Takeshi splutters on his drink, almost choking in his attempt to stifle his laughter. Much faster than a man wearing that much armor should move, he dashes around to the other side of the closest thug, drawing two kukri's as he moves. He looms over the thug, addressing him and his companions in a low growl. "Stand down or you will regret it." Using their telepathic connection, he then addresses his companions. Mr. The Righteous gets another point in the 'sketchy individual' column. Readied action to attack Red if either he or his companions do not either immediately surrender, flee, or otherwise back down. Takeshi shakes his head silently as one of their opponents continues to yell in defiance even as he hears the soft thud of another of their number fall to their prowess. He suspected the fight would soon be over, given the general lack of damage or other effects their opponents had inflicted. If you can't see your opponent, just do AoE stuff and a best guess on an area that will hit them. Though it looks like your only AoE spells are Confusion and Sound Burst. Confusion might be a good choice since there's a 1/4 change a confused enemy hurts itself. On that note, if you can find the boar, Terrible Remorse looks like it might be a good spell to use (I would not have expected animals to have great will saves and what's the owner going to do if the animal is hurting itself?). If you can get within touch range, Bestow Curse will remove 3*HD HP or if you think the other person has healing spells, you can use the one that reduces the effectiveness of healing. Silence, of course, will also shut down the other's spellcasting if you get close-ish to her while leaving you free to cast spells.

Or maybe since we're winning they'll attempt to bet against us and rig our match for the payout. Takeshi's eyes narrow a fraction in suspicion, but only voices his concerns to his companions via their telepathic link. Instead he communicates over his telepathic bond. Overall, I'd say he's lucky if they've forgiven his debt with just a beating. I've heard of such things resulting in literal slavery before, though typically they let you place more bets to get even further in over your head before that happens. By "poison" I mostly meant "there was something in their food/drink that made them ill" (I mean, food poisoning even has the word "poison" even though it's not really poison in the D&D sense; I mean, even if it were accidental we'd still want to know if the food was safe to eat). But sure, while I think the circumstances are suspicious enough to warrant investigation into our food without metagaming, if you disagree I'll go with that.

Wait, I thought the Prof had investigated/gotten info about it? Here is where he found out a large number of people were ill and here's where he found out one of the ill people had ingested something that was "not common at all", which I would have thought would indicate some kind of poison (or at least warrant more investigation).

To be clear, where is the informational breakdown happening? Is it 1) The prof can't conclude there was a mass poisoning from knowing a bunch of people are ill and that at least one ingested something uncommon to make him feel weak. 2) We can't assume the prof told us everything he found out and instead should be acting only on what he's explicitly said in character 3) We can't assume a mass poisoning happened at the Noodle House Because all of those have IC solutions as far as I can tell 1) Examine more people. Knowing that one seems to have eaten something bad and that others might have as well seems like enough of a reason to postpone eating, and the more people who have eaten something uncommon and are exhibiting the same symptoms there are, the stronger evidence there is that it was a deliberate poison attempt. 2) Ask the prof what he meant about a "stacked deck" and "poisoning cases" (I had just assumed he told us everything he found out, so I didn't ask IC when he actually said it) 3) Find out about who is sick and what they did to see if it was likely targeted at them or targeted more generally and if they have anything in common about where they got their food (like perhaps the Noodle House). If I was jumping the gun on investigating the poison, I apologize. I just thought we had sufficient reason IC to think there was a poisoning attempt at the Noodle House.

The prof examined someone and determined that he was feeling ill due to something uncommon he ingested and then told us the man has been poisoned. Or rather, I guess said something about a stacked deck and then later referred to them as being poisoned (though I did think it was a little odd the paladin didn't say anything in response to Egare mentioning "poisoning cases"). I would have though thinking the poisoning happened here was the most likely guess? If not, Takeshi will do what he's been doing and grab food, ignore alcohol, and try to eavesdrop.

The two attacks was already addressed in discussion (it was basically a BoF mistake on my part). Takeshi would have gone the shortest distance to get in melee range. He has 10ft reach and either a 40ft or 60ft fly speed depending on if you think a fighter's armor training affects magical flying. If he really needs it, he could just use BoF for the additional movement instead of the +2 to hit/damage, which is what I said would replace the mistaken extra attack. For now just placed him behind Aayalla. He uses +1 kukris, so it's magical slashing damage.

Not seeing any immediate need to decide who gets the ring (and also everybody seems to have some way to fly if they fall far enough to be able to react), Takeshi marches on to the Grand Pavilion, ready for his next fight. I don't think anybody actually got injured that last fight, and he has no spells to cast.

Takeshi watches as the last monk falls before following Aayalla up the wall to where Marthysan. "Yes, it was certainly a rather...unique fight. An interesting change to those I have participated in in the past." He removes his slippers and hands them over with a slight bow to the paladin.

Once again going to take the +2 attacks/AC/CMD/Reflex saves from BoF Takeshi smiles inwardly at the doomed monk. Silly man should have spared himself this and just forfeited. Full attack. All attacks are non-lethal. If he's still up after all this, Takeshi will then 5ft step to L17

Going to take the +2 attacks/AC/CMD/Reflex saves from BoF Takeshi steps forward and focuses fire on the same monk Aayalla just attacked. Green monk, I believe? Though if he goes down, I'll switch to blue monk. 5ft step to K17 and then full attack. All attacks are non-lethal

I would assume so? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Also, if you do end up using Hideous Laughter, allow me to present the joke with 3 punchlines: Why couldn't Cinderella play soccer? Punchline 1:
She kept running away from the ball. Punchline 2:
Her glass cleats kept falling off. Punchline 3: Her coach kept turning into a pumpkin at midnight.

According to this followup post to the blog post, for trip, sunder, and disarm, if you have Weapon Finesse and are using a finessable weapon, you get to use Dex instead of Str. Relevant text: Sean Reynolds wrote:

Lol! Did Aayalla just one-shot the person who was meant to be the main warrior in this fight? XD Also, if Aayalla wants to keep tripping people without the AoO, she does have Hideous Laughter. Though as monks, they probably have good Will saves. Amused by how well Aayalla's tactic went, Takeshi tries to do likewise, taking advantage of his quick reflexes to try to get the jump on one of the remaining monks. Charge to J18. I don't normally do combat maneuvers, but my understanding from this post is that for trip, disarm, and sunder, I get the benefit of all my feats/items/class abilities, making it basically the same as an attack roll.
AC 33, CMD 27 from charge until next round

Speaking softly, Takeshi murmurs to his companions. "Interesting. Given the setup opponents will almost certainly attempt to trip us or to find some way to make us fall. We could attempt to do likewise, but I'm afraid it's one of my personal fortes unless you think they'd fall over from a good joke. Though it's also nice to see they took some safety precautions." Just watch as I manage to get tripped and fail the reflex save. XD On the bright side, after reviewing my character/how CMD works, I realized that apparently my ring of protection improves my CMD.

Given that the exhibition match is before our actual bout and given how "well" our last exhibition match went, do we want to participate in this exhibition match? I would personally lean towards a no, but if everybody else disagrees, that's fine. I probably have the least issue with fatigue since I don't really have daily resources to spend/save.

Wait, is our exhibition match first or our actual bout? I thought our actual bout was in the late morning and the exhibition match was in the afternoon?
