figuring out what is going on/deciphering what we're trying to accomplish which leaves me less time for posting.

Additionally, Tal has many skills but being charming isn't one of them. I've tried to throw out an Aid on Diplomacy here and there but until I need to climb a wall, pick a lock, look for a trap or tumble out of harm's way I'm not going to be much help. That said I'm happy to RP to keep things interesting but making sense of things has been tough for me so far.

I'm not sure what the solution is...PbP in a sandbox setting can be pretty tough.

Grand Lodge

Aid: Diplomacy: 1d20 ⇒ 10

"You're cooperation and expertise will be greatly appreciated."

Grand Lodge

"Let the word weavers do what they do…I have a feeling we'll be putting our weapons to work in short order." Tal whispers to Julian.

Grand Lodge

Tal assists Arnthoth by having a look about himself. Aid: Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16

Grand Lodge

I have not played any games in this series…nor have I run any of them. I also apologize for my slow start; I'm just having a hard time wrapping my brain around the information gathering thus far.

That said, I just want to warn everyone that, despite my best efforts, a blizzard will be arriving later this evening and by this time tomorrow I will be digging myself out of approximately 2 feet of snow. Not sure whether I'll have consistent power or internet as a result of the storm but I will check in as often as I can.

In the meantime I have the day off from work tomorrow, plenty of beer, and the wife is planning on making cookies; so please don't worry about me too much!

Grand Lodge

Rolling his eyes, Tal decides to leave Shandor to his machinations and attempts to gather information from some of the other patrons. Unfortunately Tal is comes off as much too intimidating.

Diplomacy: 1d20 ⇒ 3

Grand Lodge

Mesmerized by the sheer size of Julian, Tal hopes that his new companions don't think he's compensating for something by carrying so many weapons.

Grand Lodge

"I suppose I could play the part of his bodyguard...I do carry quite a few weapons."

Grand Lodge

"Heart eaters. How charming." Tal asks around hoping his interest in such a thing doesn't cause the locals to run after the authorities.

K: Local: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19

Grand Lodge

A youngish looking man strides in; the slight angular top of his ears poking through his long hair is the only indication of his elven heritage. He has a matched set of several different types of weapons; they have clearly seen some use. He nods to all.

Thanks for running this...it was fun!

Taking 10 on Perception

Tal attempts to identify the books. Lingustics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

Grand Lodge

Tal moves around the column to flank the easternmost beast with Leastrie...tumbling to avoid any opportunistic attacks.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (19) + 22 = 41
Attack: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (14) + 17 = 31, Damage: 1d6 + 5 + 4d6 ⇒ (2) + 5 + (3, 4, 3, 4) = 21

Fort: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

GM Star Reroll: Fort: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

Tal delays until the sphinxes move closer to the party.

Grand Lodge

Tal moves behind the southeastern column; hoping to circle around when the creatures close in.

Grand Lodge

Tal remains back as Quiven takes point...weapons drawn and ever watchful.

Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19

Grand Lodge

Wow...look at all those typos in my post! I guess typing on my phone at 6am wasn't the best idea!

Grand Lodge

"Wait…I know this one. You oour water from one cup into another cup, then you empty a cup and fill it again. Give me a minute…"

Tal fills up the larger cup and pours it into the smaller up. He then empties the smaller up and pours the remaining water from the larger cup into the smaller. "This leaves two cups of water in the smaller up. Now watch this!"

Tal fills up the larger cup again and pours it into the remaining space available in the smaller cup, leaving exactly four cups of water in the larger cup. "Now who wants to bring this to the nice stature lady?"

Grand Lodge

Is the gem within reach or is it suspended above us?

Tal examines the root for traps. "Last thing we need is for the roof to cave in on us." If he determines all is well Tal will attempt to pull the gem from the root.

Trapfinding: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (10) + 18 = 28

Quiven Glist wrote:
Oh, I can only draw one at a time? I never knew that. Usually I move more than 5' when it comes up so I never had to deal with it like this, I just make a single attack anyway. Good to know!

You can draw both weapons as one action but you can't make a full attack in the same round since drawing the weapons is considered a move action.

Grand Lodge

Tal continues his assault on the damaged elemental, moving to the other if the first falls.

Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29,Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23,Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Grand Lodge

Tal focuses fire on Omrax's target. Should that target fall he will attack the elemental in front of him. I'm assuming these have the standard elemental traits...so I didn't roll sneak attack damage.

Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26, Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18, Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Grand Lodge

Assuming this can be done at ground level...

Tal attempts to disarm the trap.

Disable Device: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (20) + 20 = 40

Grand Lodge

Linguistics?: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

Tal makes an attempt at deciphering the runes but isn't hopeful about his chances. "I do enjoy learning the older languages but I'm not sure I've seen their like before..." After a few more moments of thought Tal decides his efforts might be better spent searching for traps.

Perception: Trapfinding: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (19) + 18 = 37

Grand Lodge

"Clockwise, as they say? Sounds like an idea." When the group is ready to move Tal scouts ahead with weapons drawn.

Stealth: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28
Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (20) + 14 = 34

Grand Lodge

Tal attempts to make sense of the script.

Linguistics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

Grand Lodge

"When we return, will someone explain the forks to me?"

Aid Diplomacy: 1d20 ⇒ 6

Grand Lodge

Take good care of you and yours...I hope all is well soon.

Grand Lodge

So am I able to see the one directly in front of me...and is he the one I damaged last round?

Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26, Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17, Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

@Talhaearn: Mordrak has not yet acted, nor is he armed, so he cannot be used as a flanking partner for bonuses to hit or sneak attack damage.

Then I'll either delay until Mordrak acts or ready an attack triggered when he draws his weapon...whichever is easiest to retcon.

Grand Lodge

Tal tumbles behind Mordrak's foe and slashes.

Acrobatics to avoid AoO: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (1) + 22 = 23
Attack: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18 Add +2 to attack roll if Acrobatics check succeeds.
Damage: 1d6 + 5 + 4d6 ⇒ (4) + 5 + (3, 1, 4, 6) = 23

Grand Lodge

Tal unsheathes his short swords; feeling the metaphorical snap of the peace bond while doing so. "Unlike those blasted forks these utensils I am quite adept at using."

Grand Lodge

As someone who has been bitten repeatedly these last few weeks by playing up while on the cusp I vote lower tier.
